I'm sorry Cyn, but I laughed! I probably wouldn't have if I'd seen it happen, but you told it so well!!

Forecasters have said the S word, snow tomorrow. Perhaps 1 to 3 inches, but mostly on grassy areas, trees and elevated structures. Ground, highways too warm for accumulation. A very good day for soup, ya think? Friday temps will be in 50's so this will be a short lived snow, however much we got.

My cornbread is made, had a shower, only have to do tea (for iced tea) tomorrow morning. that means I can sleep late

Heidi, I do hope the tenderness in back subsides. You need a good one this time. I could only see the thumbnail of your photo of the birds, but even then they looked spectacular.

Bean, go to the gym at 1 am? You are dedicated. I do hope it helps with your stamina.

Suzy, I felt for Dana turning both anklesthe same day. I had terribly weak ankles growing up. Doc suggested ice skating or next best, roller skating to strengthen them. Worked too. I remember spending one Christmas Eve night in ER cause I turned ankle when I stepped out back door at Mom's house, to shake crumbs from table cloth. ruined a Christmas outfit another time, cranberry suit, when I turned my ankle going ut the back door carrying a quart of gravy to Mom's for Christmas dinner.

Forgot what else I read, OH, Suzy, I do hope they have the nearby fire contained before extreme fire weather next week. Only once have I smelled smoke from a huge forest fire, and it was several hundred miles away, in Florida everglades. Irritated my eyes so badly I had to get drops for them. NO danger of fire for me, but oh that constant smell of smoke was most unsettling.

Gail, hope you and bean both get your garden watered. Wishing you rainfall soon to put the fires out and save the gardens.

Now, off to bed this time, leaving hugs for each of you behind, with extras. Till tomorrow.

Afternoon Everyone.

Thankyou for the 30th Wedding Anniversary Wishes. It was an interesting day!!
A long Drive home towing the Caravan, 400ks/250miles, in OTT HeatWave, 6 hours of Airconditioned Car.
Once home.. discovered some lowlife had thrown a Rock in one of the bedroom windows, fortunately did not get in the house.
Brenda to answer your question on TOS, the neighbours did not hear, she had been checking our place, and said it must have just happened.
The side of the house where the bedroom is, is a vacant block. (A water meter appeared on that block yesterday, which means soon building will be happening soonish)
Window Man came and fixed the window the afternoon we came home.
Hubby and I went out to dinner at the local motel restaurant. twas noice.

Hello everyone. It is 10.30 at night and still hot. Hubby has dragged in the noisy but effective portable aircon into our lounge as the house started getting very hot inside after we arrived home. The house is still here, no thanks to firebugs! The lowlife mongrels lit 3-6 fires within a small area some ten kilometres from home, kept several fire units including one of ours very busy all arvo. I am a pacifist but sometimes even my goodwill is tested...

MizT, I've passed on the ice skating advice to Dana. We actually have an ice skating rink here for the month of January. I'll look into how much it costs. Alternatively she's going to look into roller blades.

Rolanda, bugger about the attempted break in! If you just read the pages and don't try to comment on them you might make it through.

Cyn, it can't have been too bad - he married you!

Gail, *^&&%(^( arsonists! I object to calling them firebugs. That makes it sound like a prank, and it's no prank - it's criminally dangerous behaviour!!

It was 37 degrees in my office earlier today so I'm sitting in the lounge room on my teeny tiny computer. Much cooler in here.

The back is still tender, which is a good thing. That means it was a good one.

I always had weak ankles, too, and have had more than my share of falls. But never 3 in close succession like Dana did. That was inspired. I lived in the frigid north as a child (9 months of winter, 3 months of bad skiing weather) and had to ice skate. It always seemed to make my ankles weaker, not stronger. Plus, I always felt that people have no business playing on ice. You can get hurt that way.

Good Morning all... Just saw this on tos from Jane.

My darling Jaime is at rest. In the early morning hours of January 17, 2013, Jaime passed away in his sleep at home.

Please know that I am grateful to all of you for your love and support during this difficult time. I am also so glad that my sister Carol was able to be here with me.
I know many of you no longer check easy or FB...and want to extend your condolences.

Morning all,
So very sad about Jaime. Even when it's expected, it's hard!

Gail, may you have an arsonist free day!

Heidi, the birds are lovely...

It's a lovely cool morning here this morning. The fire danger is severe, which is 2 steps below the catastrophic one we had a week or so ago. Alie and I are heading out for the day. Hubby is on watch duty, though I'm not sure how he's going to get 2 cars out of here alone if he needs to. I've just convinced myself it will all work out in the end.

So very sad about Jaime, even though we knew it was coming. My heart goes out to Jane. They were such a great couple, it will be hard to be the one left behind.
Jane, along with people like Mama and Mo (and lots of others including Gail Suzy and Rolanda) were instrumental in me deciding to become a member and start posting. I wanted to be a part of it and have never regretted it. Has anyone? No! (Answered for you, lol).

We had the BrickPaver Man come by this early this morning, to quote on where we want paving out the back.
He should be able to do it in about 3 weeks time :) ~ YAY less sand!!!!
Once we know how much Squ Metres it will be.. we can order the Pavers.
and
Peter rung the 'LawnMan' this morning, he is coming out early next week, and look and quote at where we are wanting 'fake lawn'.. both out the back and the front. P says he is a Landscaper as well.. LawnMan maybe could come up with an 'idea' of what we 'want' the Front to look.

Hi folks.
Sad news for us all... even when expected. I am SO GLAD that Carol was able to be with Jane. RIP Jaime.

We are having a brief respite from the heat... at 8:30 am it was finally cooler outside than it is indoors.. good to open everything up..doubt I will get things cool inside before the heat is back though..average 26-28degrees throughout the house. Not sure how much water there is in the surrounding suburb.. we seem to have quadrupled out bird population. Love watching them having a bath in the water feature.. it has lots of large pebbles so is very suitable..

My thermometer just outside the front door reads 45*c. Back inside with AC and fans.
Official temp for Sydney airport is 46*c or 115*F. One of the hottest temps I have seen in Sydney.

But before I lay me down to sleep, ..... today was the court date for Maxine's BF (assaulting 3 social workers). I felt really bad because I couldn't be there for her. Well, the lawyer got them a continuance, so I should be able to make the next court date. I know Maxine was a lot more relaxed last time because I was there for her. And I got the BF to relax last time, so he didn't hurt the case with his temper. Maxine knows that she doesn't want to be with him much longer, but she feels the time isn't right yet for her to make that move.

NOT good June..take care... keep cool..

Heidi so glad it was a 'hurtie'...
What do I mean.. 'I will not be here for much longer.'? I certainly didn't mean anything sinister but until I see my surgeon at the end of the month and talk treatment options over with her who would know.. I don't think her chosen option to keep me cancer free is working... finding it very hard to live with the side effects... have committed [in my mind] to trying it her way until my birthday..

I love my home and have invested a lot over the last 18months in education... to work up an income stream to keep me here. Had a plan to subdivide, build 2 units and live in one and sell/rent the other. Lots of pro's & con's. That would work with the fact I like being so close to the CBD.. what doesn't work is that I have to be able to survive until that is an option.

I do not like living below the poverty line... it is VERY difficult. To put it mildly.. I had a 'problem' with accepting social security.. crazy when you consider the amount I have paid in taxes over the last 40 years. 62% of people below the poverty line came from households with social security as their main source of income.. that income just happens to fall $100 below the poverty line in this instance..

Without my health care card I couldn't meet my medical expenses. Interestingly enough some of the people that I have supported & helped when they were doing it tough are helping me out. Barter is alive and well.. the 'locksmith' did all his work in return for his dinner.. and a dose of my philosophy on life. He found it fascinating..

Today we had SNOW! It came with thunder even, and was snowing sideways. first hour of this blizzard like conditions, it was melting as fast as it fell, the temp was too warm. but the snow brought it's own cold with it and the next 2 hours, everything began to turn white, roads and parking lot included. then as quickly as it started, it stopped. sun came out, the white coverings on evergreen trees disappeared first, windshields on cars developed an 'eye' that opened wider and wider, snow fell off the bumpers in great clumps. It is still just above freezing, the streets are wet with melting snow, and if temps fall as expected after midnight, there will be a coating of black ice on roads and everything. tomorrow brings more sun, and by noon it will be 54 sunny degrees! Welcome to Alabama, if you do not like the weather, just wait around a bit!

We had our residents' soup lunch today, I counted about 10 different soups. I opted for 'the green one', no one could say if it was split pea or broccoli, it was pea, and very good. While at lunch, one of the staff came up to me and asked if I had pushed my panic button. Nope, just sitting here eating my soup. Two medics were behind her. It seems my button went off, they tried my home phone, guess what? I was not home to answer. they did NOT try my cell phone which was in my pocket, I get a record of incoming calls and they were not listed. I got a TXT about then from Joy, they had phoned her also. Only third time my button has accidentally gone off. another resident, Charlie, suggested I turn it over, put the button to the inside, even managed to turn it for me (the Velcro will not come undone to take off and turn, had to turn it while on arm). I hope that reduces the number of false alarms. Second one today poor medics had to answer in our building. I imagine they now hate those buttons! someone should have sent soup back to the fire hall with them, there was lots leftover.

Joy was in ER this evening with back hurting, has hurt for a week. she was going to urgent care, but they were closed due to weather. Only thing they did in ER was test for kidney problem, urine test was OK, sent her home with an anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxer. Luckily she has GYN yearly appointment Monday. They will look further into cause of back pain. Joy said it felt like a cyst on ovary like she had once before. I hope not.

Oh dear, bedtime beds making me nauseated, off to K for some crackers. I spent too much time running off at the fingers, did not get to comment on posts. Perhaps tomorrow. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Gekko my friends.
MizT, had to think about GYN? Think we call it down under the Gyno if I am on the right track.
Heidi, prefer the heat personally, get wet and cool down, have problems getting warm if I am cold. Friend taught me the two sock theory when I was in Melbourne last year freezing my butt off at Phillip Island, used pair go on top of the clean pair and it did make a difference.
Bean, did I miss the 'C' or has CRAFT's finally taken over?
Hope all my friends in VIC and NSW are safe from the fires, had a big grass fire close to home here yesterday afternoon but they have it under control. Amazing seeing so many cars stopping to watch it....no brains!
I hope Jane has the support that we have here.
Bean, you did ask about my new car. Well I am flying down to Melb 7th Feb to pick it up, then travelling to Echuca for the Sthn 80 Ski Race with the family. Then driving back home from there. Hoping I may be able to catch up with some of the NSW crew on my return trip, no definite plans yet but hoping to take a week on the return trip.
Love and Hugs to you all.

Excuse me while I have a panic attack. Another fire - even closer!!!! Emergency warning!! Heading more toward my brother's place than mine - he's packing up his caravan as we speak. It could scoot around just west of his place and then hit the river... everything crossed!!!!

Okay, settling down a bit right now. I'll feel better when I know my brother is out because he's in a one road in and out property and at a minimum that road could be closed. We're far enough west that without a wind change (the forecast one has already come through and it's in our favour) we are safe, but I've got the radio on and I'm watching the RFS site - though they're showing it in the wrong place!

Good one Cyn... who fell for who?
I've had some spectacular falls.. Pretty amazing one was at my deb ball.. managed to curtsy, survive the debutante waltz & the Pride of Erin.. Freestyle.... our get out of jail extravaganza and I went A over T... legs in air.. deb gown billowing around my ears... in those days we wore suspenders & stockings... I felt somewhat exposed.. thankfully the local rag thought fit to do the decent thing and not print that shot..
