I was living in my mother's shed while we waited to buy this house. We were watching something on TV and when it finished I changed the channel. I stopped on footage of the tower burning wondering what movie it was. Then the second plane hit and the commentary told me it was real. I started to cry.

I was in car having just dropped the kids off at their daycare. Mitchell was almost 5 and Dylan was 10 months. I was meeting my friend at a bakery when we heard it on the radio. We both went home and shortly after I was called to say that Macy's would be closed the rest of the day. I went to pick up the kids and watched a lot of kids videos that day as I didn't want Mitchell to see what happened. The county I live in has a big port for cruise ships and they basically shut down the county. Everything was asked to close as a precaution.

I was at work and heard it on the radio. It was unbelievable. One of the young kids at work said something flippant and I just about crawled down his throat. I spent the rest of the day feeling like I was going to break down and cry at any minute. My boss turned on his TV and invited the office people to watch some footage. I just remember feeling totally stunned. Not a day I will ever forget.

I was outside doing farm chores and my neighbor, George, flagged me down to tell me about the planes hitting both towers. I rushed to the house to turn on the TV in time to hear about the Pentagon and the plane going down in Pennsylvania. It was more horrific than I could comprehend. I went outside and looked at the sky. For the first time since I lived here, the sky was clear of planes. We're under a major flyway, and UPS is headquartered in Louisville, so there had always been numerous planes visible 24 hours a day. Horrible day.

I was at home having coffee with AL, watching the morning show. Actually saw the second plane live as it crashed. I had a quilt on my quilt wall, just off the living room. I turned it face to the wall, to keep the evil that I felt from the TV from spilling out onto it.

My sister saw the towers go down from just across the river, in New Jersey, in an office building there. Some of her co workers died in the tower, their job was spread over 2 locations. she could have been in the tower if some of her crew needed her there. Six of them that survived rented a car and drove back to Atlanta.

Hi, Broni, Tami, Theresa, MIzTricia, Heidi, Gail, Suzy, and June! (on page 341)
Broni, I'm amazed that you made it through 8 pages without life interfering too much! I'm luck to get through a couple of pages per sitting and/or without interruption! I imagine Bella is thrilled to have you all to herself!
Tami and Theresa (and others), we seem to be like-minded about the Florida minister. I'm still praying that he spends the entire day Saturday closed up inside a house (or cave or hole) somewhere FAR away from media and does NOTHING to jeopardize the lives of so many!
Oh, dear, Theresa! You were up at 3:45 a.m.! I hope all goes well with school preparations with your grandies and you can get at least a bit of rest as the day progresses!
Tami, great idea to pop in for a visit after Mitchell is gone and before the rest of the household gets up!
I hope Rolanda's niece is doing better and the baby decides to wait a while before making its appearance! While I'm thinking of Rolanda, I hope you and Peter have a wongerful weekend in the new caravan!
MizT, good for you and your 2 good nights of sleep! I hope you're able to keep that routine! I hope you and Al had a good and productive day!
Heidi, I'm glad you were able to get some rain and didn't work on the fence today! Also, good news from the vet today for Lady and Lucy. So sorry you had to lift them in and out of your truck and aggravate your back! I'm hoping it is much better after some rest today!
Theresa, so sorry the grandies had another tough getting-ready-for-school day! At least you were able to find time for a nap (hopefully shorter than yesterday's)!
Gail, Suzy, and June, thank you for remembering! Some librarians in Chicago have suggested reading from the Koran tomorrow - an anti-book burning activity. Today was the last day of Ramadan It's an interesting confluence. What will it take to get the people of the world to realize we are all one race and most of the major religions have amazing similarities?

Who is going to see Robin Williams live? He was on David Letterman tonight, and I really enjoyed him. Not as wild and out of control as he got for a while there, tonight he was funny. In the past I thought sometimes he was just too manic.

This is interesting. IH told me that he'd be home between 4 and 5 pm. It's now approaching 3 am and he isn't home yet. And he hasn't called. Should I start checking for his life insurance policy?

Hi everyone! Had alovely day today, meeting some of our Sudoku friends for lunch - you are SUCH nice people! :D
9/11 - it was a different world then. No-one will ever forget that day ... I'd put the late news on - something I didn't usually do. The first plane hit as I watched. My son came in and said "Was it a terrorist attack?" and I snapped at him "Don't be silly!" Then the second plane hit ... We watched for hours ... we knew that the world had just changed for the worse ... :(

Are you hungry yet? I couldn't do toast and cheese justice yet.
From your 9/11 comment I deduce someone has made a comment on this date in history when the world as we knew changed for ever. Look forward to reading the posts.
For some unknown reason our tv was also on and I witnessed the first plane hit the tower. I don't recall getting any work done for days.. I was glued to the tele in shock, disbelief and horror.

Yes, I suspect his usual lack of consideration. He did call yesterday afternoon, tho' and said that he was on his way home. It's a 2 hour drive. Knowing him, tho', he probably decided that he was too tired after all of his driving (Northern Ohio on Wednesday, Central Indiana on Thursday and his plant on Friday) and stopped at his apartment, forgetting to tell me of his change of mind. I am not lucky enough to have him permanently gone.

Still no sign or word from IH. I figure that if he was killed in a car accident, the police would have checked his ID and called me. Apparently, he's going for the record for inconsiderate behavior.

Beautiful day here, and then scheduled for another three or four days of rain. Off to get a few groceries and then try out our new vacuum cleaner which is supposed to be good on pet hair. Sorry for the swearing.

I was asleep next to my hubby on the couch, a habit I used to have, and he saw the live coverage of the planes and towers. He said he desperately tried to wake me, all to no avail, so I slept through it, only to wake up the next morning to the news. The TV didn't go off all day, in fact, we took one to work and had it going behind the machine. It was replayed over and over, and every time, I wished for a different ending...

We had a wonderful time today with our dear friends, and the celebration of Liz's birthday was fun. Hubby was in two minds as to whether he was going to come, as today was a treatment day, but chose to join us right at the last minute! I must say I was very pleased he came, as was he.
It meant though that we had a very late start to his treatment, suffice it to say he has not long finished, which is why I am up at this awful hour! YAY, it is Sunday, and I don't have to get up for anything!

OOOPS, I am signed in with my OLD LD name, one without the 1 added to it. I was looking for the photo of the memorial quilt for 9/11, was going to put it up on my page, but alas I cannot locate it. I'll change back when I return. Time to make some lunch here, hugs to all.
