Good Morning friends. I almost slept the clock around! I was home by 7:30 pm, sat in my recliner and remember nothing till 11 pm when I woke up and went to bed hehehe.

ENT (ear, nose and throat) doc yesterday had no clues why I keep having fungal infections in mouth or sores under my dentures along with the fungal. He did swab and scrape area to send off for a look see and a culture. He did NOT prescribe any more thrush medication, but said if it got worse before weekend, phone in for a refill. So it is wait again.

Vicki, enjoy the girl time at baby shower, it sounds like fun. I hope your Mom finds an assisted living place she likes.

CynB, so funny but true, yes, we and our childhood sweethearts all age the same number of years, though aging is genteler with a few of them. But if you dream about him, I wager it will be the young Joe Cool, not the old man you just met hehehe.

Back is complaining, I am off to recliner, after meds and some rub on. I had a misstep yesterday, did not fall, but I jarred everything in my body, especially my back. I must remember i cannot balance on one foot and push a heavy box with the other, as I could in the past.

Hugs and more hugs, till later.

Today is my FIL's 88th birthday. He's still in marvelous health, walks daily, swims almost daily and still regularly plays golf and goes dancing. And his mind is still as sharp as it's ever been. A very lucky man.

Good morning Heidi. My FIL is also 88, he'll be 89 this year. He has trouble walking, but otherwise seems to be okay, including his mind. With him it is only a matter of time though before he has to go to a nursing home - that's what his doctor told my sister-in-law ... that is going to be one battle royale.

BTW Heidi, about this demented homicidal maniac that is loose here in Canada, the newspaper had a long story about him and one of the bits was:
"Magnotta has also written several lengthy blog posts that appear online, including a 2009 piece entitled "How to Completely Disappear and Never Be Found." The blog offers a six-step process to shedding an identity, including cutting ties with all friends and acquaintances and acquiring false identification."

Do you think he'll ever be found?

If he never commits another crime, he could disappear for good. But criminals tend to get c0cky once they've gotten away with a major crime, and commit more. His picture is now out there, as well as his description. The odds are that he will make a mistake. Any fool can write an article, but that doesn't guarantee that his theories are perfect.

I just looked at some pictures of him. Delicate features. You know, if he plucked his eyebrows a little, and wore a wig, he could pass for a woman long enough to elude capture. This guy could vanish. But the stories I read say he has a long history of posting videos of him torturing cats and kittens. This guy will slip up. In his case, I hope the police have to shoot him while trying to apprehend him. I don't believe Canada has capitol punishment. Magnotta needs to be removed from society permanently.

I hope you're right, Heidi. The last thing this world needs is another waste of skin. No, we don't have capital punishment. We prefer just to leave them in prison so the taxpayers can pay for it.

I figure that if you're not going to have capital punishment, prison needs to be so nightmarish that nobody ever wants to go there. I think it's a crime when honest taxpayers have to support lowlife scum in a manner far superior than they would have outside prison.

I got to the pharmacy and picked up my pain meds.
I still haven't been to the movie, but I really don't have the energy to go yet. With my luck, by the time I have the energy to go, it won't be playing here any more.

I hope the pain meds help, Heidi. You had surgery, so I think it's normal to feel drained. Besides that, you have probably done more than you should have the last few days.

Thunderstorms in the area again, but they look like they may be skimming a tiny bit to the north of us. We REALLY need the rain, though, and the areas to the direct north of us (such as Louisville) need none. They've been having flooding problems. I'm tempting the rain by leaving my truck windows open. That usually lures it in.

HI, Fellow Sudokuaholics! It is only 9:30 p.m. and I have managed to get here. I hope this is or has been a good day for everyone!

Tami, you keep tempting us with your brownies. We'll wait patiently. I'm sure they're good no matter what time of day you offer them to us!

Our temperatures never rose above 60 today, and we had a steady rain all day. Even though the ground was so dry that it was cracking, I think the rain came slowly enough that it could sink in. I think temperatures will rise slowly over the next few days. I suspect our new bushes are happy. Heidi, I hope you get enough rain that your new tree gets a good drink!

MizT, I hope the infection improves and you don't need a prescription refill. I also hope the ENT doctor comes up with some kind of answer for you! I'm glad you got a lot of sleep. You obviously needed it. You've been doing SO much helping, moving, etc. the past few weeks!

Heidi, Happy Birthday to your FIL! It sounds like he's doing very well! He is, indeed, very lucky! I hope he enjoyed his day!

Theresa, if your FIL only has some trouble walking, why does his doctor suggest that he'll need to move to assisted living/nursing home soon? Do you think he's worried about the possibility of him falling - or being able to cook/clean/take care of himself?

Heidi, I'm glad you were able to pick up your pain meds! I hope the movie stays long enough for you to see it! (Around here, the movies usually change on Friday, probably so there are new ones for people to see when they go out on the weekend.)

Tami, I'm sorry it was another crazy day at school! I hope the rest of the year goes smoothly for you!

I'm off to bed, too. It's still raining, and I am a happy person about that. I went out to check the Paulonia (Empress tree) I planted and it's doing beautifully. It should provide a lot of shade for the cows in 2 years. This is a purple/blue flowering tree that can grow up to 15 ft (4.5 meters) a year.

Another beautiful day in downtown Melbourne.
The 'date' I had in the arvo was cancelled which was really good.. I like to be free to do whatever when the sun is shining...

HINT 4 GAIL: If you want the cupboard doors painted make sure you have the paint on hand so next time it is raining you can tell me to get my butt up the mountain and do some work... ok??

Whatever makes anyone think that I am sick of looking for my passport?? Off to get the paper shredder shortly..that will make the job easier..

I am also severly restricting myself on the pc.. do like to put my feet up when I have a coffee and do a puzzle but I don't think I got here at all yesterday.

Theresa I can understand you keeping the doors locked.. I do anyway. In fact I cannot think of a single person that I know whose front door can be opened without a key.. unless the latch is pushed in .. door knobs handles seem to be a thing of the past. Doesn't stop someone if they want to get in tho.. smash a window..or lift a few tiles..

I saw the transit of Venus in 2004 and want to see it again next Wednesday. The Sydney Observatory have sold out of special glasses (I was going to post a pair to you Suzy) so I will set my telescope up for a pin hole view (like the pin hope in the paper and get the reflection. I have chased down the the University near here and they will have telescopes out like last time so I will go there sometime during the day. (will take 15-20 to get there with parking and walking to the venue). All I need now is for it to be a sunny day.

Fingers crossed June, sounds fabulous.

Bit of a blah day today, totally wasted it, not all of my own doing (but gee it was easy to have 'another little stop' now and then!), but I realise the power is mine to schedule my day, not anyone else. No biggie, but it was cathartic for me.

Morning. Grey day here so far, rain expected until Tuesday next week. Cabin fever here I come!

Julie, my FIL's only 'physical' problem is his walking abilities. He has never looked after himself before. His hygiene, etc., is always called into question. My sister-in-law notices that he has the same clothes on with the same stains for a long time. She keeps asking him to change clothing but he says the ones he has on are fine. She also wonders how often he showers. He eats very little, but no one can be there for him 24/7. We just don't think he's taking care of himself. When he has a problem he usually refuses to go to a doctor. He pretty well sits there all day and watches TV or listens to music ... he doesn't do any of the things he used to do. So although he is lucid and there's nothing wrong with his mental abilities, the doctor thinks he should not be living on his own. The family agrees. It's hard to see a once vital person just sitting there all the time. Plus he refuses to sleep downstairs and makes his way upstairs every night. We had set up a bedroom downstairs for my MIL (who will probably never come home now) but he refuses to use it. I think depression is probably a part of his make-up right now. I guess what I'm really just trying to say is that he doesn't look after himself very well.

Bean, I always have kept the doors locked at night, but during the day if I'm in the back yard I will leave the door unlocked just so that I don't have to keep my key with me. From the back yard I can't see the door. I also used to leave it open when I was expecting hubby home so that he didn't have to dig out his keys. But now I just keep it locked all the time. I'm going to have to keep a key hidden outside somewhere in case I lock myself out!!!!

Happy birthday to your grandson, June. My oldest will be 10 next year.

Gail and Bean, days of doing something other than what was planned (especially if they don't involve work) can be really enjoyable. Let's all lift our glasses and toast lazy days!!!!!

Off to have another coffee outside before the rain hits. It's just after 7:30 AM and from the looks of the sky, it will start at any time. TTFN.

Hi Theresa,

Very hard situation you and your family are in with your FIL, the provider of the house, very strong, stubborn, headstrong, self-sufficient,and will not accept help. We all understand how we grew up.
Doesn't help now.

Evening all,
I haven't read yet...

I'm finally home! I was up at 6 to get ready for work, I could probably manage 6.30 but then I couldn't buy myself a cappuccino on the way...That was 3 days work this week and I'm back on Monday for maybe one day, maybe more.

When I finished work I went over town to pick up Alie from school, no coffee today as the other 2 couldn't make it. Came home and gave Dana a little break from Tahli who is teething and was giving her a really hard time. Then a quick change and off to the Lions Changeover Dinner. Alie was supposed to be singing with Emily, but both of them have colds with sore throats. Alie got a trophy though, for her years of performing with Pride. It's really cute. The food was fantastic and the night was long, but okay up until the meal was finished. Then we realised they hadn't done the changeover yet - the whole reason we were there. And they didn't rush it either!!! Thought I was never going to get to leave. My feet are killing me as I rarely get to sit down during the day. For more than 5 minutes anyway.
