Suzy, Mitchell is going to be 14 next week. I can only pray that the high school years don't bring as much turmoil. Some kids need to learn the hard way. I hope that Ebob comes around eventually. Just so you know, I think about you and her a lot and keep hoping for the best.

Thanks Tami, I'll take a cup. I slept an hour later than usual - guess I needed it, especially for the shopping trip today.
I have caught up on all the posts, but do you think I can remember them? This poor old brain.

It is COLD here today, far below our norm for December or any time of the year actually. I have the sloshy thing going, and hope it warms enough to hang them out. At the moment the clothes would freeze.
Daughter from California arrived in birmingham last night. she phoned me from airport, and almost paniced when she could not reach me at home. Phoned my sister, who called my cell to see where we were. This AFTER I told her we were going to run errands. " but they are usually home by dark" hehehe. Did not know I had a curfew. She is staying with friends this week, might pop over for a visit if Al is doing OK, so I did not think our presence at home was necessary. She has my cell phone number, but evidently had not put it in her phone as a verbal command. We were having a nice fish dinner fore we came home.
I have read, and remember only a bit, sorry. Hope to come back and make comments later, the sloshy thing calls. Hugs to all and extras. Special hugs to June's friend after her chemo.

Suzy.... I'm happy that your brother failed the stress test. It means that the doctors now have proof that something IS wrong, and won't just dismiss him now.
Also, I've heard that the honey, cider vinegar (equal amounts of each) and hot water does the trick with the sore throat. It's always worked for me. I think the cayenne pepper is unnecessary torture.

I have popped in a couple of times today, but nothing new, so just popped right back out, Heidi. It is a quite day today here, hubby has slept most of it. One of his nausea meds makes him sleepy and he said he did not have anything else to do on a cold grey day today.
I can always find something I have to do, though. I removed all his short sleeved shirts to the spare closet today, and have washed all his flannel shirts. Man has too many shirts! Most were given to him by a friend and his SIL both cleaning out closets of all they could not wear. Nice not to worry about having to hsaw shirts fore he runs out though.
What is for dinner tonight? We are having spicy breaded chicken patties in gravy, broccoli and mashed potatoes. All but the potatoes are cooked already. I need to do him something for his sweets.

I'm back and I'm exhausted. The Christmas shopping is almost done except for a few stocking stuffers. Needless to say my back and hips are stiff and aching from walking on so many concrete floors. I will need to apply the hot water bottle before bed.
Off to do my evening chores before I fall asleep at the computer. TTFN.

Good Evening, Everyone!
Hi, Suzy, Gail, Tami, Theresa, MizTricia and Heidi!
Suzy, I hope Ally's throat is better after using the spicy concoction! Fingers crossed that it works! It was probably better for her that she didn't sing at the rehearsal with all the singing she has in the next couple of days. Remind her to let the microphone amplify her voice (if she uses one), rather than trying to force more physically. (That's from one of her cyber aunties.)
RIP, John Lennon! Where have the 30 years gone?
Tami, I hope Mitchell makes his decision with plenty of time to spare! Is Dylan thinking he wants to follow in Mitchell's footsteps next year? (Good planning on your part to try to avoid a return trip to the program next year!)
Suzy, I don't think all of the doors have been closed on Ebob. She may yet get her head on right and get back on track for all she's capable of! Crossing fingers and toes! Thinking of your brother and sending positive thoughts and prayers that all will be alright! {{{{HUGS}}}}
MizT, doesn't it make you feel good when a grown child "panics" just a bit when they can't reach us! It's just a little bit of pay-back for what we went through as parents. I'm glad she found you and was reassured that all was well! I hope it warmed up enough for you to hang the items from the wet sloshy thing outside.
Suzy, it's worth having Ally try Heidi's recipe for her throat. I'm thinking the cayenne pepper in the other recipe might be uncomfortable and/or hot.
Heidi, I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better today. No doubt, the dogs are too, so you can stock up on dog food! BTW, how nice to be able to look forward to freshly slaughtered beef from a known and healthy source!
MizT, you've been mighty busy today going through all of Al's shirts. Hopefully you won't need to wash shirts every few days! Dinner sounds yummy!
Theresa, so glad you're home safely and with lots of presents to show for it. Hopefully the grandies will get to bed quickly so you can enjoy the hot water bottle(s)! Do you use a cane when you know you'll have a lot of walking? Take care of yourself!
{{{{HUGS}}}} positive thoughts and prayers to each one of you!

Hi everyone.
and hugs to all in need.
Suzy, I hope Ally's throat improves.
Get Well Heidi, I hope you get lots of helpers with the Lions Club BBQ on the weekend. Remember to ask for help too.
MizT, I hope Al is feeling better soon and you get as much rest as you need. Enjoy your visit from your daughter.
Theresa, enjoy the time with your hubby. I'm sure he'll love to help share the child minding chores with you.
I did a load of swearing this morning and hope it doesn't rain all over my sheets and towels. I don't thnk it rained at my house yesterday. I'm not so sure today.
Reggie (the dog) is improving since his visit to the vet. The cut on his neck has scabbed over and he doesn't flinch when I put the ointment on. This morning he didn't even pull away when I put the ointment in his ears so they must be improving as well. He loves getting the tablets as I wrap them in a piece of ham.

Good night Tami, sleep well.
School finishes for the year tomorrow. Most of the private schools and some of the high school students have finished already. The peak hour traffic will drop off next week but it will be bedlam in the shopping centres.

This is not a BBQ. It's a fancy indoor banquet for 60+ people. I'm just doing the meat. Others are responsible for vegetables, deserts and drinks. I don't delegate well, and will be happier doing it myself. I know what I'll be doing, I have everything except the marinade for the lamb, and prep time should be only 20 minutes or so. I'll just have to monitor the cooking to keep everything from getting overdone.

Vicki, I hope Al gets better soon, too. He is very grouchy today. I keep reminding myself that he does not feel good, but I also keep reminding him there is no need to be so impatient with me. He did sleep most of the day, so that did limit the amount of time he had to be impatient today
Now to get him to drink something before bedtime, can't have him getting dehydrated. It is a challenge.
Our neighbor of the Thanksgiving dinner fame sent her grandson over with a lemon pie tonight, and, it was before I made anything for desert. Just what I needed today and will last several days. I got tickled at her other day, I had her dishes in a sack, knocked on her door, and when she saw me standing there sack in hand, she said" I am not taking anything from you" but she did, once she realized it was empty dishes hehehe.

MizT, your neighbour is a wonderful woman. I'm sure she gets blessed every time she blesses you. I'm sorry to hear Al is being grumpy. It's only because he is so unwell - I'm sure he isn't normally like that.
Heidi, Sounds like the banquet will be wonderful. I'm glad your preparation isn't too hard then.
Gail, I'm hoping the flooding in Victoria isn't too bad around all our sudoku families. The front that is bringing all the flooding is heading our way and due here on the weekend.
Has anyone heard from Viv recently?

MizT, thanks for the machine offer, watch out for me at your back door! I love your neighbour!! Maybe you will be able to return the favour with some of the things you grow next spring/summer..
Vicki, we have another week of school to go here. I abadoned the idea of doing my grocery shopping today, the cars were bumper to bumper circling the parking lots looking for spaces... I refilled my prescriptions, had lunch with hubby and went home.

I saw my specialist today. The stroke was inside my brain in the area where connections are made. Hubby asked if that was why I don't look him in the eye when we're talking and look like I'm searching for words. He says he thinks I might also have a mild case of initiation problems. People with a severe case have been known to spend all day sitting in a chair, not able to initiate things.
He also told me to expect short relapses while I'm recovering. I think I had one this afternoon. I came home and decided to come here to tell you about my appointment, but went for a nanna nap instead...

I do my major christmas food shopping at the coast when they are open all night. I've been known to go shopping at 10-11pm when it is fairly quiet. The only problem is getting everything unpacked when you get home.
Last year I went at 7am as we shop over the border in Tweed and they are on daylight saving.

Suzy, will the connection problems right themselves or will you have to work at correcting them?
Nanna naps are very important. I think you made the right decision. Your body was telling you what it needed.
Actually my body is telling me it wants to be home having a nanna nap. Oh well, it's my last day at work this week and only next week left before holidays.

Vicki, the connections may improve by rewiring, but it's not a sure thing. If I keep exercising my brain it might work out better, but again there is conflicting evidence. A part of my brain is actually dead so it has to learn to use different parts. I'm thinking about tryng the shops again when I pick up hubby from work. He can help me then too, I'll catch the people shopping on their way home from work, but it has to be better than it was during the day!!

Good afternoon all.
Suzy - going to have a Nanna nap instead of coming onto SA could also have just meant that you were tired. I don't say it often enough but i think about you lots and hope that all in your life improves greatly and soon. Big hugs!!
Vicki - glad Reggie is improving! One of the reasons I stopped by just now was that it occurred to me that we haven't seen Viv for a while. I've sent her an email. Hope she's OK!

I had to smile about the difficulties of parking in Shopping Centres at this time fo the year. Yesterday we had mother/daughter day and Karin wanted to go to a large centre near us (Hyperdome, Vicki). I told her that if that was the case we'll take her car (she usually expects me to drive). So we did. It only has a very small undercover area - we drove in there and sailed into a just vacated spot nearly at the entrance. That's the way her luck works!!!
