Heidi, I too was questioning IH's motivation for going with you to the sale barn. I thought maybe he was just curious about the price you got for the calves, and then he might be able to try and convince you to lend him more money.

Well, I should get off my biggest part and get some things done. I want to check FB as I understand my darling brother left me a message (this comment was filled with sarcasm). My sister emailed me last week to let me know he had had a heart attack a few weeks ago. He is not one of my favourite people. You know what they say, you can pick your friends but not your family.

Some thoughts on aging:

~Your Kids are becoming you......but your grandchildren are Perfect!

~Going Out is good.. Coming Home is better!

~You Forget names .... But it's OK because other people forgot they Even knew you!!!

~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything .... Especially Golf.

~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.

~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It's Called "pre-sleep".

~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" Switch..

~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???

~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!

~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

~Everybody Whispers.

~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet .... 2 of which you will never wear.

~~~But Old is good in some things: Old songs, Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!
I think the following story might be too long, so I will break it up if necessary. Heidi, do you know how to crochet?
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick, and the doctor said she would not recover.
In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.
When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000. He asked her about the contents.
'When we were to be married,' she said, 'my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.
'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?'
'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'
A Prayer.......
Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man, Love to forgive him, and Patience for his moods because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death because I don't have time to crochet.
Another bad day with the back. Oh, well. I'll just be forced to take it easy today.
It's gonna be a rather pleasant week for me. IH may be gone most of the week. He has to be in 3 different states. Maybe I'll even be able to set up my Barn Owl nest box.
I successfully got the damaged trailer (I crushed the ball hitch and the jack) in to the repair shop. I had to use chains and ropes to tie it to the truck. They will be replacing the ball hitch and jack.
Hi everyone!
Thank you all for your birthday wishes. It was a lovely quiet and wet weekend. Perfect for some down time and relaxation. I read a couple of books and just enjoyed myself. We managed to get one walk on the beach on Australia day and then it rained and rained and rained some more.
SIL and BIL decided to head off for Sydney before they got flooded in.
Anyway, I'm back at work and really must run and get organised for today.
Have a lovely day all!
Hi all.
Theresa, thank you for "borrowing" the grandies laptop. It is always nice when you stop in for a visit. Really enjoyed all your little sayings.
Don't remember what else I read. It is past my bedtime and I am tucking myself in in a few minutes. See you all in the morning.
Somebody save me from the chaos that is my home!
We emptied Beth's former bedroom so we could put heaps of shelves in there for all hubby's stuff, which is great, but that in itself creates more mess! Most of that is now dealt with and he is very happy with his storage room, but since we have Beth back here in transit between housing, we have all her stuff too! The back room is now a 'throw it and run away' situation, and to top that all off, hubby is making me do my room!!! Off to Bunnings for more shelves so I can sort my cr*p out, throw away lots of unwanted clothes, buy more bookshelves etc etc...
OH, and remember, we are also renovating the kitchen in the midst of all this AAARGH!
The kitchen has stalled temporarily due to work interrupting and various other things, but apparently Thursday we are back at it full steam
Hi, Everyone! I'm trying for an earlier night tonight, as my day started earlier than I'd hoped, and tomorrow will, too.
Broni, vent as much and as often as you like! Good for you for collecting the staghorn ferns! I'm sure they'll look lovely in their new home!
Suzy, the day sounds awful - I'm so glad the weather wasn't so bad for the shower!
Tami, I was curious about your favorite Slurpee flavor because the first babysitter/nanny for our grandies LOVES Slurpees and can't get them in her home state. She allowed herself to get one a week when she had time off. I think her favorite was Mountain Dew. We tried a Slurpee once while we were visiting our D and her family. It was very sweet and VERY cold. Can you say, "Brain Freeze"?
June, thinking of you and sending lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and ! Good luck tomorrow if it's not too hot and you can play bowls!
Theresa, so nice to see you have a chance to post! Keep up the good work setting an example for your nephew! I'm sure you'll be able to lose some weight. You just have a lot to deal with right now, which makes it more difficult! How nice of you to make cookies for your FIL when you visited! I'm sure you're right that things are quiet and lonely for him! How is your MIL doing?
What a great TOPP, Theresa! And lots of words of wisdom in the next few posts! Thank you for sharing!
Even if you don't much like your brother, I hope he is doing better since his heart attack, Theresa.
Theresa, I loved the crocheted doll story!
Welcome back, Vicki! So glad you were able to enjoy your time away and your birthday! I hope your cake wasn't soggy!
Heidi, I hope your back is better! And I hope you get several good IH-free days this week!
Rolanda, hoping all goes well as you try to find a continuing care facility for your Mum. I'm glad you have some help, just as long as "too many cooks" don't spoil the process!
Tami, sleep well and have a great day at school tomorrow! What a nice surprise to get a Skype call from you Australian cousin!
Gail, good luck with the continuing and ever-expanding reno! Oh, my! One thing leads to another which leads to another! Good luck getting it all done before the big reunion! All the best to anyone who comes to visit while you're "in process!"
Tricia, how unfair and thoughtless for them to change the frequency without notifying you! I hope you're able to get some sleep tonight! Is Scooter getting more like her old self? Be sure you tell her what is happening and why. I'm quite sure she'll listen and understand!
Wonderful news, Heidi!
I'm going to sneak away, get a few things done, then try to be in bed by midnight tonight. Sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, , positive thoughts, healing vibes and prayers for all who might benefit from them! Good Night, Everyone!
June, {{{{big hugs}}}}.
Gail, don't trip on anything!
Theresa, I like it when you clean out your email - wish it was a daily occurrence! I've managed to lose a little bit of the weight I found, not much, but enough to make me feel like my rotundness might not be permanent. I wish you the same...
Tricia, I hope the reduction is good news, reduced because you don't need it any more, though it seems a little early to me. Take care and look after yourself.
Dimie has been punishing us for making too much noise with the gurney and staying away. It's been a couple of days of quiet now and he's back to following me around, very sweet!
Good morning everyone. Coffee is ready, help yourself.
I don't have a favorite slurpee flavor. I am not a big fan of them but if I get when it is usually coke or a coke/cherry mix. I buy the kids slurpees and I get coffee
Don't remember much else that I read. I will see you all later.
Good Maen all!
I called my half-sister Melanie for her birthday yesterday. She was SO happily surprised! We had a great conversation, nice to hear her voice after seeing her on FB for the last few months. She is finishing her Masters Degree in Family Therapy & Psychology. Talked to her for about 20 minutes. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing and I am SO glad I did it!
The Head of the therapists came today, said I have met all my goals, and they will be discontinuing all my assistance. I got better too fast! I am going to miss my therapists, boo hoo! I still have to continue my exercises daily, to get endurance built up, but can do that on my own, they think.
I made it to the mail box yesterday, a big first for me, cause it is uphill rather sharply. Nothing but junk mail, not worth the effort. Today's task is to try for the ome, and the freezer, so I can find something new to cooK for later this week. I have 2 entrees, salmon patties again and a small Omaha steak, about 3 ounces I imagine, just just enough for me. there aremany veggies available, so I do not have to cook for a ouple of days. Well, maybe lunch, do not have anything for lunch and ya know, it is lunch time. I need to work on that I think.
Hugs to each of you, I hope to be back later today. See Ya.
Sounds like good news/bad news, MizT. I know how far it is to the mailbox, and I think that they had some pretty low goals if they think you've met them. I think you still need someone to check on you regularly.
