Opened a new page on SA so I could comment and found June's comment at the end of the page "Maybe I should 'blow' the egg and keep it for Laura to colour. Thanks Suzy. I remember Sharon trying to but white eggs last year."
Theresa doggy smooshies are the best.
MizT, you keep eating and hope Al's taste buds return.
Wow June, who broke the site? Hope tonight is an accident free night.

Broni - I'm following you around the pages. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality today - It was great to meet David and Janet and to see everyone else again - lovely day. Then I went on to the Scout AGM, Sausage Sizzle and Campfire - magically lit by my son-in-law to many oohs and aahs from the cubs and scouts (and parents). All in all, an enjoyable day!

Gekko all, no word from the partiers??? I hope they all had a great time.

Theresa, I hope the noise settled down. I don't mind loud nights if they only happen every now and then and the base isn't turned up so high that our whole house shakes.

Mamacita, I sometimes use just acetaminophen or ibuprofen for itches. It's not as effective as benadryl but it does help.

June, poor little Laura. Hugs for all of you!

Morning all.

Hubby has just left for work and I have to figure out a way to get groceries. It is time for the big haul. I don't drive, so maybe I'll bug my SonIL to take me tomorrow. We have a grocery store within walking distance, but they are quite pricey.

Another rainy day here with the risk of a thunderstorm. I'll be hopping back and forth from our place to the neighbour's all day. Have I mentioned I love dogs???

Sounds like the get together was a fun time for all. Caramel tarts .... please post the recipe Cyn. Hubby loves caramel.

June, poor little Laura has a lot to deal with right now. You're all going through something terrifying right now and it's particularly hard on such a little person. Hugs to you all!

Last night calmed down at the pub, or at least I was able to sleep. I did notice this morning there were half a dozen cars left in the parking lot overnight, so at least those people had the good sense not to drink and drive.

Off to have another coffee - catch you all in a bit.

Poor hubby is outside freezing his tushy off. Dana called and asked if she could borrow the tent so she could camp down the back. First she couldn't find it, then she forgot she needed a hammer for the pegs. We were talking about how they would be going setting up the tent and I said Alie is the one who knows how to set up the tent, I think they will be sleeping under the stars. Almost as I said the words Alie's phone rang - do you want to camp with us tonight? Alie laughed and said 'you only want me to come to help you set up the tent and no I can't come and help you I have to do my assignment.' Guess who is a softy??? And as thanks he gets to freeze his tushy off.

I should explain a little more about the Scouts thingy. Col has this year become the Group Leader of the Birkdale Scout Group (in Redlands) which was started by his father when he was a boy. He went through the whole Scouting movement up to Leader until work took him away from Brisbane. We met not long after he returned to Brisbane and he just never got back to Scouts. In recent years they have asked him back and he finally agreed this year. He believes in the Scouting creed and has tried to live his life accordingly. Having Lachlan and Madeline, and their Dad as a Leader in Scouts, albeit a different Group helped sway him too. Today he was in charge of his first AGM and Presentation Day, which was followed by a sausage sizzle and a Campfire magically lit by my Son-in-Law (I can't tell you how or I would have to kill you). It all went really well - all the local dignitaries were there - Federal, State and Local Pollies etc. So many people congratulated me on my wonderful scouting family. I can tell you I am a proud wife, MIL and Nanny tonight. (Especially because when I left Broni's I was complaining that I didn't want to go!)

I can't even begin to imagine what poor Laura is going through. So young, and she's spent her lifetime watching her mother getting sicker and sicker. And now at her young age, having to face this! She must find it so hard to understand. Especially since no adults can understand why, either.

Did I tell you about the puppy? Can't remember and if I did, scroll on post this post.

Last night watching TV, there was a yap yap on the back deck, hubby went to investigate. Cute black puppy with wavy hair, and a white spot under it's chin. ( gee I am sure I wrote this before but cannot find it here) I closed the blinds and turned off the light hoping it would go away. No such luck, it was on the deck asleep the two times I looked out last night. NOPE, not checking on the pup, but because such a big scary dog was occupying her safe place, Scooter did not come in last night. I was checking on her.

Pup was still asleep when I took out some trash this morning. It does not know what GIT means, stomping feet at it only entertains. It tried to catch the tiny pebbles I tossed to land near it. It did stay off the porch for a while, asleep in the shadow of the minivan when hubby went to the dome/office. Pup followed him across the yard. when Al went inside, Pup just sat where he was, in the hot sun, waiting to see if Al came back.

AL threatened to take it down to our friend Eddie, he is so soft hearted, would feed it and find it a home, but no telling what he would bring US if he found out we sent it to him. . I would take it to a shelter, but so many abandoned animals now, one must pay to have an animal accepted there, and then it would probably be euthanized. It might belong to a neighbor, but if so, they are not taking care of it. Not sure what to do. We do NOT need a dog. Scooter would never forgive us!

I agree with Heidi, MizT. Besides, the pup, picked you.

Actually here we have an animal control officer as part of our municipal government who looks after things like that (what used to be called the dog catcher). Also, the Humane Society does not charge if it is a stray dog. They also would have the ability to check to see if perhaps the dog has a microchip, and they would also have all the postings for lost dogs. If he is that friendly, he might have a home and just lost his way. Good luck.

No Heidi, sorry, I do not need a dog and Scooter would not get over it, she would do as she has at the moment, just leave.

We do not have a fenced yard for a dog, and I would not let a dog run free as all the neighbors do. I would not chain a dog either. AND no dogs in the house. Nope, we do not need a dog. I have enough to care for with one cat and one hubby

Theresa we are not in an incorporated area, so no town, city to have an animal control office. and none of the neighbors have any idea what micro-chipping is. I think the pup came from the feral family on next street behind us. We get many of their pups here looking for food, as we are nearest house. they always have lots of dogs, none of whom are spayed or neutered, and they have litter after litter. when she is weaning them Mom will often lead pups over this street hoping they can find a home. several years ago, we saw one who got lost from Mom and litter mates, and took it back home via auto. We were met by about 25 barking dogs, so just opened the door and gently set that pup down. Might give that a try for this one if it cannot find it's way home.

Puppies are cute, just too bad they grow up to be dogs!

Tricia, I understand. My puppy looks like a dog, but is still a puppy. I hope the owner finds this lost puppy or the puppy finds someone else to look after it.

MizT, is there an animal rescue in your area? We have animal rescues here that will take animals for you. They are charitable organizations. If you check the internet you might find one not too far away. Wish I could take the pup ... are you willing to drive him here?

Some rescues in our area will actually go and trap feral cats or dogs and have them spayed or neutered and then release them back to where they came from. At least that way it controls the population a bit.

I am enjoying my day looking after the neighbour's dogs. The first time I went over this morning their cat took exception to me being there and tried to bite me (guard cat???) - I don't think he liked the smell of my cats. Then the second time I went over, that cat could not get enough cuddling. When I was leaving he actually grabbed my leg with his front paws (including claws in my pant leg) as if he didn't want me to go. I wish he would make up his mind!

At last I got scooter to c come in. I had to stand on the porch and continue coaxing her. The closer to the porch, the more skittish she became and the pup was not even on the porch. She would not come around the gate, between the pickets as usual, but jumpe3d up on the gate, walked across it to the porch railing, then to the chairs and across them, and to the floor only when she got to me, landed at my feet and made a run for the door, only 2 people steps away. Funny Kitty. she has NOT asked to go back outside. visited with AL while he was inside, and now keeping me company, lying on the computer tower for a nap. Funny funny kitty, she is bigger than the pup. she is not afraid of big dogs, will walk up to them, hiss and swat, but this puppy is a different matter.

Theresa, ahhhh, cute neighbor's kitty! Kitty was not finished with you yet, in case you could not tell hehehe.

Would love to drive the pup up to you, but it is out of my range. I am good for about 30-40 miles at best. I have not made the 70 mile drive to visit sister this year. We went up for Christmas party in December, but I think Al drove them.

Grrrr. The power went off for just a few seconds - just enough to throw off the digital clocks (alarm, microwave, coffee pot. I reset everything, and it just went off again. The sun has disappeared and it is getting darker - must be a storm coming. We are still without power, so I am going outside for a coffee and hopefully I can post this when I get back.

The power is back on for now. There are 4 or 5 bands playing throughout the downtown core as part of the Dandelion Festival - maybe they're just drawing too much power.

MizT, cats don't always appreciate rambunctious puppies.

I think I'll have an early supper while we have power. I have some frozen burritos that I keep on hand for when I'm really desperate - not terribly tasty but they are filling.

It sounds like you have a good idea where that pup came from, MizT. Returning it is a good idea, but do it gently, please. I'm still REALLY mad at the cretins who threw Lucky out of that moving car and caused his brain damage.

We are having friends for dinner tonight. David and Ryan should be here soon and then we are going to order Chinese take-out. We always laugh our a$$es off when they come over. We are being invited to their wedding but will not be able to attend. They are getting married in Massachusetts and we can not afford to go to a destination wedding right now.

Gekko All,
Thanks for the med sharing...I've tried all that have been suggested, along with some others, with
varying degrees of helpfulness, but I do think the benedryle was the best of the group, but I thought you needed a prescription for it, and I can't reach my doctor until Tuesday and won't go to the emergency room just for this. I'll stop by the pharmacy and see if this is so, and if it is , perhaps they will
help. It will have to wait until tomorrow since I haven't left the house today...just too itchy, so have been chilling.
Going to call it a night now, and see if I can sleep...hope all is well or heading in the right direction for every one...Peace.

Hope you sleep well Mamcita.. Something soothing might help with the itch. I take Telfast 180, a pharmacy only medication. I have had hives as a result of stress. So far so good at the moment.
