Sassy has finally given birth! She had a HUGE bull calf. He's big enough for a 2-3 week old.

I guess I got all the sleep all of you were missing overnight. I did my sleepless night on Saturday night, Sunday night I slept really well and hard and late. Wouls have slept later but Screech kitty lived up to her name and demanded OUT at 8:30. Well, I would not have slept much longer, Chiopractor's office phoned, they had a 9:30 appointment or a 10 am. I took the 10 so I could get a shower and get my errands list together, I had to go to bank, and go to grocery for a couple of items and pick up come buckets and potting soil for those tomatoes.

OH, I did reach the young man who helps with yard work, he will be here tomorrow at 9 am, YEAH! To get the yard picked up of all things that accumulate in a yard over winter, to move those small willow trees that came down, to get grass cut and the weedeating of the jungle out back, and help me get the tomatoes planted will be so great.

I do have pillows hanging out, along with the last of the wash. Next laundry, hubby gets to do, sure.

Read to end of page 174, hope to get back to read the rest later, break time is over. Hugs to all.

Not really, MizT. Having a single calf is easier on her, and since it will get all her milk, it'll grow faster. She was so huge that I thought twins were a high percentage possibility. Plus, she's had twins before.

Oh I forgot who said I was quite a handywoman, but it is easy to take out a screw one handed, it is not easy to put one back with only one thumb functioning. Hubby had to do that for me. The machine did function without it, but the hose was a bit floppy till he came in from shop and replaced the screw.

Of course it had to happen this way, hubby has 2 jobs, one that needs to complete this week, it would be nice if the second one could also. That gives him 2 more days and rest of today, I have told him he is not to be in the shop the rest of the week starting Thursday. IF I could depend on our telephone intercom system, or if our cell phone could get reception here, it would not be a problem. I could just phone him when I needed him. As it is now, the majority of the time intercom system does not work. So I told him, either he stays with me or he hires a baby sitter for me hehehe. I do strange things after anesthesia and when taking pain meds.

Morning all!
Sorry to hear most of you have been sleeping badly. That makes life hard. Hubby is doing a bit of the same. I have slipped into a routine of waking a few times but drifting off to sleep again.

Now I've turned the page and I can't remember who said it. I also know a mother who doesn't want anything to do with her kids, in this case twin daughters who started school this year. They're just too much trouble. She 'promised' that this year she would call them more and come to see them at least 3 times....

MizT, I'm glad you found the reliable helper! That would remove a lot of worry. I too am curious about your reaction to generals and pain killers - sounds interesting!

Way to go Sassy!!

Theresa, glad you finally got some sleep and hope your time outside is lovely!

Heidi, I have in the past gone to sleep for 3 days from taking 1/2 of one tablet of a medication that was prescribed to be taken 3 times a day the first week then two tablets three times a day. I would wake up, sit up and fall off the sofa. Al had to stay home with me.

Another time, after anesthesia, Twilight sleep, I kept going back to sleep for about 3 weeks. The thing with twilite sleep is, you can talk, answer questions, move about, you spear awake, but you will have no memory of what is happening. This went on for 3 weeks, I thought I was going crazy.

I also have what is called paradoxical reactions to medications. Sometimes this is dose related, I can take 1/8 of a normal dose of benadryl and sleep all night, but if I take a normal amount, I will not sleep. Another medication had 4 things it would do, it could cause diareah, make me sleepy, decrease my appetite, and decrease pain. Doc had me take 1/4 tab for a week, and it did all those things, Increasing it to 1/2 a tablet (working our way to a whole tab) and every single thing reversed, I was ravenous hungry, pain levels went through the roof, you get the picture.

If anyone has had a side effect from a drug, I will probably get it, or I will make up a new one. I am very sensitive to a lot of drugs. Cortisone you might rub on your skin for a rash will become systemic and keep me awake.

A medication I have taken successfully for years can suddenly become something I am allergic to. I had taken high dose aspirin therapy for my muscle aches, many years ago, took one dose one morning, and left to visit a friend in hospital. By the time I got there I had a full body break out, my whelps had whelps, and and I was having difficulty breathing. Instead of visiting my friend, I visited the ER.

Strange enough for you?

It sure makes taking medications a real adventure. You never know what's going to happen. I bet you feel a little like Alice in Wonderland. Curiouser and curiouser. One side makes you bigger, one side makes you smaller.

MizT, I was right - it was interesting! You definitely will need Al around.

Ebob has lost so many inches at Outward Bound that all of her pants are falling off her! I foresee some tucks in the pants future! Hubby and I were teasing her this morning that she was going out of her way to put the inches back on last night - if there was food in sight, she wanted to eat it. She claims it is a reaction to eating whatever was put in front of you, regardless of how much you hate it, because it was all you were going to get.

Heidi, yep, it can be an adventure, and never know what might happen. I am hoping they will give me meds that have been OK in the past and that they will still be OK this time! Needless to say, I do get a bit apprehensive when I have to have surgery.

I had a daughter who was the same MizT. I used to use a medication for my son and he would sleep like an angel. Then my first daughter came along, she had a difficult start in life, and when I gave her the same medication, she would bounce off the walls!

Slept better last night, hope you and spouses all did too.

Good morning all.
Em's back again today - still sniffly and sneezy. I am heartily sick of kids TV but it's not as if I can force her outside to play, so kid's TV it is.

Hi all. Cyn just keep giving her the extra love she needs. My mom started working when I was about 7 and if I got sick my grandma would come over to stay with me for the day. I loved having her all to my self. If anything, you are creating happy memories for Emily.
Suzy, sounds like I need to go OB like Ebob in order to lose weight.
Heidi, glad Sassy had her calf.
Tricia, hope all goes well with surgery and you don't have any strange reactions to the meds.
Don't remember what else I have read so if I missed anyone, I apologize.

Hello my friends.
Cyn, another hug coming from me for Emily.
Hope everyone is sleeping better.
Any excess weight send my way, still cannot put back on what I lost.
MizT, hope the meds are good ones for your surgery.
Love and hugs to all.
Heidi, have you re vaccinated the herd yet?

Not yet, Broni. I haven't had the help or time, and it worries me. Probably won't be able to until Thursday. I hope that I don't lose any more heifers before that. We only need to vaccinate the animals between 6 months and 2 years. But that means a rodeo sorting them out of the herd. One person can NOT do it. It's very difficult with two. So it needs to be when both IH and Robert are here.

I'm exhausted, and am going to bed early. everybody.

Another sleepless night! I think it must have something to do with spring arriving.

I am making headway with the feral cats outside that I feed. Two weeks ago I finally made friends with a black cat with a speck of white on his nose (I call him Splotch). Yesterday the same thing with an orange tabby (Sweetie). It has taken months of talking to them and making myself visible and occasionally handing out treats. Now all I have to do is raise some funds to get them neutered and their shots and hopefully find homes. It's kind of rewarding when you can turn a feral cat into a friendly cat. Splotch did bite me yesterday (which is why I keep up to date with tetanus shots) because he is jealous of any time I spend with Sweetie. Anybody want a lovable cat????

Heidi, my sister sent me an email about a horse that had been rescued from Hurricane Katrina. Someone somewhere along the line realized this horse was a fighter (for its life I mean). The horse had to have part of its leg amputated and a prosthetic device was made for the leg. It's a touching story and it made me think of you. The story tells how the horse will hold its leg out when it wants the device put on or removed.

Good afternoon lovely people - cyclone Emily has left the building - after a 3 hour sleep this morning she came good and I'm sure she's on the mend so I doubt I'll see her tomorrow morning.
Tami - I went back to work when my kids were 6 & 4 so they spent sick days and some of their school holidays with my parents. They still have warm, fuzzy memories from those times - so, yes, I hope Emily and the others have those memories in the future of us.
Broni - I would willingly give you a few (or heaps) of my kilos. As you know, I have plenty to spare.

Evening all!
School has been back one day and I'm already driving all over town. Sigh. I think we have Wednesday nights off - I hope we have Wednesday nights off!

Cyn, glad to hear cyclone Emily is coming good. I wonder if she's got the SA bad sleep problem? I wouldn't be surprised.

Theresa, you have to post a link when you tell us a wonderful story like that! Oops, just reread and it's an email... maybe I should send you a PM with my address! Where we lived in CA there was a place that acted as a permanent home for feral cats. These were cats that had been assessed and the decision made that they could never be adopted. It's amazing that Splotch and Sweetie are coming to you now.

Just heard an unusual sound (since last week) of an airplane flying over our house. Didn't get a chance to see what it was. It is looking as if all airports will be closed again soon. Only ones open have been in Scotland and Newcastle (which is 300 miles north of me) and then they were just doing short haul flights.

Eerie sound, isn't it, Brenda? I remember that sound of a plane flying over about a week or more after 9/11. All planes had been grounded after the hijackings, and the skies were silent for what seemed a long time. The first time I heard and saw a plane overhead, it was like entering the Twilight Zone.

I'm back, and my luck hasn't changed. My just-repaired tractor has a flat tire, and the tractor tire repairman can't get to it until tomorrow morning. Today's projects all involved the tractor.

Heidi, sorry about your tractor. Is it a bad puncture?
Suzy google 'Molly the pony" and you will get lots of stories about that horse.
I think they have ben doing some test flights Brenda. We were in Eastern Canada 9/11 and I also remeber the return of the planes. A day or two before we were due to fly into Boston.

The tire was perfectly fine yesterday, and is now flat as a pancake. I call that a bad puncture. The tractor tire place had to order a new inner tube.

Morning all!
Not old news to me Theresa!

Brenda, I'm hoping that they aren't rushing it. I know they are under pressure because people are losing a lot of money - I hope they didn't cave! Lives are worth so much more.

Heidi, more?????

The planes never stopped here after 9/11 as pretty much all of the planes we hear are military, and it's actually mostly helicopters. The freaky thing for us was driving past the Navy base on the way to taking the girls to school and seeing massive security when before there was one person standing in a booth.
