Gath for adjusting the clock!

Noone told Gath the clock was wrong? How funny! We were all talking about it, but it had been wrong for so long when I checked in, I thought he had received a dozen e-mails but had just not read them yet. Next time, will send off e-mail and if he gets 20 about some problem, well, he can delete 19 of them! This is too funny.

Good early morning friends. I am awake and aware a bit early for daylight savings time (we have 6 more days till change) but because my computer did not communicate with the powers that be "time wise", my computer clock tells me what time it is NEXT WEEK, back on standard time. I always get confused at time change, I can set the clocks correctly, but that is about all. My body will get all out of sync, often doing s Gath's site clock, and go the wrong way for a few days.

Ruby, our official chang of time is 2 am also, on Sunday morning early. We just call it Saturday night cause what is when MOST people change thier clocks, before going to bed.

Now for a TRUE funny story. My MIK wuld set an alarm for 2 am, get up and change every clock in the house. did this her entire life, and usually managed to wake her family in the doing. when my husband was a teen, and had figured out this clock stuff, he tried telling his Mom, you do not have to get up then! You set the clock before you go to bed and it is correct when you wake up. but she INSISTED, 2 am is when the time changed and that is when she MUST get up and change her clocks. She did this as long as she could get up and out of bed, nothng, noone could convince her otherwise. NOW, maybe because of all the times he was awakened for the ritual at 2 am, my husband usually waits till sometime Sunday to change the clocks!

16 centigrade, a gentle wind, and I'm still coughing and spluttering. My eyelids were stuck down when I woke up. OK. Off to see the doc today.

BRENDA, the fire nearest them is still burning, only 65% contained, one of about 5 fires still not considered under control. There is still poor air quality, but not as bad as before. Her father is having headaches, probably from the air polution. Other than that all is well. This Santiago Fire is at the moment burning way from them.

Thank you for asking, and thanks to all of you who have shared my concern during these fires.

DINO, I do hope you get some relief from your drippy nose and cough. Maybe the doc can fix you up quickly.

Stella, I thought you would have more time to chat with all but one of the chicks away at school. It seems you stay busier, traveling to an dron thier games and having first one and the other home for the weekend and all the travel that requires. Check in with us when you can, we miss your Mensa questions.

Hi all, computer back to normal after having its brains scrambled by a lightening bolt. Dino hope you feel better very soon. Miztrica good to know that your daughter is safe but the conditions there must be awful. I have a cousin staying with me at present from UK and she was told it was very hot here so she brought summer clothes, for reasons best known to Mother Nature it is very cold! Even snow down south a bit! She was expecting to lie on the beach plastered in sunscreen, instead she wore two overcoats. Bet it will be lovely after she leaves.

Hi Rolanda, cousin says thanks for welcome, I think she is a bit bemused at how welcoming everyone here is. Kelmscott Show went really well, we had almost finished typing the prize certificates by lunchtime, when we ran out of stationery. Sent one of the ladies off to printers whilst we all enjoyed a lovely lunch courtesy of the Tennis Club. No stationery by 2pm, rang the lady up and she had completely forgotten what she went out for so went home and had a shower and lunch. We did finish by about 3.30. How is all with you and your?

Sorry to hear that you have colds, hope you are feeling better soon. Hopefully the weather will warm up in the next few days. It was snowing on the Stirlings a couple of days ago! She is leaving at 00.55am tomorrow which means we have to be up and about late tonight.

Back from doc with antibiotics. I usually avoid them, but this time they're needed. Anyway, little sign of asthma, so that's another worry less. Stopped for yoghurt, too! Hope you're family's colds don't develop like mine has. Sorry your cousin is missing the good weather, Lynda

Rolanda how did your picnic at the winery go on Sunday? Hope the weather was warm enough for that.
Dino sounds as if you have a very bad infection there keep warm and take all your antibiotics. I feel I must join the sick parade now I woke up on Saturday morning with one eyelid puffed up so much I couldn't see much out of the eye. Eventually had to go to the emergency DR somehow I had got a fungal infection in my eye, so am on antibiotic eye drops

Gail I promise to use antiseptic wipes on everything I touch in SA.
I've just had a bit of good news today. A friend who got herself so deeply into debt that she had to give up having her kids through the week (she is divorced with joint custody)so she could get an evening job has won over a quarter of a million pounds on the Irish Lottery. She is now debt free and has even bought herself a house so she no longer has to rent.

Nice to hear that you are using your caravan. I used to go out in mine years ago (before I married Richard) sometimes only a mile aor two from home and found that it was so relaxing.

Gail it has made a huge difference to her. she now sounds happy when you talk to her and not moaning about not seeing her kids. Trouble is her mother (who has never helped her at all even from a young age) has mentioned that she has had some debt hoping that my friend will pay it off. Thankfully my friend is being 'selfish' and making sure that she and her kids are secure.

Its amazing how many 'friends and long-lost relatives' pop up whenever anyone comes into a windfall! I'm glad your friend has seen straight through her mother and thought about the most important people in her life, herself, then her kids. Exactly how it should be.

Hi Rolanda, Brenda and Gail, Just looked in to see what is happening around here. Hope Dino soon starts recovering from her cold.
Sounds as though your friend is sensible Brenda. So many people who win money blow it all and are worse off than before.

June, up until now I would never have said she was sensible, she would waste money on extravagant presents and even holidays when she knew she couldn't afford them. I'm just hoping that now she is debt free she will think before she splashes out.

She has admitted to me that she shouldn't have put the lottery on and that she spent her last £85 on it. I don't know whether that was desperation or depression making her do something so silly (she admits she shouldn't really have done it but is sooooooooo pleased that she did)

Good Morning Sudokiland! I have the coffee ready, kettle is on for anyone wanting tea. My cup is beside me and needed this morning, to get me fueled and going for the day, and to warm a bit. It is a chilly 47 (8C) cloud free, and headed for a nice warm 70 (22C). will be a wonderful repeat of yesterday.

DINO, happy you are taking your meds now and hope they have you better and better soon. ROLANDA, watch that cold your Mom shared, so no bad chest infections start in you and the boys.

Brenda, happy for your friend, and I do ho0pe she sees an honest financial planner to help her manage her winnings.

Gail, you look strange today, must be that surgical mask you are wearing. You could wear that for Halloween here, you know.
