I am stripping wallpaper in the upstairs hallway in a place where it doesn't show too much. I have never done it before, so this is my test area. The whole house is wallpapered and I hate wallpaper. The cats however love it!

So far I have reached four layers of wallpaper and there are more. Oh dear, this is going to take a long time. I have no idea what's under all the wallpaper ... just hope it's not the wallpaper holding up the house!!!!

Our house is an old farmhouse that is over 100 years old. One of the layers has bright red on it and it looks like a kid's wallpaper. We cannot get the records for this house from way back because there was a fire in the 1950's that destroyed all property records for our town.

I have been in and out, running errands. Threw out one bag from my parents and gave my dad instructions to throw more out tomorrow. Took a big box of books to a used book store. They took a few and gave me credit. Mitchell picked out some of the books he needs for next year and one he will need in 11th grade. My mom does not even want to think about anything until she has the approval. I am not worried but she is.

Maybe I should post to just keep the site working. I don't want to be accused of breaking the site.

Sorry for letting our side down, Tami. I slept until noon again, then worked with Robert to level a 600 gal. water tank, then do a bunch of small repairs around the place. Then I had to go shopping for food for people, dogs and cats. I now have 1 hour before I have to leave for the Cattlemen's meeting. I cannot sleep to noon tomorrow since I have to be at the airport at noon to pick up my 2 new pairs of Parrot Finches (see avatar for picture), so I'm going to bed early tonight. I'm sleeping too much and am starting to get worried that I may have a bug.

For the same reasons little boys fart and burp so much, just to annoy the adults.

This was a BIG cheesecake.... 14 inch diameter... and there were no leftovers. There were plenty of other desserts, too, including blackberry cobbler, rhubarb cobbler, strawberry cobbler, strawberry chiffon, brownies, and I forget what else. There were a lot of hungry people, tho'... between 60 and 70. We had a nice dinner as well.

Heidi, I love cheese cake too, and strawberry is my flavor. Did you bake it? use your own strawberries? In fact, might make a fast no bake recipe, cheater cheesecake, if I have more energy tomorrow.

I went south 45 minutes, lovely day for a drive, bought my car tag. Now to get it put on tomorrow. Came back north and went on to town, got my shingles vaccine injection, bought cat some food, half and half and gallon of milk for me. I had a Heidi nap, went to sleep in my recliner and slept 2 hours . Now for a late supper so I can go back to bed. tired as tired here, need to catch up on sleep.

Edna's lights were off almost 24 hours. were back on in time to cook dinner, her hubby made a simple meal.

Edna phoned and asked if I can come back Friday before dark, stay the weekend, so hubby can go back to GA and get that house building done. her granddaughter will be staying with her after the weekend. they hope to have the house in condition 'to camp out in' by fall. both niece and her hubby go back to teaching then.

Theresa, did we squeal when we were small? I honestly do not remember if I did. I screamed a lot, screaming at my 3-years-younger-than-I brother to go away, leave me alone hehehe.

healing thoughts and prayers go out to Viv and the professional staff caring for her during and after her knee operation.

heidi, what was on the dinner menu?? BTW, congrats on the new birds arriving soon. We saw a lot of native finches at my sister's bird feeders. Sister lives in a tree house hehehe, her house is in the middle of about 10 wooded ares, and from her deck and out the back windows, you are up in the trees. Lovely place to watch the birds. Her sofa is positioned so she can see all her bird feeders, when reclining propped on the arm of sofa. My chair was adjaent, I could see most of them, really enjoyed the nature show! We saw golden finches and house finches, small black and white wood peckers, hummingbirds, red cardinals, and a juvenile cardinal that was larger than his parents! Sis says many juveniles are larger than parents when they leave the nest, so they have body stores to sustain them until they they learn to feed themselves. There were titmouses (titmice? ) OK, there were a pair of titmouse,OK, OK, There was a female titmouse and a male titmouse that were hunting bugs. they are usually seed eaters, love the black sunflower seeds that sis buys 40 pounds at a time. Sis said they were feeding young, because they need more protein, so therefore bugs. Interesting.

I may be up again early, hope not, but i did sleep already. Be warned, if I am up, I will return to post again. Gotta make up the deficit from the weekend, and since planing on being away again, I need a surplus of posts to tide me over hehehe.

hugs to each of you, with extras.

Julie, I saw your cell phone number in my computer files, from some time ago. I hope to get it onto my phone, and if you are still at same number, might ring you for a chat soon. TAMI, I did not save your phone number when you called, not sure if it is in my phone still or not. If so, might do the same for you. Do either of you text or receive photos to phone? i can take and txt a photo, but do not have the proper cord for connection or knowledge to get from phone to computer. someday perhaps.

Hi, Everyone! Getting a late start because of a meeting tonight. We left the house at 5:30 and returned at 10:30. (About an hour of that was travel time.) We have another meeting tomorrow night, but it will hopefully NOT be as long.

Hi, Bean! We're glad for your visit, even though it was brief. The idea of steak has me salivating.

Welcome home, Tricia! What a relief that meds were found that helped ease Edna's pain! I'm glad Edna, David, and you all had a good night's sleep! How nice of him to check your car and weather radar before you headed home. Too bad you hit some rain, but not too heavy. Now you know how to work the front wipers on your KIA!

Hello to Suzy, Theresa, Tami, CynB, Vicky, June, Heidi, and anyone I've missed. I'm fading fast. Feel free to share the positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} sent your way!

It has been a quiet on here today.
Heidi, the dinner sounded nice. I guess you are off picking up the finches.
Tricia, I did not know there was a vaccine for preventing shingles, only one to be taken early if you actually got them.
Rolanda should be safely with her friends in Sydney. It has not been the best of weather. Cold and showery. I hope for a warmer day on Saturday.

Julie, you seem to exist on very little sleep.
Tami, I am sure the boys will soon settle once the holidays really get under way. I had a call from my son tonight and he is going to send the eldest boy (10) up here for a week in the next school holidays (in about three weeks time). I can cope with one but not two of the boys. I have not told Laura yet but she will be happy to have a playmate.

Evening all,
Another day in the coal mines survived.

June, I was wondering about the shingles vaccine too. I wondered if it was related to the chicken pox vaccine...

Theresa, I've been lucky enough to never have to strip wall paper. From what I have seen on TV it's not a fun job!

MizT, I hope the weather is cooperative on the weekend and you don't end up in pain. At least you will be visiting a beautiful place! I'd be sitting there for hours...

Tami, again girls do that too. My girls seem to take pride in how loudly they can burp. And nothing I've said has convinced them that it is disgusting!

Tami, I was watching Ed Sheeran's video for Lego House the other day and was thinking he looks just like Rupert Grint. It was Rupert Grint!! I felt really dumb because I'd seen it before!!

Early night for me tonight. I worked today and am working again tomorrow. I asked him before I left if he needed me tomorrow and he said no, but he had something coming up next week. He called me later at home. I've discovered the secret to making head teachers like you - Mark their papers for them!

Last week I didn't take my pills because I knew they would make it hard for me to get up in the morning, but this week I decided that I couldn't keep not taking them.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Suzy, I love it when a sub grades papers for me. I usually don't leave anything important as half the time I don't even get the work. Most subs I know are more 'babysitter' than teacher. When I get a good sub, I will leave work that is usually a review.

Any word from Viv yet? I know she said she would text someone as soon as she could but don't know if it is too soon or not.

Tricia, Edna's house sounds nice with all the trees. I would enjoy a place like that occasionally.

Heidi, glad you had a good time last night.

Tami, a lot of the work left for me is text book work. Read this and answer these questions. Today I had aboriginal studies, HSIE (basically history/geography) and legal studies. All very interesting stuff, for me. Most of the kids couldn't have cared less. It was very sad.

When I was at school, the stuff aboriginals went through wasn't even mentioned. I still remember the first time I read something about it, I was in my 20s. I couldn't finish it and stressed out over it for weeks. It was upsetting to say the least. Today it was hard to watch the kids show no interest at all. Especially since this was an elective class and everyone there had chosen to be there!

Suzy, that is what I usually leave, or worksheets. Anything the sub can pass out or assign easily. This year having a computer lab made it more challenging. The laptops were locked in my closet overnight so someone would have to unlock my closet and I would have to have a sub that was truly trusted on campus. Usually the sub coordinator would help me find a sub in advance, if not, she would reassign the subs. Just because you accept a job at my school does not mean that is the class you will be in. It is up to administration to place the subs in the appropriate rooms. My room had a slight priority because of the computers. Luckily I don't take many days off.

I'm actually up before noon!!! (Tho' I could happily have slept a lot longer.) I'm off in half an hour to pick up the finches. I can't wait to see them!!! I've only ever seen pictures of these, but they're supposed to be one off the calmest of the Parrot Finches, besides being gorgeous.

I'm going to have to get up REALLY early tomorrow morning. The horse shoer will be here between 8 and 9AM. That means having all the horses up in the barn either in their stalls or tied up. I have more horses than stalls, unfortunately.

Morning friends, I am late getting her today. I slept till 9 am, after being up in the wee hours for 'intermission'. I feel remarkably good today, hope it lasts the day!!

Did 2 loads of the swishy thing, hung out one and a half. Small items are in the hot spinny thing, ran out of clothesline!

JUNE and SUZY, here is the information I have about the shingles vaccine, a handout given by the pharmacist. Name is Varicella Virus Vaccine (shingles) - injection. Common Brand name is Zostavax

Uses, to prevent zoster (shingles) in adults 50 years or older.

After you are infected with chicken pox, usually as a child, the virus can live in your nerve roots in an inactive form. For reasons unknown, the virus may activate again, causing shingles. The vaccine works by boosting the body's natural defense (immunity) against zoster virus so that symptoms of shingles do not develop. It should not be used for treating an outbreak of shingles, or for the prevention of chicken pox. This vaccine should not be used in children.

So, I think this says it is not the same as the vaccine against chicken pox given children. The antiviral drugs are different again from either vaccine. name is long and I do not remember it for either one sister took. if anyone is interested, let me know before Friday afternoon, and i will look it up on her medication bottle labels.

I have been fortunate enough to never have had chicken pox, tho' I've been exposed to it a lot.

The finches are here and are every bit as beautiful as I'd hoped.

Now I need to fool with the horses and the horse barn. Whimsey desperately needs a bath. I don't know how she got so dirty, but I'd be ashamed to have anybody see her this way.

I had chicken pox as a child as well as all the other childhood stuff. My father would hear of a child sick with one of the childhood illnesses and take us to play with them, purposefully exposing all 4 of us to the illness. 'they might as well have them all before starting to school, so they do not miss school'. And thought it better for the 4 of us to have them all same time, too. I do not think he asked Mom about that

I sat down for lunch, ate good, woke 2 1/2 hours later!!

I spoke to Rolanda on her mobile a little while ago. They were off to Avoca Beach (north of Sydney) and she said it was lovely and sunny. More overcast here with an occasional glimpse of the sun. I have been sorting some accumulated junk. Just resting my back which was starting to protest.

I did make the cheesecake, and enjoyed a small slice at lunch and another at dinner. must save some to take when I visit sis, I am sure she would enjoy it. tomorrow I want to make a squash casserole to take. Lunch today was spaghetti, yummy, with cole slaw. dinner was a hamburger, with tomato, onion, very good. I had slied peah before the chese ake.

Joy is sending sis some lounge pants, soft, elastic waist, better than jeans for lying about. Sis does not have many soft pull on easy wear pants. I will stop by on the way to Edna's, plan on taking a few more things to Joy. It is only a 5 min detour, I have 2 more lawn chairs, a trash an, a water hose, and other assorted things that need to go. Not sure what I can fit in this trip.

I had rooted 2 African violet leaves, will probably give them to Roger. He had taken several leaves from my plants and none would root for him. I sent him one, rooted, and it now has about 7 leaves, doing nicely. I divided one pot for these two, hopefully roots will not mingle, so they can be transplanted easily. took plastic from lid to cool whip, cut to fit middle of the little pot I was using. Will let ya know later how well the divided pot works.

Will check back later to see if we heard from viv. Hopefully all is well.

Almost time for bed, I am getting sleepy again. If this is beauty sleep, I should be gorgeous by now hehehe. hugs to each of you, with extras.
