Suzy, the waiting lists for MRIs here are long ... my daughter's doctor put pressure on to get one this early. My sister needed an MRI one time and she waited six months.

Vicki, your weekend sounds wonderful!!!
Viv, I hope someone takes lots of photos of the play! I think it would almost be worth driving up to watch, but that's the busy Pride time of year.... we'll see...

Heidi, I hope you have been taking in-process photos and will post us some when it's all done!
Theresa, 6 months for an MRI???? That's crazy!
I was going to have to drive Ally to school but she got a ride with someone else. Three's father actually. Weirder and weirder.....

Nope... no in-process photos. Sorry. I hate anybody seeing anything I make before it's finished, and I won't do that to others.

Three is in the shelter. He has a tiny little unit/apartment all to himself. It is neat and clean, but sterile. There are people there watching over them, they have to cook one night a week, and they have a curfew during the week. We are not allowed to spend time in his room - only family. The only one who might is his brother. He has no money at all but they have a common kitchen which is open during certain hours. I made sure he has some of the basics in his unit, milk, cereal, milo...

At least it was his choice, Suzy. My nephew works in a group home for troubled teenagers (males only) and they seem to do wonders with the boys. They are strict there, but it seems to be what the kids need ... some sense of discipline and routine as well as responsibility. It might just be what Three needs at this time.
By the way, does he still have his job? I am sure that if he finds it too difficult, he will let you know via your daughter. He probably knows that your door will be open to him. Your home was probably the only real sense of "family" that he had. Still makes you feel bad though, huh? Hugs, hugs, hugs.

Theresa, just before he left Ebob showed me a poem he had written just after he got here. We made him feel loved and accepted. I hope he takes that with him... No job anymore. Another long story.

It's not really a group home though Theresa. It's an apartment block with supervisors. BUT, they will help him with his resume and job applications etc.

A couple of busy, tiring but fun days. Yesterday was a big day at the bowls club. Presidents Day and 40 year Anniversary of the club. Presidents day is very old fashioned and formal. Hats uniforms speeches etc. However the President is allowed to nominate 4 people who have done exceptional work for the club. They receive a Merit pin and I am now the proud possessor of one of those pins.
As Publicity Officer I was hard at work with my camera and took over 100 photos of the day. The worse thing is that I now have to write articles for the local newspaper and the NSW Women's Bowls magazine. Writing was never by best subject.
I have quickly glanced through your posts, thought of you all and please accept my apologies for not commenting.

HUGS, Suzy. I do hope Three will keep in touch with your family. Know you will want to follow his progress.
Good luck moving hay today, Heidi. It is over cast with a good possibility of rain here today, but lots cooler than last few days. I wish you the cooler weather weather, but no rain so hay can be moved.
Today is a busy day for me, back to back appointments with therapy and orthopedic doc, that is how they like to do it. I have to take a note to doc from Ashley, my report card, and he has to order continuation of my therapy. Saves me 2 trips, so I am OK with it. Of course I have " while you are so close" errands, pick up my huby some colas from wal mart, and a couple other items while I am there.
Would you believe I have lost my dirty clothes from my trip? I had help getting my things down tairs and loaded in sisters car, again help loading into my car at my sister's house on the way back, and help getting things inside once home. Clothes were in a plastic sack, and started in a larger tote, but tote was ov er full, no telling where they fell out. I e-mailed everyone, no one has seen them, I may have lost a couple of outfits, boo hoo.
Hope to be back later today, hugs to all.

I'll still be the one stacking the hay in the barn. That requires a lot of practice to do it well, and I can't complain about the job if I do it myself.

On Monday we are flying to Melbourne. Home again Friday. We are taking Laura with us. It will be her first flight. The three grandies have not been together for 18 months so it could be an interesting few days. The boys are 8 and almost 5.

On Saturday I am meeting Bev from Canada for lunch. We only knew she was coming to Australia the last few days. Ian and I were trying to organise something to get people together but she is staying 1 hour north of Sydney for a few days and the rest of her time in Canberra. I think Joann is organising something there.

Miserable afternoon.
As Robert was hauling the last load of hay, one of the wheels came off the hay hauler... on a dangerous curve in the road. I rushed over there, and so did George. It was decided that George would stop traffic from one direction, and Robert from the other, while I unloaded enough hay, as quickly as I could, from the hauler to take the weight off the rim with the missing tire, so we could get it off the road. The road is barely wide enough for 2 cars, with no shoulder, and 15 ft. drop offs on both sides. I'd decided to dump the hay in the first available spot instead of holding up traffic while I took each roll home individually. So, thinking that traffic was stopped, I unloaded 2 rolls and went to drop them off 25 feet away, on the opposite side of the road. As I changed lanes to dump the first roll, I had a collision with a speeding car. George had stopped them, then Robert mistakenly signaled for them to come through. They literally left a patch of burnt rubber as they gunned the car to pass me as I was swinging across the road. Nobody was hurt, but they'll need a new fender, bumper and tire. Except for a valve stem on 1 tire being slightly damaged, nothing happened to my tractor.

Heidi, staying inside for the rest of the day sounds like a great idea! I am sorry all of that happened. A bad day.

Oh Heidi, what a scary accident, could have been so much worse, though. I am glad noone was injured and only minimal damage to the vehicles. I would stay home too, in bed with covers pulled over my head.
June, hope you have a good flight. I am sure Laura will do just fine. how long a flight is that? Enjoy seeing your grandies again.
Both Ashley and the doc were very pleased at my progress. Range of motion is getting a lot better, but strength is lacking yet. that is to be expected, only been out of cast for 4 weeks. Doc recommended 4 more weeks of therapy for me, so insurance will pay.
I found the dirty clothes!! I had put them straight into the washing machine!! Had not washed since returning, cause, well, I could not find what needed washing hehehe. Nice to know they came home with me. I must have been more tired when I came in than I remembered, to do that with no momory of it.
Did a bit of shopping "while I was out" today. My favorite thrift shop is close by, got a really good buy on 2 new everyday knit tops. For everyday, I am still wearing too big tops, taken up twice, but they fall off my shoulder. that style might have been sexy on me about 30 years ago, but it is just uncomfortable now. I am trying to hunt the thrift stores and consignment shops for everyday shirts that fit. Today's buys cost me $3.75. That is total, not each, and this thrift shop is run my a women's charity, so good twice.

June, congrats on the bowls pin. From reading your posts in the past you certainly have done a lot for that group. Hope Laura enjoys her first plane ride. I am one of the rare people that has never been in a plane in my life. Someday ....
Oh Heidi, what a miserable afternoon. Glad you decided to stay in for the rest of the day.
MizT, yeah, you found your clothes! I am famous for putting things in a certain place for safe keeping and then not being able to find that place later. I always manage to find the things I was looking for later when I don't need them any more. Or going to the kitchen and then forgetting why I'm there .... the list goes on.
Thanks Rolanda.
Hubby took me for a drive this evening and we stopped for ice cream. Talk about living in a small town, huh? Tomorrow is Canada Day and there's a lot of stuff going on in town, starting with a parade and ending with fireworks.

Heading off to bed as soon as the dogs finish eating. By the time I wake up in the morning a) George and Mike will be installing the door to the sunroom, and b) IH will have left town for 4 days. I have something to look forward to!
Once Robert arrives, we'll drive into town and tow his van in to be repaired. He's having serious problems, and will have to replace the rear drive. In case you're wondering how he's gonna arrive here, he has a motorcycle.

Hi everyone.
Off to the photo shoot shortly for the play poster. Bought some lovely purple tights with spiders and webs on them and a hat. Also long sleeved lace purple gloves that I am cutting the ends off the fingers as I have just painted my nails with purple nail polish !! Lol
Greta is talking about a red wig.
The make up will be a sight to see.

Viv your costume sounds great, enjoy yourself with the photo shoot. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun on your acting debut.
June congratulations on your award from the bowling club, you do an awful lot for the club so it is right that they recognise this.
Suzy, hope Three settles into his new accommodation, he will still be able to visit you and your family when he wants, but he will have some independence away from his 'family' who sound as if they don't do him any good.

MizT good news on the progress of your hand, you must be squeezing the life out of the putty Heidi sent you. Pleased you found the clothes you thought you had lost. I have to admit to doing a similar thing so you are not going mad by forgetting where you had put them.
Heidi, life for you is never boring... though I think I would prefer it a little less incident ridden. The sun room is progressing swiftly, you will soon feel the benefit of the extra space.

Howdy all, just heading off to bed, but thought I'd pop in and see if you were all ok first.
Not long home from dinner out with three of my sisters, 'celebrating' Mum's birthday. We had a lovely evening out and I took along a photo of Mum to put on the table with us. We even sang Happy Birthday when the sticky date pudding came out with a candle on it! The photo 'blew' it out...
