For some strange reason, I think the guy got the date wrong. I think he meant May 21, 22011

Well, it's after 6:00 and I'm still here too.

Suzy, our cat Sweetie is the same way, but only with me. He follows me everywhere, wants to be on my lap every time I sit down, wants to sleep on me. Are you sure Dana didn't intend to give you Dimitri permanently?

Suzy, even if Dana didn't intend on giving you Dimitri permanently, I don't think Dimitri will leave your house.

I'm sure Theresa because she is dropping in every day to see him. She usually avoids us like the plague. Alie thinks these drop ins are reducing my stress...

I soooo want to upload the videos from Friday night to youtube so I can share them with you, but we are already on 49% usage at 12 days with 19 days left to go. Maybe I should look for an internet cafe open on Sundays.. don't think I'll find one.

Suzy, is it possible she is using the kitten as an excuse to visit you?

Tomorrow night I am having a sleep-over with the oldest grandie. Her parents and sister are going to a drive-in, but for some reason she doesn't like them. Her appointment with the psychologist I believe is June 1. She won't listen and she has screaming episodes, twice so far today. I hope it helps.

Hubby took me for a drive today - it was nice to get away. Stopped at our favourite chip stand - first time this year. On Friday we will be taking my MIL for our annual spring drive. I have warned D as she will be home with the girls all day - it's a PA day for them. For my own sanity I have to start distancing myself from D and let her handle things on her own. One day won't hurt her.

Youngest grandie has just started playing T-ball, or I should say learning to play. Last week a little 4 year old boy pulled down his shorts and piddled on the grass. Oh, the innocence of children.

Not even that Theresa because half the time we're not home, which is NOT less stressful..

I think it's a good idea to distance yourself, she will be fine, and I think it will be good for both your D and your grandie.

I'm home and very happy. I only bet on 2 winners all day (12 races) but they were good ones. I came home $45 ahead. The best win was on the Preakness Stakes. I bet Shackleford to win. At 12 to 1 odds.

Suzy, I sometimes think I'm too willing to help her and by doing that I end up not helping at all in the long run. Besides that, I really should be spending more time with my MIL. Both my in-laws seem really frail right now. They have been like parents to me. I love my daughter to pieces, but I have to get out more. I am thinking of volunteering at the Salvation Army thrift store just so I can be with other adults. A couple of hours a week maybe. I know some of the people who do volunteer work there and they are really nice.

It was sunny all day today, contrary to the weather forecast - woohoo. But now all the hot and noisy cars and trucks are out ... plus I can hear fire crackers now and then. I really wish stores wouldn't sell them to just anybody. Last night someone let off a couple just after 11:00 PM and it woke me up.

Of course, It's rained a LOT here all day, but the rain held off at Churchill Downs until the last race finished. We're still having thunder and lightning here.

Heidi, glad you had a good day.
Theresa, I agree that you need to get out. You also need to let your daughter start doing for herself. It is the only way she will get back "on her feet" It can be hard to back off, but you know you are doing it out of love and your daughter will know also.

Good Night friends, I am going to try to get to bed earlier tonight. Feeling better at the moment than I have in weeks, hope it lasts the night. Last night was so restless.

I need to read Suzy's link once I finish here. If I go now, will probably loose my post.

Teresa, yes, you need to get out, and a volunteer job would be a good start. Having conversations with people near your own age really helps.

Heidi, congrats on your win today and being ahead overall for today. You said Shackleford was the best hours running, and he was today.

Tami, any possibility that guy got the date wrong on purpose? I mean, how else did he get that portfolio of $34 million in investments?

Hope to see you all in the morning, and not before. Love and hugs to each of you, with extra for those in need, especially June.

Morning all - what a quiet site - somebody broke it again!

MizT, I applied for early pension, which will start in October. There is a rule that you can't have paid employment for the month before your birthday. So I have stopped looking for work now and will resume my search in October. You are allowed to work while drawing the pension without being penalized. If I can't find work, at least I will have a little bit of money coming in. I lose 30% of my pension by applying early, but I'm going for it anyway.

Theresa - pleased your daughter is on the mend and that is a good idea to volunteer at the S Army. The benefits are twofold - company and escape for you and help where it's needed in the community. When you stopped at your favourite chip stand, did you order 'poutine'? Just heard about that the other day - thanks to iAssociate on FB. Could not get the word because I'd never heard of it before - I hear it's very popular in Canada.

Hi Cyn. I'm not a great fan of poutine (french fries, curd and gravy). It just doesn't agree with my digestive system. D loves it, but she is on a diet so hasn't had it in quite a while.

It's only 8:30-ish in the morning, but I am going for a nap. Hubby is working today and I am sleeping over with the oldest grandie tonight - there is no way I can stay up with her without a nap. I'll be back later - that's a threat, not a promise.

I have had Laura all weekend. She was helping me hang out the washing and the clothes line broke so replacing that is a job for tomorrow!(I have three lines that stretch out from the wall) "friend" was here for dinner and did manage to retain what she ate. It is hard knowing what the future holds.
Nice to see you here CynB and also to see Mamacita.

Evening all,
Too exhausted to comment on your posts, hope I will be able to in the morning..

Yesterday I lifted, loaded and moved heavy stuff. Today I showed up unasked, because they wouldn't ask twice and helped unpack the kitchen. Although they said they had unpacked a lot over night, there didn't seem to be any fewer boxes, so I started digging into them... We made a huge dint and I am hugely motivated to throw a tonne of stuff away!!

Don told them last night to call him today if they needed help, and told me in the car on the way home he would just show up because they wouldn't call - they didn't, and they really needed him. Another friend's husband also showed up. They had 2 paid helpers yesterday - they would with my friend - and they had said they would help today, but they had spent the money they were paid for yesterday on booze and were still drunk this morning... They worked their butts off yesterday and really earned their pay, but...

Now I am walking all bent over but feeling good.

Theresa, so pleased your daughter is improving and you will soon be able to organise your life again. Hope things soon get sorted for the eldest Grandie. I am sure it is related to her Mother's recent illness. We can see a few small problems with our one at the moment.
Great win at the races Heidi.
Suzi, that cat will not want to leave nor you see it go. It might be like the one we have that our daughter brought here 15 years ago and is still here!

Busy day today. First we have the end of season picnic/awards for Dylan. They will have rides for the kids, food, and are giving out the trophies for the kids. After that we have hubby's company picnic. We may come home between them and bring Harley with us to the picnic. Not sure yet. Will try to stop by later. Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning all, a good sleep last night, yeah!

Teresa, the accountant we used when in business advised both Al and I to take early retirement benefits. He said over your lifetime, you will collect more $$$ doing that than waitinng for full retirement, especially now since the full retirement age has been raised. I am glad you did it. And did I say something that you took to mean you should be looking for employment? I did not mean too if I did. I just meant that as a volunteer you could fit it to the hours you are free to give, like you said, 2 hours a week.

BTW, here in the USA, you are penalized for working during that time from early retirement till you reach full retirement age. Once you reach full retirement age, you are no longer penalized for working.

Cyn, I have not seen "Water for Elephants" but read the book some time ago. I loved the book, and hope the movie runs true to the book. glad you enjoyed it. I wonder why it did not please the critics?

June, what a coincidence, one of my clothes lines is broken too. Mine are short, only 8 feet each (2 of them) and I put them up as soon as deck was built, 11 years ago. Al and a helper broke mine, they put up a new TV antena, and "just bumped the line, it was already frayed". Luckily there is excess line on the other end, so so need to hunt more clothesline. Hope yours gets up soon, and with little difficulty.

Speaking of clothesline, I need to do a load today and hang them. Have not got any done in last few days, and today will be hot and sunny, but humid.

June, too funny about the cat that you are still keeping for your daughter, 15 years later hehehe. Thinking of you and your friend and the little one having problems now. I wish I could do more than send hugs, but you got lots of hugs comming your way.

OK, I have waited long enough tostart morning routien. Hubby still skeep, but I must do some stuff, noisy or not. Later friends and sending a big hug to each of you.

Is it Mama's birthday? Happy Happy to you my dear.

Happy Birthday Mamacita!!!

MizT, no, you didn't say anything about me going back to work. I think the last time I mentioned work was quite some time ago. I just wanted to explain why I am no longer looking (for now).

June - big hugs. Kids are not able to express their problems verbally all the time. It is a good thing that you and Laura have a good rapport, she probably feels comfortable talking to you because she can see that you are in pain also.

Well, off to do some weeding. It looks like rain but it hasn't started yet.

Break time and there's a coffee left for me to nuke - how fortunate. I take a lot of breaks because my right arm and shoulder are really bothering me the last few days. One of my cats is licking my hand while I'm trying to type - must have touched some wild catnip.

Theresa, if that is your right hand kitty is licking, you may have a nurse cat! They can tell when we hurt, and licking and purring on it is supposed to make it all better. We have had 2 nurse cats who each could tell where I was hurting before I was aware of it!! I love my living heating pad, AKA Scooter.

MizT, this kitty (Kali) licks whatever hand she can reach, licks arms, faces, hair.

Hubby cut our grass for the first time yesterday - it was very long. It looks so much gooder today. It's still not raining, but it is getting darker. I'm just taking another break. The new lilacs are weeded and I have moved my hens and checked, and planted some seeds. I hope to get a few more things moved, weather permitting.

Hi all. Had a great day at the picnics. Came home and took a nap on the couch. Now trying to figure out dinner. Hubby and I are not that hungry so just have to feed the 2 bottomless pits, I mean boys. I think I have something in the freezer that will work.

With all the talk of gardening, you would think it would get me motivated. I am going to have to take and post before pics. I need to do something out front, just not sure what. I will take pics soon and maybe I could get some suggestions. I can also use rain so for those tired of the thunderstorms, send them south
