Theresa i am with Heidi & Tami.. I would be finding ways to bump the one on the finger. Hope the doc is spot on with his diagnosis and gets rid of it quickly.

Heidi I'm glad you've seen sense about the crutches.

What are leftovers? A few mentions have been made of them .. some kind of foreign policy perhaps? I'm about to hit the kitchen and do some cooking.. in bulk. Bolognaise sauce [made with turkey mince] should do a couple of meals and a chicken taco type mix which should do for taco's and quesadillas. Also bought up plenty of beans for a big bean salad.. easy & filling.. That said I'd best hop to and get onto it..
Love and hugs to all.
ps..looking forward to your video Julie

Oh gosh - now to remember what I read!
Suzy - I loved the letter to the editor. Glad you got a day's work, hope it leads to more. And i hope they sort out Tahli's reflux problem soon.
Gail - I know you'll miss them but they have to spread their wings. Not quite that far, I hear you mutter, tearily??
Theresa - one of my grandies, Maddy, is very thin - and she's a picky eater. She's a fruitaholic, which I suppose is better that other things. She hates food mixed together, like even spag bol - has to have a bowl of spaghetti and a bowl of bolognese sauce, and even the parmesan seperate. - Weird child. But when she has a growth spurt, you can't fill her.

Heidi - sorry you have been in so much pain. Hope it eases soon and that IH gives you the help required. I can't imagine you being limited by a wheelchair, must be difficult.
Tami - thanks for the update on Mama. I do hope she will improve soon.
Bean - I was amused at the story of the dog and the mouse and the bone!
There was something else to say but I forgot it, sorry.

Hi, Everyone! Somehow it got late quickly tonight, so just a glance at posts and maybe a comment or two.

Gail, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for you! At least Chloe and Trent will only be a Skype call away! Frequent emails, including pictures, will also help. Remember, we're here for you if you need a shoulder!

June, I hope the Fashion Parade goes well on Friday! You put in a lot of effort and time - all volunteer. You're amazing!

Suzy, I hope your twisted ankle feels better. Good luck getting Tahli's symptoms sorted out!

Heidi, lots of good advice about keeping your foot elevated! I'm glad you thought of the wheel chair! I hope IH and Robert can continue to cooperate. That would certainly help your recovery! {{{HUGS}}}

June, I had forgotten that Laura had ulcers! Is she now symptom-free?

Tami (and Michella), thank you for the update on Mamacita!

Bean, I'm so glad to hear how much you enjoyed your weekend conference!

Theresa, what a relief that your lumps are benign cysts. It's kind of good news, and now the weather for the day seems delightful! Enjoy the rest of the day!

Hubby has a cyst on his left thumb top knuckle and I have one on my left pinkie top knuckle. The grandies usually want to see them whenever we go for a visit. Our primary care physician told me to have hubby whack my little finger cyst with a book. I'm a wimp and also don't want it to affect my being able to play the cello. The dermatologist wrote a referral to an orthopedic specialist. I hate to do something since it really isn't bothering me. The dermatologist also said I have a corn on my left index finger. (I thought it was a wart.) Part of it was cut off, and I was told to get corn patches to try to remove it.

Suzy, thanks for mentioning Stella. I'm a bit confused and think she is very sick, but then wondered if it was her son. Was the post on Easy or that other site?

Bean, so your dogs are "mousers!" That will be nice if they can keep your house mouse-free!

I was reading book reviews in the Sunday Chicago Tribune. A literary magazine called "Granta" from the UK was very favorably reviewed. The reviewer said: The memoir "Stevenage" by Gary Younge, about his beleaguered hometown is a gray swirl of melancholy and reportage. Brenda, have you heard of Gary Younge or his writing? Is there only one Stevenage in the UK?

Sorry I was so unclear Julie. Stella posted on Monday that she was sick. Her son posted today that he had spent all day in the ER and was travelling by ambulance to another hospital. So poor Stella is dealing with being sick herself and a sick/injured son. Wish he'd been more informative.

Julie, there is only one Stevenage in the UK. The old town (lovely part of town) was a staging post and is actually on a roman road. The New Town was built after WW2 to house people from London after the blitz. As much as I don't particularly like Stevenage it cannot be called grey as there are lots of trees and green areas. I have never heard of Gary Younge but will look out for the book.

Just looked him up on Amazon. From Barbados. Grew up in Stevenage but now lives on Chicago.
I am tired. Everything ready for tomorrow. About 18 outfits. Two 1880 Bustles, then dresses and coats up to 1970. I then go back to underwear.Bloomers, camisole, combinations (all in one bloomers and camisole). Then some night dresses made about 1900 and others up to 1960.
As I will be doing commentary I will not be doing the dressing so I have made them all lots of lists and grouped all the clothes together.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself. Coffee maker broke so I will have to buy a new one. I can still use this one, the on button broke. I have to set the timer to automatically turn the coffee on. Inconvenient, but it works.

Bean, like the fact that the dogs get rid of mice for you. I think Harley would do the same. He loves to chase lizards and squirrels and you should see the way he stalks anything flying in my house. He has caught a moth and a couple of flies already.

Broni, glad you are stopping by and at least saying hi.

June, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I hope all goes smoothly and nobody ruins any of your dresses.

No updates from Stella or her son. :( Don't like not knowing.

Big hugs Broni!

If I get any more work I might have to buy a whole new set of clothes. Not because I'll need them for work but because I won't fit into the ones I have. Today Don got me chocolate, the kind with dandruff in it (those of you who know the latest ad know which one I mean), porterhouse steak and cheesecake. Oh and wine...

June he was born in the Hospital in Hitchin, was brought up in Stevenage and spent a total of 6 weeks in Barbados when he was 4. His mother probably came from Barbados originally.
Hope your fashion parade goes well tomorrow and that no damage is done to the clothing.

Morning friends, a really busy day yesterday. I did get here to read but not sure I posted any comments. I think I over did it yesterday. Was feeling good when I got to wal mart, only needed a few items, and decided I would walk. I did not take into consideration how large that store was or how scattered my few items were located. I was at the back of the grocery section, for my last item on the list, headed for checkout when my hip played up. I really needed to sit for a few minutes, no place to sit till after i made it to front, checked out and got to the entrance lobby and a bench. Hip has complained ever since. Back has joined it.

It is good that I slept last night, meds worked long enough for that. time for coffee, more meds and then I need to get back to the tire saga. I did get one new tire on the rim for the spare, must call roadside assist, have them now put the new tire where the flat, then take that flat to the tire store, buy a second tire, and have it installed on side of the opposite front. So another busy day, most of this dependent on getting hip/back easy. Oh, forgot to say, the back took up the cry in sympathy of the hip i suppose hehehe.

I just went bak and corrected 10 typos, 8 were because of missing Cs.

Hugs to each of you, with extras. I hope to be back later.

Morning all.

Bean, we used to have a dog who was a much better mouser than any of our cats. The cats would literally hide beside furniture and watch the dog do their job.

Fingers crossed for a perfect show, June. I wish I could be there to see it!

Broni, what can I say? Love and hugs flying to you. We're here if and when you need us.

Suzy, it's nice to be spoiled sometimes. Your hubby has been very nice ... send him here!

My microwave has bit the dust so I guess a trip to Wallmart is in order. TTFN.

Angel has always been a mouser. So has Mason. But when Angel had her puppies she decided to start them young as mousers. Daisy is now a better mouser than any cat, and Sandy is almost as good. Katy prefers watching and stealing the soggy mice from them. I do have mice around here because of all the spilt bird seed.

Sounds like all-in-all you are feeling better today Heidi, except for the throat. Take care of yourself, girl.

I was sitting outside with a coffee watching a chipmunk again. He was in the birdfeeder and his cheeks got so full they looked like they would burst. I slowly moved closer and closer until I was just over a foot away, talking to him all the time. Some day he will be my friend!!!

Another day of problems with Walmart .... grrrrr. Hubby went there to get a microwave. They only had ONE left and that was a demo model. He asked if he could buy it at perhaps a slightly reduced cost. Sales associate went to check with her manager, came back 10 minutes later - no, they could not sell it. So, they cannot sell a demo model that they have none left of in stock??????? I am getting really frustrated with that store. Hubby went to the only other store locally that would carry them and the ones there were like approaching the $200.00 mark. I don't think so!!! So now we have to get one from Ottawa, about an hour's drive away. So hubby is taking the day for himself and getting one, and checking out bookstores (Chapters) while he is there. Bookstores are one of his favourite places!! He deserves a day off now and then too.

It sounds like you are not enjoying the wonders of Wally World, Theresa. The Wall-creatures aren't the only human oddities there. The "associates" can be a real trip. Why don't they just call them "employees" like everyone else who gets a pay check? And whatever happened to "The customer is always right."????

I need to get dressed and run some errands. IH hadn't paid the homeowners insurance or the electric bill. They're threatening to turn the power off at 8 am tomorrow. And of course, IH went out of town today. There are a couple of other places I need to hit, too. At least all of the places I need to stop at have drive-thru's, so I don't have to get out of the truck.

IT isn't just Walmart who will not sell demo stuff. A few years ago I went to an electrical shop to buy a small TV for one of the kids for xmas. They had at least 10 of the same TVs on display but had none in stock! I went somewhere else and bought one.

Don't you just hate poor customer service? It might not be an expensive item, but we did have to work for the money and at least expect them to help us at the store if we need it. One of the banks in town here always gave me a hard time. One time I had had it and both hubby and I transferred our RSP's and bank accounts and other accounts to another bank. D also closed all accounts except an education one for the kids. I may not be a millionaire or even close to it, but my concerns should be addressed as if I were. Our new bank just opened a branch in our town and they at least treat us with respect.

It was the cheapest, MizT. The next one up was significantly higher in price.

It has turned quite muggy outside. The AC unit should be installed on Saturday. Tomorrow has the potential to be a rainy day with a risk of a thunderstorm in the evening. It's not even June and already I'm complaining about the humidity.

Hi all. Long weekend ahead for me. Tomorrow is a pupil-free day and Monday is no school. One of my more obnoxious students came to my room during a different class period. I asked her to leave. Before she left she cussed out one of the boys. I wrote her up, as I am supposed to, and she gets to start summer vacation extra early. She is suspended for 8 days for "habitual defiance" and there happens to be 8 school days left. Hurray for me.

I am not particularly glad she is suspended, but she does have a big mouth and can be a pain. She is one of my more challenging students. She has been in trouble all year. At this point, they get long vacations to prevent end-of-year problems. I also broke up a fight between two boys today. I did not get between them physically, but my presence, and whistle, stopped it. Don't know what the outcome of that was.

Greetings, Friends!

Suzy, you were not unclear in your post about Stella and her son, but I was unclear in reading it. I didn't see a post on Easy from her, and didn't see anything on fb, unless I didn't go back far enough. Do you know which son was in the ER?

"Granta" is not a book, but a literary magazine. I'm not sure how big it is or even where it can be purchased. I was just intrigued reading the review. It's interesting that Mr. Younge's piece was written several years ago; I assumed that the submissions were more current.

June, I am forever in awe of all that you do! Your preparation for the Fashion Parade obviously took hours - letting the women try clothes, making sure everything was clean and ironed, sorting and organizing the clothes for each "model", deciding an order, writing a script, even suggestion appropriate accessories - and all as a volunteer. I hope it is/was well received and you were able to enjoy it as much as I'm sure the guests did!

Broni, it's good to hear that you are well! I hope everything in your life (home and work) are doing well!

Tami, what a day you had! Enjoy your child-free (at school) day tomorrow and the long weekend! I'm so sorry you had to deal with a fight and the defiant girl. Hopefully tomorrow will be quiet and easy for you!

MizT, you certainly got a lot accomplished yesterday. No wonder you were worn out! I hope that whatever you chose to do today was less wearing! Did you get your new tire?

Heidi, I'm so glad to hear that your leg is feeling better, but not so good about your throat. Do you have anything at home that you could take - other than the popsicles, which sound like a good idea! Leave it to IH to leave things undone and bills unpaid! I suppose he's patting himself on the back for being around for the day of surgery. Remember to take care of yourself and not do too much!

Theresa, how fun to be taming a chipmunk! Much more fun than your dealings with Walmart! How do they expect to earn money if they don't have things in stock or have "associates" who can actually do something? I understand your frustration! I just realized, they probably had none of the cheaper microwaves in stock so that people would buy the more expensive one out of frustration.

Vicki, how nice that your 4-day work weeks will soon be here! Thursday is the new Friday!

Theresa, I hope if you get some rain that it will eliminate some of the humidity from the air. We are very much in need of rain here. There were actually fire warnings today because of the heat (97* F, I think), dryness and hot, strong winds blowing.

Last night (5:30 to 5:15) at water aerobics class a male and female duck came flying over our heads quite low and landed in the shallower section of the pool just beyond us. I kept telling them not to drink the chlorine water, but they didn't listen. In fact, they bobbed their heads as if looking for something to eat below the surface. Today I went to c

Oops, it ran long today. Here's the rest:

Today I went to class again (12:30 - 1:15), and the male duck came back, actually landing in the deeper area, but going over to the shallower to swim around. I had to walk within about 10 feet of him when I left and kept up a quiet conversation as I approached to let him know that there was a pond with better water that he had flown over to get to the pool. He appeared to listen, but didn't leave. It just occurred to me that the pond water level may be very low, or it may be dry because of our dry winter and spring.
