Morning all!
Now I wish it was the last page - parafin? Did I remember that correctly?

I get to work in the uniform shop at the school today. I earn $20 worth of uniforms for every hour I am there.

Morning All!
Like Suzanne a bad nights sleep. Need to shake a tail feather as have Teresa and a friend of ours coming for lunch, he is moving to Victoria at the end of the week.
Sounds like a good deal Zusy.
MizT and Heidi hope your hands are improving.
Hope you enjoy Avatar Vici, want to see it myself.
Love and hugs to all.

Hi everyone, glad you all like the poems. I will post the rest as I can. I had to write 13 total. Can't post most of them until after weekend in case mom reads this page. Thank you for all your support for Mitchell's big day. Funny coincidence. His Bar Mitzvah day is the same day as my 16th wedding anniversary. I keep telling him the party is for me and dad, but he doesn't agree.

Sorry, Suzanne, it is not Debbie. It is my friend Michelle. I don't know if you ever met her or not.

Hello, Everyone!

Darn! I had a comment started - and lost it when I went to the site to see Dallas the basset hound. Oh, well! It was worth it to see Dallas! Broni, I think both her age and her sex are in her favor. I don't think Bella would see her as a threat or competition. But then, what do I know? I've never had a dog - but I help our neighbor who does labrador (and anything from kill shelters) rescue.

Hello to Tami, Broni, Mama, Heidi, Suzanne, Gail, Suzy, CynB, Brenda, Vici, and MizT!

Tami, the poem is great - and you wrote 13 of them?

Mama, as usual, your advice is right-on thoughtful and accepting. Tami holds the controls and can exercise them if she chooses.

Heidi, a water line to the bird barn makes wonderfully good sense! Soooo much easier than carrying buckets of water with only 1 good hand! I only wish all of your chores could be made easier in some way!

Suzy, working in the uniform shop & earning credit toward the uniforms sounds like a win-win situation! I hope it's not boring! Oh, the paraffin (warmed) is probably part of MizT's therapy. I once had a treatment of both hands in a mini-spa paraffin bath. It felt wonderful and made my hands smoother and softer (for a while).

Tami, in my lost comment, I was thinking about you needing to write 13 poems, and you've commented on that on this page. I can't wait to read all of them.

Broni and Suzanne, I hope you have a good day, in spite of a poor night's sleep. (I truly understand!)

MizT and Heidi, I hope your hands are improving. (Heidi, as I read your explanation of your injury to MizT, I almost thought you had re-injured your hand. Then I saw the picture was one you had posted last week. Thank goodness! You don't need a reinjury so soon - or ever, for that matter.

Julie.... a few years ago I dislocated that same joint, and broke the bone next to the dislocation. The break was still visible on this x-ray, as well.... as scar tissue and a badly healed break. Re-dislocating it really traumatized the surrounding tissue.

My problem with accepting the friend request would be that there is a possibility of being hurt this time. Things can never be as they were. I've been hurt too many times and am now gun shy.

Hello again everyone. Catching up on all the news -
CynB, I hope your son-in-law is ok - sounds like a nasty accident, but as you say, could have been worse ...
Heidi, Jose Figueres sounds like an amazing man! It's hard to believe one person could do so much for his country - I guess he had a dream too...
Tami, best wishes for Mitchell's Bar Mitzvah - hope all goes smoothly, and hope you all have fun! :) (I like the poem you wrote)
I've probably told this story before, but here goes anyway (For Broni!) ...
We promised the kids they could have a dog, so we went through a couple of animal shelters - at the second one there was a little dog sitting by the fence looking SO miserable. The others were looking at a bigger dog, but I thought "Hey, he's small, how much trouble could he be?" (oh my goodness, how much!) so I pointed him out to the kids - he pressed up against the fence, whined and wagged his tail at them, and they all gathered around to pat him through the wire ... all over bar the shouting! The attendant asked if we'd like to see him up close, so they let him out to run around - he went beserk, ran round like a wild thing, jumping and licking - then he peed on my skirt. Oh, thank you! The kids thought that was a riot, said he'd marked me as his territory, etc. Game over! And that's how we got Jack. Rob sneaked a look at his file while we waited - 9-12 months old, and, oh dear, a convicted chicken killer! (which the kids also thought was hilarious!) So, that's how Jack joined our family ... :)

Judy - what a lovely story about Jack. He chose your family - what could be better.
That's how we got Jewel - a customer told Col she had these mini-poodle pups, he went over to see them, the other 4 just ignored him, Jewel greeted him like a long-lost friend, spent the next several hours being driven all over the place in the truck, then came home and took us over!

I can tell you an interesting anecdote about José Figueres. This took place when skyjacking first started, back in the 60's. Costa Rica is a neutral country, with no military, so an early skyjacker thought it was the perfect destination to flee to. Don José had a different idea. He knew he had to nip it in the bud. When the plane landed at Los Cocos (main airport), Don José himself walked out on the runway, pointed a submachine gun at the astonished skyjacker, and told him to get the h*ll out of Costa Rica. He did. No skyjacked plane was ever taken to Costa Rica again.

Heidi, I too have been burned by more than one friend. That is why I am hesitating to accept the request.
Love the stories of how every one got their dogs. Mine is similar. When Katrina hit New Orleans they brought a lot of the homeless dogs down here. I finally convinced hubby to get a second dog. We all went to the shelter and they started showing us a few dogs. One behind the counter had caught my eye. After a few dogs, they brought over the dog I had been looking at. They handed her to me and she snuggled her head into my shoulder. She rode home on my lap. She also got car sick. Not fun to clean up.

Good Night, Tami! Have a good day at school tomorrow. (Sorry I missed you while watching "Dirty Jobs" with hubby.)

Judy, CynB, Heidi and Tami, it's good to hear about how dogs came into your lives. We nearly had a Portuguese Water Dog about 5 years ago, I think. Then hubby had major surgery and a slow recovery. I saw the dog we were going to get about 6 months ago. He belongs to the breeder's daughter and is GORGEOUS! They kept the name I was calling him - Harry. (He's mostly black and had a zig-zag white marking on his head.)

Afternoon all!
MizT, I hope it works!

Love the dog stories. Ours are both very loving and were from the day we got them. They wish they could sit inside with us more. They could if they didn't insist on rolling in horse dung!

I think a baby animal of almost any kind should be given to all students of the HSC. The unconditional love is a wonderful stress reliever!

Hi all! Had a good day with Teresa and Ol' Brian.
Great doggie stories, had a Blue Heeler that I got from the pound, was only about nine months old and he had been beaten so bad that as soon as you put your hand up to pat him he would cringe and roll over on his back. Took about a year to train him out of it, but one day in the middle of Toorak Road(very posh suburb) I went up to get bread sticks for lunch, Mum and Dad were coming over. His chocker got caught and I bent over to fix it with the bread stick under my arm, guess what he did?

Hi folks.
Tami I also know what it is to be badly burned by a friend...the person capable of causing the most pain is often the last person you would expect... It does make make you cautious. VERY cautious. Go with your heart. You have a full life and some VERY good friends and one would think that just one person shouldn't be able to upset all that. But they can and they do.

If in doubt...DON'T. If it was really right for you you wouldn't have hesitated.

Nah Zusy! Peak hour Saturday morning traffic, Blue Dog decided he was scared of the bread sticks (like I was gunna hit him!) cringed and rolled onto his back wimpering, you don't reckon I got some looks like I am a dog beater?

Finally a few minutes to say hi. My husband's aunt's funeral was on Monday. By the way, is she also my aunt, my aunt-in-law, how does that work? The funeral was very long and the church pews very hard. My mother-in-law is taking it quite hard.
Tami, I think we all know what it's like to be hurt by someone you thought was a good friend. I guess all our lives change as we grow older and nothing stays the same. Doesn't make it any less painful.
Well, I'm on a deadline for work (I work at home typing up court transcripts on the computer). I will try and catch up later ... a lot of reading to do. Thanks for listening and being there.

morning sa friends. It is a cloudy and damp morning, but warm. this week we shall be way above average temps. I guess mixed with last week, these are need to make our "average" come right.

Restles s night, up every 2 hours, this weather change and old bones I imagine.

When growing up, we had a collie, Dad brought her home as a 6 week old pup, first day of school holidays. We could not agree on a name for her, so we started calling her Baby. Name stuck.

Befoefe Baby, a full grown male collie came up to the house. He was beautiful, loved kids and Mom, but cowed and whined at any man. Even as a child I could tell he had been abused. later a man came to claim him, had photos of himself with the dog, so pretty sure this man had been in the dogs life, but personality of that dog changed totally around that man. I always wondered if the man was the abuser, or if behavior was a holdover from previous.

Hi Tricia. We have two cats (brothers) that were rescued from a smoking cage at a place I formerly worked and they have always been afraid of all men. We have had them for almost nine years, and it is only the last few months that my husband can pet one of them and the other still runs. It was so sad when they came to us because they only looked to each other for comfort. One would suck on the other's ear and the other would suck on his brother's paw. They are Frasier and Niles, two beautiful tabby and white guys. I believe they were also abused by a male figure in their previous home.

By the way, Frasier is the most needy (the one my husband can't pet) and he sleeps on my side every night. When I say on my side, I don't mean my side of the bed, but right on my side.
