I just heard from Gil... It's getting confusing. The Doctors are now not sure that they're going to do the surgery on Doc. They say that he has only a 50% chance of surviving the operation. But without it he will die within 2 months. I don't really understand why they think he's so high risk. Besides the heart problem, he has NO other health issues at all, remarkable for an 86 year old man. All organs are healthy, and he exercises regularly. The hospital will be having a conference about whether to do the surgery in the next couple days. If they do operate, it won't be before Monday, when Gil has to be back here. Gil doesn't know what he's going to do yet.

I'd better feed the dogs and head off to bed at a reasonable time. Robert and I have a busy day tomorrow. We're getting ready to hook up the big generator. Today we moved the generator into the yard and got all the supplies we needed to build a protective roof over it. Tomorrow we build the roof. It'll be 12' x 8', and 7 ' high. We have to dig 4 holes 3' deep for the 6"x6" posts, set them in concrete, put down gravel for a floor, then frame out the roof and install it. This is a BIG generator.

Goodnight MizT, sleep well.
Heidi, hope they do the operation on Doc. With Gil being away guess you won't be re vaccinating the calves.

Afternoon all!
Sleep well MizT, codeine does the same thing to me. When Mum worked at a hospital the nurses had the doctors trained to prescribe something for it whenever they prescribed drugs known to have that affect. She has just put her surgeon through the same training!! He said he would 'try to remember', grrrrr.

Sleep well Heidi, big day tomorrow.

Broni, I know there's something I wanted to say to you.... was it congratulations or was there something else? um, guess I'll have to go back and check!

Heidi, the biggest problem that I can see is if they decide not to do the operation because it will mess up their statistics. That's what happened to my grandfather when a nurse walking past his room from the sleep apnoea ward had his heart surgery stopped. He'd had several successful surgeries over the years and had always had sleep apnoea.

Update on the little girl whose problems are 'all in her head'. They've put her in rehab. She is posting that she's a mental case so obviously doesn't understand what rehab is all about. It's very sad.

Broni... The Vet will be here in 9 days to do all the vaccinations on the cattle, and to castrate the bull calves. We will treat all the replacement heifers then. I'll have enough help here so Gil won't be needed if he's still away.

Heidi, I think they're hoping that after rehab the doctors might start believing them. I haven't spoken to them though as they are in Sydney with her. Well, not with her, but you know what I mean.

I've had a mad morning: Over town to buy face paint and fabric for party next Saturday night, to the school to deliver Ally's forgotten lunch and sign Ebob's forgotten permission slip, into town to buy groceries - we were low on everything!, home to put the cold stuff away, then back to town to drive Ebob to TAFE. I'm feeling very mean for not picking Ally up from school as she will have to run in, get changed and run out again for TaeKwonDo. I then have to head over the bridge to pick up Ebob from TAFE, back to town to pick up Ally from TKD, to the mall to check if Ebob has been put back on the work schedule yet, then home to take a deep breath. I had better put the rest of the groceries away now...

Hello everyone.
Broni, congratulations. Let us know when the baby arrives.

Brenda, congratulations on the newest member of your family, Vera Sophia.

Heidi, I'm sorry to hear about your budgies. Boo! Hiss! to the seller. Stupidity isn't a defence. What a cruel thing to do to those poor little birds.

MizT, you are sounding better all the time.

Nola, congratulations on your assignments and best wishes with your prac.

Just one more day at work (not that I'm counting down the days ). I've just had my car serviced so it's all ready to travel the hour to the coast - it was due for it's 30k service. I'm off to the hairdresser this evening and then I'll finally get around to some packing.

We've been having trouble with a rash on the dog's tummy. We think it's been caused by insect bites but after 2 trips to the vet, tablets and creams, it still wasn't better. I bought some pawpaw ointment on Tuesday and we've been using that. There was an improvement yesterday and he was looking better this morning. As a bonus he even likes the taste and licks our fingers clean afterwards. So far it's been the best $10 I've spent on the dog.

I'm heading home soon, so I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

I forgot to say well done Nola on your results. We all knew you would do well.
Pleased that the surviving budgies are getting better Heidi. Not so happy about what is happening with your FIL Hope this gets resolved soon and he can make a good recovery.
Suzy what has the bus inspector done?

Sorry, Thursdays I run around like a chook with its head cut off getting the kids to and from a bunch of stuff - not done yet either, leaving in a few minutes again. My 13 year old is waiting for the bus company to replace her bus pass. They have had the money for 9 days but haven't even tried to process the new pass. Today the inspector told Ally that if she didn't have it tomorrow she would have to PAY to take the bus. They are the reason she doesn't have one and she's going to have to pay them again! They already took at least $10 of her lunch money before she worked up the courage to tell us she couldn't find it. All this while they are being paid by the government to take her regardless of whether or not she shows them a bit of cardboard....

Off again - Ebob is at the Tea Club listening to her Physics teacher sing. Ally and I are going to listen to him for a little while with her and then bring her home. He's a real loon so he probably sings really well. :-)

Everyone seems very busy.
I bit the bullet and decided to paint the wall behind the computers while Ken is away. The wall has had one coat and the skirting board two. It is worse sitting on the floor painting the skirting board (they are 70's mission brown and I am making them white)which will need at least three coats of paint. I think it was easier painting the ceilings over the weekend.
At this stage I am hoping I have enough paint for the second coat on the walls otherwise I will have to go and buy some more!
I painted most of the computer room about 18 months ago when we were moving in some large cupboards. After this I just have to move an antique cedar wardrobe and paint behind it...........maybe in another 18 months????

June at least you intend to finish painting it. Many years ago when my first husband and I were refreshing the decor on a house we were putting up for sale, we ran out of the paint for the bedroom. We only had to paint behind a rather large wardrobe dressing table combination. We couldn't get the same colour again so we left it unpainted. The guy who eventually bought the house never mentioned it after he moved in

Brenda, it will be another big job as I wil have to empty the wardrobe of papers, photo albumns etc. The wardrobe does go into three pieces and there is over 10 years of dust behind it!.
I would have liked to do some more of the wall tonight but I am very stiff and sore. Combination of yesterdays fiasco in the parking and the up and down painting today.
Talking of the parking....I was talking to some friends today and they all said.."bet you parked in the green level" they had all had trouble finding the entrance to that level as all the other levels are accessable from the lift!. The green level's access is around a blind corner.

June, you need a brush with an extension handle! Mission brown was my father's favourite colour...I BLOODY HATED IT!
Good on you for making the decision. I think hubby and I are getting closer to painting the house, as we are getting so bored, and you can only garden so much!

Suzy, someone had trained my surgeon to prescribe something for that problem, and I took it twice a day as directed, but still.

Vicki, glad the dog is improving, and likes the taste if the med too? Very good,

Rotten stinking bus inspectors should not threaten 13 year olds, we will help you get 'em. Now, what is all this about?

Gettin' interesting. As we started the 4th, and last, post hole, we hit a drainage pipe from the gutter system. So not only does that post hole have to be moved, but another post has to be moved to square the roof up.

What a bummer Heidi. I hope you found the pipe before you put a hole in it?

I have too much furniture to move around so it would be more work all at the one time if I got a professional painter. Gail I used the extension pole to paint Belinda's ceiling but yesterday I just used a 3" brush as it was only one and a bit walls. The worst part was getting down to the skirting board.
We have a fashion parade at the bowling club this morning so about to make some scones for morning tea. Then I hope I find something nice for some retail therapy.

The Tea Club is amazing. From the outside it looks like a tiny little coffee shop with a sign saying who is playing. For a long time we wondered where anyone would play and why we never saw them. Their cakes etc to go with the coffee are all that healthy junk so hubby and I only had coffee there once. If you walk through there is an outdoor area with tables, chairs and a stage. Thursday is open mike night. I loved it! The Physics teacher takes songs and twists them around. For example, he did April Sun in Cuba, but reggae style. After him were men with a guitar and bongo drums. Nice mellow music. We had to leave then, being a school night and all, but heard the beginning of the next couple. A guy who looked like he was going to do screamo but played guitar while his girlfriend sang. Mellow again! I would have loved to have stayed.
