We leave the hotel in 4 hours and fly at about 4 hours after that.It will then be about another 13 hours before we get to Sydney and another hour os so before we actually get home. We should be home well before this time tomorrow!
Sleep tight Tami.

I slept through the afternoon.
I need to go out and check the cows soon. At least the ground is solidifying. It never got above freezing today. The snow flurries never accumulated though. Just too light.

Broni, thanks for the birthday wishes for my brother. I will speak to him later today. At least I managed to send a birthday card on time this year. I think I sent his Christmas card on Christmas eve.

Hello everyone. I seem to be getting busier as the month draws to a close. I'm finding plenty of things to do here at work.
It was really strange at home last night. Shaun has started uni again and his Wednesday timetable has him at a lecture from 8-10pm. As a result he stays overnight at his girlfriends house. It seemed so quiet without him last night!
James went to the gym, so it was just Kevin and I at dinner. He went to bed early as he gets up at 4am to go to work so I went downstairs to join the dog and we watched tv together. Actually he sat across my lap as I watched tv - he weighs 24 kilos. My baby!

He's a Harrier. We thought we were buying a beagle but he just grew and grew. Reggie is a beautiful, sooky boy who just loves to play and go for walks. He loves everyone. He sleeps indoors at night (actually I think he is scared of the dark as he won't go out of the garage at night even if the door is open). He's ok to go out in the back yard at night though. Funny Dog!
You are right, though, as our neighbours have a collie and they weigh similar amounts even though Jack the collie looks much bigger with all that coat.

Just popping in - earlier than last night, but later than I should be. Hello, Everybody! February is slipping away from us!
Hello to Suzy, Heidi, CynB, Victoria, Theresa, Gail, Vivacious Viv, Brenda, Judy, June, Suzanne, MizTricia, Rolanda, Tami the Troublemaker, and Broni! I apologize if I missed anyone!
Seems like water beds were pretty popular among this group at one time. We never had one. Our first mattress was a very normal & cheap mattress. When we replaced it a few years ago, we opted for a Tempur-Pedi foam mattress. It seems a bit better for my back.
Theresa, I remember that we had a magic word with our D's. We must have read the same magazine. I recall deciding that it would probably be good to change it occasionally. I think we used the name of a song they were learning to play, which would have been hard for someone to guess unless they knew our family REALLY well.
Suzy, please do me a favor. Please wish Ebob a very Happy Birthday!
I hope she has a wonderful straight-hair day
with a yummy cake
and maybe even some flowers!
I understand the straightening of hair! I tried desperately to get my hair straighter from high school through about age 35 or 40. Then, I decided to give up and let my hair do whatever it darn well pleased. Now, I'm back to trying to straighten it.
Brenda, it sounds like you had a great day!
June, I hope you will be home soon and I hope you have a REALLY wonderful refreshing sleep when you get home! Don't start unpacking, or you won't stop until you're done. I hope the flights home were uneventful!
MizT, I hope all of your groceries are put away by now! It's nice to get a lot of shopping done in one trip, but NOT so nice having to get everything put away!
Heidi, I don't envy your late-night walks through the calving pasture. I had also not hear of all black skunks. YUCK! Now, I've heard people talk about the prank of cow-tipping. Hopefully it isn't as bad as when your cow was cast. I really never understood what was so exciting about doing something harmful and considering it to be a prank.
Rolanda, thanks for the car update. It sounds as if your son knows how to drive a bargain. I hope the car checks out!
Happy Birthday
to your brother, Victoria/Vicky! I hope he has a great day - and cake!

I just found this in Wikipedia, as we all know NOT the definitive answer on all things, though!
"Although the most common fur color is black and white, some skunks are brown or gray, and a few are cream-colored. All skunks are striped, even from birth. They may have a single thick stripe across back and tail, two thinner stripes, or a series of white spots and broken stripes (in the case of the spotted skunk). Some also have stripes on their legs."
I found this at another site:
"It has a beautiful jet-black fur, varied with a larger or smaller amount of white forming a stripe on each side of its body and head, and more or less of its tail. In some cases the white is reduced to a small "star" at the top of the head, and without doubt some specimens are entirely black, while occasionally a white specimen may be seen.
The fur of the Black Skunk is considered the best, and brings the highest price which decreases as the amount of white increases, the white ones being almost valueless."

Rolanda, you poor thing. It's quite overcast here and only 24C. We've had a little drizzle as well.
I want straight hair too! I have a wave in my hair at the back and only enough in the front to not make it sit well. When it gets longer it just gets bushier.
Congrats to Steven on his new car. I did look to buy a Mazda2 but the deals on Corollas at the time won out. When I decide to get rid of it I'm thinking of replacing it with a Mazda3.

I take it that you've become nocturnal like I have, Theresa.
Since it's after 3 am, I'm gonna try to go to bed. I just came back in after doing a thorough cow check.... 22℉ / - 5.5℃ with high wind and snow. That's after returning from my run to pick up the quail, then feeding the cats (I found one of my black cats dead... either Tina or India - couldn't tell in the dark).

Heidi, hope you are managing to get some sleep. Sorry about the kitty ... any idea what happened? I know at the rescue there are a lot of black cats and we sometimes have trouble telling one from the other, even when it's not dark. Sometimes if one of them has a vet appointment the director will put a collar on them ahead of time so she knows she is getting the right one.

good morning sudokuland. I cannot decide if it is to early to get up or not, so a fast read of the =board while I think about it. No coffee yet, so I hope I remember.
NO, I did not get all the groceries put up! I am doing a rotation of groceries and cleaning of pantry, so it is time consuming. the hand complains and I rest, resting is reading and I occasionally read to long (smile) and then go put away again. Not much left, it will finish today. I do have a good escuse, Hubby did not being in the huge tug=bs of canned goods and flats of bottled water and flavored water till 2 pm, when he came in from the shop to eat. He just does not get in any hurry these days. I had brought in bags of lighter things already and started the cleaning of pantry so morning was not totally wasted waiting on him.
Heidi, what post office is open at midnight? Were your birds in good condition and now setteled in nicely? did they go in the pen where the others escaped?
Vicki, hopoe you enjoyed date night, that is a fun thing to do.
Julie, I am sure your snow would melt fore getting to Rolanda, but the cool it might bring would be good. I cannot imagine 107! Well, I can, once visited Texas when it was 105 - 107, you had to take a wet towel with you to the auto, to open the door, cool the steering wheel and the seat belt. towle dried quickly without souring enen if you just tossed it on the floor, it was so dry and so hot. NOT a fun trip! We stayed inside with AC.
Happy Birthday to Ebob!
Hope the car is home for Stephen, sounds like a good deal.
OK, I have decided, back to bed, catch you later, hugs,

MizTricia.... Who said anything about the Post Office being open at midnight? (2 am, actually) They weren't open. There were some employees working in the back sorting the semi of mail that had just arrived.... with the birds. I talked to them on the phone at 1 am, and again at 1:30, and they let me in the employees entrance to get my birds. There are sensible people there who understand how important it is to reduce shipping time for birds.

Theresa. I have no idea what happened to the cat. None of them have shown any sign of illness. Whoever it was was in good flesh, so it was sudden. She was in the feed room so no wild critter could have gotten her. (The door is shut and there's a cat flap in the wall so cats can stay comfy inside.)

It is nice there are still some sensible people in the world Heidi, and especially working at the post office. Glad they arrived safely.
I have the hardest time spelling especially, get so far away that spell check is NO help hehehe. I have to go back, spell special and add the suffix and prefix, whew, all done!! Anyone have a word they just cannot spell without really trying??
I had zucchini muffins this morning, ones that fit my food plan and they were yummy!! Zucchini is another word I have trouble with, but spell check catches this one thankfully. I am back loosing again, have lost the weight gained after this last cortisone injection. Boy if I could stay away from cortisone I would have lost another 15 pounds already!!!!! At least I am not gaining, only a temp 3 or 4 pound gain from injections, but it is like I lost a month every time I have to get another injection. Oh well, at least my winter clothes fit throughout the winter, and I did not need to buy smaller ones, just took up the ones I had twice hehehe. Now hopefully I will be the correct size for the spring clothes I have bought! Spring is much later this year, hope it arrives soon. not very spring like this morning, it was 23 degrees, cold for a morning temp this near March in Alabama.
I did a fast check of history of this date. A year ago, low was 47, 3 years ago it was 43. I only HOPE it gets that warm for today. might warm up by the weekend. Rolanda, would gladly exchange some cold for some hot, mix your 107 and my 23, we would get a comfy temp in the mid 60's. Well, we can dream, right??? Sorry I missed your invite for MSN, I hit send and went right to bed earlier. Enjoyed that extra hour and half of sleep.
Would have slept longer, but Scooter cat (she is the one who never meows or asks for anything unless it is am emergency)came asking for something. I followed her to K, there was food in bowls, so I opened door to let her out. Nose out, cold wind and she tried to turn back in, nope, not a choice. You wake mommy from a sound sleep, up on her bedside table, paw on the bed, meowing, you are going OUT. Found out her water bowl was empty, she was likely thirsty. Hubby gave them food last night, I heard him and did not check. He forgot to fill water bowl. silly hubby!!
Heidi, sorry about the cat, she must have got poison somehow, to die that quickly and in that good a condition. To cold for snake bite, snakes are still sleeping.

I don't keep poison where animals can get it, MizT. I suspect something like a heart attack. I'm now thinking it is Tina. She was a super friendly lovebug. Usually she greets me when I go outside, and occasionally ventures into the yard and stares at me thru' the picture window until I come out to play with her. I haven't seen her this morning. The other black female, India, is shy, so I rarely see her up close.

Brenda's tanzanite inspired me. I just bought a pendant with a small, lighter colored tanzanite stone (the lighter the color, the cheaper, I've found) on top, and a Druzy Agate piece below. Druzy Agate is from the inside of a geode, and is covered with a fine layer of crystals. I'll post a picture of it on my page.

Thanks Heidi, I think so too. Just have to wait for the chain I want to arrive at the jewellers so I can wear it properly. The pic of me wearing it was a bit of a cheat as it was pinned to the back of my jumper as the chain was too short.

My youngest daughter has just suprised me by coming home from Uni for a long weekend. She had had it planned and tickets bought long before we decided to go and visit her on Sunday. Morning all!
Brenda, the setting is incredible. The only problem I see is how expensive the night out is going to be when you go somewhere worthy of it! Beautiful.
Heidi, so sorry about your kitty.
MizT, I used to be a good speller and find spelling easy. Then I moved to the US for 10 years and had to relearn how to spell (American spelling is more logical by the way). Now if a word has double letters in it I have no clue how to spell it. And I don't have spell check in here! I hope your weather warms up soon!!!!!

Ebob anecdote: she was in the school canteen area with 6 friends yesterday when they started to sing happy birthday to her. The hundred or so kids also in there joined in! There was of course only 6 people singing her name, but most of the other kids sang the rest of it!!!!

Brenda, glad you had a great birthday.
Julie, I gave up a long time ago trying to straighten my hair. It is naturally curly and very thick and stays that way. It takes a very special occasion for me to spend the hour or two it takes to straighten it.

Funny # 2.
This is an actual conversation that took place in my 7th grade math class. Remember all my students are 12 or 13 in age, the same as son #1.
My students had asked my age a while back and told them that I was 29 (I am really 45). The other day one of the students asked me if I was really 29. I said yes. I was then asked if I really had a 13 year old son. Again I answered yes. The students, being so brilliant at math, figured out that I had my son when I was 16. I said yes. This was a little difficult for them as they seem to think their teacher is perfect. One of them asked what my mom said and I told them that she wasn't happy. Someone else asked what my dad said and I told them that I couldn't repeat it. They were also trying to guess "when" it happened and they all assumed either prom or homecoming. I wonder what their parents will think when the students tell them. I wonder how many will remember this conversation in October when I will turn 29, again!
