She moved ... rearranged the eggs a bit and did a bit of preening and settled back down. Oh great, now I'm addicted.

Suzy, sounds like Dana has had a fun time. Wow, I think you will be the best mom in her eyes for quite some time. It's hard letting our babies go, isn't it?

Daughter was very up-beat last night and it was so nice to see the sparkle back in her eyes. Her one big problem with her room is the noise around her. She is the youngest person on the floor, and a lot of the patients there are suffering from mental problems as well. One likes to sing at the top of her voice at all hours of the night. Another keeps screaming, "Stop it, stop it. Please don't scratch me and send me to China." Another keeps saying, "Don't take my teeth." Never a dull moment. She will be glad to come home and get a sound sleep. She will probably still have to sleep on the couch downstairs for a bit because their bathroom is downstairs, but eventually she will be able to do stairs without a problem. I am so happy!!!!! The operation they did is a new kind of "resurfacing" and she was only the second person ever in that hospital to have it done. It's sole purpose, aside from relieving the pain, is to give her some time before she needs a total hip replacement. They gave her a picture of the x-ray with the metal piece at the top of the femur. She will definitely set off alarms at airports.

The fund raising was a big success. With just over $3,000 in donations we raised a total of just under $6,000. All my scones (with jam and cream were all sold). The funds will go to flood relief and also to NZ earthquake victims.

Great news about the fund raising, June.

The eagle just flew off a few minutes ago, to be replaced by the mate who is now sitting on the eggs. This is so neat to watch ... thanks again, Julie!

Hi all. Just back from attempting to donate blood. I have bad veins. They found a vein and got the blood started but it stopped less than half way through. Can not use what came out. At least I tried.
Julie, thanks for the link to the eagle. I watched the eagle turn head to look around. I am sure I will be going back to it a lot.
Have a few things to do and then to go get the kiddies from Sunday School. Talk to y'all later.

I just got to watch the eagles change places in the nest!!!!!! The female got up once the male landed on the nest, and flew away. Then the male did a little rearranging of the nest for comfort, and settled in on top of the two eggs.

I've been doing a little reading on their ustream page. The eggs won't start hatching until around April 3rd. I've bookmarked the link so I can check on them regularly. This is amazing! I've never seen a Bald Eagle except in a zoo, and being able to watch a wild pair (and a famous one at that!) start a new family is wonderful! This pair was featured in a PBS Doco in 2008 called "American Eagle".

The skunk stink isn't as bad as it was last night. Apparently no dogs got a direct hit. They just strolled through the miasma. There is a trigger happy skunk living in my new hay barn. I know he's trigger happy because he has such a strong smell. The more they spray, the stronger their stench is. I can smell this guy's presence from nearly 100 feet away. Most skunks can't be detected until you almost stumble on them.

Has anybody read Easy today? Debby from Michigan's son Scott passed away last night in his sleep. Her other son was killed in a car crash 3 years ago at the age of, I believe, 18. I can't even begin to imagine the grief Debby is experiencing right now. She was vacationing in Florida when this happened.

Morning all,
Happy and sad start to the day today.

Theresa, what a wonderful surprise for the grandies! So quick!!

I have just been doing a quick search of the archives to see if Debby's son is the father of the unborn grandchild - I couldn't tell. So very very sad.

It is so sad about Debby's son. When my daughter was 4 months old I had to go back to work. Her first babysitter was a wonderful lady with a wonderful family, and she too had a string of very difficult losses. First one of her daughters died at the age of 18 from leukemia. Then another one of her daughters died from leukemia also when she was about 25. Her husband died in 1998. I got an email from her last week and she told me her son (in his 40's) has a brain tumour. Her son's wife left him and took their daughter. I don't know how some people can survive all this and keep going. But this lady does keep going. She lives at a seniors condo and teaches exercise programs for them. Her email to me are always very upbeat and she always asks about my daughter. Life can be so cruel for some people.

I heard the eagle on the nest "talking" - not at all what I envisioned they would sound like. The eagle then flew off and left the nest unattended for about a minute or so until the mate came and sat on the nest. This is mesmerizing.

Back again - I have the nest cam going too - hope it doesn't use too much of my allowance...

Theresa, did the son's wife leave AFTER the diagnosis? Won't make any judgemental comments until after I know that.

Suzy, she left just before Christmas before he was diagnosed, but he was sick. Even her family is apparently on his side in this one. I don't know why she left.

Gail, I closed it just in case - and sadly..

Theresa, perhaps his brain tumour had changed his personality and she didn't know why, only that it wasn't good. I have to give her the benefit of the doubt on that one. It wouldn't take much to swing me back though...

Hi everyone. Just back from a few errands and gnihsaw the cars and dog. I am upset about Debby's son. I have met Debby twice and she is a charming woman. She is very upbeat and a great person to be around.

Bad news Heidi... your computer is not 'immune' to viruses it just doesn't get targeted much because of low market share. If millions of people decided to buy them, you'd be copping just as many as the rest of us.

Other security experts seem to agree that Macs' relative lack of virus problems has much more to do with the computer's market share than any kind of actual fortitude against attack. As Halvar Flake, head of research and CEO of Zynamics, told Mills, "Vista/Win7 has more extensive countermeasures against attacks and a codebase with presumably fewer security issues. But it's the operating system of the majority of users, hence making it profitable to attack. Attackers will therefore spend lots of time bypassing the countermeasures. Mac OS has fewer countermeasures and lots of easily exploitable bugs, but the market share is low, making it a less likely target."

Broni, I was just reading an article about tech myths - btw, you should let your battery run completely flat before recharging, and you should wait before rebooting your computer, and 3 megapixels is plenty for your camera unless you want to blow it up to more than 12 inches by 18 inches... but it also said that MACS are probably more vulnerale to attacks than Windows, there just aren't enough of them to make it worth it to the hackers - which still means you have fewer virus problems with MACS, but not because they are better than Windows.
