Hi all. Back from school. The party I am going to is for Princess House. I have been to Tupperware parties before, also. I love Pampered Chef. Never went to a party but got hand-me-downs from my sister-in-law and love the stuff. She converted her house to strictly Kosher and had to buy all new stuff. Lucky for me. I have also been to a candle party but can not remember the name. My friend David is meeting me at the party. He is into cooking and stuff so it should be fun.

Theresa, I am really proud of you for not smoking for so long. Keep it up. I need to lose weight also. Lets try to motivate each other. I know it is long distance but it might work.

Speaking of newspaper articles, I made the front page of our local rag, a photo of a few of us out the back of the kinder celebrating the fact that it got accepted onto the National Heritage Register. This means the building is safe, can never be demolished and will now be renovated into a fire information centre/museum/cafe and meeting house. I will cut/paste the link later when I am on the proper computer.

Theresa, are you on medication for blood sugar? Or trying first to control with diet? I had very good luck with the eating plan featured in Metabolism Miracle. My doctor OKed it, and was most impressed with my numbers when on it. OH, besides getting numbers down, I lost weight and lots of inches/dress sizes. I just could not keep up the program when Al was so sick, and we were away from home so often. You can look it up online, and of course, there is a book :)

MizT, I am on medication, two different kinds, a total of 8 pills a day. The doctor said I will probably have to go on insulin in the very near future. He said he will re-assess my meds at my next appointment in early May. I will check out Metabolism Miracle tomorrow or Sunday when I get a chance.

Tami, I plan on really watching what I eat, and hopefully start a walking program, on Monday next week.

Tomorrow I am off to the in-laws again, if I am up to it. Right now my low back is killing me. If it's not better tomorrow, there's no way I am sitting in a car for an hour and a half each way.

Heidi, I'm sorry, I don't think I've heard about the girlfriend you are talking about. Maybe this was mentioned when I didn't have a computer. I hope her daughter is there on time.

I think I am soon off to bed, accompanied by Mr. Hot Water Bottle. Gosh I lead an exciting life!!!

I am not enjoying talking to my friend in the hospital. She's snapping at me a lot and getting nasty. I know some of it is the pain, and some of it is fear, but that doesn't make it easier. Her daughter hasn't shown up at the hospital, tho' she's less than half an hour away, and that doesn't help.

Morning friends

Good one Tami.. LOL.. mention my kid or else...

Tricia I'm glad you approve of my shopping priorities[love my dogs] .. I really do not like shopping and avoid it at all costs.. Do ventured out when the stash of loo paper is getting low as well..

Heidi we always have Pink Lady's in the fruit bowl.. currently Lachies favourite apple. Not good about your cherries. I've given up on my fruit trees until I have a totally enclosed [top & sides] pen built.. vermin get all my fruit. We have a major possum problem here. Everytime an old house is demolished for new development we seen to have an influx in rats as well..luckily they keep out of the house but not whatever I am growing..

Googling the 'Metabolism Miracle'... I need a miracle..

Well done for the TOPP on page 400 WTG..

and now it is time for me to go as well..

Hi, Friends! So good to be here before midnight!

Tami, we're glad you were able to be sure Dylan got mentioned in the article! I hope you had fun at the housewares party!

Theresa, it's good to know that your shoulders are generally better than they were! Also, congrats on still being smoke-free. I hope you'll find a way to get the blood sugars under control and lose weight! Good for your D for doing so well with her rehabilitation and especially weight loss. That will make a big difference for her! Just as you're proud of her, I'm sure she's proud of you for stopping smoking and working on controlling blood sugar. It's a new life-style to learn. You CAN do it!

Suzanne, enjoy your weekend and travel safely!

Heidi, I'm guessing the cherry trees will do better next year. Congrats on your apples trees! I've have never seen or tasted an Arkansas Black apple. Do your apple trees cross pollinate? If you plant a Pink Lady, will that help with the pollination?

MizT (and Suzanne), we didn't take your sunshine. It has only very briefly made an appearance here peeking through the clouds. I used to make meals for hubby and family if I had to be away. If it was a full day or longer, I also made and froze sandwiches. (Hubby was less accomplished in those days than he is now.)

Rolanda, have fun at the Tupperware Party. Brenda, we have Pampered Chef here, though I've never been to one. I hope your rain and hailstones move on!

Heidi, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend with cancer. It really doesn't sound good. I'm glad her daughter is rushing to be by her side! Hooray for you for being the first to post on page 400!

Tami, I'll jump on the weight loss attempt band wagon with you and Theresa. It's desperately needed here.

Yay, Gail, colleagues and friends! Way to go to get the kinder building accepted onto the National Heritage Register, never to be threatened with being demolished again. How soon will it be renovated to become a fire information centre/museum/cafe and meeting house? Will it take some major fund-raising efforts?

Theresa, I hope your lower back will feel better soon! If you make the trip to your in-laws, I hope it doesn't worsen! Has anyone begun looking for placement for your MIL? How is your FIL doing? Sending positive thoughts in their direction.

Heidi, I guess your friend's D didn't rush to the hospital after all. So sorry you're having to deal with your friend's wrath/fear/meds talking.

Bean, I like your priorities for shopping. They work for me!

MizT, you have me wondering. Does the "Metabolism Miracle" book include recipes? If not, do you have any that worked for you that you could share?

Suzy, it's only been 4 hours or so. Perhaps Gail had a Gail and hasn't returned yet to get to her other computer.

Time for me to head to bed, even though it's not quite midnight. Hooray! Maybe I'll get enough sleep.

Sending lots of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, [h

Just been to see "The Pirates", an animated kids movie. We did not do the 3D version as that was on earlier. Took Laura and a girl who lives a couple of doors away. Laura is playing at her house now.
Had a fall in the kitchen today and my right shoulder is feeling a bit bruised. I stepped on a piece of paper and my foot kept going and down I went. I also felt my knee twist but so far that feels OK.

That fall sounds unpleasant, June. I hope everything feels better tomorrow.

Suzy.... I have the feeling that my friend will do everything she can to make her daughter feel like cr@p. Her mother did everything she could to my friend in a similar situation. Over the years, I've tried to make her see what she was doing to her daughter, but she wouldn't listen to me. She ALWAYS knew best. I'm just trying to reassure the daughter that she won't be alone. I'll be there for her. I'm the only one of her mother's friends that she trusts and likes.

JULIE, I think there were recipes in the Metabolism Miracle book, it has been a while so not for sure. I know there were recipes and menus on the website. I will try to give a look tomorrow and report back.

I should be in bed, but not a bit sleepy now. I was sleepy all day, and every time i sat, I fell asleep. Perhaps bedtime meds will kick in soon and ease me toward dreamland.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. Hubby made it today so I hope it is up to your liking.

Had a nice time at the party last night. Didn't buy anything but I earned two small prizes. My friends David and Ryan came and the three of us are hosting a party in 3 weeks. We are doing it at their house. Now I have to invite a bunch of friends and try to earn some free gifts. The prices were a little out of my budget.

HEIDI, if you find some energy, could you please share? I seem a bit low at the moment. It is still cloudy and cool here, breezy, still with the smell of privet hedge blooms, yuck. I have the AC on just so I do not have to open windows and doors.

Friend Eddie came today bringing steamed shrimp, huge, yummy shrimp. We ate lunch together. last week when he was here, we somehow got to talking about eating boiled shrimp down on the coast. he remembered and bought some from the grocery. It was yummy and there is shrimp left over for tomorrow!

did you know my silly kitty would not eat any of the shrimp? fine with me, I did not have to share.

I thought I had solved the problem with trash being scattered from my cans. I reserve 2 of them for anything that might vaguely smell of food, the others are for non food trash. these 2 cans have double handles that click up supposedly locking the lid in place. I have found bungy cords to hold the handles upright, they cannot be unlocked. so far, they have not been breached. you would imagine my surprise yesterday when those cans were still upright, bungy cords in place, but there was trash scattered across my back yard. IT WAS NOT MY TRASH. seems some animal brought their own picnic lunch to eat in my back yard. None of the items were mine, not my brand, I had not had canned biscuits, nor written a note to go to school with a child, I did not even recognize the names. Seems I cannot win the trash wars.

TAMI, I know little about kosher kitchens, but is it not mainly keeping meats separate from all other foods, especially dairy products? separate knives, cutting boards, serving and cooking items? I should look it up I suppose, it is interesting to me.

Thoughts and prayers going to Mamacita, hope how I hope she does not have an infection. get well soon, Mama.

JUNE, falls are never good, especially at our age. I hope you are less sore today.

I need to find something to do, I am bored to tears, almost, lately. Not a lot I can do, but trying to think of some service i might provide as a volunteer. Just one day a week to get out and with people, that would be good. How I wish I were packing to move, there is always something to do, somewhere to go at Episcopal Place.

OK, back to my recliner, I have a new book, yippee. sum total of my accomplishments this week, I have fed myself and read a book. OH, I did go out and cut down a privet hedge volunteer, and cut a vine that was growing up my electric pole and out the wires. In a few days I will see if I got all the connections to the ground severed, it should all die if i did. If not, should be easier to trace the green one back to the origin.

hugs to each of you, with extras.

Tricia, glad you enjoyed your friend Eddie's visit. I am not too sure about a kosher kitchen, I don't keep one. I do know you can not mix meat and dairy. My SIL has two sets of everything, one for dairy, one for meat. She has labels in her cabinets to know where each goes.

June, do be careful! I'm so sorry to hear about your fall! Isn't it amazing that a piece of stray paper can be enough to make life miserable for us? Did you ice your shoulder or your knee? I hope you feel better tomorrow, though sometimes the next day can be a bit unpleasant. I know nothing about the movie "The Pirates." Did Laura and her friend enjoy it? Did you?

With a couple of near-falls lately, I'm trying to be more aware of where and how I walk. Also have caught myself shuffling a bit when I'm barely able to drag myself around. This is NOT something we can allow! We all need to stay healthy and mobile!

Suzy, I agree that I hope Heidi's friend doesn't make things worse between her and her D. Unfortunately, it sounds like things are already about as bad as they can get.

Tami, I'm trying to keep some cut-up fresh vegetables and hummus in the fridge. (My hubby isn't much for vegetables, either.)

Just found a link for the Metabolism Miracle:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1240357/The-metabolism-miracle-The-revolutionary -diet-help-stay-slim-forever.html

(Some comments following the article compare it to the Atkins diet.)

Sending many more positive thoughts and healing vibes to Mamacita to fight off the infections. Lots of prayers going her way, too! We miss you, Mama!

MizT, some animal seems determined to picnic in and trash your yard. Too bad you can't put up a sign! It's puzzling that names you see on papers are unfamiliar. How far is an animal likely to drag trash if it's hungry? Do you suppose someone is doing drive-by dumping in your area?

I'm glad you found a new book to read and keep you company, MizT! BTW, the steamed shrimp sounds yummy!

I wish I had a fraction of the energy that you think I have. I do a few things then flake at the computer. I think Heidi does much the same.
I am still a bit tender on the right side so have taken things pretty easy today. I had wanted to do a lot of cleaning up in the garden but that can wait till the morning. Laura goes home tonight as school returns this week.
She has re arranged my computer so that things that were at the bottom of the screen are now down the LHS. Makes me have to concentrate on what I am doing. Laura does not know how they got there or how to put them back.
