And Ken won a half ham from the bowling club but we cannot pick it up till Wednesday. As we will not be eating Christmas lunch here we will be using it in many different ways.

I guess Thursday we will brave the grocery stores to get the supplies in for Christmas. Christmas Eve I make supper - my daughter's favourite - honey garlic ribs and dream pie for dessert. Christmas morning I make breakfast - eggs and sausages on English muffins.

Ah, the quiet after the storm - had our usual Monday night dinner with Andrew and all 3 of his girls - it just seemed noisier than ever tonight as the older 2 sang every song they know to us. He and those 2 have gone home - Colin and Chloe are both asleep and I don't even have a TV or music on - just peace!
BTW - Emily's comment on her father's new girlfriend - "Can I call Lisa, Mum?' What does that tell you?? Hayley's happy about it. Chloe was a bit taken aback until we reminded her that Mum has a boyfriend and has had for months.

Cyn.. It sounds like Emily is not only open minded about the girlfriend, but is excited about her. Just because she has no children of her own doesn't mean she can't be a loving mother to the girls.

Theresa, we have done your Chinese gifting thing, but call it another name. Here it is known by Dirty Santa or Takeaway. It can be fun if people will take gifts, kind of a dud if they are afraid of hurting feelings or something.

JUNE, congrats on getting so many chores done by son, that is a nice present. Sorry your family left earlier than you thought, but know you will look forward to seeing them first of the year.

Joy has safely arrived home in Florida. She e-mailed at 3:30 am that she was home safely. We did enjoy her being here with us, it brightened her Dad's holiday for sure.

Coffee is ready, I have plenty to share, come have a cup with me.

I need to do some stuff today, hope I get my list done before I have to make a food run.

Hugs to all and catch you later,

OK... all the horses are in their stalls, and have new halters on. The horse shoer should be here any time. She said between 9 and 10, and it's 9:35 right now.

Good morning all.
Tricia, I don't mind answering your question. Christmas day depends on what we feel like doing. We sometimes go to a friends house and share the day with them. My favorite is driving to the beach, taking a walk, and calling my friends who live where it is snowing. For dinner we usually get Chinese takeout. It is considered the traditional Jewish Christmas dinner. (bit of a joke) Chinese is usually the only restaurants open on Christmas.

Tami.... I'm not a christian, and don't celebrate the religious holiday. I celebrate the original holiday.... a pagan one-last-bash-before-the -winter-sets-in. Jesus was NOT born on Dec. 25th anyway. He was born in the Spring. The Christians, whenever they try to convert a group to christianity, always take the groups own holidays and turn them into christian ones.

I'm not very happy, the simple fix for the leak in the bathroom has turned into a major problem. The leak is on the tap which of course means that the bath has to come out Hopefully it will all be sorted by tomorrow.

Heidi and Brenda, I agree with both of you. Even thought I don't celebrate the religious part of the holiday, I do enjoy everyone getting along and wishing each other the best. The spirit of the season should last all year.

10 PIECES OF ADVICE TO BE PASSED ON TO YOUR MOM, YOUR DAUGHTERS OR GRANDDAUGHTERS, NIECES, AUNTS, GIRLFRIENDS, ETC.

1. Don't imagine you can change a man - unless he's in diapers.

2. What do you do if your boyfriend walks out? You shut the door.

3. If they put a man on the moon - they should be able to put them all up there.

4. Go for the younger man. You might as well, they never mature anyway.

5. Men are all the same - they just have different faces, so we can tell them apart.

6. Best way to get a man to do something is to suggest he is too old for it.

7. Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye-opener.

8. The children of Israel wandered around the desert for 40 years.

Even in Biblical times, men wouldn't ask for directions.

9. If he asks what sort of books you're interested in, tell him checkbooks.

10. Remember, a sense of humor does not mean that you tell him jokes, it means that you laugh at his.

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.
Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.
When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.
Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.
Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.
Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.
The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Not a lot of people know this.

Good morning all.
Heidi/Brenda - I agree with you about Christmas. I am not religious although I have my own basic beliefs, based on trying to be a decent human being. I love Christmas because to me it's about family and friends. I have enjoyed having Grandchildren and watching their excitement, remembering my own when I was a child. I also feel that people are happier and friendlier in the lead up to Christmas, despite how busy it is.

Morning all,
Mum is here. No lectures so far, just a little comment or two when her friend was here about me not walking -and something else I can't remember. I just said yeah, I have blisters on my feet from not walking and the equivalent with the other one.

She is happy because I look better than she expected. I think she was convinced that I was leaning to the left and wouldn't believe otherwise until she saw me for herself. Do we never stop worrying about our children??

Christmas is about family and friends for me too. I think it reminds us to show them how much we care just in case we forget during the year. It's also a good time of year to motivate people to patch up any differences...

And while I remember, I hope every one of you has a wonderful christmas, that includes you Tami, because walking on the beach and chinese take out sounds great, and my wish for all of us is that 2011 brngs us everything we have been hoping for in 2010!!

June and MizT, I'm so glad you have enjoyed the visits with your families and wish they could have been longer!

Cyn, wish mine would sing for people, but she'll only sing for a room full of strangers...

Brenda, didn't you get a bathroom renovated? Or was that a kitchen and my memory is messed up? I hope it is fixed soon with the minimum amount of financial damage and inconvenience.

Theresa, I went to a Xmas decoration party like that when I lived in CA. There was some sort of game to work out who got to choose a gift first, and when you were chosen you could 'steal' instead. A decoration could be stolen a maximum of 3 times and then the last thief got to keep it. It was loads of fun.

Heidi, sorry the farrier let you down, I hope he comes when he says he will next time!

Keep up the good (bad???) work, Tami.

Guess what - I finished the wrapping!

I too think family is most important at Christmas. I would not miss the presents, but I would miss dinner at hubby's parents. This could very well be their last Christmas as they are not very mobile and looking more fragile each time I see them. They have always treated me like their daughter, almost from day one.

Yesterday, I had dropped mum off at home after her eye Appt.. I slipped/tripped/stumbled... over the kerb at Mums, ended up sitting on the wet bitumen in the rain.
I am ok, just a bit bruised, stiff and sore.. Lucky I didn't twisted or broke either of my ankles, or wrist.
Saturday just gone, stood on a bee with my bare feet, whilst hanging out the washing.

Mum's appt with the Br Clinic last week.. She had some concerns, they took scans, biopsys etc.. all is good, no cancer detected. and she does not have to go back there.
Her eye appt.. her right eye is coming good (Cataracts removed 6 weeks ago)
and the left eye (Cataracts removed 2 weeks ago) coming along nicely.
Her next appt with the eye man is early January 2011.

Good Evening, Fellow Sudokuaholics! I apologize for my absence of late. We are having internet difficulties. it is driving me crazy not being able to keep up with all of my wonderful friends. I will get here as I can, but make no promises. I don't know if it's the crazy weather or our crazy internet provider. Whatever it is, it is most frustrating!

I hope you are all well and calmly preparing for the holidays. Tami, I bet you're glad that your holidays have already passed and you can now (hopefully) relax!

OK, have not accomplished a quick read of page 474 - but with a bit of flickering, so I'm not sure how much time I have left.

Whoever reaches Viv, please let her know that we are all thinking of her!

So glad to hear about the Christmas trees being put up and decorated, Rolanda and Heidi (I think)!

No Christmas tree at our house this year. Just no time, as we haven't yet finished shopping , haven't begun wrapping, haven't started cards. Oh, well! We do what we can, then hope everyone accepts us as we are!

Suzy, at least the Carols in the Park were done in the church and with a good turn-out!

June, life sounds busy as usual!

Same for Theresa, who has a lot done and now making cookies.

Heidi, be careful! Certainly kind of scary, but so glad you have the dogs!

Rolanda, hope your Mum's eye dr. appointment went well!

Cyn, hope all goes well with your son and his new/old girlfriend!

MizT, what wonderful news that Al enjoyed the Christmas get-together! So sorry about the leak and the heat problem!

Heidi, so sorry to hear about the leaks!

Brenda, sorry about the continued heat problem. Hope R can get to work this week! So, you'll have a white Christmas, it seems!

Going brain dead, and I really need to try to get to page 475 while it seems that I can!

Finally I have made it through the posts so far on page 475.

Laughing, Tami, put not using any initials!

Hoping for all the best for everyone! Sending lots of positive thoughts, prayers, {{{{{HUGS}}}}} and for everyone! Good Night!

I'll get back here again when I can. Just in case it's not for several days, I would like to wish everyone a wonderfully Merry Christmas which to me is also not a religious holiday but a celebration of family and friends! Hope to see all of you again soon!
