I got back at midnight, totally exhausted, and crashed. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the time spent with friends. The rodeo was great as always.

I got an email from my friend Anita that Oliver is having a great time. They all adore him and are having a laugh at his antics.

I read all the posts, but my brain isn't letting me remember much from the previous page.

Mama.... the gall of those people!!! It sounds like they make a practice of harassing the elderly. Their behavior is inexcusable. This is the #1 argument against outsourcing technological service jobs to people who are not accountable and don't care.

MizT.... you really need to communicate all of your pain and problems to the PT people. You should not be in so much pain after the treatments. Pain is the indicator that you're doing something wrong. Talk. Reassess. You need a better quality of life, not a worse one.

The rest is a blur, and will come to me once I wake up.

Hi all. Had a nice Sunday. We took to kids to a park today. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton. We got to see their new turtle hospital. One of the sea turtles is being released this week. It was a nice afternoon out. After that, we took the long way home and drove along the beach. It is beautiful scenery and I sometimes forget to admire it. I think all of us tend to forget the beauty of the places we live closest to.

Sounds dreamy Tami, and you are right. We do take our own 'backyard' for granted, sometimes we meed to see it through our tourist eyes!

Hello folks!
It's a lovely day, sun shining and birds singing. :)
Have now done a little bit of C. shopping - wow! Yesterday was a local market and we saw lots of nice things ... starting to get a few ideas. :)
We've been working in the garden, tidying things up a bit. TOO hot yesterday, but still we got stuff done.
Hope you're all well and happy.

Greetings, Everyone! It looks like it has been a quiet day on SA.

Broni, I hope you have another good day at work!

Heidi, so glad you had a good day and enjoyed the rodeo. Hooray for Anita, her family and Oliver! Sounds like a good match has been made! I totally agree with your comments to Mamacita and to MizT!

MizT, don't be afraid or reluctant to speak up to the therapist and let him/her know your reaction and pain from PT. Something needs to be addressed!

Hooray for Tami and family and an enjoyable day and chance to enjoy the scenery in 'your own backyard.'

Gail, it's good to hear that you are making progress in your own backyard!

Judy, I guess it's good that somebody has begun some C shopping. Too busy getting ready for a houseful for Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) with some of them staying for a week. Luckily there is some time in December for the C shopping!

Time to head to the Land of Nod! Sending lots of positive thoughts, healing vibes, prayers, and {{{{{HUGS}}}}} for all!

Evening all,
Not here, procrastinating...

June, think of you, hubby and MIL. I hope she is comfortable.. I'm a bit jealous of Laura spending time with those beautiful puppies...Congratulations on your bowls win!

Gail, I would be loving it! A beautiful home to sit around reading with no guilt! Heaven...

Midge, hope you are having a good day..

I didn't forget!

Mamacita, Jazz is making you work out because he loves you. He wants to make sure you keep active.

MizT, I hope you are pretty much pain free now. I agree with the others, talk to your therapist - I don't think it should hurt that much!

Tami, that sounds like a wonderful day!

Heidi, I'm not a rodeo kind of gal, but you made it sound like fun. I'm glad you had a good time..

Judy, want to do mine for me? I have no idea what to get everyone this year!

Work anecdote of the day: I was asked at the last minute to help with supervising an exam. At the beginning they told the kids there was a misprint on the exam and it was 30 minutes not 60. It wasn't! Someone just looked at it and knew that trying to keep kids quiet in their seats for an hour with that paper was going to be torture. Most of the kids were sitting there waiting for the 30 minutes to finish. 4 of them asked me what 'grievance' meant (it was a Work Education exam). I'm guessing I wasn't supposed to say anything, but I just kind of whispered complaint. Close enough.

Family anecdote: Alie's high school is having year 10 exams this week too. Last night Alie made a comment that she wasn't going to do well in Math today as she had forgotten the stuff from the beginning of the year and she can never remember her techniques in English. I said 'that's what study is for', and left it at that. I thought duh, but I was really good and didn't say it. Anyway today she was so nervous she threw up all day! They gave her special provisions and let her do her English exam in the library - where she threw up in the teacher's toilet. She still hasn't done her math exam...

Morning.

I have the grandies after school tonight for a few hours, so thank goodness I had a relatively decent night's sleep. Except for this nasty cold, I am OK, even the feet.

I watched the Remembrance Day ceremonies from Ottawa on TV yesterday ... totally awe-inspiring. I wept openly during the veterans' parade. To see so many veterans from all the wars walking (or in wheelchairs), and the students from the Royal Military College, RCMP, etc., with the crowds holding signs saying Thank You, it was mind blowing. And so many of the faces in the crowd were young people! Then at the end of the ceremonies people put their poppies on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as a final tribute. All I can say is WOW.

Morning all. Coffee is ready, help yourself.

Heidi, I went to a rodeo in Colorado in 2007. We all had a good time. It was the first time I had been to a rodeo. Dylan actually bought us the tickets. He found $50 just before we went away and he said he was using it for the trip. It was funny as he got in free

A hard day yesterday. We had the funeral of our friend who passed away the night we got back from the cruise. As a retired policeman it was well attended by police and all his friends (several hundred) We then took Neil to see MIL and to the airport for him to fly back to Melbourne.
Mil's BP drops dramatically when she stands up. That means she has no balance and would fall over. They say they are trying to get her able to go home. There is no way anyone of us could look after her as she is at present. As she says, what is life if she has to sit around all day and cannot go out to bingo etc.

Good Afternoon, Sunny and quite warm here...far too warm for this late in November, but I'll take it any day over the dreaded coming cold and wind.
Seems like it was pretty quiet over the weekend..hope that means most of you were having an enjoyable day...wishfully we could all enjoy the gift of life w/o the pain and discomfort many have been dealing with.
June, my heart goes out to your MIL...I felt the same way and told my kids that I'd rather die when I was in the nursing home rather than to live w/o freedom of movement or the ability to even speak...Thankfully, God wasn't ready for me yet, so I was given a pass...but I do so remember that helpless feeling.♥
Suzy...yes, Jazz loves me, However, he is such a spoiled doggie....much like the cat friends speak about the cats demanding ways, Jazz doesn't like to have me spend what he thinks is too much time on the computer...and don't pick up a book around him ...he will find a way to make me pay attention to him....but I love hiom anyway..lol.
Tami, keep enjoying the beauty of Florida, but when you tire of it a bit, come visit and we'll enjoy the beauty of Bucks County ....and of course some of the other near-by beauty...and there's lots of it...
Glad you enjoyed the rodeo Heidi, I've never been to one, but I do love to watch horses and those who ride them so I guess I'd enjoy it too...not too sure about the bulls and their roll in a rodeo .
Rola...this must be your year, the new house and son coming home for the holidays too...wonderful if it happens the way you want.
Theresa...good to hear that your feet are doing well and you're getting some sleep...always nice to be well rested when dealing with the young ones. The televised tributes to the veterans sounds lovely.
Judy, it seems strange to know that you all are Christmas shopping in summer heat....No matter how long, or what I know intellectually, .Christmas is still only real in my head when its cold. Even when I have spent time in warm climes during the holidays it didn't seem real...but glad you were smart enough to get started...like Julie said, there is time in December after our Thanksgiving to think about that...and it should be cooler then too...LOL.
Happy Monday/Tuesday or what remains of it for each of you. Peace.♥

Morning all,
Quick drop in as I'm meant to be getting ready for school. Just as I went to get in the shower the other shower started up - Alie must have not had hers last night... It doesn't really work to have both showers going at once so here I am!

June, not a good day for you, other than getting to see Neil. Hugs

Theresa, there seems to have been a resurgence of young people at both Anzac Day and Remembrance Day celebrations here. I remember standing on the school Quad as a youngun listening to the Last Post. It was emotional even then.

Mamacita, hubby insists our cat is half dog!

Well off I go, the shower has stopped - my turn now! Kind of nice as at the 'other' school I'd already be on my way by now.

Mamacita, I would love to come visit you. My hubby went to Bucks County Community College. He lived in Yardley for a few years Right now my budget is non-existent for travel. Hubby's car is in the shop with a $250 repair bill and another $250 that we can delay for a few weeks. Mechanic will keep an eye on the other problem. He had to fix the radiator.

Judy - I have made a (very small)start on C shopping.
Broni - I'm so pleased you are happy in this job! And Suzy, you sound happier in yours lately.
June - I feel for your MIL. What is life without being able to pursue one's interests and joys - in her case Bingo. A worry for you all.
Tami - car troubles and paying for repairs or being without a car are never fun. Battery died in my car on Sat night, hated the world until it got replaced on Sunday.
Can't remember anything else - hello to Mama, Julie, Theresa, Heidi, MizT, Gail, Rolanda (yayy, the boy might be home for Xmas) - any anyone I forgot.

Soon I am going to make a foray into the world of iTunes. Even though I have had an iPhone for months I have still not uploaded any music but now I want to do a 'Soundtrack of my Life'- where you collect music that has/had special meaning/memories during your life.
I feel it is so important, especially for someone like me who has all the genetic markers for dementia in my old age. Music evokes memories of a special time, place or person. I saw it work with my parents if they heard a song they recognised. I want to make it easy on my family and have it ready for them.
I have found that often the songs that evoke the memories aren't necessarily my favourites, but they bring back faces and good times from the past. (Example 'Ahab the Arab' reminds me of my Dad who used to love it and make us laugh when he sang it!)

Cyn, I know what you mean about music. I remember dancing to 'The Twist' with my uncle at his wedding. I made sure it was played at my wedding and dedicated to him. I am no longer speaking to this uncle. I refer to him as IU (copied from Heidi). I think your song list is a great idea and would love to hear what some of the songs are, even if you don't give us the reason.

Tami...I know about bills and car problems....but the invitation stands whenever the budget can be worked out. The kids can do a tour of their dad's old stomping grounds..lol. Hand in there...hope things brighten up on all our fronts..I know my pocketbook can use lots of help.
Cyn...What a wonderful idea. I too am into music, but had never thought of it in the terms you mention. That has got to be as important as having a will, etc so that one can make a spark ignite at least for a short while in a loved ones eyes...bless you and thanks for the great idea!♥

Tami - I already have 92 on my list and haven't even got anywhere near the 80's when I met Col!
They range from 'Running Bear' which used to be played last thing at dances or balls when I was young (fun Memory), to 'First Time Ever I saw your Face' which reminds me of having my kids (overwhelming memory) to 'Midnight at the Oasis' which evokes nostalgic memories for me.
Such a mixture of emotions!

Mama... I used to live across the river from Bucks County, and spent time riding there with friends. Bucks is gorgeous. Period. One of the most beautiful areas of the country.

Don't feel sorry for the bulls at a rodeo. They're professionals who enjoy their jobs. The chute opens and they get 8 second to have a lot of fun. As soon as the 8 second buzzer goes off, most stop bucking immediately. They're only asked to do this once every couple of weeks, they're VERY well fed, and when not performing are big pets. They're bred for generations to be sound and good at bucking. Animals who can't handle it physically and mentally aren't used because they don't do a good job. Half the rider's score is based on how well the bull bucks. An unhappy bull sulks and mopes.

Afternoon all, concrete for brains here... I have to read over the work I have prepared for tomorrow, but hopefully I've done enough because I don't think my brain can take anymore today.

Not that it was a very mentally challenging day, just looooonggg... I supervised 2 ESSA exams (computer based) - the state wide science exam. In my supposed period off I supervised a year 10 class who were let out of the exam early. The last period I had year 9 and they were in mischievous moods... I'm finding it hard to come up with pracs for plate tectonics. Alie suggested one with peanut butter to show what happens at the mid-ocean ridges. Sounds like fun, they get to eat the prac!

Tomorrow I'm starting an electricity unit with year 8, year 11/12 are at SKYDS (a safe driving thing) and I have to supervise a year 10 exam in lieu of the class I would have had. I bet I get another meadowbank class! They are piling those on me! (Those are the classes teachers get when year 12 leaves). I don't think they are meant to get as many as I am getting...

Depressing when supervising the science exams to have students ask me what a variable is, and to watch over a student who has the simple task of ordering by size the sun, moon and earth - and put them in that order! Another had to put six or so different things next to something that was a feature of it. Very depressingly she put a plant under wedge tail... yes, eagle was an option.

Eventually got to visit Celia in hospital yesterday. I was just about to put my coat on to go at 2pm yesterday when another friend (Lesley) came to the door looking for a bit of company. I didn't let on I was actually going out and she stayed for a couple of hours. It was nice to catch up with her. By that time visiting hours for the afternoon had finished so I had to go in the evening. Celia was a little brighter, back to her old self wanting to be out of hospital even though she wouldn't be able to look after herself. Staff wouldn't tell me anything as I am not down as her next of kin. I had to let her think that I wasn't taking my car with me when I visit or she would expect me to take her home. This may sound very bad of me but this time her family are involved and they can sort things out for her.

Sorry for being rude. Hello everyone, hope you are all well or getting better.
I have just made some plum jam! I got some plums out of the freezer the other day meaning to make a crumble with them but didn't get round to it, so I decided to make a couple of jars of jam. Hope it sets properly as I only had half the quantity of preserving sugar I needed so had to use ordinary sugar to top it up.

PROUD MUMMY MOMENT

Tonight was the exhibition of some of the works produced by this year's course that Hannah has been doing. Can't tell you how blown away I was with her work. I always knew she was brilliant, but she really aced this! There are too many photos of her work to try putting up, and I can't choose which are my favourite few...such a dilemma :)
I won't bore you with them all, but will try and choose two or three...

I got the cows fed. I'm so glad that I take the extra time to shut gates behind me between rolls, because they tried to change pastures on their own today. None of the pastures have much grazing left, so we're feeding hay and saving the clean pastures for calving.
