Evening all!
Just finished another hubby-made nummy dinner. The girls keep telling us that all of their friends who have had dinner at our place tell them what a good cook he is and they wished their mothers cooked as well. Note the gender bias in that sentence? I guess I'm used to it because it doesn't seem anything out of the ordinary to me.

Broni, so one good thing came out of your lack of internet. It was a high cost though!

Heidi, good news that the heifer might make it. Sending out SA vibes for her.

Now the page has turned and I forget what I was going to say!

I agree about hubby made. Tonight we are having pseudo-Saturday night (date night) because we had no power last night so we took the kids out for dinner. Hubby is cooking his famous Pepper Steak tonight, nummy, can't wait!

Gail, sorry about the hail damage. I have been in hail like that. It chopped off three of our chiiks heads. Broke someones wrist when they went to shut a window and our poor cows just bellowed. That would be nearly 50 years ago but I still remeber the noise.
Hope the heifer will be OK but I guess you will not be able to breed from her again.Broni and Suzy, my computer is a co-share (or something like that) of Ken's computer. I can still use mine if Ken's is turned off though, and we can both use them at the same time. When dino was here we just added another extension line for her to use so we had three computers going at once. Sharon set it all up for us.

June... the amazing thing is that the Vet said if she makes it, she CAN be used for breeding!!! He said that this was an unique case, and not a conventional prolapse. He believes in her case, it won't happen again.
What you need is a router in the house so you and Ken can use your 'pooters at the same time.

Now... time to get dressed and check on 34A.

I just introduced the 2 bulls to each other. They get along fine. This is why I bought a youngster (11 months old) to put in with a 5 year old bull. Rede considers Yahtzee to be a calf, and non-threatening. If I tried to introduce 2 mature bulls, they'd fight. As it is, their pecking order is established already, and they'll always get along.

If anybody wants to see Yahtzee, go to this link: http://kybeefexpo.com/catalogs.htm and click on Red Angus. Yahtzee is on the cover (bottom picture) and he's #30 in the catalog. The heifer I bought is #3, but there's no picture of her.

I am here Heidi. My pooter is acting up so I have been using Mitchell's. I am on mine now. Hubby's friend is going to come over later and try to see what it going on. He is a complete computer geek. Nice to have one "in the family" all it will cost me is dinner, which he would have been invited to anyways. Have to print something. Got a call about tutoring a kid. Big test starts Tuesday and mom calls me yesterday about extra help. Nice to get help three days before. Should have been called at least a month or two ago. Not sure how much I can help her in a few hours.

Heidi, sorry to hear about the calf but glad you got the bull you wanted. I understand what you mean about raising animals but it is still not easy to deal with. I will try to come back later.

Sorry about the heifer, Heidi. When you lose an animal like that are you able to butcher it for your dogs.
Yahtzee looks like a good strong animal. In the photo he looks very heavy in the back legs.
Hope you get your computer fixed Tami.
Thanks Heidi, could not remeber 'router' last night. That is what we do have.
my family in Melbourne missed the hail storm.

Morning all!
Heidi, so sorry about 34A. The shock was too much I guess.

Tami, that mum is desperate. Pretty much the only thing I can imagine you helping with is exam technique. The kid has probably broken down in tears or something. Poor kid, poor mum, poor you!

I slept for most of yesterday. Was cranky as last night, I think 'my male nurses' are ready to quit !!
Good thing they are at work/uni today, leaving me to wallow on my own for part of the day.

We sold our Caravan yesterday, first time advertised in Saturday's ( and Sunday's ) papers, The first person to ring up on Saturday bought the Van, yesterday morning.
We are upgrading to a Van with a Toilet/Shower. It will take some months before it is built and ready for us to take possession of it.

Rolanda, sorry to hear you are feeling grumpy. Some time alone sounds like a good start to the cure!

Wow to sell your caravan so fast is amazing! Either you had it priced perfectly or people are very interested in caravanning these days. Or maybe both!

Tami, it is too late to panic only a few days before the exams. I wish my girls had a bit more enthusiasm for doing well in tests!

Tami, how is your cold?

Heidi, I did my fair share of last minute cramming at Uni, and remembered the stuff for exactly as long as it took to do the exam and not a day more! Which kind of defeats the purpose of learning it in the first place...

Suzy, cold is feeling a little better. I remember several times pulling an all-nighter to get ready for a test. I would pass and then forget everything. I never did figure out why I would need biology anyways.
I would also make a "cheat sheet" and put it in my back pocket. I never had to take it out, I could close my eyes and remember what I wrote on the page. Either that or I have eyes on my backside.

Hello all!
I'm back from my 3 day weekend. The doctor didn't want to take blood until August when I visit my liver specialist. She is happy with me. Yay!
I've visited my mother and my mother-in-law this weekend. Next weekend I'm free! That probably sounds terrible but I'm expected to visit my mother at least fortnightly to take her grocery shopping. It's at least an hours drive each way and she can go shopping with her neighbour every Monday (and sometimes she does). I don't object to visiting - just grocery shopping - as we could do something nice otherwise e.g. drives in the country, visiting someone etc. I've suggested she buy her groceries but every time it's just the same old thing. We do go out for lunch though.

Suzy, all the Caravan and Camping Shows are on around the country, here in Perth it is in 2 weeks time. So many people interested.
Our 7 year old Van sold quickly, because it is in excellent condition, presents well, and was well priced.
For weeks there have been hardly any vans up for sale in the papers, this week however, lots of competition, eeekkk, specially in yesterday's paper.
The person who bought it, lives about just under 200 ks south of us, drove up specially to have a view.
He and Peter had been on the phone several times on Sat, we sent pictures of the van via Email to him Sat eve.
He left his place around 6.30 in the morning and was at our place 8.30ish, he said yes I will buy around 10.00amish.

Rolanda, did he hook it up behind his truck and drive it home with him?? Cranky is allowed, and you should remind your male nurses they have been cranky on more than one occasion but mom still gave TLC.

Victoria, take your Mum to buy groceries if that is what she wants instead of a drive in the country. Wish I still had my Mum to take to the grocery.

Tami, yes, writing a ' cheat sheet" would be a good way to help you remember answers, but if it were ever found on your person, how bad would that have been? I was back in nursing school as an adult, and had to drive 45 min each way daily. When there were things I just had to memorize, I made a tape aand played it to myself on the way to and from school, got a lot more studying in that way, really helped and freed up more time to be with family once i was home, also.

Days are getting warmer, was mid 60's today. Forecast 70 tomorrow. No more freezing temps at night. Yep, we might have a spring soon. NO plants in the garden shops yet, soon I hope I am ready to dig in the dirt.

Wednesday is bone doc again, I have a page of questions for him about that surgery. If this hand is not going to get better all by itself, if the surgery is going to have to be done sooner or later, I am going to go with sooner, get it over with and done, but I have a LOT of questions he needs to answer first.

Heidi, I did not know the bulls would get along at all, Hubby and I were talking about that just yesterday. He was saying he hoped you had strong fences to seperate them. I have not ever seen a herd with 2 bulls before, learn something new every day. How will it work when the new young bull is old enough to service the cows you intend him to? Gee awkward sentence, but I am too sleepy to fix it.

Well, just finished my bedtime snack, so guess that means it is bedtime. Have a great day all the Aussies, and a good sleep for all us up this side. Hugs to all.

A fun bull story. I put the 2 bulls in together today, and they're getting along beautifully. This evening, I brought their bucket of feed in the pen with them and poured it into the feeder. My older bull, Rede, wanted me to scratch his back, so I did that while he was munching away. The new bull, Yahtzee, watched and decided he wanted to be loved up, too. So there I was, standing between 2 muscular bulls, rubbing and scratching both of them. Yahtzee likes his forehead to be rubbed most. THIS is why I buy show bulls.

MizT. .... We'll separate the cows when it's time to start breeding. Rede will get the majority of cows, and Yahtzee will get the dozen Rede daughters I've kept. They'll be kept in separate pastures for a month or so, until all the girls are bred, then we'll run them all together. With no girls coming in season, there'll be nothing for bulls to fight about. I've run 2 bulls before. My former neighbor used to run 4 bulls in his cow herd together, with no problems.
