Caution: Venting
I have sat here since 3.30pm watching my granddaughter looking out the window waiting for her mother to collect her for her fortnightly weekend with her. Madam has just arrived (5.45pm). It was more important to pick up a new car than collect her daughter.
Priorities, woman, priorities!!!
Next time I will insist on an exact pick-up time. Emily was convinced her Mum had forgotten her.

OOOOHHHHHH! Vent away Cyn! Though I don't think a pick up time will help, Emily will only be more convinced she has been forgotten when she is late...

Julie, I don't have access to the equipment as a casual! I had to wait for one of the other teachers to show up with the gear...

Two tables clear with cloths on. One more to go but it is nearly there (It did have two sewing machines and 14 inches of scraps etc). That is where the food will go.
I was out and had a wonderful lunch at the training college for cooks and waiters etc. Did not need any dinner. Hubby has been good and raked up most of the fallen leaves (remember is has been autumn and we have had rain), mowed the lawns and did the vacuuming.
Laura is going to help make some sausage rolls tonight.
Ken has to be at the bowling club about 8am so he will be no help tomorrow.
Tricia, I am now 'back resting'

Good evening friends, sorry I'm late!
Normally I would call today unproductive because we didn't get any painting or house work (different from housework which I don't do!) done, but that would not be strictly correct.
Hubby and I both went through our wardrobes (2 sides of a walk-in wardrobe) which actually entails more than just our clothes etc. The room has shelves above the hanging area, so it tended to become a dump and run depository of all things superfluous. I knew my clothes etc were becoming a burden for me because there was so much cr*p in this area that I couldn't actually hang my clothes up, so it was a long-needed job.
We started by taking all my clothes out and going through them, threw out a lot that I will never wear or that hubby said he honestly never liked (I did the same with his when it was his turn). Also went through my shoes and took out the shoe rack that was taking up valuable space, shoes can happily live on the floor, not on shelves. It has given me so much more room, hubby did the same on his side.
Anyhoo, the upshot of doing all this is we decided to take EVERYTHING out, including all the ??? on the shelves. Turns out some stuff had been there since we moved, and never needed to be unpacked apparently.
We went through this box and VIOLA! I found some 'lost' items of jewellery that had quietly been breaking my heart for many years. Some cherished pieces from hubby, and even more dear to my heart, a pair of opals that Bill bought for my mother so many years ago, intending on having them made into earrings. I don't know how many times I have gone through drawers etc in the vain hope that they may have turned up mysteriously, but alas...
When I realised they were there, I burst into tears of joy ♥

Broni, I hope the meds are working.

Hi Martha, I almost missed you there!

Gail, I almost cried when I read about your find! A wonderful thing! Wish I could do the same, but I know mine are gone forever... My boyfriend at the time was supposed to deliver my car to my mother after he dropped me at the airport but decided he liked having it because the weather was too wet for riding his motorbike. While he had it someone stole the jewelry case that was in it (I thought it was safer to send it to mum than leave it in the house I was sharing - silly me!) It had a ring my grandmother had given me and a charm bracelet my mother had given me in it. I was heart broken - possibly why I identified with your story so much!! I'm so very very happy you found those things...

OMG Alie is so excited! She has just run off at the mouth for nearly an hour!!!

The first matinee is on Tuesday, for primary school kids. Then there is a Tuesday night performance. Wednesday there is another matinee for a 'mystery audience'. I guessed politicians, she guessed teachers. We really have no idea. Wednesday night is the performance we are going to and the last show is on Thursday night. I have no doubt I will go to all of the evening performances - same as last year. Couldn't resist being there, and she has a bigger part this year!

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Gail, wonderful news about the mystery find. I hope I get lucky like that when I clean out my parents house, but I doubt it.

Suzy, I am glad that Alie loves performing so much. If you can take any video and share it, please do. I still call them videos also. At the beginning of the year I signed out a video player. There were videos that matched my textbook, and yes, they were videos.

'Coming, ready or not'. The day is here for us to meet Rolanda. Food organised. Still a few things to push around. i went to bed early because my back was achy. Laura, all hypo, came too. I could not get to sleep, then Ken came to take Laura to her own bed, I woke and realised my tummy was a bit hungry as I had not had any dinner after my big lunch. Just had a hot chocolate and a couple of mint cream biscuits.
Might go and unpack the dishwasher, instead of waiting till 'morning'.

Oh, Gail.... what a marvelous find! I am thrilled for you.

Flash went to his new home last night. He behaved like an angel when we went to load him. He had never been in that kind of a horse trailer before (with narrow stalls), and the outside light wasn't working, yet he calmly stepped right into the trailer like he'd done it every day of his life. Flash is a well behaved horse that has no real vices, and is an attractive horse, besides. He's VERY tall, built like a hunter/jumper (he's going into training for that) and is a flashy dappled grey and white pinto.

I think I'm ready for tomorrow. I'm going on a trail ride/drive with some friends. I'm taking my Morgan, Buddy, and my 2 wheeled cart. It should be a lot of fun. Robert wants to ride, so some friends have offered to put him on a safe trail horse they have. He doesn't want to ride one of mine because of the embarrassment Miss Kitty cost him.
I've made sure that the harness is safe and properly adjusted for Buddy, I've aired up the tires on the cart and washed the cart. I have plenty of bottled water that I'm taking along, and I have 2 first aid kits in the cart (It has a trunk or boot under the seat), one for horses and one for people. I learned a long time ago that if you're prepared for the worst, it doesn't happen.

Hi, Friends! I'm sure the gathering at June's was fabulous!

Martha, what a great TOPP for this page! I'm glad you could pop in for a visit!

Cyn, I feel so bad for Emily! What an awful experience! I can't figure out if the biological mother has a brain - or if she uses it. How can a car be more important than your own child? Did she think she was going to impress Emily with a new car?

Broni, I hope the medications are working!

Suzy, I wasn't even thinking of security for audio-visual equipment. Before I retired, teachers would usually try to have whatever equipment would be necessary either set up or easily accessible. That has probably changed here, too.

June, it sounds like you had everything under control for today's meet. You did the right thing to try to rest your back; too bad the situation didn't encourage it. Good for Ken for his help, and good for Laura for hers!

Gail, what a wonderful 'find!' You must be thrilled to have discovered what was in those boxes. (We have boxes in our basement that haven't been opened in over 20 years, as we were at the house before this for 20, and never had a place to unpack and sort the 'unessentials'. Hubby says to just throw out the boxes. I say we need to go through them! Either way, we need to find or make time to do it.

Suzy, we join in with Alie and her excitement! I hope she can calm down and get some sleep between now and her performances!

June, I hope your were able to get some decent sleep once Laura went to her own bed! I can't wait to hear about your gathering! How I wish I could have joined you!

Heidi, Flash is indeed very well behaved! I hope his training goes well and his new owners realize what an excellent horse he is! Have fun on the trail ride/drive tomorrow. You certainly seem to be well prepared! You're right, that often helps prevent any problems!

Suzy, I'm so sorry Alie made you wait so long! I'm sure you were anxious to get on the road! Have a safe drive!

Thanks for the update on Viv, Cyn! Viv, we're thinking of you and hoping each day is an improvement on the prior day!

Good evening friends, I hqd q safe trip to my sister's house this afternoon. Dropped off some things at Joy's house, on the way, only a 5 minute detour.

Sister needed some of my nursing skills, for a problem often associated with to many pain killers and muscle relaxers. All systems go now, thankfully.

Sister and great niece had a surprise for me when I got here, Becca had baked me a cake for my birthday. It was yummy, chocolate cake with chocolate icing, of course.

Joy sent sis some soft elastic waiste pull on lounging pants, tickled Edna. She was tired of the 2 pair of white ones she had.

We had an excellent dinner tonight, Becca had it all ready, veg cooked, chicken breast thawed and marinated. All I had to do was grill the chicken and dish up the salad.

Gail, so happy you found the jewelry in the box, what a great find.

Heidi, have fun tomorrow, I hope you have a pleasant day weather wise. Flash did behave well, makes you proud, right?

Hope the Rolanda meet was one huge success, and June can relax now!

I am off to bed, sorry if I missed your comment. Hugs to each of you, with extras. Till tomorrow

Hi folks.

Woke up this morning with 3 dogs on the bed with me.. Zoe sleeps in my room and wanted to greet Lachie when he got home. He let her out.. faire enuff..but that allowed the other two to sneak in..
It is a BIT cold...no wonder they wanted in!

Need to get into the lounge and quickly sort through the boxes in front of the heater.. it is very efficient and takes the chill off the whole house. At the moment all the stuff being stored in there makes it a fire hazard.

Been thinking about the Sydneysiders and looking forward to next Sunday.

Gail it is a BIG worry that you are inspiring me.. Haven't read past your comments! Need to get to work.
Also...Lachie isn't working and would like the mobile broadband.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

I think everything went well. Enough food left over for a few more feeds for us. Unfortunately the weather was a bit cold but that did not dampen everyone's enthusiasm. It was great to meet Rolanda and also Amelia (and Bill). Bit worried about Suzy having to drive home alone as it is a long trip. I only took a couple of photos and we did not do a group one. I am on Ken's computer as Laura has taken over mine.
I have also had a bit of a sleep as I am exhausted.

I made it home safe. Sent you an email June as I don't seem to have your mobile number. Glad I didn't call if you had a nap.

The weather on the way home was terrible, but I have driven home in worse, back in my younger days.

I had a good time and another group of sudoku people know how boring I am in real life. The younguns did too, though I bet they were cold once they stopped running around!
