Afternoon all! We got lucky this morning. She was driving out as we were driving in. She was going to ignore us but I just wound down my window and smiled - Hi, he needs to get his work clothes. She grunted at me how he could get in and left, but not before we all managed a cheerful 'thank you'. She looked so cranky I'm glad he didn't have to be in the house with her!! He now has a bunch of his clothes, his favourite CDs and a couple of reference books he needs. Not much really considering. It's lucky we have somewhere for him to sleep and put his stuff.

MizT, great news about your exercises. The heat on the other hand sounds exhausting.
Well I'm off to do the stuff I forgot to do over town. Sigh. It's a long weekend so there are people everywhere! If we move again, it won't be to a tourist town....

Apparently to get the police to help me help him retrieve his belongings it has to go through a Chamber Magistrate and it takes about a month. I still might do that if his sister doesn't give him back his laptop...

Speaking of bad mothers. I just rang Andrew and he was so frazzled with the girls fighting between themselves. When they get like that on their Mother's weekend, she insists that he comes and collects Emily because she is too disruptive. (She is a bit because she's jealous that the others live with Mummy and she doesn't.) That aside - when they were so bad this morning he rang their mother to complain and she told him he just had to persevere. He said OK, I will because I intended to. And next time you want to complain to me - you just persevere as well! And hung up the phone! Woohoo!

Just past 11:30 p.m. and I have finally made it back!
Everyone!
Hi, Tami, Theresa, Heidi, Brenda, Suzy, CynB, Rolanda, MizTricia,
Enjoy your 3-day weekend, Tami! Next week sounds busy!
Theresa, I assume by now you have been to the hospital and may have started on an antibiotic. I hope you are feeling better! (Our doc always writes a prescription for 10 days when we need an antibiotic.) I enjoyed your comments about the patter of rain on a metal roof - does, indeed, sound soothing and restful.
Theresa, I have just read that you think your dizziness is caused because you inadvertently missed taking one of your medications. I hope you're right and you'll be able to get back on track quickly! I think most of us have at one time or another forgotten to take a medication. Somehow, life gets in the way, even when it's been a routine for a long time!
Heidi, I hope the thunderstorm didn't set off any of the dogs today! We would also need a building permit here, but then we are within city limits. I'm quite sure a rural area around here would not have the same requirements.
Suzy, I hope all went well when the boy went to get some of his belongings! Heidi, that is good advice to ask to be accompanied by a law officer as a witness and to ward off any problems!
Cyn, I'm glad you and Col had an enjoyable anniversary! Sounds like fun! I like your new frog avatar!
G'Day, Rolanda! I hope all is well!
MIzT, congratulations on "graduating" to just once a week therapy sessions! You have obviously been doing well on your home program! Good on you! I hope you were able to cool off and get some sleep!
Cyn, great news that Andrew stood up to his ex! Good for him and good for you!
Suzy, I'm glad things went relatively smoothly on you errand today! The entire situation is hard for me to fathom! We never realize what a blessing it is to have a "normal" family!
Just about midnight here and I was up WAY too late last night. If you don't mind, I'm going to excuse myself and say Good Night to everyone! I hope your afternoon/evening/night is all that you hope for. Hugs to everyone, especially those in need! See you all tomorrow!

Hi everyone! Haven't been here for a while, so I just spent time reading about what I've missed.
Theresa, hope you feel better soon. I guess you've already been checked for vitamin deficiencies? I had one a while back that caused major dizziness - a big problem for quite a while. Probably not what you have, but worth checking if your symptoms continue ... ?
Suzy, so sad when a mother acts like that -that poor kid.
Cyn, I hope Andrew managed to make his point. :)
Such a sad story about the woman who killed herself - I feel very sorry for her children. :(
MizT, I hope your hand continues to improve quickly and you are soon pain free and with full movement back. :)
Ok, I'll try to keep up to date, and talk to you again soon! Bye! :D

Hello my friends.
Well I am back. Had a big shopping day today yeuck!!!!
Needed some new clothes for winter as I have been freezing, finally found some jeans that actually fit me in the boys section size 14!
Heidi, hope the renovations are going well, sounds like the guy who was going to fit the skylight was just too lazy, I have 4 skylights in my house and none of them leak.
Suzy, hope you friend can get his laptop back from his sister.
Happy Anniversary Cyn and Col, sounds like a good relaxing evening you had. Go! Andrew, give her back her own medicine.
MizT, remember when you never thought your hand was going to improve?
Hope the Duck was yummy June.

Julie, thank you for your summaries would never be able to keep up at the moment.
Theresa, hope the meds are finally kicking in and you are starting to feel better.
Tami, enjoy your time off and playing leader of the camp.
Judy, good to see you here.
Now can I please vent.........?
I love my friend Teresa but she has been staying at my house more on that off for almost three months, she has been good trying not to interfer and helping when she can but I miss my privacy. Looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel (and hopefully not a Mack truck) that things will be turning around for her soon.
Love and hugs to you all.

I know what you mean about wanting some privacy Broni. It is nice to have company around, but sometimes it is nice just to have the place to yourself.

Suzy, when my daughter was a teenager we almost always had someone living with us who was kicked out of their home. I received a friend request on FB one day from one of these people, now grown up with two young teenage daughters. He said, "I owe you a lot." He was at our place a lot, never a trouble maker with us, but I knew he was a bit rough around the edges. It was nice to hear from him years later basically just to thank us. He is happily married and works as a chef. They can turn their lives around despite their background. He is also close to his mother right now and is getting to know his father (his parents are separated).
I never could understand how parents could kick their kids out.

Broni, my late brother-in-law used to say company is like fish, it starts to smell after three days.
Joking aside, when we first got married, my young SIL (18 years old) came to live with us. There were times I just wanted to yell: Go find a place of your own. I too like my privacy. You just never quite feel like you can have your own time to just be by yourself.

BTW, I am starting to feel better. Not quite as dizzy as I was. Hubby took me out to a chip stand last night that's worth the 20 minute drive. Then we went for a drive. I was exhausted when we got home ... never have been able to figure out how I can get so tired just from sitting there doing nothing.

Thanks to you all for sending healing vibes and good thoughts. I will have a busy day today as I did absolutely "nothing" the last four days or so except take care of the cats, both inside and out. The house is an absolute pig sty ... the dust elephants are taking over. We also need to do a major grocery shopping expedition ... go buy a new microwave ... the list goes on and on.

Evening all!
Broni, I hope for good things for Teresa and for you. I know what you mean about privacy. That's one thing hubby and I grimaced about with our new house guest...
He's not home tonight. He was invited to a party. What I thought was sweet was that he sent me a text asking if he could go. I had told him that he would be asked to follow the house rules but he would have to find out what they were as he went along as there were too many of them. So I sent him a text back saying "Sure, the rules are that we need to know where you are and if you are going to need a ride home. If you are going to need a ride home it can't be too late because we're old." For some reason he thought that was funny!

Hi Theresa! You were posting while I was typing. So glad you are starting to feel better. I have found that people who are 'rough around the edges' treat you with respect if you treat them with respect. I think we will learn from each other.

Yes Suzy, rough around the edges is not all bad. I think I told you when our daughter was a teenager she hung around with a group of friends who were not the friends that we would have chosen for her. They all ended up calling us mom and dad; it was heartwarming to hear from this young man who spent many weekends (as well as other times) at our place. I told him the only thing he owed us was to be happy.

Lost a post to my lousy connection - wish I'd copied it!! It said something like - we now have a therapist living with us - a kitten. I know I swore we'd never have a cat while we had birds and big dogs, but I got conned. Sigh. Oh well, she's very cute and her name is Nom Nom.

Hubby off again tomorrow, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore. There was some talk of me going too this time but I have been to Malaysia and Vietnam before. I have too much on this week anyway.
My friend sounded brighter and more positive today than she has for the last few weeks.

June, happy to know your friend is more positive and brighter. We are all pulling for her.
Theresa, you do have a busy weekend. Prioritize, in case you run out of steam. Delegate, ask for help. sometimes you might get some.
Gail, good to see you pop in, how are things in your world?
Suzy, how good the young may contacted you about the party. My sister took in a 'stray' young man for 2 years, a friend of her children, whose se xual preference offended his parents. he was with them 2 years till he went off to college. He turned out very well.
Broni, that was a very small vent, come back and vent any time you need. hope your home is again yours. great you found jeans to fit!
Judy, thanks for the get well wishes. Pain is getting better and therapist was surprised I was doing only Tylenol daytime. I guess this is just a painful surgery.

Suzy, I think that young man is going to be hanging around for a while. It sounds like he has some very good qualities already if he asked about the party. My brother's girlfriend and her family were kicked out of their apartment (due to her brothers) when she was about 21, my brother was 20. She had no place to go so my mom told her to come to us for a few days to get her head together. She stayed in my brother's room for 6 months while he slept in the family room. When she had saved enough to get her own place my brother went with her to help her get settled. He never came back. While she was with us she helped out whenever she could, doing the hsaw or gnikooc dinner. It was like having an older sister. My brother and her are still together, 30 years later.
