As I was leaving home this morning, hubby was chatting to our neighbour. He is off to Afghanistan this afternoon to investigate the helicopter crash that killed one of our diggers yesterday.
He expects to be away a couple of weeks. Keep safe M.

Good morning all
Theresa - such good news about your D returning to work albeit part time. It must make her feel much better too.
Ooh June and Broni - teeth trouble, dentists - everyone's nightmare.
Vicki - I just love the tales of Reggie's indoor and outdoor beds.
Suzy - all will go well for you today, I know!

Thanks very much Broni.
As you can imagine yesterday was a bit hectic, especially as Mrs S had a dental appointment virtually as we got off the plane. Why she made it then I don't know. Fortunately the plane was on time and we made it okay. I was going to leave it until today when I had a bit of time to send you a personal message to thank you for your hospitality on Saturday.
As we all said on Saturday, the first time you meet another Sudokuist (if that's a word) you are a little apprehensive. (Love your ax photo) but now Mrs S and I have really got into the swing of things and are enjoying ourselves immensely. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to meet so many players all at one time. Sudoku must attract a particularly nice type of person.
Thank Possum for the great cooking. The chicken was absolutely beautiful. We will both look forward to hosting you both or any of the other Brisbanites when they are down our way.
I will try and download the photo from your gallery. If I have any problems I will let you know so you can send a copy.
Cheers
David

Vicki, just had a chance to check out pictures of doggie bed. I love it. I am sure Harley would love one, but he would probably chew on it.

Broni, hubby won't be quitting his second jon any time soon. We have to make up for the money we "loaned" to D's family. I won't be able to look for work until at least October.

I hate dentists, so Broni and June, HUGS!

Maybe I'm the only one here who doesn't mind those dental contraptions. I used to be terrified of them, but have had so much work done that I now fall asleep during root canals.

Bit greebly in the tummy Judy, but generally fine, thank you very much. Hope you are well too.

In these cases, I feel so much sympathy for the train drivers, they don't sign up for this.

Did the shopping. Al did not find phones for us, and there is a terrible buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz on ours, phones need replacing.

Al did eat a small dinner tonight, a bit of that burger from last night, smashed taters, deviled egg, said that is the first thing that really tasted as it should and a bite of steamed squash.

If we stick to really bland foods, no seasonings at all, it seems to be working for him. Still only a bite or two of each, but more than yesterday! Told him tonight, I just bought 6 canisters of the Carnation for making his formula, but if that is what it takes to get him eating, we will just have a year's supply of hot chocolate.

At the grocery he wanted some salt free potato chips, and would you believe I found the only package in the grocery. Am I good or what???

Night to all, I am ready to call it a day. hugs to each of you, with extras.

Afernoon all,
Another day under my belt, and not too bad. A couple of difficult children, but for the most part okay.. my feet ache! I told one of them that his comment was mysogynistic - which I of course had to explain - he called a girl a stupid b1tch. I found out later that he tends to arrogance in class.

Gail, suicide makes it so much harder for everyone involved. My thoughts are with the train driver, family and the young girl.. It's a very selfish way to take yourself out of the picture. Hope our tummy is feeling better.

Cyn, how is your grandie today. I know physically she would be feeling better..

Theresa, it must have been nice to get out and about with your daughter instead of her having to ask you for help and you having to work! Did you have a chance to stop for a cuppa while you were out?

June, I hope your dentist appointment wasn't too painful - either to your mouth or your pocket!!

Broni, you might need to go on new antibiotics for swollen glands as they are probably a different bug. Yikes! Great message from Saylz.

Vicki, it is wonderful having a tradie in the family, at least if you are a dog. It might be more difficult to get stuff done around the house... Thoughts and wishes to your neighbour, I hope he stays safe.

MizT, how wonderful that you and Al have worked out what works for his taste buds right now. I hope he is up to eating more very soon.

Morning all - can't sleep. Severe heartburn woke me up. So of course I had to come here and see everyone.

MizT, it's good to hear Al is starting to eat a bit more.

Gail, feel better soon ... that's an order young lady.

Suzy, how long will this stint of teaching be? No, D and I didn't stop for a cuppa, but maybe next time.

Today is going to be another warm one, but hopefully not as bad as yesterday - that was just stupid hot! We don't normally have such high temps this early in the year.

Coffee time!

Morning all.
Suzy, glad the teaching went well. I have had students use those same words. I have also had student go to the phone and call their parent. It is amazing how all of a sudden they can't speak. I love seeing the kids reaction when mommy or daddy chews them out when they are still in class.
Theresa, sorry about the heartburn. Hope it feels better soon.
Gail, I can only imagine what the train driver is feeling. I do hope the girl gets help.

No life here tonight, just a bit tired.

I had a girl storm out because she got in trouble for swearing and I hadn't yet had a chance to tell off the person who swore back at her. She had been a total cow the whole lesson and he was just reacting to it. Another teacher caught her in the hall and she spent the rest of the lesson sitting outside the staff room.

So far only 2 days, hopefully they will call again. I've got a lot to catch on because I hadn't planned on teaching so a day off will be nice.

Dentist was OK. Took 1 1/2 hours and a return for the cap in two weeks. He did not use the gag thing and I did have an injection as there was a lot of drilling. I have dozed off in the dentist Heidi, but not today.
My sister came to dinner and I cooked a big pot of mussels.Feeling tired so I might just have an early night.

Good Night broni and June/ Hope you sleep well and wake refreshed, and that is to all the Aussies too!

Coffee is brewing, might have to see if Tami has a pot going. sometimes I think that is the longest 12 minutes of the day, waiting for covvee.

I am trying to plan "little meals" for Al today from things I know he can eat, and add in something new each time. Breakfast bacon and egg with hot chocolate. Lunch crackers and cheese with deviled egg, need to make more eggs this morning. Evening the last of the burger patty, smashed taters, and might cook some frozen peas, no salt in those. I should cook the peas and eggs this morning while it is still cool, relatively speaking.

OH MY WORD it is already 87, feels like 90 oustide, at 9 am, much too hot for this early in June. That is 30C headed for 36C/ 97F Think this shall be a stay indoors day today, I missed what little cool we had this early morning, slept right through it!

More later, coffee is waiting, Hugs to each of you.

Hay is already in here, and they are growing a second crop now. It looked like a good yield, more bales dotted the fields than in the past.

Hot and very windy here. A neighbour (diagonally across the street from us) had a tree come down. I didn't hear it or see it, but it is resting on his roof. Doesn't look like there's too much damage and there's already someone there with a chainsaw. He might need a new privacy fence as there are branches resting on it too. I was having a nap and I think it was the chainsaw that woke me up.

Just heard a noise outside - my garbage cans, and especially the covers, were trying to escape in the wind. They are all empty because today was garbage day. I tucked them into a back corner and tied them together. Let the wind try now ... hahaha!

I have the youngest grandie after school. D has an appointment with the surgeon and oldest grandie with the psychologist. I so hope he (she?) can help her with an "attitude adjustment". I spent about 2 hours with her last night and she was fine. Both girls are starting swimming lessons once school is over, and the oldest will be taking gymnastics.

STRESS MANAGEMENT

Just in case you are having a rough day, here is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological journals.
The funny thing is that it really does work and will make you smile.

1.. Picture yourself lying on your tummy on a warm rock that hangs out over a crystal clear stream.

2. Picture yourself with both your hands dangling in the cool running water.

3.. Birds are sweetly singing in the cool mountain air.

4. No one knows your secret place.

5. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the world.

6. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.

7. The water is so crystal clear that you can easily make out the face of the person you are holding underwater.

There -- See? -- It really does work.
You're smiling already.

We've had so much rain this year so far that we've been unable to harvest hay before now. The alfalfa was cut yesterday and will raked tomorrow and rolled Friday. Then we'll do the fescue hay (rolls) and the timothy hay (bales).

Tomorrow morning is the big event. At 9 am, I'll be getting my right ear worked on. They'll make an incision in the eardrum, insert a tube and siphon out all of the fluid and infection in the eustachian tube, then put a drain in the eardrum to let it continue draining. I'm SO looking forward to hearing on that side again.

Heidi, I will be thinking of you tomorrow morning, actually tonight my time... Hope everything goes well!

Tami, because they love you!

Theresa, the exercise will probably help your grandie as much as anything. My kids comment about the endorphins when they really work hard and how much they like the feeling!

June, I can't understand why an hour and a half in the dentist chair followed by entertaining, even if it was your sister, would tire you out! I hope you slept well and feel refreshed today..

Gekko my friends.
Actually slept in this morning and the sun is shining.
Love your "covvee" MizT, will have to add that to the FFS words. Hope Al is able to nibble today.
Tami, the same reason 31kg, 8yo dogs still think they are puppies and lap dogs!
Heidi, I know who you are picturing!!! From your comment on easy, have you been getting more calls?
Love and hugs to you all.

Five pearls of Wisdom to remember:

Daughter of neighbour whose dogs I looked after came here - part of the fascia/soffitt of roof was pulled loose with the wind. She was home alone (she's 16 or 17). My SonIL went over and tacked it up a bit because of the fear it would tear loose all the way and hit someone passing on the street. Hubby is working tonight, normally he helps neighbours out.

This young lady just got her long hair cut short in the back with strands at the side left long. I actually like it and told her so. She also has a pet snake that I have petted before - I'm working my way up to holding it one of these days.

Off to do a few chores and then maybe I'll watch a bit of TV, or sit outside and daydream .....
