Greetings and Salutations, Friends!

Hello, Suzanne, Heidi, Victoria, CynB, vdV, Gail, Suzy, Vivacious Viv, Brenda, Broni, Theresa, Tami the Troublemaker, and Rolanda!

Suzanne, I hope you aren't finding any delayed bruises, scratches, or pains!

Thanks again, Steve, for the travelogue! I was also wondering how you fit in a conference, so thanks for explaining that it preceded the "fun" part of the trip. It certainly seems to have been priced well!

CynB, I'm glad everything seems to be working out for Col and the roof repair. Hopefully, he'll be able to get caught up and back on schedule soon!

Suzy, so sorry the time moved achingly slowly as you waited to hear results of your Mum's surgery! Your MUM called to tell you that all went well? She must have had anesthesia, so she must have recovered quickly from that! I'm hoping everything has gone well and there is little or no pain! I hope you are able to get rid of that cold quickly! I hope Ebob is not swayed by the "friend" who seems to want to rule her life! It seems Ebob has some definite goals in mind!

Rolanda, it sounds as if Robert was recognized for his achievements! Congratulations to him (and his parents) from the Sudoku aunts & uncle!

Ooh, Brenda! Hubby bought you a tanzanite stone! At least one D and I both really like tanzanite. We've been told it is nearly completely mined, so prices will be going up.

Tami, baseball starts for your boys in February? I know the major leagues start now, but this seems early for kids in school!

In case anyone doesn't have the time to follow the link to information about tanzanites, here is a bit to consider:

"A person who acquires one of these exclusive gems is someone who wishes to set himself apart from the hoi polloi. A person who wears it exudes confidence and individuality. The almost magical colour of a perfectly cut tanzanite is one that not only suits confident young women; it is also excellently suited to underlining the individuality of the more mature woman."

Tanzanite sounds perfectly suited for us Sudokuaholics!

Julie, Dylan is playing little league and practice has just started. The season starts March. They played a practice game against another team. Mitchell did not want to play this season but tonight said he misses it. He will be ok. He might be working in the concession stand during the games.

Sorry I missed you, Broni and Tami! Broni, I hope you sleep better tonight. Falling asleep while driving is scary and dangerous! I did it once - the gravel on the shoulder of the opposite side of the road hitting up under the car woke me. Luckily it was early morning. I saw one car going the opposite direction in my rear view mirror. Luckily that driver was able to avoid me. Do be careful!

Wow, Tami, little league there really starts early! Of course, with no snow on the ground, they can see where the bases are! Good luck to the little leaguer and to the future concessionaire!

Good Night, Everyone! I hope you can sleep through the night, all those fighting insomnia!

I have read through page 108, to far in the past to do a lot of commenting.

CONGRATS to #1 son Robert, the newest Uni graduate!

vdV, thanks for sharing your Vietnam itinerary, really enjoyed reading what you saw and did.

SUZY, hope you heard from your Mom and that all is well. Your brother ignored you? Gee, brothers can be a pain (smile) Shhh, do not say out loud, but today hand seems to be a bit better. Gee, took a week to recover from that shot??

Heidi, I do worry about you driving when energy impaired. That is a long trip to get meds. My doc is trying me on a new pain med, one with a side effect of weight loss, that would be a bonus. Hope this is successful!

I had a lovely walk today, was in town on errands, sun was shining, it was comparatively warm, so i went to the park and walked along the river. Water was rushing with some noise around rocks and obstacles, what a nice sound. it was a lovely break from my errands.

OK, time for bed, I will try to catch up tomorrow. Hugs to all.

Morning, just barely. I had been sleeping until a really noisy pickup truck woke me up. So thought I'd pop in and say hi and catch up on some reading.

Hi everyone!
Interesting talk about gems - I actually have a piece of jewellery with tanzanite in it. I bought it for myself, just because I liked it - the only time I've ever done that! Problem is I'm not sure which bits are which - it has 4 bright, light blue stones and 4 much smaller mauve stones, then tiny diamond chips around it. I've never bought jewellery before, but this was SO pretty I thought to hell with it! The other stone is topaz, I think that's the bright blue stone... it's lovely! :)

I went to a jewellery auction last week - my sister and I go whenever there's one locally, nothing better than getting a bargain in jewellery. I bought a gold Claddagh ring with an heart shaped emerald in it, a silver dragonfly pendant with gold eyes and a garnet (my January gemstone) body, and a silver bracelet with multi-coloured gemstones - used my birthday money for these. Hehehe! Why not!

Evening all!
Finally got the kids off the computer...

Judy, if you are on fb Rolanda has a short video of the presentation posted. It's amazing - they even have a huge screen up!

Theresa, did you tell the pickup truck off? I do, even though I know they can't hear me!

Cyn, I miss LA jewelery thingy down town. Great prices! Especially compared to Oz. Oh, and my friend's jewelery catalogue - sterling silver bracelets for $8!!!!

MizT, not saying what good news that is about your you know what out loud! Yep. Brothers can be a pain.

Julie, that trip across the road sounds scary! Hubby did a couple of those on his way to school - I am so glad he is done!!!

Tami, the senior season starts soon - we're trying to decide whether or not to pay $112 + 10% GST + $3 per letter to get Ebob a jacket with her name on it...

When I spoke to my mum tonight she sounded great. She was sitting in a chair to eat her dinner, though she can't walk yet. Tomorrow she gets to have a shower and is looking forward to it. That means walking...

Judy, I love the idea of buying yourself jewelery just because you liked it! I remember buying myself a gold bracelet a couple of years after I started work. It felt VERY extravagant. The clasp is now unreliable so I can't wear it anymore.

Suzy - glad to hear your Mum is doing well. A positive attitude is half the battle, I'm sure.
About the gold bracelet, would it worth getting the clasp fixed or replaced?
I have some nice jewellery that my ex-husband gave me but I don't want to wear it and Karin doesn't want it. I suppose I really should sell it. I might ask the auctioneer from the other night, he's in the same business network as Col. Might as well make some money out of it!

Ah...... I was going to say something about everyone misspelling "jewelry", but decided to look it up first. I nearly embarrassed myself. The correct British spelling IS "jewellery"! My spell-check is on the American spelling.

everybody. I am now at the point where I want to sleep 'round the clock. I need to go outside again and do a cow check. After that 5 calf rush, we've had a slow-down. And the temps are warmer now, too. Ah, well. Nobody has ever called cows brilliant.

I've had a busy day so far. Besides tagging the new calf, I fed hay to the cows, replacement heifers, yearling calves and horses, as well as feeding grain to the yearlings and two 200# protein tubs to the cows. And moved another hay ring in with the cows. I'm ready for a break. NOW.

Morning all!
Heidi, my weird spelling must therefore be a product of having lived in both places and mixing the 2 spellings together!

Cyn, I have a small ring from an ex-boyfriend that I don't wear either. I have thoughts of one day removing the stones, combining them with other stones I have, and having rings made for the girls.

Broni, you would have been tired enough to sleep through a cyclone after yesterday! I slept well too - too well in fact as I've woken with a sore neck from not moving enough...

Heidi, your DVD must be finished by now so you must be off either feeding animals or sleeping. I think it's too early for you to be sleeping though - unless it's a nana nap.

Good afternoon, almost evening.
Suzy, I did say a few choice words to the truck that woke me up last night. Of course he didn't hear me. I also phoned the police because I had my suspicions that he might have been drinking.
Hope you enjoyed the movie, Heidi. Now you've got me thinking about popcorn.
Oh well, better get supper on the go. Is popcorn a supper food?

And what a lovely morning it is. It's going to be a hottish day, hotter than we have had for a while, and the fire danger index is set to 'very high' which, believe it or not, is not too bad! I had a bit of a sleep-in after hubby left early this morning, so that was nice. The house is quiet so even the mice (kids) aren't awake. I have checked out all my puter friends, so, life is good. It is taking some getting used to again, this having the house almost to myself thingy, but I think I like it...

The movie is a longish one.... 132 minutes. But great! ( Jose Ferrer, Merle Oberon, Walter Pigeon, Paul Henried, Rosemary Clooney, Gene & Fred Kelly, Jane Powell, Vic Damone, Ann Miller, Cyd Charisse, Howard Keel, Tony Martin and many more.) Then I tried to take a short nap. After the 4th phone call in 10 minutes, I quit. So I'm heading out to do another cow check.

Suzy, so pleased your Mum is sounding bright, it takes a lot of the worry out of it, doesn't it?

Heidi, I have never heard of Fred Kelly...better go google that one!

Theresa, our main problem with being woken up early around here is DOGS! We don't have any but we are surrounded by people who do, and they don't shut up. Yesterday hubby and I went to sit out the front, but the neighbour's dog across the road yapped incessantly all morning. Sometimes I feel like recording it and playing it back over a loud speaker in the middle of the night, just so the owners know what it is like. Because of where we live, on the side of a hill above a 'bowl' it is like every dog is right next to us. One dog barks at it's shadow, even in the dark. Personally I can't understand how the owners can't hear it when it is loud enough to wake us.

Hi Gail, our problem with noise is that on Thanksgiving weekend last year a pub opened up across the street from us. So every Thurs., Fri. and Sat. it is very noisy. Because they are not allowed to smoke in the bar, they come outside and that's when it's a problem for us. That plus the revving of engines, etc., it gets really noisy. The pub is open until 2:00 AM and that's a really noisy time too. This is with our windows closed, so summer promises to be worse. We have complained to the group that gives out alcohol licenses about a pub in a residential area, but so far there is no help in site. One of our neighbours is so upset he wants to move. What do licensing boards think of by allowing something like this?
