MizT, pleased you are feeling a bit better. It always takes time to recover now we are getting older. How is AL? I hope he is still keeping his distance!
I have Hair Control dried pellets that I fed the cat. I will try the peanut butter when I find her.

Yes, MizT.... How is Al? Has he avoided the bug?

I've been talking to the lovebird guy down in Chattanooga. I now have directions to get to his place, and we've arranged a meeting time.... at 9 am!!! That means I'll have to leave home at 4:30 in the morning. But it also means that I'll get home early afternoon. He has a large number of birds for me to chose from, so I'll have a hard time restraining myself.

Hi All.

I am really concerned, we have the boys and son has gone home via the only route we can get through to make sure he is there if he has to lift furniture and pick up the 2 dogs. The houses 100 meters from him (our rental property) away have been evacuated as the Burnett continues to rise and Greg took some pix today of local bridges and landmarks that I CANNOT believe are underwater which were passable yesterday.
Will get back soon after I feed the boys...they don't know how close it is to their home.

Thinking of you Nola. Jusy looked at the news photos that were taken today. Hope your rental property will be OK. Hopefully Greg will be able to get the furniture up in case the water does come in. I gather your house is well above waterline.

Evening all,
I've just spoken to Nola and her son has photos up on facebook so I've requested him as a friend so I can have a look. I called back to talk to her to work out which one was him and spoke to her hubby who sounds very nice but a little bemused to hear from some strange woman from NSW..

Strange is right!

Yes, hubby and I were watching the news and just as I said Bundaberg, they mentioned it on TV. Nola, you and all of Bundy are in my thoughts ♥

Nola... You and your family are in my thoughts. As well as the rest of Bundaberg. I think everyone is sick and tired of all these weather extremes.

I was feeling a bit congested when I got up this morning, but now it's apparent that it's bloomed into a nasty head cold. I'll have to thank IH for sharing it. It's the only way he's generous.

I've checked out the photos and a video he also took. It must have been earlier because he had the boys with him and they were with Nola later.

I'll call again when it's a decent hour to see how they went overnight.

Mum is sleeping late this morning so I'm getting more internet time!

Tomorrow night is the Berry NYE celebrations. Rotary puts it on and the Lions provide the musical entertainment. Ally is on first with Pride and then last as a solo artist. She's on just before the fireworks so should have a good audience!

Thanks for asking, Al does not have the bug. How he has not I am not sure, but we have tried to keep washing hands and using hand sanitizer. He even has prepared most of his meals, so I did not get germs on his food.

Suzy, thanks for posting the you tube, that is a lot of water rising fast. I wish the best for everyone in the town. Keep us posted when you hear from Nola again.

Al drove us up to town, went to bank and into grocery for orange juice, grapefruit and bread. Now I am worn out, just no energy. I think it is time for a nap.

Is 8 am too early to call? I'll try to wait another hour, though I think I will miss Nola anyway. She and any coworkers who can get there are being asked to work as much overtime as they can to cover for the people who can't get there at all.

MizT, I'm glad Al has managed to avoid the bug - wouldn't want his chemo delayed again if you can help it!

Heidi, stay away from Al and no sneezing through the computer!!

Today is Mum's last day here. It has been a relatively good visit, I say relatively as having her dislocate was not a good day..

I was amazed by the huge number of videos on YouTube about the Bundaberg flood. It looks like every resident there must have filmed it and posted it!

Suzy... 8 am is WAY too early to call someone. I was brought up that you never call anyone before 9 am or after 9 pm, unless it's a life-or-death emergency.

Heidi, one of the TV stations is asking people to contact them if they have video or photos, I wonder if they even thought to try youtube. They are showing the same shots over and over again on TV.

There is an aerial shot that shows whole areas with water all around, and probably in, the houses.

I just searched youtube for Susan from Queensland's area and her area looked just the same, though the videos are 3 days old. One guy had walked through the water to go to the store to buy bread and, wait for it, washing powder, who does the washing when it's flooding??

Good morning all - thanks for the Bundy flood video link, Suzy! I have a friend who moved to Bundy about 6 months ago. She posted yesterday that she and her partner were so thankful that they had pulled out of the purchase of a house there, which, at the time cost them their original $1000 deposit. That home was on Mariners Way which was listed as being flooded. Compared to what they could have lost, $1000 suddenly didn't seem so bad. The house they subsequently bought is high and dry!

I once had a DIL who was small, both in size and mind, manipulative, over-sensitive, miserable, humourless and possessed no class whatsoever. I now have a possible replacement (Lisa) who is tall, happy, open, friendly, funny and the girls love her already - hope she can love them too! She certainly was good with them yesterday - but, I guess, we'll just have to wait and see. Fingers crossed.

Suzy - I think Susan's area is out of danger and even the roads are open again but Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Emerald are the worst affected with floodwaters still rising despite the rain easing. I hope Nola's son's house survived - it didn't look too far from the rising water and that was a day or 2 ago!

Thanks to all this rain in the Eastern states, we can expect a 50-100% rise in most fruit and vegies costs.

Cyn, I hope things go well with the new lady. Not sure I appreciate your comments are short people though! I heard about the fruit and veg last night - as if they aren't expensive enough!!

Reposting from easy because I'm lazy;
I have just spoken to Nola's husband and told him that people are asking after them. He was very appreciative and asked me to let you know that they are all okay this morning. Nola has actually gone off to work - the oldies need taking care of no matter the weather. I asked him to pass on our thoughts when she gets home.

Hey Suzy - I have no problem with 'short' people whatsoever, especially not you or my dear Mum and late MIL!! However, I only mentioned it because the ex-DIL was about 5ft tall, new girl is 6ft tall - OK because son is 6ft 4ins. That was just a physical difference - the main part is the difference in attitude - Lisa loves us!!
