I forgot to say something about June's nightmare.
How horrible! Those creeps think they can do anything they want to anybody, and get away with it.
This is one major argument for having dogs. You don't have the freedom to pack up at a whim and travel, but you feel a LOT safer in your own home.

There have been a few burglaries in my neighborhood recently. It has been happening during the day. Seems whoever it is is watching to see when people go out. I am glad Harley is in my house. His bark will scare most people away. He is big, but sounds even bigger.

Yipee Cyn. It's always a relief.

Hubby just got home from the fair. A lot of the taller rides had closed down because of lightning.

Totally agree Heidi and Tami - Jewel may only be a small dog but she makes enough noise for the neighbourhood to hear if a stranger comes too close to our house. I always know when someone is reading our power meters!

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. :)
Yesterday was Rob's birthday, and we were meeting for an (unrelated) live show - we went to see the Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam show "Moonshadow". Also had a very yummy dinner! It was a long day, especially since the football was on and we came out with the crowd, so had trouble getting a seat on the train! But it was fun - despite the weather ... wet, wet, WET!
Today we'll be meeing the girls for a birthday dinner (Japanese), and tomorrow meeting our son for dinner at Scienceworks ... it's almost like having a life! ;)
Hope you're all happy. :D

Tami, they did not wait till we were out. I was at home. Yes, I always felt safer when we had a dog. The worry this time is that they have taken the spare keys to both cars as well as the house keys and the control of the house alarm. We have changed the locks on the doors. I do not think they would want to take the Getz and as long as Ken's mobile is in the house the Blue Tooth in my car rings on the mobile if the car is turned on.
I think I will bowl this afternoon (with the men) I need practice for Tuesday when I play the semifinal for the singles.

June, that is even scarier, to be home when they break in. Having grown up in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, I am in the habit of not leaving doors unlocked. I live in what is considered a safe area, but I still do not take a chance. Too many crazy people down here. During the 70's and 80's, Miami was one of the biggest drug areas. Came in by sea.

Good maEn everyone!!
Been under the weather with my allergies the last few days. Darrell was even a bit congested. We both feel better though.
TTT: I hope you guys are careful, that is scary!! Glad you have Harley though.

I've not been here a lot, been reading on occasion. Not much going on with the sale of the house. Had a couple of showings, nothing in a week or two.
Please know I think of you all and pray for you. Love, hugs, healing vibes to all with extras. Will try to be here on a more consistent basis.
Take care all!!

I keep the front of the house locked at all times but seldom lock the back (screen) door because of the dog, only when I have a shower. I do get annoyed by my kids and grandies coming in and out of our front door and leaving it unlocked. When everyone is here, we invariably end up in the outdoor area at back and if the front is unlocked, our bedroom is just inside the door. That is where my purse, jewelry etc are. And at the same time, the dog's not on guard - all of her favourite people are there with her!

June, that is terrifying! (I know) did you call the police? And did they bother to come if you did? Crook locks or some other double up security might help you feel less stress over the cars, but I'm not sure what you'd do about the rest.

Hi, Everyone! I'm running late tonight, so I'm just glancing at post on page 429. I will try to make a few comments along the way.

Rolanda, I'm sure you and Peter are enjoying the daily changes as your house is built. Are you keeping a written journal?

June, I'm not surprised that the Fashion Parade was so well received! You poured your heart into it! I'm SO sorry that the "high" of the day was followed by such a horrible low. The sense of violation when someone comes into your house and steals from you is so large, and the loss of money, identification and cards and having to replace them is immense and so frustrating! {{HUGS}}

Suzy, hooray for a good day of teaching! Wishing you many more!

Tami, so glad you were able to get home early and "work on your lesson plans" at home! Thank you for getting the update on Stella and Ian! (None of that information comes up when I go to her page on fb, so I had no idea what was happening.)

Heidi, doing too much too soon is not a good idea. I know, what else can you do when IH takes off and leaves errands that must be take care of. I'm glad you recruited Robert for his help, but it was still too much for you to be doing. I hope you were truly able to rest when you got home! The urgent care facility may be the best approach to changing your dressing. You didn't mention, so I hope your throat is better today!

Theresa, I'm sorry you weren't able to go to the fair. Has the weather calmed down there? We could use some rain, if you'd like to steer it this way.

Tricia, you had another very productive day and took care of quite a few errands! I hope you don't pay for it tomorrow with increased pain!

Cyn, hooray for the good results from your squishy thing!

Heidi, if you get to the movie this weekend, I hope you enjoy it and find a comfortable way to sit! I read a good review of Men In Black III.

Tami, I hope your hubby and the Beasties enjoyed The Three Stooges!

I need to get to bed, as it's been a long day! I'll read page 430 tomorrow. Sending , , positive thoughts, prayers, and healing vibes out to all of you!

Evening all,
Dramatics here this evening. So glad we only ever have to be a teenager once!!

I'll have to work out the words to 'Fifteen' because it explains the dramatics perfectly. I'd have to edit it though or the hall monitor would chuck me out. I said it's a bit weird to have to have a radio version of a song written when you're 15. Hubby said 'the girls have always written things that are surprisingly mature for their ages'. Can't win!!

Morning.

The storm did not materialize in our home town, but it did at the fair which is only a half hour drive from here. Haven't checked the news yet to see if there was any damage in Ottawa. I guess the man upstairs knows how afraid I am of storms, so spared me that!!! Haven't heard of any tornadoes either. Beautiful sunny day so far today.

Good news Theresa, glad you were spared. We often get nasty winds that miss town because we're kind of on a hill. But the winds we've had lately have been all over. It's nice and quiet tonight though.. hope it stays that way for you!

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Someone in another neighborhood saw a strange person and called the police. They came and ended up arresting 5 people in an older model grey 4 door. We think that is the crew from our area also as the grey car kept being discussed. We are still going to keep our eyes open but feel a little better.

Julie, I also could not see anything on her page. I am friends with her son and received updates from other people. Jane was nice enough to copy/paste all Stella's messages into one for me. It is strange we could only see part of it.

Tami, that's what happens here. They catch 2 or 3 guys and break ins drop by 95%, until they get out of jail, which seems to take about 6 months...

I hope your judges keep them in for longer!

Stella posted 3 or 4 times eventually, I saw them on the wall, but in reverse order for some reason. Her son has just posted that he is still on IV's. Not surprising considering the amount of time he went without food and water - that was criminal!

Nearly 2:30 pm and just got up. I was able to change the bandage myself last night since the blood had finally dried up. I'm gonna take it easy today and do NOTHING, not even the movie. I think I'll wait for Tuesday when the crowds have died down and go to the matinee. There's a theater near the hospital that only charges $3 admission for matinee performances.
Throat is still a bit rough, but improving. The leg still hurts but it now lets me sleep more than 2 hours at a time. We do have progress.

I've never understood why courts are so lenient with thieves. They seem to give repeat offenders a slap on the wrist, a minimum sentence, and have them back on the streets in a few months committing more robberies. I'm a believer in making their punishment so severe that they never want to go back to jail. Ever.

It's Dandelion Festival weekend and I think I'll give it a miss. I am just too tired and hot to go anywhere but to bed early.

Tornadoes touched down northwest of Montreal, which is about a 2 hour drive from us. Millions of dollars of damage was done, but no one was hurt. One of the things destroyed was a church that was over 200 years old.

A teenager near Ottawa was struck by lightning yesterday and is in critical condition. He was biking with his female friend when the storm started. They stopped under a tree (one of hundreds and hundreds) to put on their rain gear. The lightning hit that tree and him. How ironic is that?

Hope everyone is well. Hubby is barbecuing, but I don't want anything ... I am just not hungry yet. I think I'll have some raw vegetables and fruit later on.

Catch you all later (Tami broke it!!!!)

You keep confusing Tami and me, Theresa. I consider that a compliment. I also like giving her the blame.

Leg is feeling good right now. It's had a lot of rest today. I do have to go out once tomorrow. It's for a Lions board meeting... with a meal. I'll be able to keep my leg up the whole time.

Very pleased to say Chloe and Trent made it to Darwin in very good time, choosing to drive straight through yesterday rather than stop overnight five hours out. They did the trip in three days with not one problem. Happy lives to them, and hopefully Dad and I will be able to get up there soon xoxo

Greeting to All! It looks like a relatively quiet day on SA.

Suzy, I hope the drama has calmed down! How has Tahli been doing? I hope she's able to hold down her formula and is a happier cherub!

Theresa, I'm glad the storm passed you by, but hope your family was spared from being drenched at the fair! I hope your pleasant sunny day lasted until evening! How awful for those near Montreal who had to deal with the tornado! Was the 200-year-old church completely destroyed, or is there hope to save it - or part of it? Prayers for the young man struck by lightning.

June, the fact that the thief was in your house while you were in your house is very frightening! I hope he is caught and all of your money and other belongings are recovered!

Tami, thanks for the update on Ian and Stella! What a difficult few days for both of them! Hope you have a great and restful weekend!

Heidi, I'm glad to hear that you were able to change the dressing on your leg and it is feeling somewhat better, as is your throat! I think it's a good plan to go to the matinee on Tuesday when there will be fewer people going to see the movie, and the admission price will be reduced.

Rolanda, that is not good that your hubby shared his man flu with you! I hope you both will soon feel better!

I am about to head to bed. My wish is for a pleasant, calm-weather day for everyone tomorrow. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, healing vibes, and positive thoughts for all of you!

Hi Julie. The 200 year old church was reduced to rubble.

Off to grab a coffee outside. I got up early because a few of the cats did not want me to sleep anymore. Just wait until they're trying to sleep this afternoon .......

Tahli is teething. That means her first nappy rash, low grade fevers and general crankiness!

Theresa, how horrible. I hope the boy hit by lightning makes it!

Heidi, enjoy the movie. Hubby and I went to see the Avengers last Monday. It's only $7.70 (really cheap for here) and there were only about 5 people in the theatre with us.

Next time we'll probably go to see Men in Black 3.

I bought the second book in the Hunger Games series today. I'd just started a PD James book so it will have to wait a few days.

I work the coffee van tomorrow morning and I teach on Wednesday. At a school with a really really bad reputation. Not only are the kids apparently monsters, but the teachers apparently are not supportive of each other.
