Good morning Heidi. Your body was telling you you needed the rest. I don't get to sleep that long. Harley usually wakes us up to take him out

Oh dear, the topsiders are falling down on the job. Muggy day here. It rained last night and we had quite the storm. It is supposed to rain today, but so far it has only looked threatening. The laundry is done - sorry for swearing. Hubby has vacuumed the upstairs and now is watching a John Wayne movie. Nothing else new here.

Hi all.
It has been raining here most of the night with more forecast for today.Almost the same as you Theresa.
Thanks for the pic Broni. Nice one.
Suzy..you had quite a productive day really.Looking after Tahli as well as the other things you did is quite time consuming. That reminds me that I should also wash the dog bed.
Renae & family spent a few hours here yesterday. The girls got quite a work out on the WII then outside to climb all over the 2 truck loads of soil still to be spread. Their fearlessness amazes me.The baby is more interested in the chooks next door and trying to climb the fence.
Renae forgot to bring the computer out so made a 2nd trip later,so it is now sitting on the dining table.
I will call in to see Judy today. She is staying at a friends place this time incase she gets sick again.SIL has washed the bed linen and made her some soup that I will will pick up on the way.
Tomorrow I begin afternoon shift which I have only done as an EEN twice before. It is a public holiday Mon so I wont have any Drs or Admin stuff.
That was a good sleep Heidi!
Rolanda..you are probably not getting the 'Beautiful 1 day, perfect the next' Qld weather but friends will make up for that. Have a great time.
Cyn..hope you had plenty of entertainment time with hosting the get together. Wish I could have joined you all.
Tami...loads of work ahead of you moving Mum/Dad.
Thanks for the coffee.

Hi all, lots to do at home but we are off to Belinda's place and we will pick up Laura on the way.
Nola, have a nice day and tell Judy that there are a lot of people thinking about her. I am getting the impression that she is living by herself. That makes it hard for her. Too much time to think. I am so pleased to hear all your progress as an EEN.
Suzi, when we had our own babies we looked after them and the house and the rest of the family......but when we look after the grandies we seem to get very little done!
Tami, enjoy the summer break, even if it will be busy moving your parents. Packing will bring back many memories.

Another one where I have to say SERIOUSLY????

A party at a lake in the Outaouais ended tragically Saturday morning after a man drowned during a breath-holding competition.

Outaouais police said two men at Lac Kingsmere in Chelsea decided to see who could swim the longest underwater just before 7 a.m.

Alexander Drury, age 25 of Ottawa, failed to surface. His body was found at 9:20 a.m. by police and fire crews that tried unsuccessfully to revive him.

back again.
Just lost a small post and dont know why.
June...yes,Judy never married and lives in a unit by herself.Thats why I call in daily after work.
Judy means a lot to me as my mother had many mental breakdowns and she would spend months at Ryde Mental Hospital. My brother and I relied on Judy as we grew up as she was the eldest. Dad did his best but was trying to keep the money coming in.I loved my Dad,I could talk to him,my brother was my stability and companion when we were fostered out and Judy,my mum, when we were home.
Mum was the best Mum but I knew never to worry her in any way. She just couldn't handle any stress.
Theresa..what a tragedy for that young man and his family.

Morning all,
Nola, Judy sounds like a wonderful person and I'm not surprised you call in every day! Your childhood was kind of tough, but full of love. Big hugs to both of you.

Theresa, what a senseless and tragic loss of life. I hope it is publicised a lot to deter copycats. Though with the mindset of some, that could actually encourage them. Tough call.

June, have a great day with Laura and Belinda..and don't do anything to hurt your back! I know what you mean. Even when Dana is home I don't get as much done as I used to!

Miz Tricia here. I do not know how to work this FB when not on my computer, but wanted someone from our SA group to know where I am and what I am doing. My sister has shingles, needs a nurse to keep her medications straight, feed her, and such. Her hubby is out of town now. Not sure how long I will be here, not sure when her hubby will return or if I would still be needed if he is here.

I cannot get onto my FB or my SA cause they are bookmarked on my computer and I do not remember password, silly me. Could you please pass this on to the group for me? Luckily I remember your last name and could find you hehehe. I miss you guys, having withdrawal symoptoms already , no SA group, no opuzzles, and NO TIME. Keeping very busy trying to keep all this done. Poor sis, said this morning the poain was so bad felt like it was going to crush her bones. Luckily she was at urgent care when it got that bad.

Please send my hugs and good wishes to everyone, and any extra healing thoughts and prayers for my sis would be appreciated.

Deep disappointment. IH had to go to Indiana this afternoon, and I was under the impression that he wouldn't return until tomorrow. Just after midnight he walked in the door. I was so hoping for a snore-free night tonight.

Hi, Everyone! Somehow the day has slipped away from me. I may not get through all of today's posts.

Bean, I'm sorry I missed you. Don't put a judgment on how much you are getting done; just be proud that you ARE getting things done! Looking after yourself, planning for meals, and eating better are all big accomplishments! It is good that Lachie is thinking to the future and sharing his thoughts with you. Hopefully any decision he makes will not come as a major surprise! The military and training received opens a lot of doors, including the one you dread. All I can say is that there will be a lot of us praying for him and for you, both as he makes his decision and as he lives with it. Not everyone in the military leaves the country. I guess much depends on the skill set of each individual. My brother has a good friend in the U.S. Navy who was nearing retirement. Nevertheless, they needed his skill set - in Iraq, of all places. He successfully served his tour of duty there and is safely back at home (and now retired, I think). You are helping to prepare Lachie to be a contributing member to his family and those around him. Give yourself a hug for all you are doing! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Broni, so glad you had an opportunity to join CynB and Rolanda! What fun for all of you!

Suzy, I've now decided that I never get as much done as I expected to. It's called 'life.' I'm glad Tahli is learning how to 'help' (help keep you from finishing all you had planned to get done).

Tami, it just now occurred to me: paper boxes from school are great for packing. They're not too big, so you can't overload them (unless you fill them with books, but it's still better than a larger box). They're a consistent size so they can be easily piled. Hubby asked friends who are still teaching to save some empty boxes for us. When we drove to Texas for the quick visit to D and SIL and bring things back with us, we took them some empty paper boxes. Good luck to you, your parents and the Beasties as you sort through things!

Heidi, I'm glad you can occasionally catch up a bit on your sleep!

Tami, maybe as Harley gets older, he'll learn to let you sleep in a bit. I guess since you need to get to bed relatively early (as compared to some of us who will not be named), it doesn't make sense to suggest that you take him out later at night, just before you head to bed.

Theresa, I wouldn't complain if you would send some of that rain this way. Temperatures (and humidity) are rising here. We also put a few loads through the sloshy thing and the warm, spinning thing. Somehow, we didn't find the muucav today.

Nola, I find it amazing that you are able to get so much done, along with your new job. I guess all of the studying and writing papers prepared you somewhat for trying to fit personal and household stuff around work stuff. Sounds like Renae and family enjoyed their visit. Isn't it amazing how a pile of dirt can draw little ones to it. (While I was at the hospital for D#2, my Mom reported that D#1 had a wonderful time in the neighbor's dirt.) I hope Judy is doing well and you have a nice visit. Please let her know that there are many SA friends thinking of her and sending her healing vibes! Enjoy the afternoon shift at work!

June, it sounds like another busy weekend! Enjoy the time spent with Laura and Belinda! I'm amazed at how much you can keep up at home on top of all the rest that you do! What a wonderful role model for us!

Theresa, I would have thought the young man would have realized he needed a breath and tried to surface. Maybe he got disoriented and swam down instead of up to the surface. What a shame! So sad for his family!

Nola, you and your siblings certainly learned to to watch over and help each other! What a testament to all of you and your parents and the love and caring that was present in your home in spite of some difficulties growing up. How wonderful that you stop by to see Judy each day after work! Good for her friend who is determined to get her out more! {{{{HUGS}}}} for both you and Judy!

Suzy, thank you for forwarding MizT's message. I must admit to being confused when HER words followed YOUR avatar! (Well, it's almost 1 a.m., and I'm getting quite tired.)

MizT, how awful for your sister to have such a bad case of shingles! Good for you for being her nurse! (Did you remember to take all of YOUR medications with you when you packed to go to her house?) I know it must be hard to plan, especially since neither of you knows when her husband is due to return or if you'll need to stay and continue to help out when he is back at home. I'll be keeping your sister in my thoughts and prayers. Please give here an EXTREMELY GENTLE hug from all of us! I hope her symptoms will soon pass!

Heidi, I'm so sorry IH returned tonight instead of tomorrow. BTW, I have recently read about a 'No Sno-Ring' which is placed on the pinky finger and uses acupressure points to reduce snoring. I'm considering getting one for hubby, but wan

Back home and it is raining. All those leaves that I should have cleaned up yesterday are wet again!
Did some vacuuming and dusting and cleaned out her vac. cleaner which was all blocked up with cat and dog hair. We then ordered Chinese take away to have at Laura's house when we took her home.
Ken cut lots of firewood for Belinda so that should keep her warm for most of the winter. She is also busy writing school reports.

Tomorrow I must get the sun room cleaned as that is where everyone will be on Saturday. At the moment there is ironing, sewing and lots of boxes (A lot of them will still be there!). Then I have to do some cooking for our trading table and potato salad for 65 people. Friendship day at bowls on Tuesday. Hair cut Wednesday, Lunch with friends on Friday and then Rolanda and Co. on Saturday. A busy week.

Heidi, if Gil snores all night has he been tested for sleep apnea? We have a group in our Probus club and they have talked to others and there is a machine they wear to bed that makes then sleep better (and no snoring). It also improves their health and awareness.

No comments from Cynthia and Rolanda. Maybe they are still celebrating.(or recovering )

Saw some of the pictures on the other site and it looks like a fun time was had by all.

Julie, the last one to go to bed, usually hubby, does try to take Harley out later. I think he is just used to me getting up at a certain time and he expects it. Hopefully we can break the habit, at least for the summer.

Hello all. Beautiful day here, but tomorrow it is going up to 33C. Think I'll finally find out if the AC works - we haven't used it yet.

I was out earlier watching the chipmunks with the peanuts I had given them. They were spending their time chasing each other away from them. Along came a tiny little mole and carried them all off one by one. Almost seems like the chipmunks were acting 'human'.

Internet was down most of the morning. We 'borrow' our internet from the people next door. I didn't think it wise to phone them and ask them what the problem was.

Hubby is gone to see his mom and I stayed home to get some stuff done. The AC in the car is not working and the garage cannot fix it until next week, so I didn't feel like an hour and a half in the car without AC.

Wish I could have been at the Sudoku meet. Looks like a fun time was had by all!

Gil refuses to be tested for sleep apnea, though I'm sure he has it. He's happier being in denial.

I really slept in this morning! I got another 12 hours sleep. I think my body is making up for the week after the surgery when I couldn't sleep for more than an hour at a time.

I spoke with Miz Tricia today. Her sister is not doing good. Doctor thinks they caught it early enough that the medicine should start working in a day or so. Tricia is still there. She has been here to read, as a guest. She does not remember her password so she can't log in. She wants to thank everyone for the support. She will continue to read but not post. I told her if I didn't see her post in a day or so I would call her again.

Morning all,
Thinking of you and missing your posts MizT. Gentle hugs to your sister...

Tami, thank you for calling for us. I hope Harley gets the hint and lets you sleep in tomorrow, or soon..

Sleep apnea indirectly killed my grandfather. He had had multiple surgeries with no problems and was in hospital for a bypass operation. A nurse from the sleep ward (that's the way I remember it) walked past his room the night before, heard his snore, and raised the red flag. His surgery was cancelled and he died as a result. Not immediately, but too soon.

My brother had anti-snore surgery (don't think it was apnea) and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! For 10 days afterwards he would have done anything to stop the pain.

Good morning!
I just wanted to tell you about our wonderful afternoon yesterday. Cyn and Col were wonderful hosts and their outdoor area is enormous. We had so much food that there was plenty of left overs for their dinner and probably most meals today. It was so lovely to meet and chat with Rolanda. She and I had a lovely chat for quite a while as we were sitting beside each other at lunch. All in all there were 13 of us (including Madby3's daughter).
I hadn't seen Martha or Sharleen (Madby3) since we had a gathering at Coolangatta 3 or 4 years ago. It's funny how we just all start nattering like we've known each other forever. Sudoku is a wonderful ice breaker and a great way to get to know lots of wonderful people.
Thanks Cyn for hosting yesterday's lunch. Rolanda, enjoy the rest of your trip down the east coast. You still have many lovely sudoku people to meet.

Now I need to run off and do some of that swishy stuff - the clothes are overflowing from the laundry basket and spilling all over my wardrobe floor. I also need to corral (sp?) the dust bunnies before they take over the house!

First things first though. I need to tell you about taking mum to visit the assisted living units. We went to the first one where there were 4 vacant units. My goodness, that place wouldn't have looked unusual in a magazine for 5 star resorts. It was gorgeous. The room was quite large - nice sized living/dining/kitchenette with a separate bedroom with ensuite/laundry. It was beautifully laid out and just a walk up the corridor to the dining room. There were plenty of outdoor areas so always somewhere to go sit in the sun and indoors there was also a theatre. They also have a separate dining room for residents to host family events - it seats up to 25 people.
The second one we visited was more expensive to buy into but cheaper weekly to live there but it had heaps more facilities - mostly outdoor and I don't think mum would use them - bowling greens, indoor and outdoor pool etc. The unit was lovely - not quite as large as the previous place - small verandahs to sit on, smaller bedroom but a lovely sized living area and quite large kitchenette. That didn't quite make sense to me as they have their meals in the dining room and you only have to prepare breakfast for yourself and only have a microwave and fridge. I'm just not certain that it was worth another $50k to buy in there.

Anyway, Mum has gone home to think about it, so I'll just have to be patient. As we said, if she can come up with the money to move in before selling her house, we will do the cleaning out and selling for her. I can see some fun times ahead but it would be so much easier to have her closer.

Sounds like CynB is hostess with the mostest.. Victoria is right Rola..lots more wonderful people to meet.

Well, it was morning when I started to write this.
I have since wandered out to the kitchen and tried out my new baking tray for making potatoe crisps the 'healthy' way.. worked a treat. Cooked a succulent piece of porterhouse steak to go with it along with tomatoes. Yummo.
Coffee and a treat next.. Timtam...don't want to get too carried away..

YEAH, back in sudokuland! Greetings friends. I am just awake from a long nap, up waiting for bedtime meds to take effect now.

Sister had a very bad day. Pain that outlasted the pain pills, trouble getting up and down, she could sit up and pain go from a 0 to a 6 inside a minute. Then this morning, nausea and vomiting. More out than we could get fluids into her today. We went to doc again, this is day 2 at urgent care. He changed nausea meds, changed the antiviral, those 2 are most likely candidates.. Gave her 2 injections. She was dozing in short bursts when I gave up and came downstairs to the guest bedroom.

Edna was touched that you sent greetings, thoughts and prayers. She sends her thanks to you.

Heidi, this is the sister who sent out the AL reports, I think you met her at the funeral.

I have been reading, kept me from missing you too much, but did miss posting. I kept trying passwords, found the correct one, persistent little cuss that I am.

Having David take over with sis is a blessing for me, I needed a break. We had storms, weather changes, meaning pain for me. and sister both. I was coping but afraid I would make medication error. I did once today, forgot my 'empty stomach' med this morning. this afternoon stomach was asking me just why I did that :).

The bed calls, hugs to each of you, thanks for the thoughts and prayers for both of us. Keep them up please, looks like we are gonna need them.
