Morning all!
Nola, congratulations! Isn't it a wonderful feeling? You are so far ahead with your course work = that's amazing!
Woo hoo Heidi, a good day! Too many bull calves if I've remembered correctly - don't you prefer heifers? Or doesn't it matter?

Bugger, I can't remember what is on page 111 and there's something weird going on with my connection this morning so I don't want to risk going back to check!
You're awake early again Broni. Especially for a Sunday.

Yeah that is what they call it, I am listening to a live presentation on the internet from America, it is like a conference call with a powerpoint show but you can talk and ask questions live.

I am here Suzy, or should I say in the most fabulous resort beside the Dead Sea. In the morning we will go down and float in the water and smear ourselves with the theroputic mud!
Wagdy tried to phone me earlier to find out where we are but by the time the call went from Egypt to Aus and back to Jordan we could not hear one another.

Jordan is very different to Egypt and we have loved both countries. Petra had a lot of walking but I came out of that better than I expected. You need to be reasonably fit to do all the walking necessary here.
The flight from Cairo was awful. They could not adjust the temperature and it was about 45*c in the plane. My poor sniffles turned into a head cold and I did not feel very well for a couple of days. Medication kept me on the go!
It is after midnight so must to bed if I want to go float on the Dead Sea later. (must go very early before it gets hot). We did see snow on the ground in Jordan a couple of days ago!

Suzy... We WANT bull calves! The more, the merrier. They're worth more per pound when we sell them.
I just got back from delivering a couple of rolls of hay to IH's cousin's place. He and IH were working their goats over there, and I arrived just as IH got his 4WD truck hung up in the mud. I pulled him out after feeding the critters.

Just had a big heifer calf born. That gives us 12 calves all together.
In 2 weeks is the KY Beef Expo. I'll be buying a second bull to breed to the daughters of my present bull, Rede. This will let me keep Rede longer. I learned long ago to only buy bulls out of the show ring. They don't cost much more, but they've been handled and trained from calfhood, and are gentle and easy to work with.

June, 45C??? That would have been incredibly uncomfortable, and even dangerous. Sorry to hear about your cold. The trip sounds absolutely fabulous though!
Heidi, the idea of a gently bull is something new to me...

Suzy... I can walk up to Rede in the pasture and pet him any time. He eats out of my hands.
I have no problem turning my back on him. The biggest danger is having him run me over when I feed him grain. He gets too excited. Several friends around here have nicknamed him "Marshmallow", 'cause he's so laid back. When I bought him at a show, I lead him around the show grounds with a halter and lead, and showed him off to friends.
I have had a few bulls that were NOT show trained, and I've been chased out of pastures, chased up into the trusses of the barn and seriously intimidated. I won't do that again, especially since there's an option.

Hi everyone. Sunday morning, already very hot. Hope you're all well and happy.
Trying to get up to date with the news -
Heidi, hope your calves are all healthy and strong - this sounds like a really exhausting time for you. Sorry about the Great Escape - good luck to the escapees out in the wild.
Suzy, I'm glad your Mum is doing so well. :)
Enjoyed the movie talk - a slow night on telly the other day, and Mrs Miniver was on. I thought I'd seen it before, but soon realised that I'd only seen bits of it: we both enjoyed it, despite the obvious propaganda, but I REALLY wanted to see that little boy get a short-back-and-sides haircut!
Also enjoying the travel talk - I'd definitely join the queue to see Petra. I remember reading about it when I was young and thinking how wonderful to see the Rose Red City.

My husband had the opportunity to visit Petra. He was on a two week business trip to Jordan and his hosts made sure to show him and his coworkers a good time and as much of their country as they could. The pictures are amazing. This was before we had kids. Actually while he was away I decided not to go to the drugstore to refill the prescription for my pills. I figured he was thousands of miles away and couldn't argue with me.

Greetings sudokuland! Bed time here again, where does the day go? sure not getting a lot of ffuts done to be taking up all my time!!
Lovely day today, temps up to 63, and I opened the doors for some fresh air for a couple hours. Nice day with lots of sunshine.
Just finished my bedtime meds and snack so wishing all a good night. I did read, but forgot what was said, guess the meds must have kicked in fast tonight hehehe.
My daughter in California is not well, so if any of you have a chance for a small prayer for Tanya, would be appreciated.
Hugs to all and good night.

I'm getting here late tonight - after 11 PM. Hello, everybody!
Hi, MizTricia, Heidi, Suzy, Broni, Brenda, Nola, June, Gail, Suzanne, Judy, and Tami the Troublemaker!
MizT, I hope there is continued improvement in the area that needs it!
Heidi, I hope all went well with the yearlings and today's cow checks!
Suzy, your hubby should be pleased that you have reasonable tastes for your anniversaries! Are the family colds all better? I hope you are enjoying your reading!
Nola, you are amazing with your coursework! Your organization is a good example for me. (I MUST get to work on our tax preparation.)
June, your trip sounds wonderful! I wonder if we will ever get that far from home. I can't imagine being cooped up in an airplane with 45*C temperatures. I hope the flight attendants kept busy providing fluids - for everyone, not just the elderly (thinking of Nola, there).
Heidi, so glad to hear of all the healthy calf births! I like your thinking about buying trained bulls who are used to people and the show ring! It certainly makes for a calmer time when you need to work with them!
My brain is not working well tonight. I couldn't get it around the "webinar" Broni got up early for. I think I finally figured it out - a seminar on the web. Interesting concept!
MizT, sending positive thoughts and prayers to your daughter Tanya in California!

(If there are new calves, I'll have to get back on the computer. I've computerized my cattle records.)

SA vibes going out to Tanya, I hope she is better soon...
Heidi, I probably would have freaked if you'd walked up to me with a bull on a lead! I'm guessing there are no more cows Heidi, hope you are sleeping well.
Suzanne, I like the way Keith put it on that other page - his post went out to another dimension where they are now very confused...
It has been in the mid 30's here today so very warm and muggy. I haven't minded too much because I got caught up on a lot of yrdnaul. It dried very quickly! Off to nag the kiddos and then to have a cooling shower...

Thinking oof your daughter MizT. Hope she gets better soon.
Floating on the Dead Sea was amazing. Once you got your legs up it was very hard to get them down again. I made the mistake of putting my head back and getting my hair wet. When I finally got my head upright the water ran down my face into my eyes. The water stings and I coukld not see I had to get myself out and under the shower (nearby). I will probably go down again later today and also rub on some mud! That will be quite a sight.
We have also been to Bethany today. Where Jesus was baptised. A very emotional visit.

My Dad always bought quiet bulls. The last one we had liked having his head scratched.
I have not really had time to catch up with all the news so thanks Julie for your latest update.
Suzy, hope your Mum is OK. I sort of read she had to have an Op. Congrats to Nola for whaterver you achieved. Hope your sister is going OK.
