Hi everyone.
Cold here tonight. 6.4c at the moment.
This sunroom where the computer is, is quite cold. I will retire to the lounge room and the wood fire shortly and keep going with the knitting.
Had a nice relaxing day today at the beach.
Read the newspaper and took my knitting.
Quite a change after the busy time I have had lately but back into it tomorrow.

Hope your new addition settles in okay Heidi.
Broni, have you heard from Dizzy Lizzy?
Hope all is okay with her.
Well what happened to my puddy tats? They lost the game against Collingwood. I am talking AFL of course.

Well, the kids have all left or settled into their rooms after the fortnightly dinner with the folks. Indian Roast Lamb feast tonight, always goes down a treat, especially with the cocktails that Daddy makes for afters!

Broni, I have never broken an ankle and I will not wear heels. I only buy flats. If I have to buy dress shoes they have the lowest heel possible. Good to see you visiting us.
Suzy, I always try shoes on. The 10 might fit. I buy mostly 11 but can still wear a 10, depending on the style.
Julie, hope you get everything done and can come back soon.
Tricia, I will vote again today for your grandson's cause.

I am impressed with Lady. No accidents last night, and she's really learning her way around the house and yard. Right now she's sleeping in the sunroom.

I've broken my left ankle ('99) and my left leg ('07) and I still occasionally wear 3" heels. I prefer flats.... Crocs or moccasins (the authentic ones, not the kind with artificial soles).

I feel the need to go back to sleep. I got up to let Lady out ... at her age I don't expect her to learn to use the dog door... so now I can resume my sleep. After that, yrdnual and lawn mowing.
I told IH that he could use my truck to go to church. His truck is laid up at the repair shop, and will be for at least a week. He's been ignoring a serious out-of-alignment issue, and the truck is now a death trap.
Tomorrow he's going out of town for 4 days, so I'll have to drive him to the airport in the morning. I have no idea how he's going to get back home. I don't feel like picking him up.

Heidi, do they have taxis in your neighborhood??? If he has to pay for the service he may remember to get his truck fixed next time. Yeah, I know, keep dreaming.

The closest Taxis that I know of are in Louisville, where the airport is. You ARE dreaming if you think IH will spend that kind of money.

Hubby and boys took me to go try on the shoes. They did not fit but the store had different styles than the one yesterday. Hubby actually found me a shoe that fits and was a few dollars cheaper. I now have new black shoes and will look for brown in a few weeks.

Congrats on the new shoes, Tami. I hate shoe shopping because of the strange shape of my feet ... They're very short and extremely wide. In length they're a 6 - 61/2, and they're EE in width. Stores don't carry those. I have to compromise on an 8 W (and stretch their width), or have shoes custom made to fit. There are also a couple of mail order companies that specialize in extremely wide feet, but their prices are astronomical.

Suzy, and anyone else, if you really want to see the wedding photos, I can send you a link and the password to the photographers website by private message or e-mail. Daughter assured me granddaughter owns the copyright to the photos and we can visit the site if we want. BUT, I do not want to put the link here on such a public forum.

Broni, secret of the left arrow is, type first letter of your word you want to be backword, like W in work. then click the left arror, that moves the cursor one space to the left of the W. not type O and click the left arrow. Cursor moves to left of the O. Continue, tyoing alternating letter, left arrow till end of the word and there is your word, typed backward.

Rolanda, your relaxing weekend must have truly left you relaxed, you could barely rouse yourself to type 2 sentences Good to see you drop in friend.

Gail, your Sunday meal sounded wonderful. When I grow up I want to be the gourmet cook you are!

VIV, I would have enjoyed the day at the beach with you. Give me an invite next time, please.

I gave up high heels many many years ago. they hurt my back to wear them, and besides, I always had weak ankles ( birth defect) and have turned my ankle leading to minor to major injury too too many times. I will join Heidi in crock or authentic moccasins. When I was a teen, I could buy a moccasin kit at Tandy's leather goods store ( usually adjacent to radio shack back then) and lace together my own moccasins. I do not have a pair of the right kind of moccisians now, Daughter bought me a pair with the soles, thought she was doing a good thing. They are in my closet, unworn.

Now, Heidi, perhaps you have found a way to rid yourself of Gill for a longer while. We know he will not pay for a ride home from airport, so if you do not go get him, perhaps he will camp out at the airport indefinitely ??

I need to make a picnic lunch. Hubby and I must go to town for a couple of items, I need antibiotic cream for the removed spot on my back, ( slow to heal) and he needs tooth -powder. Thought we would have a car picnic at the park, sit in the car by the river, too hot for out on the picnic tables. I love to watch the water rush by. with the huge rains upstream the last couple of days , it should be rushing nicely.

Hugs to all, espically to those I failed to mention today, you get extra hugs.

Hubby took a nap instead of taking me on a picnic, gol-dern-it!

Almost 3 hours since anyone was here? Laid back day for us topsiders I imagine, and the DUGs are just now starting their day on the east coast.

Morning all!
MizT, I would love to see the wedding photos! You have my email address... I gave up high heels about the same time I gave up work, and took them up again about the time my kids grew to be my height... not as high though, I'm too whimpy for 4" heels now. My problem is with plastic or rubber shoes - they make my feet itch.

Rolanda, what MizT said. Wish I'd had one of those... No I don't. We made some fun memories for the girls. Though poor Ally had to sleep on the lounge last night. It was too scary in her room. Hubby asked if I was going to put that on fb - NO.

Tami, I'm glad you got a pair of shoes. I am like you - black and brown to cover all outfits. One week left of camp...

Heidi, that would be annoying! My feet are the same length as yours and wider now that I have had kids, but I can buy regular width for most styles. I have a friend who bought one pair of custom made shoes and wears them all the time. I know you will pick up Gil from the airport. I can imagine him leaving you there, but not the other way around.

Gail, what MizT said.

Broni, I hope you have a nice quiet week and can come and visit with us!

Viv, I'm glad you got to have a quiet day to catch up with yourself. More please!

Julie, I hope I remember what page your pen photo link was on. I've already lost my fast connection this month and couldn't get it to open. Maybe later today...

Three was mugged yesterday. I don't think he reported it to the police. I'm going to call the care worker today about it. I don't think he was hurt, but I'll find that out too. I do know he is very scared.

denaelc out part of my closet today. Threw out a bunch of shirts that were ripped/stained and have a pile to give to Salvation Army. I even found some shirts in the back that might fit. It is fun shopping in your own closet

Good evening all ... life is too hectic for me to get here as often, but I do read every day with my morning coffee.

The weather here has been beautiful the last three days, nice and sunny during the day, but definite sweater weather in the mornings and evenings. Today it is raining, but we do need the rain so I won't complain. Haven't had the A/C on for about a week now and I even have to sleep with a blanket on. I'm loving it.

My daughter's hip and leg are really sore lately, and her right knee is swollen. She also has arthritis in both hips now, so I guess the rain isn't helping. So I've spent extra time there looking after the girls and making meals, picking up a few groceries, even on the weekend. So I'm a bit tired, even after a three hour nap this afternoon. With the cooler weather lately I've been taking the grandies outside for a couple of hours every day. They play on their play structure and I sit and knit or crochet (as long as it's not an intricate pattern because they talk to me all the time). They are such sweeties.

No luck with the job hunt yet. I've got in several applications and will be sending out a whole bunch more this week. I'm hoping that something will come along once the students are back at school and give up their summer jobs. I only want two or three days of work a week because I still want to be available as much as possible for my daughter. I love her to pieces and can't stand to see her in pain all the time.

Hubby has gone to his parents to help out for the day. They too are being stubborn shall we say. They are in their 80's and not terribly mobile. My FIL is almost deaf and refuses to go to a hearing centre. My MIL's doctor has suggested assisted living and her answer basically was NO WAY. They both still have their faculties, so there's not much we can do at this point. It is a worry.

My MIL fell in the tub last week and it took my sister-in-law almost three hours to get her out. She was calling for my FIL to help, but he didn't hear because of his hearing loss. She then lit into her father afterwards about getting his hearing checked because if she hadn't been in the house at the time, her mother could have died in the tub with no one to hear her. My MIL is a bit bruised, but only where my sister-in-law grabbed her by the wrists, but my sister-in-law is very sore. My MIL weighs over 200 pounds. We had a hand held shower installed there and they were told not to take baths anymore, to sit on the tub stool and shower instead. But I guess my MIL had decided she wanted a bath. Oh no, they're not stubborn at all! They are both getting very frail. Now I know where my hubby gets his stubborness from.

Well, I have to go and do some ffuts. I stripped the beds earlier, did four loads of yrdnual, and now I have to go make the beds again. So TTFN and I hope to be back later.

Theresa! I hope she lit into her mother too for ignoring the advice about baths. How scary and awful for your SIL.

I'm glad it has been cool enough for your grandies to play outside. Knitting and crocheting while watching them play and talking to them sounds very therapeutic.

Sending hugs, thoughts and wishes....

Suzy, yes, she did light into her mom ... I don't think her mom will be taking a bath again. I do find knitting or crocheting therapeutic. I haven't had a lot of time in the past to do anything like that, and I missed it.

BTW, you are a glutton for punishment having that party at your place! You are a very brave soul, young lady! Glad it all turned out well.

IH is still upset from last week when he was called an old man at the restaurant. He said that nobody has ever called him that before, so I reminded him that I call him that all the time.
He also asked me to pick him up at the airport on Thursday. I said "NO". I reminded him that I'll be having oral surgery at that time. I told him to rent a car, since he'll need one anyway because his truck will still be in the shop. He wasn't happy about it but he has no other option.

Hi Viv and everyone else! Bloody phone companies. Lord, I hate them. I'd swap but Telstra is worse than Optus and none of the other companies have great coverage. It mightn't be quite so hard if you actually spoke to someone who had english as their first language.
I've given up wanting the world from them (it ain't gonna happen). I just want to return this ugly chunky phone they sent me so I can go and visit a store and chose something that I want without having to pay to break a contract when they failed to meet their side of it.
Rant over - for tonight at least.

I had my usual weekend visiting my mother on Saturday and hubby's mother on Sunday. Well, that took over the whole weekend and there wasn't much left for Kevin and me.
The apprentice has his 21st birthday next week and I've offered to buy him a queen size bed as a present (he doesn't want a party). All I have to do is get him near the shops so we can choose something.
The student now wants a bigger bed as well. Sorry buddy, but we have dibs on a second hand car for you. A friend of ours is trading in his wife's Mazda 3 which is nearly 4 years old and has done about 14000ks. He will sell it to us for whatever the car yard offers him for it as a trade in. It's a good buy but we just have to wait for him to be ready to sell it.

Theresa, does the Canadian government have carer's pensions that you may be able to apply for. In Australia, if you are the primary carer for a person you can be entitled to a pension.
One fellow I worked with became his wife's carer (she had epilepsy) and he retired to look after her.
