everybody.
It's raining and the yard is turning into a mud bath. At least the rain will help all the dirt settle in the trench.

Good morning.
We went fishing yesterday, or the grandson did the fishing while I sat on the sand (and untangled fishing lines) He did not catch anything but it did keep him occupied for a couple of hours. Might do the science museum today. Ken will be down Saturday and we will go home next Wednesday morning.

Good Maen everyone! Read a bunch, but memory isn't good today.
TTT: I don't think I ever met Michelle, not sure. She's not Shelley, right??? Hope you & Andy & Mitchell take time to relax & enjoy the big day Saturday! 16 years these days IS a long time, but if we remember that our parents have done it (and for MUCH longer), then we can too!

Just heard on the news that a 6.1 aftershock hit Haiti early this morning. How much more can these poor people take? My heart aches.

Heidi, doing the volunteer work at the cat rescue really opens your eyes to the inhumane way people treat their animals. You would know that too with your rescued dogs. I have eight cats currently and they are all rescued or abandoned cats. Plus we have a shelter and feeding station in our yard for about a dozen feral cats (plus skunks and raccoons in the summer that pass by). I love animals and the more I know some people (this site being one of the exceptions), the more I love my cats.

Theresa... I have some 16 cats right now, most of which are rescues, and 2 ferals. Since I keep food out in my feed room in the barn (there is a cat flap so I can keep the room heated) all sorts of other stray and feral cats show up to eat and stay warm. I have no idea how many cats I feed, but we go through 20 to 40 lbs of cat food daily.

Morning all!
Heidi, I didn't know you had cats too! I shouldn't be surprised I guess.

I have a feral cat story... One of our cats started meowing at the door to be fed at unusual times. We put the food down and then watched through the window to see what was going on. As soon as we left he backed away from the food dish and meowed at a little tree we had in the front yard. A tiny feral cat came down to eat. This happened several times until a neighbour trapped it because it was climbing into their roof space at night.

Theresa, sending SA vibes out to you and your MIL. It would be hard to lose a sibling - I think I've got that right.

June, what 'fun' untangling fishing line... I think I've said this before - you are a great grandmother!

All of my cats have to be barn cats. That's because they're the only animal I'm allergic to.

Darn, just hit a wrong button and lost my post!

Good Afternoon from Illinois!

Hello, MizT, Heidi, Suzy, Broni, Bean, Theresa, June, and Suzanne!

I included wishes for good health and happiness to all!

I know I sent positive healing vibes to MizT and Heidi for their hands.

I sent warm positive vibes to Theresa, her hubby and her MIL!

I am impressed by June's example of being a great grandmother! Wow - sitting and untangling fishing line for a couple of hours!

Thinking of all you wonderful animal lovers who rescue cats, dogs, horses, etc., and feed whatever animals in the area need feeding.

I only had a minute or two - and now that's gone. I hope to be back later!

I just don't feel like working today :(
In just over half an hour I have to pick up my granddaughters at the bus stop. Today my stomach is being naughty and I could really use a nap instead of babysitting. Hopefully the girls will be good and amuse themselves (yeah, right).
Thanks Suzy. My MIL is in her early 80's and not terribly mobile. Fortunately my sister-in-law lives next door to her.
Sorry about the allergy Heidi. Must make it hard to look after the kitties knowing you can't hug and cuddle them.

Theresa, sometimes the littles just seem to understand and tone down their activity level when you need it. I'm hoping your granddaughters will notice today and quietly spend their time with you amusing themselves.

I hug and cuddle them every day, Theresa. I'd rather suffer from allergy problems than not love up my cats. It only gets too much if they're in the house.

Heidi, when we first got married my husband's doctor sent him to an allergist. Turns out he was allergic to cat dander. The allergist sent home a whole list of things that had to be done, and of course getting rid of the cats was one of the things "suggested". Others included vacuuming every day, including the drapes and mattresses, etc. I told my husband that he was going to be a very busy man ... and we kept the cat. He had allergy shots for years and now seems to be fine (he better be with 8 furballs in the house). Good thing I didn't have to choose between them, huh?

Theresa... I'm WAY too lazy to do all that work with a vacuum. And allergy shots didn't help much, so I take OTC meds which help fairly well.

Morning All, hope you are all well.
Did I mention that I am allergic to dog hair, any new dog I meet I have to spend a lot of time washing my hands and arms otherwise I come out in a sort of rash but I do desensitise after a while.
Hi ho, hi ho, getting ready for work I go!
Have a great day all.

Good mAen everyone! Heidi: Years ago I had a friend that SWORE he was highly allergic to cats...We had hardwood floors in the house and I found that if I kept the floors clean, he had NO problems...I know what you mean about not wanting to do all that cleaning. How about taking an allergy pill an hour or so before you know you need to take care of the cats?

Julie, no such luck with the granddaughters today. Usually they get along really well, but not today. I love them dearly and as my daughter says, it's a good thing they're cute.

Broni, my daughter has a black lab (Dakota) and she seems to be allergic to that dog's fur, but not other dogs. Dakota sheds a lot all the time. When the dog brushes my daughter's arm or anything like that, my daughter breaks out in a hive-like rash. Dakota will be 10 this month and she's starting to slow down. I made the dog a nice soft bed and brought it over to her on Monday. Every time I go over there she's lying on it, so I guess she approves.

I am also a cat-lover, but we only have four at the moment, and I have no intention of ever getting anymore. Most of the cats we have eveb had have found us rather than the other way around, so I am not saying I wont ever have another cat, just wont go looking.

My parents used to have a cattle dog, they named her Belle, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge years ago. How she found them, I have no idea, but she sure fell on her paws that day.
It was terribly obvious she had been abused beforehand, she cringed at anyone other than my parents, and never really allowed any of us to pet her, but she adored my folks. They would sit in their chair and just put their arms over the edge and she would sit, just touching them.
Every time a bicycle went passed, she would go berserk, so we wonder whether she was one of those dogs you see tethered to a bike when they are riding fast (I hate seeing that). I think her owner used to kick her too, something about the way she reacted to the bikes.

Son #1 adopted a kitten from the Pet Rescue place last Sunday, named Archie.
Got a phone call while we were driving home from Albany (about 80ks from home), 'Guess what mum?" "What Son?""I bought a kitten, and he is cute!"
On Monday, cute little Archie had a mishap, he almost was trodden on, got a fright and ran off into the door, concussed and a blood nose. he spent the night at the vet's. Archie is ok, and home again purring with Son.
