Good maEn everyone!! Long day here in Utah. Pretty nice outside, cool & clear day. I did 4 loads of yrdnual in 2 days & denaelc all the bathrooms...relaxed the rest of the day.
Can't remember anything I've read, just lots of talk about food!!!
Darrell & I are going back up to Washington for Thanksgiving. My sil is a terrific cook!! I always gain weight when we get back!!
Had a good discussion with my friend George (from the other site--HS buddy) about bullying & mean people...I never realized he was bullied and I wish I knew that because I would have kicked the you-know-what out of anyone who teased him!! I was teased because of having to wear a leg brace to elementary school...Some of those kids mellowed out as they got older. George told me about 1 kid who I would have NEVER guessed would do anything like that...Where do kids learn this?? Is it from their parents or is it because the parents are so complacent??? Would love to hear thoughts on this subject. George is thinking of writing a book or making a film about this...I am planning to help him with it.

One thing I will give him Heidi, he is a good truck driver or steering wheel attendant as he calls himself.

Hi, All! I'm back for a few minutes to get caught up.

Hi, Suzy, Heidi, Broni, Suzanne and Gail!

Suzy, all the best to Alie! I hope she enjoys music camp! We definitely need to find a way to beam over there! Please let Alie know all her cyber aunties will be there in spirit!

Cyn, I hope Emily is better today! I'm hoping the weather is, too! I'm wishing safe driving for everyone on the road - and defensive driving for Col!

Broni, enjoy your time alone! I hope everyone at the bike race will be safe!

Suzanne, great TOPP - and good for you and George and a book/movie - or both - about bullying. It's MUCH too prevalent!

Broni, I'm so glad Possum is an excellent steering wheel attendant and avoided the jackknifed truck!

I need to head off to bed. We have an early morning, including at least an hour drive to hubby's annual visit to the nephrologist - (I bet Gail knows what that is) - a kidney specialist.

Sending positive vibes, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and prayers for all of you and those you love!

Finally feeling less blah, wasn't the lack of caffine it was preservatives that did it. Went to a christening yesterday for a friend of Pete's, have eaten BBQ there once before and the same thing happened.

Hi all - Col is home safely. But has no work tomorrow - would be OK if he was on permanent but he's doing a 12 week trial on casual first (8th week now) so no work- no pay, darnit!
Emily has rested well and is feeling OK. Still no reason for the episode, her Mum did give her the meds and Em has confirmed that. They spent the weekend helping her other grandparents move house, maybe there was something in that - but, what I don't know.

Cyn, I don't know much about epilepsy but wonder if stress is a trigger? Sorry about Col not working right now. That would be a hard one for you - behind jack-knifed trucks like possum or home safe and broke... I haven't found that news story yet and I have been looking.

Julie, hope hubby's visit to the nephrologist - and I'm not going to check the spelling until after I've posted, challenging myself! - was a positive one.

Hubby had never heard of Holden before he came here, but from driving the work cars he prefers Holden over Ford. He says it's pretty much General Motors.

Hubby and I won $78 in lotto today - and spent it on margharita fixings (yes, they cost that much here). We haven't had a margharita since we left California. What a blast from the past - and no work tomorrow so it's like a Friday or Saturday night for us!!

Favourite moment: Hubby and I were chatting on the way home from dropping Alie off about the Aria-equivalent praise from my mother. He said, and I agree with him, that his favourite mum-Alie moment was the first time mum saw Alie sing. She was walking and talking grumpily, 'the things we have to do for our grandchildren' seemed to be her attitude. And to give her some leeway, sitting outside in a park with a few thousand people on uncomfortable chairs is not that much fun. Then she heard Alie sing. Her attitude changed instantly to proud grandmother. It was such a 180 it nearly knocked us off our feet. We laugh about it every year before Carols.

Suzy, save me a margarita. They are one of favorites. Are you making them frozen or on-the-rocks?
I would love to be able to have a beam-me-up lunch but I don't know if I could make it weekly. Monthly would be much easier for me to arrange my schedule.
Cyn, glad to hear that Emily is doing better. Hope that that was just an isolated episode. Sorry about Col. Hope he gets more work.
Victoria, very glad to hear about your sister and the dog being OK. Car accidents are not fun.
Don't remember much else. I will be back later.

Hmmm, I'll have a margarita too, thanks, Suzy. I won't hang around and spoil the party, just slurp quietly in the corner and go home!
Tami - don't worry abot Col, his job is safe, just no work in this heavy rain, only temporary!

Oh, suprise, suprise, it's still raining - actually it's pouring at the moment. Dog has given up in disgust and gone to bed.
#2 son still isn't home from work - he left at 5:30 this morning.
I'm doing puzzles from Saturday and listening to "The Event" but I should be gninori hubby's shirt for tomorrow.

Vicki - the rain seems to have been worse on your side of town, although still raining lightly here. Did you have any trouble getting to and from work? Col said it took him 45 mins to get through the Deagon Deviation this morning (about 1km for those who don't know)!

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE SEND THAT RAIN HERE!!!!!??????? We're having a nasty drought... all the pastures are brown and crisp, and the electric fences don't work, because the circuit is completed by moisture in the soil. We just had to round up 5 cows that were wandering the neighborhood looking for some green grass. It took 3 people and 2 trucks, but we got it done. I don't know how many will get out later. I've got lots of hay in front of them. When Robert gets here, he's going to have to walk the fence looking for problems.

Strange, but TRUE story.....
A little over a week ago, an elderly neighbor was finally put in a nursing home by his equally elderly wife. I thought that was the end of the story. I just heard the rest of it. He was in the nursing home for only a couple of hours, and decided that he didn't want to stay there..... so.... he threatened to slit the throat of one of the attendants with a big knife. The nursing home sent him home immediately. A couple of hours later, he vanished. All of his relatives were called and a search took place around the neighborhood. They looked for hours. He was finally found in one of OUR barns, stark naked, taking a bath in a goat water tank. They have changed his medications.

I know you take in strays and rescues, Heidi, but are you starting on the two legged kind? I know this story is kind of sad, but strangely enough it made me chuckle. I guess I am just a twisted person.

It made me laugh my head off. That neighbor has always been an eccentric character. He's really over the top now that he has dementia.

Morning all!
Frozen margharitas - yum yum. Hubby took a sip and concluded it tasted just like home. That's often a problem here, he'll have something that he expects to taste a certain way and is disappointed. Not last night - yummy!

Heidi, your nekkid neighbour story was funny AFTER he was found. Before that it would have been a mixture of terrifying and annoying. I was horrible enough to find the ending funny...

Victoria, Cyn, Broni, anyone else up there and all of your spouses, partners and friends - BE SAFE! It would be nice if the rain would move inland for a little while...

There are margharita fixings left over - you are all welcome to join us next time! Who wants the worm???

Don't you hate it when your browser decides an email from a friend is SPAM? Nearly lost one today! It sounds like sooo much fun...

Starting to find out what an empty nest will feel like. It's weird. Some parts of it I think I will love. The parts that feel bad so far are making plans and not taking the kids' schedules into account. You'd think that would be one of the good bits!

RIP Dame Joan. Now there's another blast from the past...

Speaking of blast from the past. I heard something on the radio and was so surprised I didn't believe it until I saw the sign for myself - Petula Clark is going to perform here! She has to be nearly 80 herself. And who do we have managing our new entertainment centre that has the pull to get someone like her to this one horse town??

Good maEn everyone! Can't remember what I read (I know, so what ELSE is new??).
After the conversation about bullying with my friend George, there was a news report that 50 kids/young adults have been victims of bullying in New York alone since January!!!! WHEN will this ever stop??!!!
Whoever is making the margaritas (Suzy??!?) and the food, BEAM ME OVER!!! I am so lazy about cooking lately with D on graveyard shift, most nights are cheese & crackers (and wine, of course!)
