Boof has messed up again. He can't help himself - a teacher confronts him, he mouths off. He was lucky not to get expelled, but the librarian said he mouthed off but didn't say he swore so he 'just' got suspended again. 10 days in a detention centre this time. Sigh. I have to move out of this town!! I need to get my remaining daughter to be around people with goals and aspirations!!! His mother is lovely, but I could tell by the way Boof and his brother nagged her that she gives in to nagging... he was worried about what would happen when his dad got home though. Don't know what is happening because he is banned from phone and internet - and it is possible he will be grounded for 6 months because that is what was threatened 'if he ever got suspended again'...

Alie is relieved... yeah, I asked if she actually like him too... yes, but he follows me everywhere and I need some time to sleep in ...

Suzy.... You DO need to move to another town. Three and his family circus.... Boof.... and who knows how many others. With Alie's beauty, talents and sweetness, she needs friends worthy of her.

Morning all. I am still really tired from yesterday so I will post more later. I have read the posts but most of it has gotten lost in space.
Julie, when I got married I wanted to wear sneakers, with lace on them, but my mom would not let me. She made me buy heels Walking down the aisle was not a problem. The three steps at the end was. As all my friends guessed I would, I tripped on the hem of my dress. Oh, well, it makes for funny viewing on the video. Yes, I even laughed when it happened. I did not fall, just stumbled, and (soon to be) hubby caught me.

We had a great day yesterday, and I knew it was Friday the 13th. We had a little excitement at the end of the day. We had the kids meet us in the designated spot and when we did head count two were missing. Two of us went back in park and started looking and kids where calling them on cell but the 2 girls were not answering. A teacher walked to the buses and found them there. Got the call that they were found. It seems that they spent the day shoplifting but did not get caught by the park. They were on the bus hiding their stuff in other kids backpacks. It was a big mess and we left over an hour after we should have. Made good time home but I would not want to be those two girls today. Three others seem to be involved also as they knew it was happening but did not tell any adults. If they had gotten caught by the park, they would have been arrested and we would have left them there for their parents to come pick up.

Did you report those kids to the school, Tami? They need to learn NOW that crime does not pay!

If I had been there, I would have been those girl's worst nightmare. I would have held up the bus and sent for Park Security, to turn the 2 of them over to them. Even IH has learned that I'll have anybody arrested who commits a crime on my watch. If you don't have a receipt for it, you pay for it one way or another.

Tami, sorry you had a problem with 2 of the girls. Hope it all gets sorted out and the girls learn a lesson.

Suzi, it seems that boof needs some anger management classes. That kind of "spouting off" will not work out in the work place. Bosses will not put up for it, and now seems a good time for him to learn how to manage his anger.

June and Broni, good TOPPS, thank you both.

Much cooler here today after the t storms went through last night. Second one must have been only rain as I slept through it. This morning it is so humid it feels like I am trying to breath through a wet sponge. Only 99% humidity. Hope it warms up a bit and dries out the air. I feel sticky and the temp out is a cool 62. One should not sweat at 62 degrees. (16.6 C)

Heidi, the assistant principal was on the trip with us and took over the matter of the two girls. She informed the principal. We were already an hour late getting on the road and if we called the police, we would not have gotten the buses back until after midnight. She will be dealing with them on Monday. At the minimum they are looking at: 10 day suspension, writing apologies to the park, paying the cost of shipping the merchandise back and a recommendation of not being allowed to go on any field trips next year. As she is retiring, she can not enforce the restriction on next year. They were separated from the other students on the way home and each was given over directly to parents by the asst. principal.

Tami, what an end to the day!! I hope the rest of it was good. And I hope the parents the girls were handed off to didn't yell at them for getting caught rather than for being criminals...

I'm wondering if the kids whose backpacks they were hiding things in were in on it too???

Little treasures!

They got a lot of stuff. It seems they were stealing most of the day. We think 3 girls knew they were doing it but did not report it. the girls went to the bus early and hid stuff wherever they could.

My big concern with Boof was, what if Alie annoys him - only I didn't think it in those words. She insists he has never yelled at her, but I suspect that is only a matter of time...

MizT, apparently Boof is in anger management classes, but according to Alie doesn't believe he has a problem with anger. I told her that until he accept that he does, he won't change.

June, Mary Poppins sounds wonderful! I hope you enjoy your trip away. Will be thinking of you..

Tami, I can understand your and the vice principal's concern at getting the buses back on time, but by not notifying police, could she and in fact any adults aware of the theft not be charged as accessories after the fact?

It sounds they really made a haul if they were trying to hide it in other backpacks. Might the dollar amount have been enough to be felony theft, which is based on the amount stolen and varies state to state, instead of a misdemeanor?? I am not sure how much it would have to be, but souvenir prices, would not take a lot to get the cost up there.

Today we went shopping. I found just what I wanted for a wedding band, and it was not at all what I thought I wanted hehehe. I thought I wanted a wide yellow gold band, but trying one on, it just was not "me". found one a tad narrower, that has beading around the edges and in white gold and yep, that one was mine. Mighty happy with it now. AND it fits nicely, just snug enough it does not move about, but loose enough to easily slip on and off when needed. Been smiling ever since Al slipped it on my finger.

June and Broni, what a great way to start the page! Thank you for the great TOPPS!

Hello and Good Evening to each and every one of you!

Suzy, it does seem like you're in too small of a town. Heidi said it well; Alie deserves friends who are worthy of her!

Tami, I'm glad you could laugh at your "wedding trip!" How was the field trip? Did you buy a wand at Olivander's? I hope you were able to sleep in!

I dread walking down the aisle for D's wedding - would have preferred being seated before or as guests came in! Plus, we must walk across Michigan Avenue (MAJOR 6- or 8-lane thoroughfare in Chicago) to go from church to reception. I like the idea of lace on sneakers. Hmm, maybe lace AND sequins. Has anyone seen photos from weddings where the groom and groomsmen are wearing colored (I've seen green) high-top Converse (old-school) basketball shoes? I've also seen a photo of a bride wearing red shoes (her favorite color).

Oh, dear, now I've read about the shop-lifting on the field trip. Did the two girls turn themselves and the stolen items in to security and face the music? Did teachers have to go through the bus and all backpacks to find the stolen merchandise? What happened to those who knew about it and said nothing? Oh, I'm SO glad I'm retired from teaching! That kind of behavior can spoil so many things for so many others!

June, I'm so glad you had a good day with D and grand D! I hope you have fun in the snow and your time away will help to recharge your batteries! Safe travels! So nice to have Mary Poppins to look forward to after you get back! Will it be a stage production?

Gail, I didn't realize you had faced similar problems to what Suzy is dealing with. It's so difficult raising children when there aren't good role models and other families don't have similar expectations! I hope you're feeling better, Gail!

Broni, I hope you are feeling better as well!

Tami, I've now read your explanation that the assistant principal was on the field trip and dealt with the situation! That's one of those times when it's nice to have an administrator to hand things over to! (Does that sentence make sense?)

Oh my, Suzy! Boof is in anger management and denies the need for it? That doesn't bode well for the future. Alie needs to create a LOT of distance between herself and him! It's scary what this could lead to.

MizT, I was also wondering about the same concerns.

Julie, my grandaughter wore blue-green 4 inch heels, one of the colors in her wedding. I think she bought them cause the sole of them had a big heart. forget the designer, cause designer shoes are not on my list, but she was happy with them and her peers knew whose shoes they were. there was a photo of her sitting in the grass (in her white wedding dress) and her shoes kicked off casually but perfectly placed.

Yes, I do feel married all over again. Our aniversary was this week, the day of the all day rain, so this was my anniversary gift. It feels so good to be wearing a ring again, over one year since mine taken off my finger for surgery. I never did get accustomed to being ringless.

I am going to try to sleep now. Another huge flare of fibro, and pain meds not working. This is just too too frequent lately. I need to talk to mydoc about pain, but you know, when I am hurting so, cannot do the 3 hour wait in his waiting room. When I am not hurting, I think, OK, this is over and I was just being a wimp. I need to start a pain diary so I can tell him what it is really like when it hurts.

Good night all and hugs, with extras to June and her friend. Hope your trip is relaxing and restful.

Blessings to the newlyweds, MizT and Al

Your band sounds lovely MizT, very similar to my mother's. It was a little wide gold band, with bevelled edges of white gold, very stylish for a later in life second marriage.

Julie, thank you, yes, I am almost back in the land of the living. The last three days I have been racked by a terrible cough, even though I knew I had the infection beat. It felt like I had a skin tear in my throat that just kept 'tickling', causing uncontrollable bursts of coughing, making my poor ribs feel bruised from the inside! Painkillers have helped that, and dry cough medicine seems to be holding the cough at bay. I am still jittery, but it is only going to get better from here.

My wedding ring, which hasn't fit my fingers for over 20 years, was a simple band of white gold. I like simple designs.
