Happy Halloween Heidi and everyone

Bed time here, Al is resting comfortably now, I think he may sleep the night. I know he is the one sick but why do I feel like I been hit by a truck?

Nite nite folks. See you on the flip side.

Happy Halloween Everyone!! My mom's birthday is Halloween, she will be 70!!
MizT: Sending loving thoughts to you & Al...The reason why you feel like you've been hit by a truck is because you've been taking care of him and caretakers don't have an easy time of it AT ALL!! Caretakers are a VERY special breed.
Hi Heidi: Happy Halloween to you too!!

Getting tired of the humidity!

Suzanne, I would agree about MizT and our other caretakers (you know who you are) being a special breed.

It does take it out of you, doesn't it MizT? Today was not a particularly easy hook up so I am feeling a little flat too.

The kids were here for lunch today as it was Jed's birthday last Tuesday but he was not feeling up to doing anything that night, and today was the first ok day on everyone's calendar. All went well. We had three courses, Pea and Ham Soup, Roast Pork and a trio of cakes!
They were all a bit tetchy today, so I was not overly displeased when they left. Love them all all of the time, but don't particularly like them sometimes.

Back from Lachlan's party - the kids enjoyed themselves - well, so did the adults really.
MizT/June - I was talking to my son-in-law's sprightly 91yo Grandmother this afternoon. She is having chemo on cancer in her right eye (of all places) - co-incidentally she also said that when she was so ill for 3-4 days after the first chemo her doctor told her that was a good sign that it was working. That woman is a hardy old girl - if it's going to get her, she'll fight it the whole way. A good typical example of a stoic Aussie country woman.

I have had two lots of trick or treaters. I go to the door with a witches hat on. There were nine in the first lot and two in the second. The most we have ever had. Only one packet of wrapped lollies left so may have to get a couple of apples if any more arrive.

Nomnom anecdote: When we get home Nomnom is usually waiting at the front door in pounce position - you know the one, nose to the ground, all tensed up. Today when we opened the door a little lizard ran in with us and popped Nomnom right on the nose!! The lizard ran out and Nomnom chased after him - happy ending though, both safe.

I always have a supply of emergency Chupa Chups in the house, but I doubt we are going to get any tonight, it is cold and bleak out there!

Intermission again tonight. I woke hearing something musical, but could not place it. Got up to make that night time trip, and fore I could get back to sleep, heard it again, and it's location at least. Living room. Then it dawned on me, cell phone low battery warning. So I have to get up again to plug it in. It is a Screech phone, insistent, will not give up till it gets what it wants.

Cell phone is not staying charged very long now, even if not used. It might need a new battery. I cannot complain, phone was given by Al's brother, an old phone of his, and we share his minutes on his plan. I think I know now why he got a newer phone .

I do not have candy in the house. I do not expect any trick or treaters. Have has one group of 2 in the 10 years we lived here, neighbors children, one year, and that is all.

SUZY, thanks for the Nomnom story, I can see it. I wonder who was more surprised, Nomnom or the lizard? I can just see it hapening.

Our kitties do not understand, they are allowed in to eat then invited back outside. Al will not let them in his lap, he is afraid they will hurt one of his incisions. Cats do not understand. Scooter will try all her tricks to get past me to get to him. Casually walk past food dish to look into living room, see him in his recliner. then she will plop down in the floor and proceed to take a bath, most urgently. then fast as lightning, a bee line toward the chair. Al usually sees her just as she is set to spring to the foot of his recliner and tesl her NO, she stops and just looks at him, all confused. she does not know what she has done wrong, Poor kitty. I have tried letting her in and into my lap, where she seems happy till she makes a sudden move, again to be told NO just fore she jumps. I do hope he feels better soon, and I can give him a bed pillow for covering his boo boos and his kitty can resume her napping in his lap. It would do them both good.

Finished my glass of milk, time to get some more sleep. Hugs to all with extras.

Morning everyone! There is little evidence of snow on the ground, but it was snowing when I went to bed last night. We got a new coffee maker yesterday ... I programmed it before I went to bed and when I got up the coffee was ready. I was having trouble programming it last night and wasn't sure I had done it right. Blessed be coffee! Or as my hubby's late grandmother used to say, blessed be nothing for there's no bother to it. She also used to say blessed are those who expect nothing for they shall not be disappointed.

Aren't cats wonderful? Suzy, I wish I had seen that. MizT, poor kitty's routine is upset ... they just don't understand.

I'm off to bed now - we had so many Trick or Treaters this year, we ran out of treats - and I had a huge bowl waiting. We think we had between 30 and 40 and in a small isolated estate like ours that's a lot! They were all nice kids this year - all said thanks and no big kids (teenagers).
When we ran out, we put up a sign saying - 'Ran out of treats, sorry. Come back next year.'

BOOOOO!

Since it is Halloween I figured boo was an appropriate greeting. Hope all is going well in the world. I am enjoying a quiet cup of coffee all by myself. Hubby is playing softball and boys are in Hebrew school. We usually get a lot of kids as we have a lot in the neighborhood. Boys usually go trick or treating and Rachel and I pass out the candy. Rachel has a witches costume that she wears.

My parents are coming over for dinner tonight. Their anniversary was Tuesday so I am cooking today. They want to leave early to go home and pass out candy. They will get about 5 kids all night. I told them no big deal. They should stay here and enjoy their grandsons and not worry about the 4 or 5 kids who may show up.

Cyn, I remember when we lived in a big suburban neighborhood, we ran out of treats once. I had a huge penny jar that I raided, gave a small handfull of pennies to treaters, only a few looked at me strangely hehehe

Al continues to have a rough time, and therefore he gives me a rough time. I think I need to go to the grocery today and then a nice walk in the park.

TAMI, enjoy the dinner with your parents. I hope they opt to stay and enjoy their grandchildren.

Theresa, could you make me some breakfast too, please? You are such a good Mom to care for your daughter and her family, hugs to you.

Gail, I should look up chupa chups, you Aussies have some strange names for treats hehehe.

Lollipops, fruit flavored, found them online. I think you can find most anything online.

I just did a major double take when I looked at my computer clock. It did an auto change last night, when once we would have gone off daylight savings time. One more week now, boy this has sneaked up on me.

Tricia, my bedside clock also does an automatic change. I was ready for it this year. Sprung it forward again and will fall back next week. I hope my mom reads your message and stays a little longer tonight.

When I broke my leg, I had a difficult time explaining to the dogs that they weren't to jump up on the bed with me. After a few screams of agony from me when one did jump up and land on the leg, they became more careful.
Poor Scooter must be having a hard time trying to figure out why she can't give Al love and sympathy. She must realize that he needs them. And, being a cat, she needs them for herself, too.

Morning all,
Quick drop in this morning as I'm off to make coffee again today. It could be interesting as I'm working with the D today and she obviously wasn't happy about it yesterday. Her mother says too bad.

Hugs to the caregivers, hugs to everyone not feeling the best, and hugs to everyone else too!

Trick or treat! Hello. I am surrounded by sick people here. They all have a cold that I refuse to get. Other than that, all is well here. Rainy today, so I hope it lets up for later. I have posted a couple of pictures on my page of what has been keeping me busy. Take care of yourselves and get well wishes for all who are under the weather.

Happy Halloween! I didn't get here yesterday, and will spend the next multiples of hours stationed near the front door. (The doorbell drives our cats crazy.)

Unless I'm later than I think, I just may catch Rena. We've missed you, Girl! I hope all of your sick people are soon well!

My boys are out trick-or-treating and Rachel and I are passing out candy. Sat outside for a while but it started to drizzle so we came in. Boys are allowed to get wet.

Evening all. I just got back from my daughter's place. They had about 20 trick-or-treaters, which is a lot more than usual. This year I didn't overdo it on buying candy, but I should have bought more. Now there are no chocolate bars left for me.

We used to live in a garden home development before we bought this house, and we would get anywhere up to 200 kids at Halloween. We would buy tons of stuff, but every year we ran out.

Off to have a late supper or maybe just a snack. I think tomorrow I might have to raid the grandies' goodies.

Of course Heidi bought the stuff she likes, don't you, Tami?

Theresa, too bad you do not have chocolate bars left over. Perhaps a trip to store tomorrow? Halloween candy might be on half price sale, it usually is here.

No trick or treaters here. I really did not expect any. I did not buy any treats at all. One year we had bought a lot, and we had Halloween candy still in the house at Easter!

My BIL came today and worked on a few of our problems here. The heat problem was the "most interesting" he said, I am glad it was entertaining as it took the longest. He said he enjoyed a challenge. We should stay nicely warm tonight. Sister and I made a trip to get a part he needed to fix my toilet, but allas, it was not a fix, and I did not discover that till after he left, bummer.

Al still not feeling well, just wanting to sleep and not eat or drink. I had a rather rough talk with him, got him to drink a glass of milk. I know he feels bad, but he can be such a stinker.

I know Al's going through chemo, but men can be such babies when they're sick. They think that they're the only ones who've ever been sick, and nobody knows how much they suffer.
