Morning all, it is hot today, I have just spent half an hour standing out in the paddock whilst the vet has did unmentionalble things to one of my old ladies. Seems she may be on the way out. Decision time tomorrow.

Whoops, forgot to change my avatar.

Anyway, here's what's been happening here. BIL broad-sided a guy who ran a red light. Car totaled, he's ok, bruised and mad. Made dinner for FIL (chicken caccitore) and went to my sister's for the day.

Lynda, I'll trade places with you. Our high today was at midnight (32 F, 0 C). We had wind gusts up to 60 mph. Overnight it's supposed to get down to 4 F (-16 C) with a windchill factor of -15 F (-26).

Lynda, whatever the decision, I hope she does not suffer overlong.
Your time with this grand 'old lady' has been valuable. You deserve a medal for the work you do.
Cyber hugs from me for tomorrow.

Thanks Gail, we won't let her suffer, she is quite comfortable we have given her pain relief. We get results tomorrow but it looks like stomach cancer. She seems to just want to go to sleep. If it comes to it we won't let her be cut up for dog meat, she will be buried properly. The other one will be very lonely until we can get her a companion. It will be a long night.

Lynda, fully understand your feelings at the moment. One daughter has 7 horses, one is about 30 years old and another recently had an eye removed because of cancer. Not quite the same but decisions had to be made.
It definitely the same as loosing a memger of your family.

Suzy, June thank you. This one is over 30. It won't be the first time but that doesn't make it easier.

Orianne, . If you want to chat here, it doesn't work like a normal chat room. Make your post, and when it comes up, refresh. Wait a moment and refresh again to see if anyone answers. Stella was trying to chat with you at 2:23. You just didn't refresh.

Suzy, nice picture of your girls on the baseball page! Another coincidence here - I just watched "A League of their Own" and was wondering why they could have a womwn's baseball league back in the 40's and not today. I preferred baseball over softball when I was a kid, but girls weren't allowed to play. In all the years my boys played little league baseball, there were only 3 - 4 girls that played, and they were not encouraged. You would think in this day and age, there would be a girls baseball league. Congrats to your daughters, Suzy. It must have been a thrill for them to meet a legend. BTW, the US baseball Hall of Fame in Copperstown, is not that far from me, although I've never been there.

Suzy, Half term lasts for a week. we have a three term system here. Starts September to xmas with half term in Oct. Two weeks off at Xmas. January to Easter half term Feb and two weeks at Easter Then Easter to July (usually third week) with half term beginning the last bank holiday in May. Then summer holidays are 6 weeks.
It has been rumoured they want to try a four term year but nothing has come of it. Fee paying schools get longer holidays.

It has been such a lovely weekend that we have been out and about and also tidying the garden up after 'winter' though the forecast says it is going to get colder later this week. You never know we may get some snow yet.

Hello Brenda! We are having some frigid weather at the moment, -4*F with the windchill! It has been very windy since yesterday afternoon. I hope your grandniece's birthday started her off on the right foot for the "terrible two's"! I hope she had a very Happy Birthday!

The tree is finally down and all of the Christmas stuff is in boxes! YEAH!! The boxes are not in the attic yet, but they are in the garage. The attic is over the garage and it was so windy yesterday, that hubby did not want to pull the vehicles out of the garage in case a tree fell. But at least they are out of the house!!!

I'm surprised we still have our power with all of this wind. Even though our lines are underground, somehow a transformer or something blows which cuts the power. It's not fun to lose power in the winter. Even the gas heat is started by electricity, so we would have no heat.

Morning Sudokuland! Coffee is on, and smells yummy today. Come on in, grab a cup and sit a spell.

A cold start to the day, at 35F ( 1 C) but headed for mid 60's ( 17C) sunny, a little breeze, very low humidity and bluest of blue skies. Should be able to get out on my porch and clean up some flower pots today, getting ready for some planing before too long.

I must check to see if the daffodills are up yet, I have not taken a look, but they do come early. On a south facing hill, so they do not get the north winds so much and sun all day.

This is a little prayer that I recieved and thought would be nice to post.

Saint Theresa' s Prayer

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

Hello all. I haven't had much time on the computer lately. Even though we have 3 computers and 1 laptop here, only mine is connected to the internet. Hubby has been monopolizing it lately. He's looking for a newer work truck. Most of them seem to be in the north eastern states. A long way to go for a truck. There is one on Vancouver Island that might work for him. A lot closer. He might go take a look at it this week. Hopefully he will find one soon.

Thank you Stella. It was a wonderful experience for them. Those shirts they are wearing were signed! d1 was one of the '3-4 girls' when she started playing in CA. You're right about them not being encouraged. We suggested to her more than once that softball would mean more girls to play with, but she wasn't interested.

Brenda - the 'half term' weeks are interesting. If I added it all up correctly, you might have an extra week of holiday compared to NSW... 2x2 week breaks, 3x1 week breaks and 1x6 weeks (13 weeks), compared to 3x2 weeks and 1x6 weeks (12 weeks), though we get a couple of days off at easter too and other public holidays. I've probably messed up the calcs! Too early in the morning...
