Cyn - so happy the card arrived. What's up with the snail mail? During the holidays mail to Oz was getting ther much more quickly. Must have cut down on the staff working the mail. I thought I mailed your card in plenty of time.
Well, going to start a casserole that I'll bake for dinner tonight. It's a meat/noodle/cheese kind of thing that I've been making since I was a kid...an old family favorite.
Oh - forgot to mention that we went out in the storm yesterday to purchase our kitchen appliances (stove top, double oven and dishwasher - all black). We won't be ready to put them in for probably a good year or so, but were thinking of inflation and thought we should get them purchased now.

Tomorrow is IH's big day. His 61st birthday. No, he'll be gone most of the day. I'm having a fun time ragging him that he's now over 60. He still refers to himself as one of the young people in the community.

Happy B'day to IH, Heidi! I still think of myself as a young person. When we were at Avatar there were lots of older folks - then I realized I was one of them!!! Not a "cotton top" yet, though!
Enjoy your alone time!

The thing is,Vici.... he acts like an old Fogey and has no sense of humor. Nobody ever believes that I'm as old as I am, not because of looks but because I still enjoy life like a kid, and remember how it feels to be one. I think I'm now living the childhood I wish I'd had.

Morning all!
Took me a while to get here because I couldn't find my walking stick.
Vici, I still haven't been to the post office since the SA meet! You are soooo organised.
Heidi, say happy birthday to Gil from me and tell him I asked him was he going to retire soon hehe
Vici, black! So much work to maintain! I'm too lazy to buy black stuff anymore...

Happy birthday to Gil.

Heidi, having met you and knowing your age, you do not look or act your age. Within minutes, Heidi was playing cards with the beastie boys.
Vici, the tables are labeled as follows: Marlins, Mets, Dodgers, White Sox, Orioles, Red Sox.

Greetings friends. the care and feedin g of this wrist/thumb is time consuming. Talked to therapost today and we have added ICING the dern thing for 30 min after each exercise ( work up to 3 a day) to keep down the sweling. Geeze, plus 15 min of warm before, and the 15 min of massage, that feels good but it is time consuming. then twice a day the parafin bath, well, all this to say you know what I have been doing instead of talking to my friends here!
June, never have had rubarb, are you making pies of it?
Happy B'day to Gil, if the old fogey even celebrates b;days.
VICK, the kitchen appliances sound pretty. I have never had black kitchen myself. what other colors will you put with?
Ok, all the typing I can tolerate for today, I will keep checking back.
Hugs to all,

Have to get all dressed up. It is picture night. You are not allowed to take pictures in the temple on Shabbat (Saturday) so we are going tonight to do the formal portraits.

He had someone being in a computer, unannounced. Might have to go to plan B for dinner. I just cannot peel and chop without ding injury to this hand. I need something to hld down a veg while I chop away. something heavy with lots of sharp spikes to t=stick through it. any inventors listening?

Good morning lovely SA people.
Tami - all best wishes for your big day tomorrow - sounds like you've got everything well-organised, even if you don't think so. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
Vici - I have to admit the last time the post box was cleared was last Friday.
Heidi - Happy Birthday to Gil.
Hi to MizT, June (still working), Suzy, Suzanne, Broni and whoever was on the previous page that I can't remember.

Good Early Evening, Everyone!
Hello, Vici, Heidi, Suzy, June, MizTricia, and CynB (so far on this page)!
Great TOPP, Vici! And SUPER planning to purchase the appliances now and lock in prices. Will you need to store them somewhere?
Heidi, be sure to extend our warmest birthday wishes to your hubby!
Will he have a birthday cake
and presents? How OLD did you say he would be?
Tami, enjoy the formal portrait time! Wow - needing to be all dressed up for the same event twice! Hope all goes well!
Must run now and enter the K room. I hope to be back later.

Pictures are done. The photographer is crazy. He will come to the luncheon on Saturday and take more pictures then. Just before we were going to leave, my substitute called and had to cancel for tomorrow. She is sick and can't be near the kids. She is a reliable sub so I know she is really sick. I have put in a request for a different sub. Luckily, I can request one online.

MizT ... sounds like a lot of work, but will be worth it in the end.
Tami ... have a great weekend. Hopefully you will have some time to rest afterwards. Maybe you should have taken Monday off too.
Heidi ... we're only as old as we feel. Some days I feel my age and others I feel like a teenager. Keep on trucking!

I would have loved to take monday off also. We are about weeks 7 away from the big state test and taking days off is frowned on. I hate the stupid state test. It puts way to much pressure on the kids.

Why do they do State tests? Do they actually help towards a child's education?

NO!!!! They only help teach them how to take a test and to drive the teachers nuts.

Just a quick pop in, as it's nearly 11, and I have another early morning. (I have physical therapy early 3 days a week - cutting back to 2 days next week. This morning we needed an early start to drive the hour or so to my MIL's assisted living. Our appt. was at 10, but freezing rain was predicted overnight and we didn't think allowing an hour to get there would be enough. We need to move her to a different floor that has nursing 24/7. She needs to have her lung drained every couple of days. She's in a nursing home getting physical therapy now & returns to her assisted living location next Thursday.
June, enjoy your fishing! Tami, I hope all goes well and you have found an acceptable substitute for your substitute!
Theresa, I think Tami teaches either seventh or sixth grade math in a middle school - or am I getting confused with the grade her son Mitchell is in?

Anyone like to take an 8yo for the next 2 hours until her Dad gets here? I've just about had enough - I'm exhausted - we've watched TV, played games, went and bought the dog a new bowl, looked for kangaroos (found 4), put a bandage on a scab that she picked until it bled, lost and found a puppy shop game from her DS and played with the dog until she's as exhausted as I am. Oh, as well as eating me out of house and home. (And I've got her again on Monday!)

Afternoon all!
Cyn and June, is it a grandmother thing to always work to keep the kids entertained? What about them entertaining themselves for a while!
Broni, no point saying have a great trip because you will be back by the time you see this so I'll say I hope you had a good time!
Julie, I hope the move went fairly easily (I think I read that right - was that what you did today?). I hope your MIL likes her new room and is happy and comfortable there, and I hope you didn't wear yourself out.

Grr, just lost a really long post thanks to my iffy connection... will try again.
Tami, I hope the photos turn out well and that you get a sub for tomorrow.
Tami, we have a bunch of state and now national tests for the kids. Because of the changeover Ebob'y year is the most tested year to ever go through. She was tested in years 3,5,7,8,9,and 10. Ally will have one less I think. Apart from the year 10 ones I didn't even bother nagging Ebob to study because I think they are a waste.

Suzy - it must be a Grandmother thing, but I like to think my grandies go home thinking - 'That was fun'. It's really only a fleeting time. Sooner or later they'll be teenagers and far too busy to be bothered with we oldies. Even though Lachlan (the oldest 11yo) assures us he'll never do that - I know he will eventually, but give them a good time now and they'll always come back, eventually. My kids still bother with the grandparents they have left.

Cyn, I think she means NO to the grandkids coming back... we're still at the point where we wish for an empty house - for a while at least...
Pride rehearsal is over for the night. Yay! It was my first time hearing them sing the Australia Day songs so that was kind of fun. We have some great Australian songs! Ally is singing What About Me at one of the events. Her singing teacher wanted her to show a bit more emotional so she played Shannon Nolls version for her last week. When Ally heard him singing it and really listened to the words it made her cry!! She will sing that one on Sunday night but not on Tuesday for the actual day.
