We're having a cool, damp day. Very good for the plants. I've stocked up on feeds to last for a bunch of days, since I'm having the next epidural on Monday.

Theresa, thank you for answering for me. After 31 years in their house, my parents have finally realized they don't need all that space and hassle. They have a 3 bed, 2 bath with a garage and pool. They are looking at a 2/2 condo. It will be good to have them close, but I don't know if I want them too close.

Evening all. Boy, what a cool day today. Right now it is only 62F in the kitchen. I actually have a small heater on in the living room to take some of the damp cold away. It's the 1st of June!!!!! I haven't had the AC unit on since it was installed. I have a kitty trying to get on my lap - I think she is looking for a warm spot.

Greetings to all!

Heidi, I'm glad you had a sustained rain and your new tree is doing well! You mentioned that you've agreed to do the weekend puzzles on Easy for the next few weekends. Does that mean you have designed/created them?

June, good for you for getting shopping and so much gninori done! I'm sure the lunch for Rolanda in a couple of weeks will being spectacular! Happy Birthday to your grandson! I hope he's enjoying his school camp!

Bean, it sounds like you're determined to find your passport and doing whatever is necessary to find it. Good for you! I hope it is found sooner, rather than later!

June, I'm impressed that you are determined to see the transit of Venus. Good for you! I'm afraid I haven't done anything special yet to insure that I see it. Time just seems to slip away from me. I guess I'll just need to rely on the internet for my viewing now.

Gail, sometimes you just need a day when you don't accomplish much. I'm sure you'll be back at it tomorrow! Actually, you probably have put in a good day already!

Tami, I am amazed! Your parents' house must be immaculate, up-to-date, and well priced! How nice that they have already had an offer on it! Crossing fingers that everything comes together for them! (Maybe you can help them find a condo a bit further away - or nearer the boys' schools?

Theresa, I'm sorry to hear the state of affairs with your FIL. I think you may have made an accurate diagnosis when you mentioned depression. I'm sure your MIL used to do many of the things that he is finding difficult - deciding when to change clothes, choosing what to wear, doing laundry, etc. He may feel there is no need to worry about hygiene since she is not there with him. Assisted living may help, but I hope he hasn't made this new pattern a habit that will be hard to break.

Suzy, good for you and all your days of teaching! I hope each day is a joy - or at least pleasant! I'm glad the Lions Changeover Dinner was enjoyable, though long. I hope you will get some well-need rest and time OFF your feet over the weekend!

Tricia, if this helps, I comment as I read. If I'm too tired to get to the end of the existing posts, the next day when I come back to the page, a quick review of my comments from the previous day reminds me where I left off. I hope you have had a great and pain-free day!

Theresa, what a great TOPP - a reminder.

Happy Birthday Nola! I hope you have a great day and a fantastic year filled with happiness and good health for you and all family (including extended family) members!

Heidi, I hope the weekend goes well leading up to your epidural! Did you need to do extended shopping for early next week, or do you still have excess for you and animals from your shopping prior to your surgery?

MizT, how frustrating to lose a post! Another hint: I've been trying to remember to save before I hit 'Submit Comment.' That way, if anything goes wrong when I post, I could still save it to a Word document and try to post the next day.

Heidi, I like the way you think - an early showing of Men in Black III followed by meeting IH and his business associate for dinner at one of your favorite restaurants! Great thinking!

It's almost 1:00 here so I will send all of you positive thoughts, healing vibes, wonderful weather, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and

Evening all,
Just starting to read from yesterday...

June, bowling is a lot of exercise. Do you think it keeps you young? Or just aching?

Tami, I hope your parents sell their house quickly. From everything you've said about your parents I don't think you have to worry about them being so close.

Gail, I've been cutting back on my time online too. It does make the day more fulfilling, though I miss my on-line friends.

Heidi, I agree - no shopping on an empty stomach! I buy a tonne of junk food when I do that...

Don't you love dumb criminals? Filming yourself committing the crime???? It's like taking drugs to Bali... everyone knows what's going to happen but the whole country has to jump up and down at the injustice of it all when someone does it anyway and ends up in jail over there. Everyone knows people who film themselves are gonna get caught.

Vicki, how did your visit to the retirement community work out?

I don't agree with the death penalty, no matter what. And it's cheaper to put them in jail for life than to sentence them to death so economics is no justification. I just wish we truly had 'never to be released' in Australia!

Theresa, scare tactics maybe? Have a shower and change your clothes or you will go into care? Kind of mean I guess...

Broni, the same links got me in. Maybe it changed and changed back as a part of the clean up process.

Heidi, I want to see that too. Hopefully hubby and I will have a Monday off together soon...

It's raining here too, but blasted cold!

Julie, I've had a kind of a day off. Went grocery shopping with hubby and Tahli (we're babysitting) and finished Mockingjay - the third book in the Hunger Games series. That means tomorrow I get to get all of the ffuts done before I go back to krow.

Babysitting is 'fun'. She was screaming and no matter what we did she wouldn't stop. Until eventually we changed her nappy/diaper (again), mostly out of desperation, and it worked - even though it didn't need changing!

I decided to bowl today to get more game play before the final on Tuesday. It RAINED. It was no fun bowling in the rain. It was mixed bowls and the men keep playing where the women would have come in. The other semi final was played today and on Tuesday I will be playing the lady who has been club champion about 7 times since 2003. But you never know!!!!! They are predicting rain and wind for Tuesday so we may not even get to play then.
Suzy, I am sure you enjoyed your baby sitting duties. I am sure you are also enjoying the remuneration from your teaching. I do hope you get plenty more days work.

Morning. Cold, rainy day here. Have to get groceries - is there anything more fun on a Saturday than getting groceries when it's pouring rain? Oh well, it has to be done. It is one of those shopping days where we are out of a lot of things, detergents, paper products, catfood, and on and on and on.

Tami, pleased things seem to be working for your parents. I do hope the move all goes smoothly.
Heidi, hope all goes well on Monday with the epidural. I really admire all you do with all the health problems you have.
Tricia, I am sure all the things you are doing for Joy are helping you as well. Lots of reasons for keeping yourself motivated.
I was sorting things in the bedroom but did not get a lot done so better go and move stuff off the bed. See you anon.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Not sure who asked the questions so I will answer all. Parents got lucky. House is clean, but was built in 1981 and looks that way. It has a great floor plan and I guess the person looked passed all that and saw the potential. As for where they are moving, it is a perfect place for them. It is a large over 55 condo development. They have a theater, club house, and tons of activities. They even have a shuttle to local shopping for those who can't/won't drive. It is perfect for them. They will be about 5 minutes from me. That is good as I can keep an eye on them.

Yeah, Tami.... 5 minutes away is good. Close enough for you to visit easily, but far enough away that they can't just walk over to your place 5 times a day. And vice versa. Everybody can have their space. The place for them sounds ideal, too. Is there a waiting list?

JULIE, I am now doing the post as i read thing also. I actually open 2 sudoku pages, write on one, and read on the other. that USUALLY keeps me from loosing a post by turning a page. Yesterday when I lost all my comments on page 435, I remember hitting send, then got some error page. And I use your posts to help me remember what I have not commented on earlier also, I find them most useful

I remember commenting on TAMI's parents house getting an offer so quickly. I am amazed it happened so quickly. whenever I sell anything quickly I always wonder if I sold it under what the market price, gave someone a true bargain.

Theresa, I remember reading before about your FIL. I do wish someone could reach him, get him the help he needs. Depression can take a tole on our older parents, and it is treatable, but he would have to agree to treatment, unless he is a danger to himself.

SUZY, just what is a changeover dinner at the Lions club? sorry the baby was so ill when you were keeping her.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY To Nola!!

Did I mention that I found Joy a slipcover for a chair she insists on keeping? It should have gone to the dump years ago. the different family cats over chair's lifespan have scratched it ragged, it is seat sprung, what fabric is whole is faded beyond any color now, and the skirt is no longer attached to base of chair in many places. BUT this was her mother's chair and she has so few things that were her Mother's. Having all the moving expenses, cannot really afford to reupholster it, so I was thrilled to find a slip cover on Freecycle, in one of her fav colors, ruby red. It is a stretch ribbed fabric, same fabri of a slip cover I bought years ago for Al's old recliner that was HIS father's. See a pattern here?? NOW just to make the slipcover work. I will need a few upholstery tacks and those screw in tufting buttons I think, to hold it in place. Perhaps a coordinating fabric to cover the chair cushion, as there is no seperate cushion cover. I can see it finished and almost presentable in her living room.

A funny serious thing happened yesterday. I was at grocery when I got the phone call to my cell that I had been chosen to receive the free slipcover. I put groceries in auto, behind drivers seat, then proceeded to find this house. I had to made a sudden stop, and I heard groceries moving, they had escaped the sack. Later a turn in the road, and an apple rolled to the front seat, and right under the accelerator. No place to put food to make the car go! I had to pull to side of road, get out and hunt for all my groceries. There is no console separating front from back seats as in my old minivan, just a fold down cup holder that bridges the area between front seats. Groceries were scattered under and about the front compartment. I shall know next time, get a box to contain groceries or tie the handles closed!!

Off to make breakfast, I shall return later to annoy you all more hehehe. I think a young man, David, is coming today to cut grass and weed eat again. I planned to cut grass myself till the back acted up. NOT a good idea now. Terry, friendly handyman, came over to shop the yard sale dome items again, and bring me rest of money for the white van. He is sending one of his 'lost boys' who he tries to rehabilitate, over to cut today. Said young man needs $$, his grandfather died and he needs gas money to get to funeral, I could not say no. I had unexpected cash in hand, and even though I intended to make do a bit longer with no weedeating, place does look so much better when nicely cut. Some one had done something nice for me, the free slipcover, so pass it forward.

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

I'm going by myself to the movie after all. So I'm gonna go to the first showing (leave here in 45 minutes), then get back with a lot of time to fool with animals, then go to the Indian restaurant (if IH hasn't changed his mind).

An elderly man on a Moped, looking about 100 years old, pulls up next to a doctor at a street light.

The old man looks over at the sleek shiny car and asks,'What kind of car ya got there, sonny ?'

The doctor replies, 'A Ferrari GTO. It cost half a million dollars!'

'That's a lot of money,' says the old man. 'Why does it cost so much?'

'Because this car can do up to 320 miles an hour!' states the doctor proudly.

The Moped driver asks, 'Mind if I take a look inside?'

'No problem,' replies the doctor.

So the old man pokes his head in the window and looks around. Then, sitting back on his Moped, the old man says, 'That's a pretty nice car, all right... But I'll stick with my Moped!'

Just then the light changes, so the doctor decides to show the old man just what his car can do. He floors it, and within 30 seconds the speedometer reads 160 mph.

Suddenly, he notices a dot in his rear view mirror. It seems to be getting closer!

He slows down to see what it could be and suddenly WHOOOOSSSHHH !

Something whips by him going much faster!

'What on earth could be going faster than my Ferrari?' the doctor asks himself.

He presses harder on the accelerator and takes the Ferrari up to 250 mph.

Then, up ahead of him, he sees that it's the old man on the Moped!

Amazed that the Moped could pass his Ferrari, he gives it more gas and passes the Moped at 275 mph and he's feeling pretty good until he looks in his mirror and sees the old man gaining on him AGAIN!

Astounded by the speed of this old guy, he floors the gas pedal and takes the Ferrari all the way up to 320 mph.

Not ten seconds later, he sees the Moped bearing down on him again! The Ferrari is flat out, and there's nothing he can do!

Suddenly, the Moped plows into the back of his Ferrari, demolishing the rear end.

The doctor stops and jumps out and unbelievably the old man is still alive.

He runs up to the banged-up old guy and says, 'I'm a doctor.... Is there anything I can do for you?'

The old man whispers,'Unhook my suspenders from your side view mirror!'.

MizT,I can relate to groceries rolling around the floor (although I generally put them in the boot)
A damp miserable day. I could curl up with a book but I have to ice the slice I made last night and make another. We are having 'afternoon tea' for MIL at SIL's house for MIL's birthday, which is tomorrow. She will be 98.

I also have autumn leaves everywhere and now they are all wet. I did not want to get out the blower until after Tuesday.(protecting my back)

It's not that disappointing this time. My back decided to have a massive flare-up, and I would have been miserable at the restaurant. Until the methadone kicked in, I was in agony from mid-back, down the legs, into the soles of my feet. I am definitely ready for my epidural in a say and a half.

OH Heidi, so sorry for your massive flare of back pain, that sounds almost unbearable!! I am so glad you only have 2 more sleeps till the epidural. REALLY glad you got the methadone refilled, I cannot imagine what it would have been like to go 36 hours or more in that kind of pain without it. How long did it take the Methadone to work? If you are like me, that time from swallowing a pill till it takes effect seems the longest time imaginable.

Do you think sitting in the movie caused it? Or the weather? All of the above? We had a cold front come through here yesterday, I think you did also and because of it my fibro has joined my back in being noticeable now. I am so thankful for modern medicine that can help those of us with severe pain. I know I have been able to do more and enjoy more since doc got my pain under better control. It can be inconvenient trying to work around the side effects, but so much better than the pain.

today I needed gasoline for lawn mower for David. He does not have drivers license or would have sent him in my OLD vehicle. He had to weed eat first, cause I had to wait for my dizzy and lack of ordination to pass fore I could drive.

Did I mention how lucky I have been getting items for Joy from freecycle this weekend? I think I mentioned the chair cover for Joy but not the sofa slipcover I might use, or the clothes dryer? I am so confused, having lost so many comments, cannot remember what got posted and what not. pain med brain does not help either

Joy is thrilled we got the dryer, and loved the price hehehe. She could not believe 'you are doing all this for me'.

Neighbor young man with a truck is going to drive me and operate the furniture dolly to pick up the dryer. It is old, probably ugly, but it works! a match for her washer that is as old as she is hehehe. Her washer and dryer are in a small laundry room, out of sight behind doors. Working is good enough for now.

Time for the evening news, will go watch that with a cup of de caf, then most likely fall asleep in chair again. Hugs to each of you, with extras.
