He would like a thermometer. He's a hypochondriac. I like the suggestion about the book on how to make paper flowers. It has to be a cheap paperback, tho'.

I won't use the cake suggestion... mainly because it shows long term thought about his birthday, but also because he can sniff out baked goods anywhere, and he'd eat the whole thing before I figured out that he'd found it.

Heidi - maybe you could buy the book second-hand for a few bucks. Do you have charity-run shops over there. We do - and they sell the best (?) of what is donated to the charity involved - clothes, books, homewares. Actually a good idea - I trawl through them - pick up a good book now and then, buy crockery to break up for mosaics.

The thing is.... I don't want to make an effort, even for a lousy present. I think I'll repeat a previous gem of his... tear out a half page of scratch paper and write him an IOU. Never give him the item promised, just the scrap of paper.

I am afraid I disagree with all of you about a present for Gil. A marriage should not be a battleground, and although he is very inconsiderate and thoughtless it does not mean Heidi should retaliate. I would still buy something inexpensive, but a gift he would appreciate. Maybe a diary and put in notes of things you want (Like a week before Christmas next year lots of notes about Blintzes)

Sorry June, would still like to use a lump of 4be2 to knock some sense into the man, but perhaps a softer touch would work too. Hehe! Heidi! confuse him with your consideration. Yeah I know but sometimes........you never know until you try again.

I don't like the idea of sinking to his level. But I've tried consideration for years and it doesn't work.

It is amazing how many highly intelligent people are also very 'thick' and I would say IH falls into that category. Heidi, you cannot wait for him to buy what you would like, just bombard him with reminders everywhere until he actually remembers. I think I would have given him a kick up the you know where long ago!.

Heidi, was IH like that when you first met or has this happened over the years? I have to admit that if that happened to me, I probably would have burst into tears.
Coffee is ready for anyone who wants some. Better hurry though because hubby will soon be up and want some too.

Evening all,
It has been a battle to get on here today. If I have made it one I had to stay velcroed or I lost my spot! Since I'm an up and down type of person that didn't happen so I lost my spot easily...
Ebob is still here, even though she's been given a couple of stern talking tos... Hubby wants the uncertainty gone, he wants to sit down with her and ask if she is here to stay - I told him I don't think she knows...

Hubby is not a good shopper for Xmas. He spends way too much money on the wrong thing. I learned to buy what i wanted myself and give it to him to wrap. He still buys me something that is a surprise, but I know I get what I want as well.

Same here Suzy, our mob are all adults now, and the only way to responsibly spend money is to buy exactly what they want, so suggestions are added onto the pieces of paper along with names, so nobody has the stress of thinking what to buy. I got shoes, just summer slip ons, and I have lived in one the pairs since! As a surprise that hubby, Beth and Hannah decided on was a new hold-all bag. As anyone who knows me knows I love my bags, usually Indian or Asian in style and material. They all agreed that I have been using the carpet bag for too long now, I need a change! I just might use it for the first time tomorrow...
Time for bed now.
Love and best wishes to all xoxo

Reminders to IH don't work. Nor does telling him what I want. He's too cheap and he lies up a storm. He invariably says that he tried to get what I wanted, but nobody in the store he went to had ever heard of such a thing. Of course he goes to the wrong place, if he isn't lying about going there at all. I REALLY wanted some blintzes. I've told him that they're sold in the frozen food section of any large grocery in any major city. He makes food deliveries to Krogers (a MAJOR chain) in Louisville and Lexington, and could easily pick some up there. Instead, he told me that he went to a couple of bakeries and asked for blintzes. They're not sold in bakeries. They have no shelf life fresh.
He wasn't like this when I first met him. He was stingy, but he's become so cheap now that he's a joke not just in our county, but surrounding counties as well. People who have never even met him tell each other true stories about his cheapness. Few people will work for him more than once.

Hi everyone.
Greg & I went for a drive yesterday to see how the kids were going with all this water getting higher. We had to make a few detours and were totally shocked at how much of Bundy is underwater. The Burnett river is higher than I have ever seen it,flowing really fast with tree branches etc and expected to rise another 1-2 feet before peaking in about 24 hours.
Our rental property where son and 3 boys live might be evacuated today as the flooding is only about 200 mtrs down the street.Greg will have the boys today and bring them here.
The detours we used yesterday are now blocked so it is very hard to get to East Bundaberg unless you go a very long way around.
Renae is safe as the drains take the majority away after there is a lull in the rain falling.
On Sun.work were asking for volunteers to work a few extra hours as many staff could not get safely to work.Hopefully,I will get there this morning but I will not drive through any water over the road in my Getz as it is too low.
Wish us luck in a safe outcome to this.

Morning all,
Nola, I was thinking of you when I watched the news this morning. It is bad in Bundy!! I'm glad your house is safe though. We have a Getz too and I agree, no driving through water. Apart from anything else they are so tiny they could be washed away!
Heidi, don't forget to pick yourself up some blintzs when you go to get your birds. An extra special treat then!
Gail, I was given a bag for Xmas - apparently my SIL bought it then couldn't remember who she got it for so I got it - the adults don't exchange gifts.. Yours sounds lovely. I have a beautiful one from Thailand but I won't use it because I don't want to ruin it.
June, did you say if Santa was good to you? Has the CD that goes with the slide thingy shown up yet?
Ebob is still here and isn't making any moves to leave. Fingers crossed.
Mum is off to see a friend from Sydney today, they are meeting in Kiama, which means I might get some computer time...

Hi all. Hope everyone is having a great day. I have posted a few pictures on my page. There is one from today's lunch with Mamacita and two of my new fridge. We had a wonderful time. My hubby and both boys came as well as my parents. Mama was there with her son and granddaughter. It was a lovely time. She is a really charming lady and I look forward seeing her again sometime, but not this trip.

I gave hugs to Mamacita for everyone. My arms got tired. Her son is as nice as she is and her granddaughter was adorable and very well behaved. I had to cause trouble even at the restaurant. After lunch, the restaurant had free ice cream. I was next to last to go get it. I noticed the chocolate syrup that no one else did. I came back and the kids wanted syrup. Christine's dad said no, but I took her with me and put syrup on her ice cream. He laughed, I think he just did not want to get up

Tami, I love your fridge. Mine is probably about half the size too, but it's just hubby and I so it's fine. I like the black handles on the cupboards - it ties it all in.
I have spent the day suffering from a panic attack. It has now calmed down, but as always happens afterwards, I'm exhausted and I have a headache. It will be an early night tonight.
I've been knitting again today. The grandies want doll blankets. I am hoping to get at least one done for my youngest grandie's birthday on Jan. 9 (she'll be six).
Hope MizT is feeling better. {{HUGS}}
Hugs to Suzy and June's friend also. I have plenty of them - one size fits all.

Suzy, Santa was very good. We got a combined present for ourselves. A 32in LED TV for the bedroom. We have not installed it as yet. I got a large fan for the sunroom, some Rivers sandals, nightie, perfume, cook book, the annual book on Astronomy for Sydney.Plus a few other bits and pieces from family and friends.
We still have to install the TV.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas as well.

I decided to clean out the large box in the bedroom that I tend to throw everything into. Lots of cards over the last 10 years and I even found $100 in one that has been there for about 8 years. The bad news is I now have a big mess everywhere and not sure where to put everything!

I cannot find my cat and she was a bit off colour this morning. She is 15 and loosing weight. She also gets fur balls and I think she has one at the moment and is having trouble bring it up. I need to make sure she does not get dehydrated.

June, my cats get hairballs, and I keep hairball remedy meds for them. It helps to break apart the hair and acts as a laxative. Do they sell anything like that in Oz? Any kind of oil or fat is also good. If I did not have the remedy, I would put a nice bit of margarine or peanutbutter smeared down their foreleg. they lick it off and hairball is passed.
Today was a bit better day, tonight my eyes are even less wattery. I got a couple things done, but found I am weak as water, so I had a nice nap after each little chore. Temp is down. Think I am going to live.
Good wishes to all, hope to get my hugs de-germed soon.
