Julie, thinking of you, your nephew and his family. It sounds like the doctor's know what ehy are doing

Tami, still thinking of you too

Thinking a lot about myself too, I have another 3 weeks at least until I get to see the specialist again but was told today that I blew something inside my brain when I had the stroke. it's very scary and I don't understand why, if if was so bad, I have no symptoms now....

Gail, I am glad you said that.
Suzy, what do they mean that "you blew something in your brain?" Keep taking care of yourself and remember we care about you and want you well.

Don't know if I will get back tonight. I get home about 4:45. Dylan has a baseball game at 5:30 and Mitchell at 7:30. I need to come home, get a cooler packed (it is our turn to bring snack for Dylan's team), make dinner(chicken already cooked just need to make and pack sandwiches) and get them both to the field. Dylan's coach wants him there by 5 for warm up. That ain't going to happen. I will be lucky to get them there at 5:15. Won't get home until about 9:30

Suzy, blew something in your brain? What does that mean? You are so in my thoughts.

Tami, I too am glad that those days are over (sort of). Plus we only had the one child.

Off to look after the grandies. That's what I meant by "sort of". Have a good day all.

Suzy, well done on losing that Kg. I probably found it :-(
Make sure you ask your Dr what sort of excercises you need to do, if you have some small weakness then you may have to do something to help. Sleep helps too though.

Placement had been much more interesting now that I am doing the work with a buddy. There is about 40 residents that we do medications, dressings and documentation for, so very busy but in a different way from the personal care work. The amount of walking is similar but physically it is easier on the body.Thank goodness.
Son is coming for tea tomorrow night and I will be glad to see the boys for the 1st time in weeks.

Suzanne, Prayers for your friends and their families. Hope they all soon get better.
Julie,Prayers for your nephew. May he keep fighting until he is fully recovered.
It is a worry that they took so long to realise there was a problem with Al's tube. Hope it is all sorted out now. Thanks for passing on the updates Heidi.

My daughter's oldest cat, KitKat (approx 18 years old) has an appointment at the vet at 3:00 this afternoon. Let's just say his time has come. For the last five months or so I have been the one giving him his thyroid medication twice a day, so needless to say I've gotten attached to him. He has lost a lot of weight and gotten very lethargic just in the last day or so. My daughter asked my advice this morning and I said I thought it was time. Poor KitKat. I didn't give him his medicine this morning - I told my daughter I didn't want to put him through that now. So even though he's not my cat and he lives next door, why am I sitting at the computer blubbering like a baby?

I had a busy day yesterday as I took Laura into the city to see the animated shop windows. David Jones for the Aussies. This year they are different Christmas carols. And somewhere in every one there is at least one little mouse. I was very tired by the time we also walked through a few places looking at the Christmas decorations.

Yesterday I parked the car next to the railway station and at the shopping centre. I had heard that apricots were coming into season so I told Laura I would get her some. When we got to the shop , yes, they had new season apricots but what a price. I had promised but told Laura she could only have ONE! (and it cost me $2.20!) We did find a couple more on my old tree when we got home.

June that was one expensive apricot, I hope Laura enjoyed it.
Theresa ((HUGS)) the cat may not be yours but you have been dealing with it for a while and as you say have gotten attached to it, so you are entitled to be upset.
Healing thoughts going out to all who need and want them.

Good Morning, fellow Sudokuaholics! I still haven't had a chance to read, but just wanted to post my sister's latest entry on Caring Bridge about my nephew!
He was OUT of bed and WALKING!!! With lots of help, he walked from his room down SIX rooms and back! Now, he's sitting up in a recliner. The nurses want to get him walking maybe every couple of hours. There's a chance that they'll take out his surgical drains and re-bandage him tomorrow, I think. If all goes well, they hope to move him out of NICU then also.

Thank you all for your prayers and support! You're all amazing!

Theresa.... an extra {{{HUG}}} to you. I consider beloved pets to be family members, and it's so hard to face having them euthanized. But it does sound like it's time. I know how much you love animals, and you will do the right thing for KitKat.

Tami... an extra {{{HUG}}} to you, too. Rachel had a wonderful life with you, and was a member of your family. The house must seem so quiet without her. Dogs give you unconditional love, and having that gone from your life can be a shock.

June, sounds like a fun but tiring day with Laura. And what a price for one apricot.

Brenda, it should be a national holiday, shouldn't it? Those who can't be in the area of the wedding will certainly be watching it on TV. That will be an amazing spectacle. I am sure that many Canadians will be watching.

Julie, great news about your nephew.

I had a bit of a nap this morning. My daughter has been more sore lately and has been calling me more often (i.e. to let the dog in and out, etc.) Last night she had a migraine and if her medication hadn't kicked in when it did, she wanted to go to the hospital. Of course the grandies had to be super noisy and whiny!

This Sunday we're going back to the "outlaws" for a pot luck dinner for my MIL's birthday. I am bringing dessert (cake), veggies and snacks. My MIL said she would make the cake and I said no, not for her own birthday!

Well, off to get some ffuts done. But I'm sitting here watching one of my cats chasing his tail. They can be so funny at times.

KitKat is on his way to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Heidi, KitKat doesn't live with us, he lives with my daughter, but for the last half a year or so I go over twice a day to give him his medication. He has lived a good long time ... I gave him a kiss and nuzzle and then left because tears were coming again. I'm such a softie.

Someone once asked me, "Why do you take so many cats in when it hurts so much when you have to let them go?" I figure even if I had a stray for a week, in that week they've probably had the best time of their life. Yes, it's hard on me, but I know at least we are giving abandoned cats and rescues a chance. I just wish I could take them all in.

It is soon time to pick up the grandies at the bus. They know KitKat is going to the vet today, but they don't really know why. They will be told when they get home (I think I'll leave that up to their parents). They did get a new kitten about a week ago, so that should help alleviate some of their tears. The new kitten is a fireball and he is fun to watch. They have laminate floors and he slides all across the living room when he's chasing something, and then crashes into the wall.

So I should be back later. Good thoughts to all who need them!

I've got my methadone in me now, and hope to feel better soon. IH has messed up my health insurance so badly that I cannot get the insurance to pay for the meds. They keep claiming that I'm not insured, and IH keeps telling me that the premiums are paid. SO frustrating. Health insurance is the only thing that IH says he's responsible for, so I'm stubbornly not paying it myself.

I feel for hubby this morning. He is a hayfever sufferer, though it hasn't been too bad in recent years due to the drought, but this year, with the massive rains we have had, the seeds and pollens are having a field day! We did more work out i the garden yesterday, and while it was bad, he was coping. I had to mow a small section, but hubby stayed right away.
Woke up in the middle of the night to him having a massive sneezing attack, so much so that he got up to take a tablet and to sit up a while. This morning when I asked him how he was, he said he had been alright since having the tablet and a shower...at 2am! He meant to have one before he came to bed, he wont forget again!
BTW Poor son suffers even worse than hubby :(

Wonderful news Julie. Your nephew is certainly a fighter!
Hugs Theresa. I also have spilt many tears over my pets.
Suzy, the tree at QVB is spectacular but you cannot see the whole tree. It is over 4 stories high and just fits through the 'hole' above the ground floor. The trunk is just covered in Swarovski crystals, with crystals drops as decoration.

A new update from MizTricia's sister....

AL IS GOING HOME!!!!!
Yep, Today!!! They got the pic line in for his IV antibiotics. Walgreen's will be delivering the meds to them today. A home health nurse will visit tomorrow to show Tricia how to administer the IV antibiotics and another next week to change the dressing on his feeding tube. Al says the new feeding tube doesn't hurt much at all & even the place where the old one was isn't hurting as much as it was. He'll be on IV antibiotics for 2 weeks, and will then start gack on chemo. Hopefully everything will go smoothly for him during the rest of his treatments. Goodness knows, he's had enough trouble to last a lifetime.
