Morning all,
This is my second time up today - Ebob woke me at 3.30am opening and closing doors noisily. I read then, but was too tired to post.

Nola, so glad you are okay. I'm guessing you posted just before heading off to work so I won't call this morning. I'm getting to know your hubby very well! Grass-hopper said on easy that she's planning on going through her cupboards to give stuff to the Red Cross to help as much as she can. Now for the next battle - mosquitoes and disease...

Heidi, the standard Aussie ice pack is a package of frozen peas. Nothing wrong with beans! I was surprised to hear it was still hurting because I figured the pain pills you take for your back would take care of the pain. Sending thoughts and wishes that your bump and your cold are better in time for your trip.

MizT, you are so organised!! Wish I could be that organised! Hope you are feeling a little better. Thoughts and wishes that everything goes well next week with Al.

Theresa, hope it isn't bronchitis. Hugs, thoughts and wishes to you too.

I really should pay attention to the numbers!!

Tami, I'll have a cup - need one this morning. Figure I'd better have a nana nap today with a late night coming up tonight.

Suzy, your cup is poured, how do you take it?

I have late nights tonight and tomorrow. Tonight my SIL and her family are coming over just to hang out. Tomorrow a few friends are coming for New Year's Eve. The kids will play video games and the adults will talk or play games. It should be a nice night.

I have an announcement to make:

Next Tuesday my family will be getting a new member. We have adopted a 10 month old puppy. It is a labrador retriever. He is being fixed today and then has to be monitored for 24 hours. They are closed for the weekend so Tuesday is the earliest. So far his name is Lennon but we will decide for sure when he comes home. I will post pictures next week.

Tami, milk and a half a teaspoon of sugar thank you!!

Congratulations on your new family member. Lennon is a great name, though I hope he doesn't live up to the name by 'singing' a lot!

I understand. My FIL suggested "Ringo" or "Beatle". He thinks "Lennon" sounds like "Lenin". I don't think there would be any confusion from anyone who knows me. The next step is to find a Beatles dog collar

I agree about no confusion! I wonder what a Beatles dog collar would look like? Google sounds like a good idea there..

Congratulations Tami, they are a beautiful dog! Such great company.

The grandies are here, sitting with grandpa in front of the fireplace.

Leftover spaghetti for hubby's supper - I just don't feel up to cooking. I have Vicks slathered all over my chest and the grandies don't like the smell! I've finally found a way for them to leave me alone.

Suzy, I did google "beatles dog collar" and found a few. They are a little expensive and will take a while to ship. I bought a collar today and will look for a Beatles collar if Lennon is the name that sticks. We are going to give it a few days and see what his personality is like.
Theresa, I never did like the smell of Vick's either.

I called to see if we could pick up the dog tomorrow. He was not fixed today as planned, and won't be until Monday.

Now what is that thing about putting Vicks on your feet, then socks, when going to bed and it stops you coughing? Get well soon Theresa.

After several days of worrying about our cat and wondering where to dig a hole, this morning she ran to greet me when I went outside.
The last few days I would bring her inside to give her water and when I looked for her Hubby would say he had let her out!!!
I think she had some milk and dried food overnight but did not want food this morning. However she was drinking water so it looks like she has used up another of her 9 lives.
She hates strangers and if I tried taking her to the vet it would just be a major battle and stress her out too much. After hiding in all the neighbours for days she is happily curled up in our back yard today!

Yes June, she left at 6 this morning. I hope she has told her passenger that she needs to share the driving as she promised she would.

I'm glad your cat is home and seems to be improving even if it is minus a life..

We have installed a cat door for ours, but he will only use it if we aren't around. When we are he cries to be let out - we are letting him cry for now. If he can do it when we aren't there, he can do it when we are..

Mum has safely reached Wagga where she is having an early lunch as it is the last place to get KFC before she gets home - bet she bought a big box so she'd have leftovers!

She hasn't told her passenger about her dislocation so I hope nothing goes wrong..

Total fire ban for most regions, and here the fire danger is severe :(

Suzy.... do you mean that your mother isn't using crutches to favor the dislocation? Is she trying to mess herself up? Or do you just not want to get into it with her?

I just fed IH, now I'm going back to bed to rest my achy head. Even the methadone doesn't work completely on the concussed area. The head cold is at least responding to the cold meds now.

Heidi, here it is the height of summer. We did have a lot of rain which was great for a while, it kept everything green and stopped it from drying out so early, but it did have a downside. It also means that there is now a lot of lush undergrowth which IS drying out, all in all, a recipe for disaster.

Heidi, this is the 4th time Mum has dislocated and she has never been told to use crutches or any other form of assistance. It's 11 hours of driving that worries me.

Gail, I've heard on the news that a lot of areas have a catastrophic warning level for their fire danger - I don't know how to use the new lingo yet!

I am taking suggestions for names for our new dog. It is a Labrador Retriever and is a kind of light rust color. I still like Lennon but no one else is sure about it. It is a boy and he is 10 months old.

Just shorten it to Lenny. To pick a name just start calling out "Here Boy, Here Lenny!" and see if it is something you are comfortable with.
We have been to the shops, just a few things needed and we bumped into MIL and SisIL so we all had lunch together. Saved a visit this afternoon.

Lennon's middle name was Winston.

Lennon would be hard to call out, though I love the sentiment. For some reason when I try it Winston rolls off the tongue better, which makes no sense since they are so similar..

Hang on, isn't Winston the name of the ball on that shipwreck movie with Tom Hanks? No wonder I like the way it sounds. It was called out a lot.

Suzy, I think the ball was Wilson. (They are also a brand of baseballs)
Awfully humid here. I have just cleaned the shower recess so now back here with the fan on.
I started sorting out a large box of rubbish in the bedroom the other day and I should really be finding homes for what I have not thrown away, but I do not have much energy. It would be nice for it to be clean and tidy to start the new year!

Tami.... you can use first names of Beatles, too.... just don't use Ringo... he had no talent.
Why don't you accumulate a list of names, and see if he likes any of them? I think Freddie would be a good one, but I'm a Freddie Mercury fan.

Good Evening, fellow Sudokuaholics! Unfortunately, I must just pop in, then pop out again. I was scheduled to donate blood today. As I'm a "universal donor" blood type, they wanted me to try a platelet donation, which requires a special machine and 1.5 to 2 hours. I was willing, but they only had 2 machines and people were scheduled to about .5 hour later. So, I have an appointment at 7:30 tomorrow morning - not the way I had planned to start the day. They said the platelets are used for cancer patients, and it's one way to help others and a good way to start New Year's Eve day. I'm off to bed, but hope to read and comment tomorrow. Good Night, Everyone! Positive thoughts, prayers, and {{{{HUGS}}}} to each of you!
