Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, which is why we call it the present.

Good morning friends. I woke today to grey skies, a damp coolness in the air. Wind from the south, that brings humidity up from the Gulf, yuck. One of the days where with exertion, you can feel coolish but sweating at same time.

Waiting for pain meds to catch hold this morning. Feels like a red hot poker is stuck into right hip. Just so thankful I do have pain meds. Heidi, thinking of you today and hope your pain levels are manageable, counting down the hours with you till Monday and you can get your script refilled. Have you ever tried lidocaine patches? Or Voltaren jel? My BIL has both available to him, said the patches can bring the pain down a couple of numbers, when pain medications are not getting it. He was down visiting last Thursday, after a really bad injection in his back. I do hope that means longer pain relief for him, as it does for you.

I rubbed on the volteran gel fore I got out of bed this morning, it has brought level down to almost bearable while waiting for the pills to work. Boy this getting old is not for sissies!

Forgot what I have read, but I did read, I promise, and thought fondly of each of you. I am off for my morning coffee, perhaps the warmth and the caffeine will boost the workings of pain medication. The longest hours of the day are those waiting for medication to work!

Hugs to each of you, with extras. till later.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Michella sent another message last night. "Mom said to send hugs to everyone." I am glad our good thoughts and prayers are helping Mama.

Had a funny at school yesterday. One of my students is far behind in their work. Only had 4 students in one class so I was helping her. She found the answers and I was typing it in for her. I type a lot quicker. She called out to her friends, "Ms. Osias can type without looking." The other three had to come watch. I am so glad my mom made me take typing in high school.

TAMI, that was a cute story. i do hope seeing you "type without looking" will encourage those students to take typing also.

Happy to say pain is MUCH relieved.

It is good to hear a message to us from Mama, hope she is getting better each day.

More later, hugs for now.

Morning. Sunny and a high of 8C today. By Wednesday the temp is supposed to be 21C. Now that's more like it. I am tired of being cold and sore ... let the good times begin!!!

Like MizT, I have read but forgotten already. In fact I had to look at the computer this morning to see what day of the week it was. Did you ever have one of those days???

Suzy, please accept condolences for your husband's nephew's passing. As Gail said, much too young.

It's OK, folks. I got a good night's sleep and have little pain today. I found a bottle of Hydrocodone that I hadn't used and that's helping nicely, thank you. I have to be careful with it because it does have side effects that the Methadone doesn't have. (dizziness, lightheadedness and nausea.)

Tami.... I flunked typing in High School. That was before I figured out that I was dyslexic. I have enough problems hitting the right letters when staring at them while hunting and pecking.

Heidi, so glad to hear you did have some different pain medication on hand. YEP, be careful of the side effects. This weekend, no driving or operating heavy equipment. How is the new little bull calf doing? any idea why it was so small?

I think he's a dwarf, MizT. He's THAT tiny. He's only about 30 pounds, and should have been 70+.

We just had to catch and treat a calf for pneumonia. It was the same calf that was a breech birth and had to be pulled. I suspect his lungs got fluid in them then, and weakened them.

Theresa, thanks for the video. I would love to do that to some of my kids. I would get in serious trouble. It looked more like a college class, the way the kids are sitting and the types of chairs.

A yucky day here. It has been raining on and off all day. We had planned to make a quick run to the mall. Even hubby (who hates to shop) agreed to make it a more leisurely trip than a quick run. There was nothing else to do today. We got the few things we needed and enjoyed the scenery.

I've been taking it easy and watching videos. Now I need to clean up and go to cousin Don's for supper. I'm bringing a couple of pounds of strawberries that I picked in my garden today. Yes, the strawberries are ripening fast and furious.

Well, we have some of our new timber blinds up. then had to go back to the store and change 2 others because we bought the wrong size - drop, not width - we're not that stupid!! Then we also bought more for the last 2 windows that we hadn't been able to decide on 2 weeks ago. My entire house will then have new blinds, and no lace curtains. Woohoo!

Busy day. Our son put his house in Sydney on the market, it sold and settlement is in two weeks. A couple of weeks ago when we had a storm a tree in the back yard partly toppled and the people buying wanted the tree removed. Quote was $550 so we went over today to have a look and took the chain saw. Tree was smaller than we thought so we cut it up. I cut the leaves and small pieces into very small pieces so that they all fitted into the "Green Bin" and Ken put the larger logs into the boot of the car and then we drove the hour to Belinda's place to unload. She burns wood for heating. She was at a dressage show so we did a few jobs for her before we came home. Fortunately I still had plenty of that soup left for dinner.
Broni, I need to some of that swearing tomorrow. I keep putting it off!

June, you can send some of those Autumn days to me. It is heading into summer when we will have temps in the mid to high 90's (35-37 c) with 99% humidity. It gets hot and sticky. I have curly hair and will not even attempt to straighten it over the summer. As soon as I walk out, it gets curlier and frizzy.

Tami, Better that you come here and enjoy the weather. 20-23*c in the daytime about 14*c at night. Lovely! Even our winter days can be 18-22*c with nice sunshine. (we can have a few days in winter that only get to about 12-14*c and then we all freeze)

June, we also have mild winters where I am. Our temps are similar to yours. I enjoy the occasional cold day, we have even got down to 11-12, but that is rare. This year was a really mild winter.

Hi all. Sore today, and had a bad night. At least I should have my pain meds by this time tomorrow. All I really have to do today is plant a Pawpaw tree.

greetings friends, today is a clear, blue skies kind of day, but temps forecast for 90*F (33C) for today and next 2 days. That is high for this time of year. I was out on the back porch for a bit, with my book. There was a nice breeze and was pleasant, as long as the wind kept blowing. It got uncomfortable fast once the wind died.

This morning I had a long phone chat with a dear friend. She is just not doing well, not happy and nothing seems to be able to help her. I am concerned. I do wish I could cheer her up a bit, you know? She is wanting to move yet again, has moved every year for last 5, since her divorce. She has not figured out that she is taking her unhappiness with her place to place, and a move again is not going to be the solution. I listen, about all I can do, hope that is some help.

I need to plan a menu for tomorrow night and cook. Joy is coming for dinner. This weekend she is helping a friend study for a big test, needed for his work. I think she could now take the test and probably make a better score than he will hehehe. I am thinking Mexican pot pie for dinner, that or meatloaf.

Time to consider lunch here, tummy is touchy today, something lite is in order. Perhaps some soup and crackers will suffice for today. OH, the pumpkin muffins were tasty this morning at breakfast.

Suzanne, glad you had a safe and successful trip home. Don't you wonder why people ill come look at a house that is outside their comfort zone, taking up everyone's time?? Hoping soon the right person will come see, fall in love and make a good offer.

Heidi, glad to know you are less than 24 hours away from your pain mediation. Just what is a paw paw tree??

TAMI, what would you and the boys be doing if it were not raining? I imagine keeping them occupied and happy indoors is not easy.

June, looks like you saved son a good amount of money, and got free firewood for daughter in the deal. I do hope your children appreciate all you do for them, it seems more than most parents would do. they are indeed lucky to have you.

Rolanda, anything happening at the house site? Do you drive by daily to check for progress? Is it close enough to do that, even??

Cyn, when I see "timber' I think of a forest, trees, logs, not products made of wood. so imagine the mental picture at mention of your timber blinds hehehe.

HI BEAN, BYE BEAN, glad you popped in for a short visit.

More later, I have forgotten what else I read already. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

MizT.... A Pawpaw is the largest fruit native to North America. It's a relative of the Papaya. The fruit is supposed to taste like, and have the texture of banana custard. It has too short a shelf life to ever be sold in grocery stores, but can occasionally be found in farmer's markets if it's consumed the same day it's picked. A big one can weigh up to a pound. In the '90's scientists discovered that the Pawpaw has some interesting anti-cancer qualities and they're now using it to try to produce a cancer cure. In the last decade, Pawpaws have become immensely popular and the trees (usually getting to a maximum height of 15 to 25 ft. tall) have become available fairly easily. They are slow growing, though. I put one in 8 years ago, and it is 5 ft tall now, and has set fruit for the first time. Last year was the first time it flowered. This one I just got is already 3 ft. tall. I got the other one as a seedling (all that was available 8 years ago.).

The fair Rolanda will be visiting our shores for the June Long Weekend. I will be having a BBQ at my place - giving Broni a well-earned break from hosting them, but don't worry Broni will be here.
I hope to have it on Sunday 10th June.
Send me a PM for further details. If you're on FB, I will post it as an Event with more detail.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible!
