DINO, is your grandson on medication for ADD? I know many do not want to medicate thier children and I understand that. My niece's husband, who is a teacher at high school level, was telling us recently, there is an alternative to the perscription medications. CAFFIEN! If you give an ADD child caffien, thier attention levels do approve and it calms them down. He was saying there is some in candy form of caffien, was suggesting this as a lunch time treat for a cousin's child who was suppected as being ADD. that and a good strong cup of coffee in the morning ( tea for the aussies) and he did improve. So they moved on to the doctors and he was diagnosed as ADD and now on medication. they are seeing a big improvement. Just a thought for you there.

I am wondering if the increase in heavily caffinated 'power drinks" are so popular because of undiagnoised ADD people out there. these drinks seem to be popular with teenage boys and young men.

OH, forgot to say, GOOD MORNING SUDOKULAND!

Coffee pot is on! join me in a cup of good coffee

Now I have STUFF to do, away for 2 days and sink is full of dirty dishes! I guess I thought the dish fairy would empty the dishwasher I ran as I exited the house and deposit all the dirties from 2 days in there for me. Dish fairy did not come, bummer!

Good morning all! Raining buckets at the moment. D#2 wants me to come to her game (6 hour round trip drive) but I am beginning to question that. First, I (my eyes) don't like driving in the rain (I'd rather have snow), second, what if the game gets canceled by the time I get there because the field is flooded, and third, I don't want to (can't) drive back in the dark in the rain (my eyes are not good in the dark). When I talked to her last night, she was so looking forward to me coming. I'm just praying that it will get canceled this morning!

Sunny sunny skies today, a nice breeze and temps back to 70, the last of Octover, lovely weather and a dad warm for the average here .

I have been working outside today and in the dome and both were fun, but now I am tired and hungry. I have a late lunch ready, waiting on hubby to join me now.

Good mAen all.

Mizt, your comments re caffein and ADD are very interesting. He drinks a lot of caffeine based drinks and he is certainly borderline ADD and is currently seeing a psychiatrist. His mum (my D#2)reacts to caffeine the opposite way to the rest of us and I remember she used to become hyper with phenergan which is meant to clam you down. (I meent calm, but the typo is perhaps relevent! hehehe) So with a history like that, school is going to be problematic.

He and I get on well, so I am optimistic about the tutoring.

Now, can I join you in my caffeine hit?

ADD or not (I probably am too!), i find the time stamp totally confusing. Has Gath got out daylight saving time back to front? Its 2.32 according to my laptop and 12.32 according to the time stamp. So maybe I am not alone and you're all here after all.

Caffein and ADD (throw in food coloring) are quite the conversation. The prescriptions (Ritalin) given for ADD are stimulants and work in reverse on ADD kids.

I knew about the food colour, but that idea re caffeine is new to me. I was totally puzzled when D#2 reacted so differently to sedatives and stimulants. There was not so much known about ADD then.

Hello to everyone here at SA3! I have had another few days without computer. With luck, I will have a little time to post in the next few days, though it looks like too many commitments have been made. I hope everyone is well and the appropriate teams have won and those of you in Oz will be ready to face the new week! Have a wonderful day, afternoon, evening, night - whichever is appropriate!

PHEW! I'm back. The power has been off for hours. That's the reason I haven't been here. And you thought I had a life!

What I meant to say about caffien is that my nephew said since it is a stimulant and any stimulant will work to calm those with ADD, it can improve attention span and behavior.

Well, time is all confused, the site being off time by 2 hours and my computer being off time by an hour for a week here. My computer is now under the impression that we did change to Standard time this weekend, but our gov has moved that a week till next weekend.

Huumm, wonder if Gath's hosting company for the site is in the northern hemisphere? Would that explaine the change the wrong way on the time stamp? and give the 2 hour difference?? Just a thought,

.

Gail, sorry to hear the power was out at your location. Had you not paid your bill?

Seriously, the wind took out the power? Glad to have you back online with us, but honestly, i had not missed you yet, been sleep here you see. Maybe i should go back to sleep, it is early or earlier depending on which clock I view.

Oh, my, the time! MizT. my computer says 9:07 am EDST now. I don't know how it knew not to change. Perhaps it communicates with Washington on its own. It sounds like Gath fell forward rather than back. That's OK. Everybody falls on their face at some point, even though the bum is much better suited for it.

It is clear and sunny now, but feels a little chilly. The Weather Channel promised 70's and sunshine, and I'm holding them to it.

Looks as though he moved the clock back instead of forwards. Boy will he get a shock if he did the same to the clocks in his home and he is two hours late for work later.!!

So Dino's computer sprang forward as it should have and Gath ran the site clock back? Oz is going into spring (forward), not fall (back) like us next week.

So now we are 13 hours behind you, should be 12, and after we change, we'll be back to 14 hours behind like normal. I know you are supposed to learn something new every day, but this is a bit much for an old woman. I think I'll wait for something easier to learn comes along later.

One more thing about this clock business. We change on Saturday night so we'll be late for church Sunday morning. Y'all don't change until Sunday night so you'll be late for work Monday morning? You may be going "hehehe" about that, but it just makes things seem that much more upside-down.

I will not mention the time again (for a long time).

Yes, Ian. We were chatting about ADD so an ad appeared. Last week we got one for back pain. I suppose there will be one for a clock soon.
