Miz T, I just slice berries on a slice of bread and top it with low calorie sweetener, and I don't put another slice of bread on top. Yum ... I think I'll pay a visit to Heidi.

MizT: Strawberries with angel food cake, whipped cream and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. I actually use frozen berries when not in season & puree some of them & mix the vinegar in the puree. YUM!!

On what kind of bread, Theresa? Some nice, warm French bread could be delightful. Sourdough could be very interesting with strawberries, probably a bit like Suzanne's balsamic vinegar touch.

Hmm...now I need to remember to eat before i come here.. strawberry shortcake... I used to make the best ... so MUCH butter.. perfect for lovers of shortbread

My birthday present [from me] arrived yesterday and spent far too many hours downloading books onto my 3G wiifi Kindle. Lots of classics and the odd mystery, philosophy.. Now of course I'm getting nothing done.. sitting around reading..

Thoroughly recommend the Readershop..next day delivery.

Afternoon.
Am just back from doing the Grocery Shop on the way home, before that I had been to Millers (Ladies Clothing Store) and coffee with my sister.
Skin Man appt went well, no new problems.. come back in 6 months. 7th Nov 10.15am.

Bought PJ's, 2 tops (1 L sleeve, 1 3/4 sleeve), and a zip up Windcheater Jacket. All on Special $20 or under.. so am happy with my Retail Therapy.

Time to put the Groceries away, and have some lunch..

Hi all!
It's funny because I don't actually hate the squishy thing. I use it as a prelude to retail therapy. I always go to the Chermside branch and then it's just another bit further to the shopping centre. Of course, having endured the indignity of being squished, I feel the need to indulge myself.

Theresa, I'm glad to hear that you and hubby had a good talk. I hope it works out for you both. You have both been through a tough few years.

Evening all,
I've been reading but was holding the baby so couldn't post. Yay Rolanda! Great news!!!

MizT, I hope the weather eases up so you don't have too many achies..

Cyn and Vicki, don't think I'm ever going to have a squishy test. Mine are full of cysts and I'm not sure what squishing them would do. I've read that there is a chance of the cysts becoming malignant, but squishing them might pop them! Well, I don't actually know if that is possible, but it sounds like a good excuse to me!

Another batch of flowers done! 42 this time, that makes a total of 68 - nowhere near enough. Tomorrow I'm going to the school to teach the kids how to do it. That should be fun - not. But since I figure that's about a quarter of what they're going to need, I'll show them so they can make the next batch. My kids say they are helping and they sort of are. I do the folding and the wiring and they pull out the petals. About 5 each including yesterday....

MizT, I thought you might be interested in this as it has similarities to your problem, but I was surprised to read how big the privets they are talking about can get.

Suzy, thanks for the link, enjoyed reading about it. 20 meters, or over 60 feet tall, are bigger than our variety get, they are more like 20 feet tall, but there are many varieties of privet hedge. And, thengs might grow bigger in OZ than they would here, perhaps? Glad they are attacking them, wish them luck in riding the forest of them.

Errands run. I've got Robert bush-hogging pastures. I got really mad at him while we were hooking up the bush hog. He tried to attach the PTO while the tractor was running. I told him if he ever does that again he's fired. That is an absolute no-no. I know too many people who have lost arms while doing that.

Morning all,
Exciting day planned here. I get to swear and then go to the school to make flowers with the kiddies. Not so little kiddies though. Apparently the chorus is only involved in 3 songs and can get unruly during rehearsals so I'm going to keep them entertained - oh joy. I'd much rather have a group of kids who actually want to make flowers! Mine want to help, but only do the easy parts..

It looks like we're going to have another perfect day here. Yesterday was T-shirt weather and today is shaping up to be more of the same.

Theresa - I seem to remember that. Very sad!
Suzy - enjoy your day teaching the kids to make flowers - could be worse.
Vicki - unfortunately, where I get the squishy thing done is in the building right next to the Care Facility where my Mum was and where she died - all in the Redlands Hospital Complex. So it will bring back sad memories. Usually if I have to drive down that road, I studiously don't look in that direction. But, no doubt I will follow up with coffee and retail therapy at Vic Point.

Hi everyone! Sitting around at work waiting for 4:30 to roll around. Can you tell I'm not really busy? I might even do some of today's sudoku puzzles.

This weekend I'm going to visit my mum on Saturday for our usual banking/shopping/lunch day. On Sunday, we are taking MIL out for Mothers Day/Birthday lunch. She turns 88 on Sunday ... getting slower, absent minded etc. Actually that sounds like me ... getting slower, absent minded etc.

Greetings, Everyone!

Rolanda, Suzy and Gail, too bad you didn't win the lottery. I know you would have shared!

Tami, I also though your great-nephew was small. It's all relative, I guess. (D's were just under and just over 8 pounds.)

Broni, I hope all is going well as you and your cousin work out living arrangements! It will just take a bit of time and everything will run smoothly! How is the job going?

MizT, keeping fingers crossed that your name goes on the short list for the senior housing! Will they let you know periodically - or will you just suddenly be notified when a space opens for you?

Suzy, I'm glad you were able to clear up Alie's absences with the math teacher! We had similar difficulties with the Geometry teacher the year my Mom died, which was soon after D had been out of school for a few days for a music competition. He was also the head basketball coach, was insulting to some of the students, and wouldn't listen to our explanation. We were ALL very glad when that school year ended!

MizT, I also wondered about Heidi's IH making his own travel arrangements!

Heidi, I hope you leg is better, but still sore enough to feel justified in seeing the doctor!

Suzanne, keeping fingers crossed!

Theresa, I'd like to join with the others who are so glad you and your hubby had a talk and decided to give it another chance. You have been through SO much, that I just think you and he haven't had time to tend to your own and each other's needs. Hopefully, the lines of communication (going BOTH ways) are fully open now! Feel free to share concerns and grievances here any time. We're all friends here with ears and shoulders, and that's what friends are for.

Heidi, the strawberries sound yummy! I don't think I would even dip them in sugar (though chocolate would certainly be tempting)!

Theresa, I haven't ever had a strawberry sandwich, but I would entertain the idea.

My Mom made a biscuit/scone like two-layer strawberry shortcake. I never made it for my family, as I wanted it to be a special treat at Grandma's for our Ds. As I was growing up, I often prepared it for the oven, but don't remember the recipe. I wonder if one of my siblings has it. (Can you tell my mouth is watering?)

Yummm, Heidi, your strawberries continue until the freeze! Are you in zone 6 or zone 7? We're in zone 5, so can't grow many things you and MizT can grow, including that azalea you mentioned last week.

Suzy, if I were there, I'd ask for a refresher on making those flowers and give you a hand! I hope the kids get excited about it and make a lot!

Gail, so glad to hear results of blood test were so good!

Rolanda, Cyn, and all who have a mother in heaven, we can still honor our mothers on Mother's Day. Just think of it as a long distance celebration. Who knows, maybe our Moms/Mums have met each other and will be watching over us?

Rolanda, thanks for reporting in on your visit to the skin doc!

Here's the rest:

The squishy thing appointment is early next month for me. It was in May for years, but we realized it was scheduled within a day or two of middle grandie's birthday, and we usually try to visit, so I changed it. Then D told me May was a very busy month for them and we shouldn't plan on coming. We found out the beginning of this week (by accident) that D and family are at Disney World. Two years ago (2 months after my knee replacements) we went with them. They didn't even tell us they were going this time. (Yes, I'm a bit peeved about the situation.)

Suzy, what a perfect way to read the comments - while holding a sweet granddaughter!. I hope the flower-making activity at school went well!

Theresa, thank you for reminding us of the Nova Scotia mining disaster. You would think that technological advances would make mining safer. Oh, wait, MEN run the companies and want to make every cent they possibly can, so safety isn't as high a priority as it might be with different management.

Vicki, enjoy your slow day at work! I hope the weekend events with your Mum and your MIL are enjoyable!

It's getting later than I thought, so I should head to bed. Sending lots of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and for all to share!

Tami, I didn't think your great nephew was small. He was bigger than I was, both my kids were and Tahli - who has officially doubled her birth weight! She is just a tad over 11 pounds at 11 weeks.

Theresa, I feel for the families for whom it probably still feels like yesterday.

Julie, Alie's math teacher is also rude to students but did listen to my explanation. I even unknowingly made him look silly by telling Alie a story in front of him about a girl I went to school with who asked a lot of questions, many of them 'dumb'. I told her that half the class laughed at how dumb the questions were and the other half pretended not to listen to the answer to the question they had wanted to ask but weren't game. I finished the story by pointing out that this girl's aggregate at the end of high school was in the top 5% of the state. Apparently this teacher uses the 'dumb' word a lot, though not 'you're dumb', rather, if you did it this way you're dumb.

Cyn, imagine we are with you - I'll have a skim milk cappuccino please - and hopefully our cyber thoughts will help.

The kids went nuts over the flowers! I couldn't keep up and ran out of supplies!! I had to run off to the shop in the middle...

Squishy thing booked for next Thursday. Don't worry, I'll manage. It's more thinking about the place being so close that gets to me.
I went to my sister's place this afternoon and raided her roses - not a whole lot available, but got enough to take when Karin and I go to the cemetery tomorrow. We'll definately be doing some retail therapy afterwards because the cemetery at Mt Gravatt is very, very close to Garden City, one of the larger shopping centres in Brisbane.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Tomorrow you will have to make your own coffee. I don't think I will be on this site at all. I am chaperoning a field trip for Dylan. We have to be at school at 5:30 to leave for Disney. We won't be home until about 11:00 pm and I will be going to sleep.

Dylan is happy. He gets to miss school today. My parents are picking him up and taking him to the doctor and hopefully the cast will come off. I could not get a sub for today and tomorrow. After the doctor, they are picking Mitchell up at school and then all 4 of them are going out to lunch.

Went to the doctor last week for a check up. All is well but she wants me to go for the squishy test. I have managed to avoid it so far but think I will go this summer. It is time. I just hate the fact that I am "the age" where you need to start getting all these test.

I'm off to see the orthopedic surgeon in 20 minutes. I spoke to IH on the phone yesterday and told him about this appointment this morning. He was impressed that I'd gotten it so fast. He thought that I'd only have to go see the surgeon and he'd "pop the pin right out". I tried to explain to him that a) there was no pin, it was a plate and screws, and b) it would have to be done in surgery under full anesthesia. He just doesn't get it. He's never been injured and has no idea what it's about.
