Since you said that your keyboard has been rejecting 'c's', MizTricia, I just added one to every questionable word and came up with a sane sentence. It did make for a fun sentence, though.

Greetings, Everyone!

Theresa, I like your TOPP for page 444! Good luck with stripping wallpaper. We had to do that in our last house, and it was probably 40 years old - certainly NOT 'strippable' wallpaper. We tried everything, including special products from hardware stores. We had to 'score' the wallpaper and spray products on, wait, the SCRAPE! Good luck! Thinking of you. (Sometimes when there are multiple layers, the top layers come off more easily. We never got to the kitchen of our old house with at least 2 or 3 layers.)

Heidi, I hope you're not getting a bug, just making up for lost sleep after your surgery! For someone who slept until noon, you certainly got a lot accomplished, including a yummy strawberry cheesecake and going to the Cattlemen's meeting/dinner!

Tami, you have made some progress going through books, at least! Will Bernie follow through and throw out more bags? I hope the process doesn't take all summer!

MizT, I'm glad you got your vehicle sticker. Now to get it installed on the windshield! I'm glad you got your shingles vaccination! I hope your insurance covered the cost! I have looked into it and found prices over $200, which I guess is a small price to pay to avoid what Edna went through! I have received conflicting advice about getting it, because hubby is immuno-compromised. If he can't have it, I wonder what they would do if he gets shingles? Maybe we should ask his doc.

Gail, thanks for popping in to let us know that you're reading! Are you still working on your lists? We miss you!

Tricia, I'm sorry to hear that Edna and David lost power - and for so long! I hope it wasn't unbearably hot, which would be difficult without air conditioning! If I gave you my cell phone number, that must have been a while ago, as I have forgotten. It's likely, though, as we may have been discussing that we could make calls for free. I've had the same number for at least 4 (and maybe 6) years. I know Ds have sent text and photos to my phone. I have figured out how to text, but haven't sent a photo myself. The area around Edna's house sounds wonderful! I hope you have time to enjoy it when you're back to help out this weekend!

Suzy, I'm glad you're getting frequent calls for work! If you're worried about your medication affecting your being able to get up in the morning, can you take it in early evening, then get to bed early?

June, I can't imagine having 2 young boys for a week! Although I have 3 brothers, 1 of my sisters has 3 boys, and her eldest son has a boy, I have more experience with girls. Enjoy your grandson and Laura. I imagine she'll be glad to have a playmate!

Heidi, you have a busy day ahead for tomorrow! I hope the horse shoer/farrier arrives as schedules and all the horses are cooperative! I'm so glad your finches have arrive and they are more beautiful than you expected!

MizT, you got quite a bit done today! I imagine you wanted laundry done before heading back to Edna's for the weekend!

MizT, no worries! I also was able to translate your message!

Cyn, thanks for attempting to contact Viv. I'm sure she wouldn't have her cell phone with her in the recovery room. She also may not feel like jumping up from her bed to answer her phone. I'm sure we will have heard something in the next few hours!

Gotta run! We had another meeting tonight, though not quite as long as last night! Tomorrow I have a cello lesson, followed by acupuncture - and I really need to get some sleep Feel free to share these prayers, positive thoughts, healing prayers, and {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} for Everyone!

A knee operation is a very painful operation and it is possible that Viv is on very heavy medication and not up to using her mobile. Also you cannot use the mobile in certain parts of hospitals as it can interfere with some of the equipment.
Get better quick Viv.

Afternoon all,
I nearly didn't make it here! Today was h3ll!! It started off okay with an only moderately loud year 8 class. I had the same class for 2 periods - science then math. The next 2 periods were crazy! Non-sport because of rain and we couldn't get a DVD to play!! The kids went nuts!! It was torture - and there were 3 of us in the room!! After than I had another year 8 class, some of whom had been in the torture room. They were completely feral! I knew they would be because of the non sport thing, but they exceeded my expectations... Last period was year 7 non religion. They are allowed to either do homework or the teacher does math with them. I let them do whatever so long as they were not loud. I just didn't have any energy left. Casuals don't usually get a 6 period day.

I too keep looking for posts from or about Viv. I hope we hear soon!

Heidi, your early morning seems good to me right now. If I get to work as late as 8 o'clock I have to park half a mile away. Needless to say I get there as early as I can.

Tami, continued good luck with the packing up and cleaning process.

June, good luck with your house guest(s)!

6 periods for casual! That's just cruel :(

Julie, we are adding things to the lists that we are doing along the way just so we can cross them off! Some things have changed the list they are on, many more things are going into the hope list, but we are plodding on.
The guest room that we are currently painting for Rolanda had (look away now if you are squeamish) purple walls and lime green woodwork! Not only was it pretty gross (Chloe's choice when she was a teenager), but the colour we are going to put on the walls is the palest of blues, almost white, so we are having to overcoat the purple with THREE layers of undercoat just to hide it and stop it from creeping through the pale blue!
Well, we have just finished that and tomorrow we hope to get the two top coats on, then we will start on the woodwork. Shouldn't need to undercoat the green though, as the colour we are doing the woodwork is like a royal blue.
At the same time as that, we are finishing the bathroom/toilet area, only the woodwork left to do :)

One other question I think you asked some time ago was about who is actually doing the painting. It is a fairly even joint effort between hubby and I, we work well as a team, always have. So far in this room (guest) he has done all the rolling, though in the last room we did, the kitchen living room, I did all the rolling including the ceiling, which is no mean feat seeing as they are cathedral ceilings, and I am kneehigh to a grasshopper!
In the guest room, as with all the bedrooms at that end of the house, they have built in shelves that are impossible to remove, so they all have to be done by hand, and there is a lot of cutting in to be done around them, so that is what I am doing this time. If I had my way, the shelves would be removed, cut up for firewood and burnt to ashes...

Gail, you are doing amazing things! Shame it had to cost us lots of time with you, though we do understand..

Another person I'm wondering about is Mamacita. I know the update would just be, she is still working on breathing alone, getting around etc etc, but it would be nice to be sure she is fine. I think I'll go ask Michella on that other page.

Still nothing from Viv - but I'm sure June is right that either she is in pain and can't get to her phone or maybe not allowed to use it.
Trouble is, I could try to track down her hubby but I don't know that he wants to know us or would understand our concern. And not sure what hospital she's in, but probably not Port - Newcastle??

I have something the doc has not seen before, could be bacterial or viral on my back and neck but it hurts like heck, she has given me tablets and cream for both 'we will get it one way or the other' I remember when doctors knew everything!

Happy to burn your shelving Dag!

Back inside. The horses were MUCH better behaved than last time. They all need to go on diets, tho'. I don't feed grain, and I keep them on an overgrazed pasture, but they keep gaining weight. Kinda like me.

Just back from my parents condo inspection. All went well. Some minor repairs need which my brother, husband or I can do. They also got the approval on the mortgage so my mom is happy. Got into an argument with her about where to put furniture. I think the only solution will be to wait until they move in and go from there.

Shame on you, Tami!!! You are SUCH a troublemaker! Your parents can put their furniture wherever they like. They've earned that right. Even if it means having to ask you to move it around for them several times until they're happy with the layout.

Heidi, trust me. My mom is going to need help deciding where to put things. One thing she won't argue about is a cabinet I plan on taking out. It is in the laundry room and is a safety hazard. She will definitely walk into it. The inspector and the real estate agent both agree

SUZY, sorry you had such a terrible class. Can you explain Non-sport to us please? that does not compute in my brain. Wish you had better parking conditions at that school also.

GAIL, what a job, changing from dark to light colors in the guest bedroom. I am sure it will be lovely once finished. Rolanda will give you an A+ on effort alone hehehe.

BRONI the pyromaniac, just looking for new opportunities hehehe,

Good to hear from Viv, probably understatement of the week, re: pain. perhaps we should flood her page with messages, she will find them once she gets back, and know we were thinking about her.

Cyn thanks for passing on the message.

HEIDI, hope the horses behaved themselves. boy, it seems they get new shoes more often than you or i get shoes hehehe. heidi, do the horses just need more exercise to keep their weight down? Couple of years ago, I drove by a large posture, kept seeing a muddy track around the edges. One day I saw two riders, each leading 4 other horses, taking all of them for a fast ride around and around the really large pasture. I figured they were getting their exercise, I had to stop to watch a while.

TAMI, I hope you enjoy the condo inspection with your parents. I am sure the boys are capable of caring for Harley while you are gone. hehehe, I can see Tami and her Mom pushing furniture about till Mom is happy.

I do my moving furniture about on paper, to scale drawing of the room, to scale cut out colored paper furniture. When I find something I like, I sketch it. I did this for my greatroom in former house I owned, and looked back to all the sketches, there was one layout that kept reappearing, it is the one I used. When I shopped for furniture, I always took my drawing with me. I had interior designers looking at it in many stores, and each wanted to know who did the design for me, said it was a wonderful use of space hehehe, see Tricia patting own back hehehe.

Yes, the horses need more exercise. I just haven't been up to it in a while. I have found a new, hard working, home for Flash. He was just too tall for me and I never got attached to him, even though I was there when he was born, broke the sac off his head and dried him off. He's already broke to ride, but he's gonna be ridden a lot now, as well as driven. I'm so glad that I found a home that will appreciate him. They're picking him up this evening.

Tricia, most schools here have sport Wed or Thurs. afternoon and when it rains they and cannot be outside they have to go to lessons. Hence a room full of not very happy kids.

MizT, non sport meant none of the kids could do sport because it wasraining. Other times it could be kids on detention.

The parking is really bad because this school is in a village about 30km from town and there is no public transport. The kids have buses but the teachers have no choice but to drive. The school was built for 800 students and I think there are around1300.

June, I was typing ahead and didn't notice that you had already explained non sport for me. Thank you! Don't be too tired for tomorrow.

I was on my phone earlier and I see my typing was horrendous - when using a small screen I should really have my glasses on!

Heidi, I'm glad you found a good place for Flash. I'm hoping that once you have recovered from this latest surgery you have more energy and lower pain levels so you can do more of the things you love. You would probably still be feeling the after effects of the anaesthetic now. I know I am more tired than usual for quite some time afterwards.

I got an emergency call from Alie this morning - photos for the musical please bring black stockings! The other girls had theirs! And what if I had been working?? Only 2 days this week, but that's okay. I have a 2 week block coming up in July. I think I'll be paid less per day, and have to do lesson plans, but at least I know from day to day that I have work...

June, I know what you mean the back will not let you do everything you have scheduled. It happens here, and some strange things do not get done in a timely fashion cause the back objects. but I have learned over the years to stop when back says stop, rest and go back later. I can actually get more done than if i try to push on, ignoring the back till it rebels. It was a hard lesson to learn.

today has been a good day. I got a few things done, finished a book while resting, pain meds worked and did not leave me feeling too medicated. I could not get some of the things I wanted to drop off at Joy's house loaded into the auto because of the back. maybe tomorrow, before I go. If not, sooner or later she will come down, and can load them.

Kitty has seen the suitcase out again, and is not happy.

Both schools I attended, elementary and high school had gymnasiums, and on rainy days we had our PE or sport inside. We had PE daily, one period a day, it was required. Mrs Mitchell was the Physical education instructor in elementary. she was always looking for things to occupy a gym full of students on a rainy day.

It was unusual to have a gym in elementary school, board of education did not provide those. It was a sign of great community support if there was a gym, an auditorium and a lunchroom at an elementary school. the community raised the funds, designed the proposed building, petitioned the board for permission, and got the building built. Then the board of education took over responsibility for cleaning, maintenance, upkeep, electricity bills etc.

Our high school had two gyms, one for boys with showers, lockers, all imaginable equipment, the football program, coaches offices. One for girls, only had a regulation basketball court and it was on the stage of the auditorium. a HUGE heavy fireproof wall retracted into the ceiling so that the boys basketball games could be played there, spectators only on one side, in the auditorium seats. Unusual use of space.

OK, bed time for me, tomorrow will be busy getting everything packed and to auto. It is so strange, still not accustomed to having to load and unload everything that comes and goes in this house myself. Al loaded everything for me as long as he was able.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till tomorrow

Greetings, Fellow Sudokuaholics!

June, you're absolutely right about a knee operation. To be honest, I barely remember my first day, except that I was incredulous that they expected me to get up out of the bed. Fortunately they had a contraption that allowed me to use some upper body strength to pull myself up, not just rely on my legs. It also helped support me a bit for my first steps.

Viv, we're thinking of you and hoping each day is less painful and easier for you to get up with the walker! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Suzy, what an awful day you had! I hope you never have another as bad! I suspect you needed liquid refreshment when you got home!

Gail, I'm sure that bedroom will look fantastic when you're finished! That's a lot of painting to prevent the darker color from bleeding through. I'm sure it will look much more restful! It seems that you and hubby have done a good job of division of labor, including some switching between types of painting. Good for you, and keep up the good work! (I tend to agree about the shelves.)

Bean, we're glad you can read and check in briefly. I hope all is going well and the dogs are behaving!

Broni, I hope your unidentified painful whatever-it-is quickly responds to your doctor's attempts! That doesn't sound fun! Gentle {{{{HUGS}}}} coming your way!

Hi, Theresa! I hope all is well!

Heidi, good for the horses and being well behaved for their new shoes! Seems like a good plan to find Flash a new home! You'll both be happier.

Tami, Tricia's idea of making a to-scale floor plan (possibly already on the condo site) and scaled cut-outs for furniture is a great idea. I remember we did that when we moved to the house we currently live in. I suspect hubby may talk D into doing the same for their apartment. It's FAR easier to lift and carry the cut-outs than the actual furniture!

June, you have been working hard to get things ready. Catch your breath and enjoy your guests! {{{{HUGS}}}} to all who will be in attendance!

Suzy, Alie was lucky you were at home to deliver what she obviously forgot. What a shame that the DVD didn't work! That certainly impacted your day! Do you get to the school early enough that you could quickly check the DVD prior to class, or do you travel from classroom to classroom all day? Maybe you could find an 'educational-type' DVD (perhaps like National Geographic?) that you could carry in your briefcase or bag of tricks to have on hand in case of a malfunction?
