I was sitting here wondering how Alie was going to get 30 people to hold their breath by Monday so she could do finish her science experiment by the deadline. Apparently what you do is ask your online friends to time themselves and tell you the times. What did we do before facebook???

Think I just grossed everyone on Easy with my story of Bella bringing in a dead rat yesterday afternoon. Sarah Beth told me on the other site that Bella loves me?

Hubby said the internet was going to be slow due to the wedding, apparently all the servers knew it would be this way. It is all back up to pace now.

Morning all - we are supposed to have 2 sunny days in a row!!!!!

I read on the news a few days ago that average rainfall for us for the month of April is 60 mm, and so far at that time we had had 160 mm. No wonder I was down in the dumps. Spring has finally arrived I think.

Hubby is working today and tomorrow. D and her family are out for the day today to a play place called Cosmic Adventures - an early birthday present for the oldest grandie who turns 8 on May 5. I have the day today with no one asking me to do anything. Hubby won't be home until 8:30 this evening, so it will be a late supper.

What will I do today? I think I might start working on the flower beds. It's too early for us to plant anything, but the beds sure need a good cleaning. Let's hope my right arm and shoulder are OK for a while. I'll start with the beds that show from the street.

First, more coffee. Yum.

Broni, you better watch your back. One of these days I am going to send the beastie boys down there to take care of you for me.

I am a troublemaker, but I don't break things.

Right you are Tami. Broni, she does not break things, just bends them out of shape for a while hehehe.

Another cool night, needed heat over night, but will warm nicely as the sun heats us.

I have been enjoying a HUGE pot of soup I made other day. Started it day of tornado, but because of being in Dome for hours, did not finish it till day after. Cooking in crock pot, ham bone soup and there was lots of ham still on this bone. So much broth I froze some for later before adding white beans, potatoes onions, carrots and tomatoes. I need to freeze some of the soup, no way I can eat it all fore it goes bad. Even gave some to AL last night, via feeding tube. He said it had stick to the rob powers. I imagine it does digest slower than the formula, giving you that satisfying "I have eaten" feeling.

Death toll from that storm now is second worse in USA history, and the worse ever in Alabama. The worse USA death toll from tornadoes was in 1923, long before there were any kind of warning capabilities.

One of the worse hit cities in Alabama reports 446 still missing. They do hope many of those reported missing have been found my family who forgot to notify authorities, but that is a high number for one city.

Not as achie this morning, and that is good.

Theresa, enjoy your day alone today, you can use the rest. I am off to the showers, and need to find layers for this morning, I need long sleeves now, but will be short sleeve weather soon/

Hugs to each of you, with extras.

MizT, your soup sounds delicious. How nice that Al could have some too.

I sat outside with my coffee. Oh, how I have missed that! Still coolish, only a high of 16C today, so it will be comfortable getting some things done outside.

Heidi, hope you are feeling a little better. I think I have gone out in sympathy with you, I have had a blinder for two days, but hubby and I think we have finally nailed the cause. It coincides with my cycle, maybe it is an indicator of changes afoot...oh I hope so!

I get shocked each time the fatalities are mentioned. So many losses in some small counties, they will have sadness for many years too.

I hope it all settles down for you Topsiders, this year's weather has been so extreme, it is hard to know what to expect next...

Being spayed was the best thing that ever happened to me. It's so nice not having cycles.
I'm feeling MUCH better today. What's weird is that Robert had a migraine yesterday, too, so couldn't work. I've never heard of contagious migraines before.

My Nephew found and posted this video on facebook. I grabbed the URL there and am posting this for you.

This is 8 minutes of a fly over Cullman, Alabama about 80 ,iles north of me. On a normal day, this would be the lead story in the news. This week, Cullman has hardly been mentioned, because the damage to Tuscaloosa and the western area of Birmingham (Pratt City, Smithfield and other communities) is so very much worse.

This was an F4 tornado in some areas, but not nearly as wide a tornado as in those other areas. On the video you can see rows of houses and businesses destroyed, but houses and buildings behind them and across street are fine. In Tuscaloosa, the swath of damage is 1/2 to 1 mile wide. In Western Birmingham, it is 1 to 2 miles wide.

As the Video starts, look closely. all you see at first is trees down. then shingles off roofs, as the video progresses, the destruction becomes much more severe.

MizT, I don't know how to describe how I'm feeling after watching that video. So many lives lost or destroyed - life is so fragile and definitely unpredictable. And to think there are areas with higher levels of destruction - mind boggling ...

Morning all,
Theresa, it is amazing that you got a day alone for the reason you did. I'm so glad your daughter was able to go out to celebrate your grandie's birthday with her. And that you got to have a day with nobody asking for anything!

MizT, so glad my connection was working this morning so I could watch your video in my offpeak time. I found myself looking at buildings thinking, yes there are places in there people may have been safe, or I hope nobody was in there when it hit! The huge trees laying on the ground as if they were seedlings was shocking. It is scary to think of what might be underneath some of those buildings. Overwhelming!

Heidi, I can't imagine what the family felt watching their loved one picked up by a tornado. I can't imagine what it felt like for her. I am so lucky that I can't imagine it, though my brain has been trying ever since you mentioned it.

Good Afternoon, Everyone! (It's 4:30 Saturday afternoon here.)

I'm hoping everyone has fared well through all of the crazy weather! Guess I'll find out more as I read!

Gail, I'm so glad you had the opportunity to go to the Jethro Tull concert! It sounds like you had a great time!

June, I'm glad to hear that your cold is better! I hope it doesn't interfere with the colonoscopy!

Heidi, condolences to Robert's friend! I just can't imagine how helpless they must have felt watching her being sucked up by the tornado!

Broni, I hope all went well for Pete and he found some way to celebrate life and his birthday!

Heidi, at least Robert had one good weather day to start the clean-up after the storms before more rain came!

Theresa, what great progress your D is making! I hope your hubby's back is improving! Good for you for getting 8 hours of sleep the other night!

Broni, I hope all is going well for you and you are enjoying being unemployed for the time being!

I didn't see the weddng, but arrived for donating platelets on time to see the "first kiss" as I was filling out paper work. I don't think we've had the TV on at home since then. Maybe I can find some stills of the dress - and hats - onlline.

At the blood donation location there are 2 stations for platelet donation. A man scheduled for the same time as I was had already been seated. He had chosen "The Family Man" or something like that for the movie. They said I could watch that - or they could let me choose some other movie and watch it on a small personal DVD player. Since I sometimes have restless legs, I didn't want to risk trying to keep a DVD player resting on them for 2+ hours with one arm attached to a needle, so opted to watch the same movie. It starred Nicholas Cage and wasn't bad.

June, what a shock that must have been to find out the day before Laura's dance that they wanted the children dressed in period costume! She's so lucky to have you for her gran! I never cease to be amazed at the things you can do - like 12 wedding dresses over the years! What a multi-talented friend you are!

Tami, so glad to hear that the retirement party went well!

Suzy, Alie is a very resourceful young lady! What a time-saver to ask your online friends to perform and time the experiment and just report results on facebook!

Broni, Bella chose an interesting way to show you her love! I'm glad our cats never did that! (Of course, it helps that they never go outside!)

Theresa, how exciting that your D was able to go out with the girls and her hubby to celebrate your grandie's birthday! She has definitely made a lot of progress! I hope you have a restful day until they and your hubby get home! (Yes, I know you said you were going to work on the flower beds. I assume if you can do that when you want to and without interruption, it can be restful.)

MizT, I will go to your link to watch the devastation after posting these comments. Your soup sounds yummy! I'm so glad Al was able to have some of it in his feeding tube! I hope he is making great progress!

Heidi and Gail, I hope you are both feeling better and the migraines are a thing of the past! I sometimes think mine are affected by the weather, including barometric pressure.

Theresa, I love your comment about many of our troubles starting with "men" and renaming the change "Ladypause."

Off to check out MIzT's video!

Just watch the video - the destruction is so widespread. I noticed there were related videos from other communities, but just couldn't bear to watch them as well! Positive thoughts and prayers for all those who were affected in any way!
