I've got 4 more Lady Gouldian Finch hatchlings!!! That makes 10 babies in the nests so far. There are still 2 nests that haven't hatched yet.

Congratulations Heidi!
I've got both sloshy things going and I'm on my third cup of coffee. I might find the energy to undo some of the effects of tornado-holidays soon...

Good Morning everyone! My visitors are leaving today. It's pouring rain so all the sheets, towels etc will wait for some sunshine - hopefully on the weekend. It's lovely having visitors although the littlest (3 1/2 year old) got really hyped last night and was extremely loud. Fortunately they go to bed early. Then it was just adult time. Lovely! We will miss them but catch up again in August when we go to Canberra.

Good morning all! As Vicki said it's pouring here today - I don't mind rain in summer but when it starts to get cool, it's awful. I, too have sheets and towels waiting to be washed.
Vicki - it's lovely to get visitors but it's lovely when they leave too and you get your house and time to yourself - or that's what I think anyway.
Heidi - I love those little Gouldian finches - I visit them at the local pet shop each time I'm passing. I'd buy some but Jewel the wonder dog would bark at them every time they move - she barks at leaves rustling in the trees, honestly!

Em went back to school today, rather tearfully, she thought it would be good to just spend her days with Nanny and Poppy and give school a miss!
Also, you people who don't like snakes will be worried by this - Monty the snake escaped from her cage overnight - Andrew couldn't find her before he left for work - hopefully she's still in the house!
Posted this on Easy but will repost here. My sister and BIL are on a coach tour of Europe with only 10 people, the others didn't make it there due to the airline disruptions! She said they are getting very personalised attention. Imagine a big coach with only 10 people on it. You'd get to know your fellow travellers much quicker too.

Cyn.... Look in a dark, warm spot. Monty is a tropical snake and likes conditions like in a rain forest.

Hi all. Listening to the airplane stories. I hear them all the time and just ignore them. The weirdest for me was after 9/11 when 2 fighter jets flew overhead and we heard the sonic boom. We didn't know what it was until later when the news reported that they were fighter jets. I have seen the space shuttle takeoff from my house. All I can see is the fiery trail it leaves in the sky.

Cyn, glad Emily is feeling better. If I was her, I wouldn't want to go to school either. I went back to work when my kids were 8 weeks old. My mom was still working with Mitchell so hubby or I, usually me, would take off work. That was before I was a teacher. Mom retired shortly after I had Dylan so she started taking over on sick days. Luckily they don't get sick very often anymore.
Heidi, this visit is soon, hope you get everything done. Can't wait to hear about it.
Victoria, glad the house is back to normal.
Don't remember what else I read. I will try to come back later. If I don't I wish all my friends a wonderful day/night wherever you are.

The tour is part of a county Leadership Program. They get a tour of a variety of successful rural/agricultural businesses. We represent a diversified farm. Others on the tour are friends who have a popular fruit orchard, friends who have an educational Garden Center and friends who have a big name purebred cattle operation. Their Shorthorns win shows all over the country.

Hi everyone, hope you're all happy and well! :)
Not much happening here, just letting you know I'm alive - seem to be over my bad days (hooray!) though I haven't been doing much of anything. Actually got bored with computer (!!) and started reading instead - Weird! I can tell when I'm better because I look around the house and see all the stuff that needs doing - Guess I should head off and do some of it ... have a great day everyone! :)

Good Evening, Everybody! Hope all is well with everyone! I've been missing for a few days - and have a few more days before I can get back and read. I have about 6 or 7 pages to read now. Just wanted to say Hello and let you know I'm thinking of you. Hope to get back more regularly soon! Take care! Be well! Stay healthy!

Busy day here coming to an end. There were male workers inside and outside today, I love seeing a working man hehehe.
My yard is looking so nice. the last bit of lumber from a job 3 months ago was moved today and now the grass can have a chance to grow again. ALL the yard is cut and trimmed. My containers are beside the stairs out front, the bed of blackberries and poison ivy that were growing around and through the benches is gone, cut and raked, flower pots in residence now. My tomato plants are planted, all the mess I made with the 6 packs that plants came in are in the trash, it is looking good.
OH, Sammy even remembered what violets and lemon balm looked like and did not cut those. They have naturalized in several areas around the house.
I did not get as much done inside as I wanted, oh well, one more day, hope I wake energetic and get the rest done. I want to wash cabinet doors, clean our fridge, and dust and vacuum living room. Need to go to wal mart for colas also.
AL needs to buy and install a toilet tomorrow, in the hall bath, the one he uses. I had been telling him that one kept running last few days, tonight, he decided it is not repairable. I voted for a new one a long time ago, that one is very old and does not clean up well.
I read, but do not remember doodle I read, it did not stick tonight. Hopefully I can re read it tomorrow, but don't hold your breath, another busy day. I must stay close to a phone till 2 pm, for the hospital to phone with time I report in Thursday. She did phone today with the other information, which meds to take Thursday am and which to leave off, what to bring and what to leave home ( jewelry, makeup, perfume, lotion).
OH, one thing I don't think I have mentioned. I have rings that I cannot remove, Doc said they have a few tricks they can try to get them off, if not, they will have to be cut off. He did say only had to cut off rings twice, once they have me asleep, they can probably get them off. I hope so, having them repaired could be pricey.

Forgot to mention the worker inside, in the dome, helping AL. They did get that job complete, ready to box and mail. Customer wants it by Friday, it is gonna cost to get it sent second day air, there will be 4 boxes. He could not understand why we did not have this ready on the shelf to ship our on order. Heck, if he was so hurry for it, he should have ordered earlier, right??

We will all be thinking of you on Thursday Tricia. Your yard and all the work done sounds great. How lovely it will be to watch everything blooming while you are waiting for the hand to heal.
If they have to cut the rings off I would have them resized when you have them repaired.

Victoria, when I have visitors I leave the beds made up until a good washing day. It means I have not got a 'L' full, the bedrooms look tidy and when washed and dry I just remake the beds.
Heidi, I love your Liriodendron avatar. Mum had one in her garden, although they do not grow well in our areas.

Ah MizT - I join the chorus - I, too, will be thinking of you on Thursday with every wish that your recovery is smooth.
Is anybody else bored with Facebook - the only game I played and enjoyed - Treasure Madness - is now so slow and boring, I can't get up any enthuasism for it. And the others! I have a pet in the pound, a grossly unattended Zoo, a farm that never got started, a City Life that bored me to tears etc etc etc. Any suggestions?

Cyn, my daughter used to play a lot of those games, but she just got tired of them. Maybe your interest will pick up once your "winter" starts. BTW, what are the average temperatures for your winters?

Hi Theresa - where I live, which is coastal, we never get to freezing - lowest is usually 4-6C overnight, and 13-18C during the day and we complain about how 'freezing' we are. By the same token, we feel the cold becauses our houses are open, airy, with big windows to take in the summer sea breezes. We're not equipped for the cold. When hubby and I bought this house, it had a wood-burner fire and we thought it was an extravagance but we do use it on winter evenings and it does keep the house warm. We do have reverse cycle air-com but have only used it twice in winter when we have forgotten to bring in firewood. Great in summer though.

Thanks for the info, Cyn. That's about the temperatures we're experiencing now, so I guess your winters are like our springs. Have you always lived in that area?

MizT, I will be thinking of you too - I think Thursday evening/Friday here. I hope you have arranged for someone to post that you are okay!!
Judy, glad your bad days are over. I'm having trouble getting motivated fixing the after-holiday disaster here so know how you feel.
Julie, you are always so busy and yet you manage your amazing posts. I bow in reverence!
Cyn, if Em is taking her anger to school she is probably having a tough time there. It was right that she went though, the more she misses the harder school will be for her. I so want to strangle wf.

Heidi, that sounds like an interesting tour. I'm guessing they are teenagers if it's a leadership thing?
Cyn, I don't think I could sleep in the house knowing Monty was on the loose! I hope he finds him tonight... Mahjongg! My connection is a pain at the moment so I'm having trouble doing much at all.
MizT, your garden sounds lovely. A fantastic helper! I remember customers like your hubby's. They order a product with a 6 week lead time and want it in 3 weeks...
Theresa, sorry to hear you are still not sleeping well. I hpe you got a nap to make up for it.
Vicki, I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend after your busy week.

The talk on FB about a smack upside the head ... that's the punishment we used to get from my father when we weren't behaving the way he thought we should. It was usually followed up by a kick to the backside. Nowadays that would be considered abuse, but back then it was normal.

Broni, that means the day goes quickly - even though we miss you! I hope things settle down, but I am happy that things are turning out so well for you.
Theresa, that was always hubby's 'joke punishment'. When he was mucking around with the kids he'd threaten that if they gave him a hard time. When they were seriously in trouble he didn't need to say anything, he has a good mean look.

Hi all.
Nothing much to report here, which is a good thing, I suppose. Hubby and I went out and had brunch this morning, which was very pleasant, then I had to hold the hand of my 22yo daughter while she had a dentist check-up that she had been dreading! They had fairly regular check-ups as kids, but she has let that slide...and now needs many fillings, x-rays, cleaning and removal of wisdom teeth! If that doesn't hurt, the bill will!

Suzy - he still can't find Monty!
Theresa - yes, I have always lived in Queensland mostly in and around Brisbane but spent some time when my kids were very young living in Townsville which is tropical north Queensland - about 2 weeks of mild winter there! I never even saw snow until I was nearly 50 and in Switzerland. As I get older I find it harder to cope with the heat and humidity of summer, but I'm still a summer/beach holiday girl at heart.
Broni - glad the new job and finances are going well - sorry you don't have as much time to spend here with us though!

Yes Theresa - I'd occasionally get a good slap from my mother (Dad never disciplined us at all!) when I deserved it. I never resented it and I don't have psychological scars. I gave my kids the odd clip over the ear if they were naughty - they don't hate me for it.
These days kids know their rights and they have more rights than their parents do!

I can't sleep, Cyn. I've been working instead. I have a case that has to be done for Friday, but it will be done tomorrow instead (early for a change). I have the courier coming at 11:00 AM to pick up the case and then he will be back some time before 3:00 to bring me more work, so I won't have much chance for a nap. I will make it an early night tonight ... very early.
You're right about kids' rights today. In some cases it's good, but there has to be some discipline. Sending a child to their room for a time out doesn't really work if all their toys, TV, computer, etc. are in their rooms. My niece is a teacher and she is not allowed to even touch a child. She says sometimes it breaks her heart because a certain child obviously needs a hug, but that's not allowed.
