Mornign all,
Tami, congrats to the boys on their wins! Great jobs!

MizT, it's wonderful that Al is home and very scary that the pharmacy got the dose wrong...

Theresa, knowing that your daughter will have weeks of recovery even after she has the op, I hope it happens sooner rather than later. Perhaps if the docs had to do home visits and see what their patients are going through.

June, it's cool here this morning, lovely! I hope it's cooler in Sydney too.

Hi all.
It was nice to read some good news here,we just need a few more people to join those on the road to recovery.
Looks like it is going to rain again here which saves me from watering the garden.Greg has mowed and it looks like a park...so green.
First week of prac almost over.
We enjoyed having son & boys for tea last night but as usual ate too much. What is new.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Robert and I got the 2 bulls worked. They had gotten a lot of burrs stuck to their sheaths, and were unable to do much breeding. I sorted them out of the herd myself before Robert arrived, then we put them in the smaller working pen in the horse barn. Rede didn't want to go in the chute, so I put a halter on him and lead him in. Yahtzee went in on his own. They're both a lot comfier now.

I still have to get the 7 month old bull calf up and worked. I don't think I'll do it for a couple of weeks yet. At that point, I have to move him to the horse barn, so I'll clean him up then.

Now I need to run to the store for dog food. I forgot it yesterday.

Good morning all.
MizT - great news that Al is home. I'm sure,
after a bit of practice, that you'll be doing all that is necessary for him without a worry.
Theresa - I like Heidi's idea of pain management. Your daughter shouldn't have to be in pain like that. Big hugs to you all, you shouldn't have to be dealing with this, she should be at the top of the list.
Here in Australia, if it was me, I would be tempted to go to the media - talkback radio or TV Current Affairs shows - most of these programs have their own political agenda, which I don't like, but they know whose buttons to press to get action! They'd get their teeth into it - 'young mother, crippled with pain, heartless authorities making her wait, no communication' etc etc - within a few days, she'd be operated on and by the best surgeons because they couldn't afford for anything to go wrong and the media find out!!

Cancel that last idea about the media - talkback radio is fine, you're just a name and anything further would be done off air but TV current affairs are invasive and sensationalist - the whole world would know your name, where you live, what you look like etc. They'd almost want to film the operation!!

I'm back and the dogs are happy. I got them a duck squeaky toy at the store while getting some dog food. I also got the paint I needed for the cow & calf silhouettes for the side of the hay barn. I can paint them tonight and install them tomorrow. THEN I will take a picture of the hay barn.

Cyn, I actually wrote quite a nasty email today to our Member of Parliament and Member of Provincial Parliament about our health care system. I doubt that it will do any good, but I just had to get it off my chest. I ended it with Shame, shame, shame.

Heidi, can't wait to see the pictures.

I forgot to tell everyone that I have more baby finches hatching out. These are from experienced parents. They'll get banded.

Heidi, when you say banded, what is the purpose behind that? Is it to register them? I know what banding is. Sorry, I really don't know anything about raising feathery friends.

When they're about 9 days old, I can put a special band on them that's registered with the National Finch and Softbill Society. It has a one-of-a-kind number on it, and is labelled and color coded for the year. I then record the number in my record book with parents numbers. I can then tell which bird is which. The babies born to the 10 month old parents weren't banded because I didn't want to disturb them. I have some colored bands I can put on them at any age, and I'll use those for them.

Our temps are going down to -7C tonight. Ouch, I'm just not ready for that.

Just a snippet on the news tonight that I didn't need to hear:

Electricity users in Ontario will get a 10 per cent rebate on their bills starting in January to help offset an expected 46 per cent jump in hydro rates over the next five years as the province goes green, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan said Thursday.

The 10% rebate BTW is probably just an election ploy. Our hydro bills right now are humongous and we are very careful about our usage.

The cow & calf silhouettes are painted and look fantastic! I realized that brown primer is just the color I wanted, so I used that. They'll look great on the light grey barn, on either side of the green lettering saying "Surreal Farm".

Hi all. Just a quick hello as it is past my bedtime. Mitchell had a game tonight, but lost. His team got a second place medal. I don't even remember the final score, the other team was much better.
Glad to hear all is going well and I will be back in the morning.

Theresa - that's what your Members of Parliament are there for - to work for the people. However I have found that any complaint I have made to them (with one exception) was acknowledged and 'would be handed on the the person responsible' and nothing further happened!!

Good Evening, Everyone! Though it's late (nearly midnight), I'm determined to get through posts. The next several days are looking mighty busy, and I'm not sure I'll be able to visit here.

First of all, I'll share updates about my nephew!
Here are my sister's comments from last night and today:

"WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2010 9:28 PM, CST
Okay, APHASIA is a result of "Traumatic Brain Injury"-TBI, in R's case, due to his car accident. A person with aphasia may have trouble with one or more of these: speaking, writing, understanding speech and reading. With speaking or writing, it is called expressive aphasia and with understanding speech or reading, it is called receptive aphasia. Some people may have both. R's life involves a lot of all four. It's probably going to be extra tough, but he'll make it!!

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2010 9:12 AM, CST
R had a good night. Andy (the night nurse) told me that R read the two cards he received yesterday to him. Wonderful!

PT was in today, evaluated R and felt that he would need 20% physical, 30% occupational, and 50% speech therapy. His goals for today include more sitting up, walking. They plan to remove the drains from the surgical site and take him off the IV if he keeps drinking fluids."

Thanks again for all of your prayers and positive thoughts!

Hi to Broni, CynB, Theresa, Tami, Heidi, MizTricia, Brenda, Suzanne, June, Suzy, Nola, Gail and Rolanda!

Cyn, it's understandable that you would be happy that your S's divorce is final! How could your ex-DIL NOT like you? Where is her taste and good sense? Your hubby certainly had a long work day! Hope dinner went well!

Heidi, what wonderful news that you slept better! I hope the same will be true tonight!

MizT, we are thrilled that you and Al are home! I hope the visiting nurse came early this morning so you could get some more sleep! Good for you for catching the wrong dose! Hopefully it was less than he was supposed to receive and not more, which would have been more serious unnoticed! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Suzanne, continued prayers for George's mom & Debbie's dad! I hope you and Darrell enjoy your time away!

June, how nice that you got to go to your sister's for dinner! Not so great news about a poor night of sleep, though! Hope you're able to get a good night's sleep with pleasant dreams tonight!

Suzy, I hope all is going well with your recovery and you're more comfortable about being at home!

Nola, good for you - a week of prac under your belt! (Or should we say "under your shoes" since you're on your feet a lot?)

Cyn, I'm another city girl who had never considered that problem!

Theresa, it's too bad your small town isn't nearer a big town so your D could get to a pain management clinic more easily! {{{{HUGS}}}} to her and to you!

Heidi, so glad the dogs have their food and a new toy! Can't wait to see the pictures of the new hay barn with the painted cut-outs! Congrats on the new baby finches!

Theresa and Heidi, our temps are dropping here as well! We're now wearing sweatshirts around the house (hood up on hubby's).

Rolanda, WOW are those unusually high temps for now - not yet summer there?

Nearing 1 a.m. here now, so I REALLY must head to bed. Good Night, Everyone!

Evening all,
I think I have news that fits on a good news page - Ebob and Three have broken up. The bad news is that she isn't planning on moving home at the moment. Unless you think of the stress her moving home will cause since she is apparently still skipping school etc.

I'm not sure how I'm going, my friends say it's a little bit like I'm not all there when I'm talking to them, and not happy. Coffee with friends today perked me up a little, but I found an excuse to leave early... the above news is a little stressful since we don't know what is happening with her. Hubby is making phone calls trying to reach her though.

Suzy, I know that what I am going to say is nearly impossible but, give yourself more time to recuperate from your stroke. These things don't put themselves right instantly. Try not to stress about Ebob, think more about YOU. As you know my friend had a stroke a couple of years back so I know what your friends mean when they say you are not you yet.
