A friend has been able to find the link to the story that was in the local rag (newspaper) a week or so ago...I couldn't find it! Hope it works...

A wise man is superior to any insults which can be put upon him, and the best reply to unseemly behavior is patience and moderation.

I have just realised that the link she sent me is a scan of the article, so might be a bit hard to read...but I am the one at the front (!) with the pink wrap that Broni gave me ☻

Morning friends, another cool start to a spring day. Heat again last night, but perhaps for the last time this spring, a warming trend is promised.

I have a young man working around the edges of the house, domes, with a weed eater, forget what it is called down under. The place is looking better already!

Bean, how scary to have intruders. I know you were glad the dogs scared him away.

TAMI, thanks for the coffee. Maybe it will help me wake up. I was up at 4 am hurting, discovered I had not taken bedtime meds. I got pill, and was back asleep by 5:30, snuggly warm in my recliner. I just need to get awake now, stuff to do today.

I forget what I read back a page, and if I go back will loose what I am saying here, bummer. Suzy did say the baby is never allowed down to the floor, so cannot learn to crawl.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, Till later,

Morning all.

Bean - thank goodness you have dogs!!!! I'm so glad all turned out well.

Hubby and I have our 37th anniversary this year.

MizT, our cool and damp weather will continue for a few more days. My low back and hips and other parts are not happy. Oh well, this too shall pass.

Gail, I wasn't able to open the link, but I saw the picture on the other site. Congratulations to you all.

Hubby and I went for a drive yesterday to some locks along the St. Lawrence Seaway. It's only about an hour's drive and we go there quite often. Hubby pulled a "gail", but I just wasn't hungry.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget

Bean .... Hurrah for the dogs! Word will get around. Trust me. We had one intruder here, who was hospitalized, and one intruder when we lived in New Jersey (I believe I've related the tale of the lost luggage and the burglar). I have been told here that word has gotten around through the local scum that my dogs WILL attack trespassers.... and that they attack so quickly that they won't see it coming. I feel much safer than if I had a burglar alarm system. My dogs are not mean. If a person is invited in the yard, for the rest of their life their only danger is getting loved to death.

What a day. My lawn tractor committed suicide, so I had to go buy a new one. Then, I talked to my friend who is in the last stage of cancer. I talked, she screamed at me. She was screaming vile invectives against her daughter who tried to go see her yesterday. I imagine the poor girl is still in tears. I believe that her mother truly hates her. It was such a horrible experience today that I don't want to talk to her again. I don't understand how anyone can be so full of hate. Yes, she's dying, but that's no excuse for that behavior.

G'Day, Everyone! Yes, it is still daylight outside, though it's nearing 7 p.m. (Have I ever mentioned how much I like spring?) We have a late meeting tonight (8:30 start, if you can imagine) and will be leaving the house about 7:30, so thought I better drop by here early.

Bean, I hope you get some milder, drier weather and your hips feel better soon! Sort of scary to know there was an intruder, though lucky for him that he was able to get away before the dogs caught him. Brenda is right, some people have the audacity to sue for injuries they receive while committing an illegal act. Also, you don't want the dogs to become attack dogs.

June, so sorry to hear about the torrential rain while you were umpiring. The worst is having to return home to soaking wet laundry and part of it in the mud. Very aggravating, I'm sure!

Brenda, it looks like you could use some sun, as well as Bean and June!

Suzy, I'm guessing that most of us are not surprised that Natahlia might be a bit spoiled. It starts out with a cranky, croupy, crying baby, then suddenly any adult in the house with a spare arm is holding the baby, and the baby is rewarding them with cooing and smiles. We've probably all been there at some point. Not to worry, though, as she's at least a few months off from learning to walk. Of course, I suspect Dana is seeing to it that she gets some "tummy time" as well.

Gail, thanks for the link (which made a great TOPP) prior to TOPP #2. (Although, are there really many wise MEN?) I didn't take time to read the article, but it was fun to see you in the photo!

MizT, I hope you're right about no longer needing the heat for a while. Good for the young man with the weed-eater! That should help things look neater and prevent insect breeding. Too bad you forgot your bed-time med., but glad it got right to work when you took it!

Theresa, your drive to the locks sounds fun, especially if there are any signs of spring developing. Too bad you weren't hungry and didn't join your hubby in a Gail!

Gail, I'm glad to hear that Anzac Day services are well attended there. Unfortunately, I think crowds here are dwindling for Memorial Day the end of May.

Heidi, I'm sorry that your friend is dying, but maybe feel worse for you and her daughter. She is obviously not going softly, but being angry at everyone and turning them away will certainly not make the process easier for her.

Heidi, so sorry to hear about your lawn tractor's suicide. I hope you were able to find a suitable replacement!

I need to get ready for the meeting, but hope to find time to get back here later tonight. Take care, Everyone! {{{HUGS}}}

Hi, Theresa and Rolanda!

Rolanda, thanks for providing the name Whipper Snipper! I searched my brain (what little there is) and couldn't for the life of me come up with the name for MizT.

And now, I must "away."

Morning all. Coffee is brewing and should be ready soon. Don't have much time this morning. School bus broke down so I am driving Mitchell and two others to school. They will send another bus but can not give a time frame. Easier to drive than to wait 30 or more minutes.

Morning friends, interesting happenings next door. neighbors are having a storage building/garage thingy built today. Courtney must have got her income tax refund check Looks like it is being built right on property line, next to my driveway. Will be interesting to see how big this thing will be. At the moment they are unloading materials, appears it will have a barn roof. I hope this will not make turning around in my yard too difficult, I know I have been using a bit of their yard when I turn. but when it is raining and muddy, he uses my drive to get his truck to the street, neither has been a problem.

Not as cool overnight, but I did have heat for about an hour to take the chhill off. Kitty and i were up at 6 am, me cause i was hurting, kitty cause she lost her warm spot. sh found a place on my lap on my blankey, I covered her with another blankey and we both had a 2 hour nap!

My yard looks so much better now, young man worked for 4 hours with the shipper sniper (thanks for the Aussie name of that, I just could not remember)

That is done. I just got my driver's license renewed, my truck registration renewed, and the title to the motorcycle signed over to Robert. Now to do some grocery shopping, then work on fence for a while.

Heidi, I hope you are feeling better now. It seems worse when you hurt and have no reason why, at least for me.

TAMI, something like the school bus breaking down can really change your day. hope everyone got to school on time.

Good Morning Theresa, it also seems like a very quite day today. everyone must have a life today.

Brenda, I never knew that, strimmer, for string trimmer perhaps? thanks for a new word today.

June, where did you put the photos of privet hedge? heidi, one reason they are such a nuscence here, they have no natural enemies. another of the plants that was imported from Asia, seemed like a good idea at the time. If kept trimmed, they can make a nice fencing shrub, and have been called "poor man's boxwood". I remember my father trying to get rid of a row of them at our house. he cut the 12 foot tall shrubs down to the ground, they came back. he tried every kind of brush killer, they came back. he even tried pulling them up rots and all, using the family auto. He managed to pull the bumper off Mom's car hehehe. He said you could cut and burn the things, and new ones would sprout from the ashes. He did not ant them cause they needed to be trimmed. I remember that became my job as soon as i could wield the pruners. It was not a fun job.

Neighbor now has a storage building, it is BIG, has a loft so almost could call it 2 story. three young men have put it up less than 6 hours, including painting it, barn red with white trim. And I was right, Courtney got her income tax refund, first thing she told me when I walked out to help her watch the building progress.

Very sunny, still a nice breeze, much warmer today. I swapped sweat pants and long sleeve shirt for Capri pants and short sleeved shirt, feel much better.

not much else going on today, but that i OK, I needed a rest day today.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

We got one roll of fence up. Considering how tired I am, and how sore Robert is, and that it started raining, that's a big accomplishment. A second roll will finish the side.

IH just took off for the plant. Before he left, I showed him an azalea I just planted. It's called "Autumn Twist", has large pale pink flowers with purple stripes, and blooms in Spring, Summer and again in Fall!!! I've never heard of an azalea that does that. This one is good sized already.... thick and ~ 2 feet high.

Heidi, growers have been trying to develop azalea re-bloomers for some time, and there are now several varieties that do. I think it is great, azaleas are so pretty when blooming, they deserve to bloom more than once. Hope you enjoy, the colors sound very exotic.

do not know why, but a bad flare of fibro pain snuck (sneaked?) up on me suddenly and hammered hard, everywhere at once. Thankfully it was time I could take more meds, they have begun to work a wittle bit. No storms about, no cold fronts, no over exertion on my part. Like Heidi earlier, no idea why, but I do hope it goes away, not fun. I have rubbed half my body with capsasin, the other half with Volteren, have a heating pad and a rice sock. If this does not work, maybe a hot shower? After that, my bag of tricks is empty.

the one year anniversary of the terrible outbreak of tornadoes in Alabama is this week. TV stations are running programs their news and weather departments have put together. I just could not watch tonight, it was bad enough when it happened.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Calling on the magical powers of SA.
Today Bill has an op to hopefully regain some blood flow in his legs, it has become so that he is almost unable to walk. No anaesthetic is good but always a worry for a person in their 80s.
Also for my brother. I just got news this morning that he woke in the middle of the night with severe chest pains radiating down his left arm. They called an ambo straight away and went to the hosp and all I know at this stage is that they have stabilised him, his blood pressure was sky high, no other results known at this stage.
