We are now back to having a music store in town. We had 3 and KMart used to sell a good variety. They all closed one by one and even KMart only sells top 30 and pop compilations now. But Sanity opened today. Their selection is not fantastic as it's not a huge store, but they will order in anything you want.

Hi all,
Suzy, no you are not a mean Mother.Always concerned if it doesn't seem right.
Tami..Good on you changing a faucet.I won't attempt it because I might get that job also.
Tricia..poor Al, feeling the effects of the chemo. My sister found eating anything she felt like, helped a little, even if it wasn't that nourishing but what she could keep down. Hope he feels better soon.
Broni..hope the show is great.
Theresa..MIL has probably had time to think.
Sometimes we blurt out before realizing how hurtful it can be. Hopefully that was the case.
Greg has arrived safely in Taree. Having a BBQ at nieces place tonight whom is 5 days overdue to give birth. She hopes to go tonight so that she doesn't have to wash-up. Good luck to her as there is no sign of going.

I remember saying something really AWFUL to my daughter Renae once, which just came out before I thought about how it would affect her.
Renae is a small 48kg woman. After many IVF attempts, was having a BABY.At about 4 weeks, found it was twins, then at the next scan, they said it was quads. She rang and said "Mum, how am I going to have quads".
My immediate response was "Renae, you cannot have quads". This has haunted me since but Renae
keeps reassuring me, it was her first reaction also. One set of identical twins died at 7 weeks but the other set survived and she had the twin girls at 29 weeks gestation.
You would think I would learn, but occasionally,I still open my mouth before thinking.

I think we all have times that we say things we wish we could retract.
Sorry I have been skimming through the posts but have been a bit too tired to comment back.
Especially thinking of MizT and Al. My thoughts are with you both. Often it takes several days to the effect of the Chemo to be felt. Just let us all pray that it is doing what it is meant to do.
Please know I have kept up with what you are all doing. You are in my thoughts. Sharon and Laura's father came to dinner and they have now gone home so I will have a day for myself tomorrow. Though MIL is now home from hospital so I guess we will go and see her. I do not think they ever sorted out why she had diarrhea.
Very tired so I think an early night is called for.

I agree with June, we all have said things without realizing what we said. I know I have many times.
Did the grocery shopping and am now getting ready for the first of 2 baseball games today. Dylan plays at 11:30 and Mitchell at 4:00. Another day at the ballfield.

June and Suzy, I hope you are soon back to bed where every good little girl should be at 2 am.

Tami, I hopoe you have a good day at the ball fields, and that the boys play well. would be nice if they won too, I am cheering for them.

Nola, I too am always thinking fore I attempt a new job around the house, cause if I do it once, it somehow becomes my job. Once I took extra ice out to the freezer in Al's office, and walked in saying NOT MY JOB, NOT MY JOB hehehe.

Another bad day in the making for AL. I am trying to get just a bit of food and liquids into him. He had rather sleep. Why to husbands and children get sick on weekends when it is difficult to get medical assistance?

We had a frost last night. I do not know if my flowers on the front survived or not. I went out late to cover them, I had left the blanket out for just such a time, and I had forgotten it when it rained, it was soggy and heavy, not a good thing to spread over plants.

I did buy some pansies yesterday, when I stopped at Wal Mart on the way home from the clinic. It is a good thing that unlike babies and pets, you can leave husbands in the car while you are shopping. We needed supplies for his dressing changes and a few other essentials. Yes, flowers are essentials for me, that $4 worth of flowers will provide me months of good cheer at my back door. I suppose I should plant them today. The coleus that are in the container I will use are gone, nothing but tall sticks with 2 leaves each. A Charlie Brown Garden

Slow, quiet day here. I need to clean out my stock trailer still, but nothing else much needed outside. I slept until 1 pm, but was up most of the night with the Aztec two step.

My intermission was both short and long. I didn't go back to bed for a few hours but I did fall asleep in front of the TV. My brain was working overtime and needed distracting - luckily I was able to find a channel not playing those stupid 30 minute advertisements.

MizT, the investment in flowers sounded like an excellent idea to me. I hope Al eventually ate and drank something - that banana based desert you mentioned a couple of days ago sounds irreistable. Thoughts, wishes and hugs from me.

Nola, your D was probably relieved when you said what she was thinking rather than upset.

Tami, congratulations to Dylan's team and good luck to Mitchell's.

I might be off making coffee again tomorrow. 6 am start ugh!

Tuesday I'm thinking about heading down to the racecourse at 6am. Channel 9's morning show is going to be broadcasting from there and since that is something I've never seen or done I thought it might be interesting. A friend works there so I won't be alone.

Al has managed to eat and drink a bit today. The chemo had left his mouth, throat, and stomach raw and irritated and very hurtful when swallowing. I just did what the docs seem to be doing for everything other chemo caused problem, treat the symptoms. It hurt to eat, so give him pain meds, then feed him, small amounts, often. Between, he has slept. Now if the cancer is in as bad a shape as he is, we will be OK.

Thank you for all the well wishes. I tell him about the messages, and he smiles.

MizT, you and Al are in my thoughts. I'm glad he was able to eat a bit.

Busy day today. The big haul of groceries is done and put away. We just need to get a couple of pumpkins tomorrow to carve for the girls ... they want to come with us to pick out their own pumpkins. We get very few kids, if any, at Halloween, so I will spend the evening at my daughter's place while they take their little ones out. I bought a big box of chocolate bars just in case we get a few kids .... if not, they're mine, all mine.

Feel better, Heidi. I had that problem earlier in the week and subsisted on rice for a few days.

I've got the sloshy thing going.

There's snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. A friend from Ottawa told me it's snowing there now and the rooftops are white already. So I guess it's headed our way. It's early in the year so I doubt if it will stay. It's pouring rain here right now.

Good morning all
MizT - keeping Al in my thoughts. Big hugs! Enjoy your pansies!
Suzy - is there any special reason why the Ch9 morning show is going to your racecourse? An anniversary? Previous winner Arwon? That weatherman fellow, Steve(?) often talks to the crowd. You might get your 15 mins of fame - if you do, send me s text because the show's delayed 1 hour before it's screened here. (Not the big race, we'll get that in real time).

Hi all.
Tricia, whether I mention it or not, you and Al are in my thoughts. My mom also said that she is thinking about both of you. She reads the posts but does not always reply.
Mitchell's team lost 10-1. He got walked on his only at bat and was thrown out at 2nd. At least he tries.

Hubby and I got brand new (Nokia) mobiles 2 months ago. When he picked his up this morning it is dead! We switched batteries but his battery works in my phone. This is ridiculous! We'll go down to the Optus shop later but I'm predicting that, even though they are the providers, and they arranged the deal and sent us the phones which should still be under warranty, they will expect us to take them to Nokia - somewhere in the CBD. He does have a phone provided by work but that's not the point. Not happy Jan!!!!

I've got my little stash of goodies for my Halloween visitors tonight.
This afternoon we go to Lachlan's 12th birthday party - in a park and weather not looking particularly brilliant, hope it doesn't rain. This will be his last party as a kid and probably the last one until his 18th. He's not 12 until Tuesday 2/11. I can't believe those 12 years have gone so fast. And we're all giving him money because he's saving for a lap-top - so hopefully after today he'll have enough.
Wahhh - my baby grandson is 12! Boohoo!

The odds are that we're not having Trick-or-Treaters here. In the 20 years we've been here, we've only had them twice. But I do have some Tootsie Roll Pops in case. If no kids show up, I love 'em.

Cyn, apparently they called around a bunch of racecourses and they each got to say why it should be at their place. The manager here apparently won them over, and she did mention Arwon. The Melboune Cup itself was here too when it did it's tour. I hope Steve doesn't talk to me because I would sound like an idiot.

I still have to go shopping for our Halloween stash - which means we'll probably get to eat it as we don't get many out here.

MizT, glad Al ate something.

CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following the simple advice heard on the Oprah show, you too can find inner peace.

Dr. Oz proclaimed, 'The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished.'

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Tequila, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now.

MizT and Al, healing vibes winging your way.
Concert was great although Brian Wilson was a 'no show' he seems to have a habbit of this.
Love and Hugs to all of you.

That is a shame but not a surprise about Brian Wilson, Broni. He's a musical genius but has severe mental health problems. I heard them talking about him on the radio this week and they were telling the story of him getting into a cab and the driver asks 'Where to?'. Brian just says 'Nowhere, I just want to read the paper in peace'. He read the paper for an hour, paid the cabbie and got out!!

Theresa - I like that kind of calm - I'll take a look at what I can finish - I know there's some Kahlua, some chocolate biscuits, all the Halloween treats, a nice shiraz and a vodka cruiser. Hmmm! that would make me calm (until the headache in the morning!)

Theresa, I like your recipe for happiness. I don't have prozac or oreos but I do have an open bottle of tequila. I also have a few open bottles of vodka, different flavors.

I think I am going to need a bigger glass.

I have been having a lazy day, only doing a bit of necessary swearing.
MizT, make Al some nutritious ice blocks to suck. The side effects of Chemo are awful but apparently the worse the side effects the better chance of the Chemo working. That was my friends problem. Limited side effects so the chemo did not do its job.

Broni.... I'm not surprised about Brian Wilson being a no show either. He does have serious mental health problems, as well as a few drug problems. I would have been a lot more surprised if he did show up. The poor guy needs help, but has to really want it, first.

I didn't get the trailer cleaned today... it's still hooked up to my truck... so I'll do it tomorrow. I DID get my aquarium cleaned and all the plants watered. I just got a hose specifically designed for indoor plant watering, and it really helped speed up the job.
