Afternoon all,
What a day! Thank goodness it all turned out okay in the end.

We have been working hard getting ready for Dana's baby shower. She didn't invite many people as a part of separating herself from the people who are trouble. Then two of the people on her very short list (and their partners) cancelled at the last minute. She was sobbing and absolutely heart broken. It was like she was being punished for trying to do the right thing by the baby. We gave her a big hug and just went ahead with the plans as if there were going to be 100 people here. Blew up balloons, put up streamers, got all the food ready etc etc. She kept sobbing and saying 'I should just cancel it'. I said no way, even if it ends up being just us we are going to celebrate this baby coming into the world. It turned out to be more than just us, just enough that we all had a good time. She was even smiling...

Heidi, I know you are a lot nicer than you pretend to be (even with Gil) so there is no way you'd even consider the revenge plans I have going through my head right now.

Rolanda, I know some of the inspectors can be total pains, but I bet you cleaned clean.

Broni, I'd put up with mud for a while for the kind of company Bella gives!!

Gail, what a great idea! And like all great ideas it all ended up well.

Julie, I like your choices, time on the cello vs water aerobics... something you've wanted to do for a long time vs something you have to do...

My back was OK today and yes I did get back to sleep. We took MIL to the cemetery to see Sharon's plaque and leave some flowers for her birthday which would have been 31st.
We then went on to Belinda's place and Ken slashed some paddocks. With all the rain the grass is growing very quickly.
Gail,if you like the outlaws etc it should be a good partnership. What is there not to like with you and Scott.
Heidi, can you go to the bank and get a copy of the loan so that you do not get any more 'surprises' with what he has involved you in.
Glad the shower went well Suzy.
Hugs to you all.

The plant is a couple hours drive away, and the bank is unfamiliar to me. I don't even know the name of the bank. Nor would I trust IH to tell me the name. He lies, even about innocent, everyday things.

IH just walked in and announced that we have a newborn calf. He also mentioned that a dog had an accident and I needed to clean it up. Now I need to get dressed and deal with both. Byeeeee

Morning all. I have a fresh pot of coffee for whoever needs a cup.

Suzy, glad the shower went well. It is a good thing that Dana is trying to separate from the people who keep bringing her down. Sounds like she might be growing up a little bit.

Heidi, I don't even know what to say anymore about IH. He keeps topping himself. You are a saint to put up with him.

Gail, glad you had a nice time with the future in-laws. They have to like you or I will send the beastie boys after them for you.

Another bull calf. I'm thrilled about him. That's 5 bull calves so far in 2012, and no heifers yet.

Good Morning friends. Not a good night for me, pain that would not go away. but today is sunny, although cold, and blue skies and I am feeling better now, hope it stays that way.

Another bully boy calf, congratulations Heidi.

Tami, thanks for the coffee, always a good thing.

Rolanda, how long have you been in the rental? How often do they have inspections?

Other things I wanted to comment on are back a pager, and I would loose this if I tried going back, So that's it for this time, catch you again later, hugs to each of you.

Steers sell for 10¢ a pound more than heifers, so I want all the bull calves I can get. This calf is a little early. Calving season proper isn't supposed to start for over a week yet.

I need to go do some unpleasant tractor work, then hook up my stock trailer, load up the remaining 11 calves, and take them to the sale barn.

I have a half hour break before hooking up the trailer. IH is talking about going with me to see the sale barn, and how to get there.

Just took a walk to the corner to buy slurpees at 7-11. Slurpee machine was out of order. Did not make for happy boys. Bought them chocolate milk instead and walked home. Harley is now stretched out on the tile floor taking a nap. We took a water bottle and collapsible bowl for Harley.

I'm back from the stockyards. All 11 calves fit ( tho' IH didn't think they would) and danced in the trailer the whole way there. That made truck and trailer hard to handle, so I couldn't drive over 45 mph. IH really didn't know where the stockyard was. And the line there was short. IH was impressed at how I handled everything. There are no more calves left from last spring's calf crop now, so one less group to manage. YEAH!!!!!

It has been a slow day here at my house. Robe, slippers, and a book. Reruns on TV. A sit in the sunshine, a 3 hour nap in bed, instead of the recliner. Cooked an Omaha Steak (actually 2 of them, planned overs) and steamed some zucchini for dinner. Can't get much slower than that.

Heidi, I watched the tennis till 2am here. Then Ken has taken MIL back home this morning while I have been doing some gardening. It is hot and steamy. I have not really had time to be at the computer.
School holidays finished here so Laura is back at school today. The shopping centres will be quiet.
Heidi, did IH have an ulterior motive for going to the sale barn?
Tricia, sorry about the pain. Hope the weather improves so that the pain also goes away.
I kept myself going for Sharon, and then had MIL for 7 weeks and I found when all that was over I had every pain imaginable (or it seemed like that).

Morning.. I wish it was a slow day here

Rental Inspection: at 6 weeks, then 3 monthly afterwards.
We have been in the Rental for 3 1/2 months, and tomorrow will be our First Inspection.
We do have to live here for 12 months : The house is very much cleaner than when we moved in (the house was filthy)
and the Lawns/Garden is much more manageable then when we moved in..

I had a quiet day. Took the kids to Hebrew school. Someone had fun with the marquee of the aquatic center. One side was supposed to read girls soft ball and was rewritten to read "soft girl b*lls" not sure what the other side was supposed to say but it read "for virgins call 577-xxxx" They were fixed by the time I picked the boys up.

June, I thought the same thing, is Gil planning to sneak off with some of Heidi's calves to collect some more cash for himself??? Next batch of course as this one is all gone.. Nothing she can do but yell when it's done which is better than saying no. Geez I'm getting cynical and suspicious in my old age.

June, I'm glad your back is feeling better. I think chronic pain is a form of torture and feel for those who have it. As I was typing that I had a flash - I haven't had a pain free day since 1985. Luckily mine is very low on the pain scale, but it is why people look at me sometimes and think I'm upset about something. Anywho, I'm reminded frequently that I am so very very lucky.

MizT, that sounds like a lovely slow day... Are the torturers back again tomorrow?

Tami, best I could come up with was 'for sign call', which makes no sense at all.

Rolanda, glad to hear your weather is less unbearable. Half of the kids went back to school today (Years 7, 11 and 12), Alie goes back tomorrow. The BF started today (year 11) and he has transferred to her school - not about her, took him 3 years to get a place there.

There will be 5 or 6 calves to sell this summer. IH does not have a stock trailer, and he is too cheap to pay someone to haul them when I can do it for free. Plus, he is a little bit afraid of the revenge I will have. One time he got me really mad when he let a favorite cow die (instead of calling the Vet to give her an IV shot of calcium to save her from Milk Fever, he stepped over her and ignored her!) I spray painted MORON all over his truck in florescent paint. He had to have his truck repainted after being the laughing stock of the neighborhood.

If IH tried to steal some of my calves, I would have him arrested. I have done it before and I will do it again...... and he knows it. He will not take and sell a single calf.

Good onya Heidi, pity you cannot have him committed.
May have to rethink this new job, only got a half day again today and she will phone me when more work comes in, seems a bit unfair as she does not want me working for anyone else.
Love and hugs to you all.

Just popping in for a few minutes! Warm greetings and {{{{HUGS}}}} for all!

Suzy, what a great TOPP! You were right to go ahead with the shower, hopefully reassuring Dana that she did (and is doing) the right thing! Fun with those who came was a good reinforcement!

June, another busy day for you and Ken! You certainly keep yourselves out of trouble. How nice that you took MIL to see the plaque at Sharon's grave! Thinking of you, Ken, Laura and Belinda and knowing that you'll share warm memories on Sharon's birthday! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

June, that's a good idea to suggest that Heidi go to the bank to get a copy of the contract. IH may lie about the contract, about his "partners", about the location of the bank, etc., but I think the transaction for when the plant was purchased must be recorded at the county level. It would be good for Heidi to know as much as possible!

Gail, definitely must agree with everyone! How could the new in-laws NOT like you and hubby! We all love you! What a good feeling to know that there is mutual admiration and respect from "the parents!"

Heidi, what would you do without "announcements" from IH? At least he was right about the calf! Congratulations on the new baby bull! I hope he is healthy!

Tami, I hope it was a good day for all of you, even though the Beasties didn't get their slurpees! (Do they have a favorite flavor?) So glad you took water for Harley so he could have something to drink mid-walk! Hopefully it was a nice day and you all enjoyed yourselves!

MizT, I hope you were able to enjoy some of that sun, even if the temperature was a bit cooler! Hopefully there will be less pain overnight tonight!

Can you believe it? I had the same initial response as many of the rest of you when I read that IH wanted to go with Heidi to the sale barn to "keep her company." I was relieved when she said that she was taking all of the calves from the spring/summer, so there'd be none ready to take in until months from now.

Though I'm sorry to hear that you have had to deal with IH's thieving ways before, Heidi, I'm glad to hear that you have effective ways to deal with them! He has done enough under-handed and illegal things that hopefully he knows you have little or no tolerance for any more!

June, I hope you didn't work too much in the garden. Between the pain and the heat, we hope you are taking care of yourself!

Rolanda, whoever owns your rental unit is blessed that you are there and improving it! I can't imagine that there would be any problems or questions from the inspection! Hopefully you can get a bit of rest now - and maybe some cooler temperatures!

Broni, the restrictions on your work don't seem fair. I hope you'll be getting enough work and enough hours to satisfy your needs!

Woo Hoo, it's not quite midnight! I may be able to be in bed by 12:30. I need to be a bit more "normal" the next couple of weeks, as D

And, of course, I've done it again. Here's the rest:

Woo Hoo, it's not quite midnight! I may be able to be in bed by 12:30. I need to be a bit more "normal" the next couple of weeks, as D2 will be here and working. Her hubby is coming next weekend for a teachers job fair. It's sponsored by 20 area school districts. Hopefully, he'll be able to make some good contacts, as he'd really like to have a teaching position for next year! His degrees are in history and English, but he has taught middle school math for 3 years and reading this year. Ideally, he'd like to find a high school history position. I don't want anyone to get cramped fingers, so I won't ask you all to cross your fingers until our Saturday, Feb. 4 (Feb. 5 down under).

Thinking of all of you and sharing positive thoughts, prayers, healing vibes, and {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} a-plenty!

Don't worry my friends just needed to vent, I will be discussing this with her next time I am "called in"!
Had a win this afternoon, took Bella for a walk and some lovely person had left 6 staghorn ferns on the nature-strip so guess who jumped in the car and collected when we got back??? Me!

Like the idea of you getting the free stag-horns Broni. Hope you can settle for definite days of work so you can get a regular income.
Had a lazy afternoon. After lunch I had a shower (needed after the yard work) and then put on the AC and had a sleep and a bit of TV and read of my book. Reached about 33*c. the warmest day so far this summer.

Broni, what a bargain. We had staghorns when I was a kid. I don't have an area shaded enough now.

And you tell that woman there are a bunch of people here who will beat her up if she doesn't treat you right!

Julie, I hope your SIL (?) meets the right people on his trip.

Miserable day down here. It rained during the night, but all day it just felt like it should be raining. Hot, muggy, no air movement at all... and still 100 times better than for Rolanda in WA and others trapped by floods!

Julie, not sure about a favorite flavor but Coke might be it. Thanks for your amazing updates. Will keep my fingers crossed. Don't worry about a cramp, I will stretch them occasionally.

June, hugs. It's the special days that bring up memories of loved ones.

D has gone for physio so I have absconded with the grandie's netbook.

Went down to see MIL at the continuing care centre yesterday, and then stopped in to see FIL on the way home. I made peanut butter cookies while I was there - he loves them. I think he finds the time a bit long on his own ... he just loves company now.

I am trying to watch what I eat so I can lose some weight. I feel very sluggish lately and just not well. I really, really need to lose weight. On Wednesday it will be 6 months since I quit smoking ... time to smarten up about the rest of my life. But oh how I still miss cigarettes. My nephew has been smoke free for about a month and a half now. He said if I can do it after almost 40 years, he can do it after 5.
