Julie, wonderful news about your nephew, it sounds as if he has a long way to go but fingers crossed that his marine training will give him the strength to overcome what sounds like a horrendous injury to his brain.
Hope Al and MizT had a good night sleep in there own bed and that Al feels happier and gets better soon.
I can't remember who asked if everyone on here had gotten alife as it was so quiet. I for one one had office work to catch up on and also need to be knitting like mad to get xmas gifts done. I still like to read what others have been up to.
Healing thoughts go out to everyone who need them.

Suzy, I agree with the others. Take care of yourself.
Julie, glad your nephew is getting better. I am sure his Marine training will help. Marines are tough.

Juat heard on the news of a mine explosion in New Zealand. 30 miners are unaccounted for. My thoughts and prayers going out to the miners and their families. I hope they are ok and can be rescued.

Thanks for the coffee Theresa. It really hit the spot. Coffee is made, breakfast eaten, time to go wake up the other two boys. Should I bring an ice cube with me???

You are wonderful people, I'm just wondering how to separate taking care of me from wishing I could take care of a part of me - Ebob. She is making so many choices that could hurt her right now and it is agony to be so powerless...

I just heard about the mine explosion but only a headline, no details...

Suzy, please take care of you. You do have a way to go yet.
We had a great night. Presentation night at the Bowling Club. Dinner and we had a "one man band".
He was great playing all the music which suited the mainly 60-80 year olds. We even did the 'Barn Dance' and 'Pride of Erin' among other old time dances we had not done for many many years. All great fun and I should sleep well tonight!

The girls are off to school! Time for breakfast before I head over to my daughter's again to do some chores.

Cyn, I already got a response from our Member of Parliament (federal) saying it's a provincial matter. And so we begin .....

I just got an email from our Member of Provincial Parliament. I'll start by saying his party is not the one in power, so his email agrees with mine and he says it is shameful. He wants me to call his office and discuss details, so I will have to check with my daughter to see if she is willing to carry this further. I hope so. I didn't mention to her until this morning that I had written to them, but she was fine with it. I know she is napping now, so I won't disturb her.

Theresa.... He still should be able to get some results. It's good to have someone on your side for a change. Have you talked to Canuk Greg about this? He might have some connections yet, too.

The cow and calf silhouettes are up and look wonderful! I'll take photos over the weekend of it and the new patio & sidewalk. We also got the posts in place for the new fence (a complete replacement of the one the cows kept going through), then next week we'll set them in concrete, then tack on the cattle panels instead of hot wire. It will be cow proof.

Theresa, I'm so glad the local politician is interested in helping. He'll want to get results to help his chances of being elected next time around. And his opponent won't dare oppose him on this because it would make him look bad. Good luck to you both!!

Heidi, was Canuck Greg in a position of authority in the government at one time? I have chatted with him now and then, mostly at our respective birthdays, but that's about it.

Off to get the girls soon, but first to scoop the litter boxes at my daughter's place. Yahoo!!!

Had to make a trip to our dungeon (basement) earlier as a thingie had been tripped. I had trouble finding it. Computer, kitchen and dining room were not functional. Finally found it ... can't function without a computer.

Good morning all!
Suzy - please take care of yourself. I, too, am not surprised that the relationship with Three didn't last but you stop worrying. It is difficult but you must put yourself first for the moment while you recover, remembering that your ill-health is probably a direct result of this other problem. That said - I also know that being a mother, it is impossible to turn off.
Big hugs, honey, we all care!!

Hi all.
Theresa, I am glad someone in the government wants to help. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you and your daughter.
Suzy, Ebob's problems can be fixed. Make sure you take care of yourself and be there for her if she asks for help, but don't offer it.
I hope to be back later after Dylan's game.

Theresa - I'm pleased to hear that you got a positive response from one level of Government. Even in opposition, they can wield a bit of power, because, from my experience, their next move is to pass it on to the appropriate Minister (is that what you call them over there?) in charge - in this case Health(?). What you need is for him to be caring enough to follow through, and if you don't hear anything, phone and ask how the enquiry is progressing. It is your right as a citizen to expect that help!!

Hi all, I'm working on flinging food.

Yes Cyn, they are called Ministers here in our government. I believe our government system and yours are probably similar, both of us having been Commonwealth countries. I will get details from my daughter this weekend (dates of original problem, dates to see doctors and surgeons, MRI, etc.) Then Monday I will get back to the MPP's local constituency office.

I think that next week I will go to our local Salvation Army and see about volunteering. From 1986 to 1990 I volunteered with them, but then I had other obligations and had to stop. I am unable to find a job, but then I'm not looking terribly hard because my daughter is my number one priority right now. But I miss being with other people, or I should say other adults, so hopefully I can work out a schedule with them where I can still help at home as much as possible. I need to get out of the house!!!!

I did my good deed for the day. While Robert and I were working today, his phone rang. It was his sister asking if I had any downed trees they could cut up. She and her husband supply firewood to their elderly neighbors who cannot cut wood any more. They heat their house with firewood. I have a large supply of really good cured firewood, already split and stacked in a barn. I offered them the lot, free of charge. They'll be picking it up on Sunday.

I'm glad I could do something to help those old folks. I know the area they live in, and it's pretty poor. There's no way that that couple could afford to upgrade their heating system, or pay the increased electric bill or gas bill. This supply of wood should get them through a few months.

Greetings friends, I have read this page and Brenda's post last page, but not much time to comment. forgive please.

Suzy, take care of you, no one else can do as good a job of that as you.

Theresa, I do hope you can get results for your daughter with your inquiry to the politician. Good Luck!

Boy, it is work with the care and feeding of one recovering husband. Each antibiotic injection takes about 20-30 minutes, and each time we put fluids in his feeding tube another 30 minutes. Eats up my day. He is just not able to swallow the liquids without getting choked on them. Feeding him lots of soup, puddings, jello. Ice cream and yogurt, those go down easy and are liquids.

That getting up at 6 am every morning for his antibiotics is the pits. But he is improving so, today he has been out in his office, and walking about the yard, to get his strength back. He is not complaining or dragging his feet about medication time or dressing changes and such. His wound from the old feeding tube removal has almost closed up. I will be able to get the skin clear again once it no longer leaks.

Timer calling me to fling food is going off. I best get in there. wish I had more time to stay with my friends. Hugs with extras.

It sounds like Al is making great progress, MizT. You do good work. Think of the time you spend on the injections and feeding tube to be the time you used to use traveling to and fro from the hospital.

Heidi, what a lovely, thoughtful thing to do. It sounds like Robert's sister and her husband are special people too as they were willing to do all of the cuttiing and splitting if it wasn't already done.

MizT, things are sounding good over your way but I hope you are getting enough rest.

I'm going to let them cut up some wood here once the already cut and split wood is used up. I can't think of a better cause.
I try to put myself in others shoes, and treat them the way I'd like to be treated in their circumstances. I can only do this when IH is not home. He throws a fit and claims that other peoples problems are none of my business. He has no say in this firewood, but I hate having fights.
